Jolly Beach Antigua: Jolly Beach Resort, Antigua

The grounds, public areas and dining were fantastic but the rooms were not up to standard. The bathroom sliding door was missing a handle from the inside the bathroom. The closet doors were old and were not sliding properly, we complained and they were fixed. We were given an old safe lock that did not work and had to get a replacement. The staff was friendly and always willing to help.

Jolly Beach Antigua: A Home away from Home

The hotel grounds is wonderfully landscaped and the public areas is great, well equipped with drinks and the staff was super friendly. Always available to the needs of guests. One negative point is that the rooms could be upgraded to modern standards, pay more attention to small details such as bathroom fixtures and doors closing properly. The staff did respond promply and efficiently when necessary. Great hotel and great food!! Would repeat the trip.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Good and Bad

This hotel was first looked at due to the price. We don't require 5 star polish and glitz so this place which has been given a white paint overhaul was quite acceptable. The beach is excellent and was good swimming. Was it raked every day? No butit was more natural because of it. Antigua is a friendly and safe place and hotel staff were very good. Food varied between excellent and good with lots of options but a buffet is not fine dining so don't expect it. The downside included an air condit [... read more]ioner that dripped water even though it was turned off and a bathroom door that often fell off its runners although it was easily remounted. The biggest downside to the resort is the very arbitrary room surcharge added to the bill at the hotel. Carol, our travel agent warned us that they charge $17 per night. Apparently this charge is taxed up to $22 us. Mostly really aggravating and not enough to ruin the holiday but.... Overall it was a nice experience and the scuba was much better than expected!

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Beautiful Resort

The hotel is beautiful, very clean and the staff is friendly. Make sure you visit Ricky at The Score Brewpub, he makes the best drinks and Shannon at the gym for morning bootcamp. Royalton does need to update their web-site as The Score Brewpub is not a microbrewery, do not go with the idea of getting different beers as they only serve Carib. In addition, there is no Beach Grill, there was one in the past however it has closed down and Grazie is now open for light snacks at lunch.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Couple Getaway

Excellent resort, very friendly staff. Rooms were always cleaned fresh towels, steamer in the rooms, comfy bed. Food was good ate at all the a la carte, 3 times at the steakhouse, buffet had a lot variety.

Galley Bay Resort and Spa: Wow, Wow, Wow!

This is an absolutely gorgeous small resort nestled in a lush tropical forest along a pristine stretch of white sand. Small pool, but never crowded. Was refreshing to come across a pool sign that read, “No Music” …Yay!! We stayed in a clean, well appointed Premium lower level beachfront unit. Steps from the beach. Restaurants and drinks were very good. I especially enjoyed the tropical drinks made with real juice, no big plastic slushy mixers churning on the counters. Coffees was sur [... read more]prisingly not so good, - very bitter!! Staff was beyond reproach. Many told me they had worked at Galley Bay, 15, 20, 25+ years!! They work very hard and the camaraderie and laughter among most of them was both notable and commendable. The only thing that put a dent in my vaca was the non arrival of my luggage. It came 4 days later on the next Air Canada flight. I ended up buying some clothing and a bathing suit at the Gift Shop. Didn’t go on any excursions, but “Shilo” did take me to a ship wreck on a resort Hobbie, and around to the next cove where the Royalton sits. (Could hear the Royalton’s loud thumping music from the Hobbie. Ugh!) On of the highlights of our stay was to witness baby turtles making their way to the ocean following their hatching. Volunteers supervise these events. In sum, GB is a very beautiful peaceful, well maintained resort. If you are looking to party and be entertained every night, chose another resort.

The price is good. Foods and drinks are plenty. The employees are polite and helpful. The beach is clean and has lots of shaded stands. The waves are calm like a lake. Pools are kept in excellent condition with bars nearby. Not too many activities. Tennis courts are there, but not a single player was seen. I wonder if they have tennis pros to give you some lessons. Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Not what we expected

Antigua Fridge didn’t work No suitcase holders or bench in our rooms We booked connecting rooms yet we were on separate levels and opposite sides of the resort we were on the 7 floor and my mom was on 5 floor. The Room smelt musty n moldy especially my mom and sisters room. After going down to the front desk 6 times for about 1/2 hour plus each time. They finally moved us to the second floor on Tuesday. There was no way my mom n sister could stay in that room any longer. We ordered it at 11:15 pm cancelled it at 1230 am. Then they called our room at 105 am woke us up saying it was on its way we said no cancel it. Then at 1:20 am they banged on our door and scared the crap out of us. Obviously waking us up yet again. No food at the pool area at all No restaurant at the pool beach area No mints leaves all week so no mojitos Only buffet for breakfast and the food is ok mostly everything is cold and seemed to be always empty dishes Restaurants aren’t open till 6 pm Only buffet and Italian place open for lunch and closed by 3 pm No food after 10 pm No food in between 1030-1230 except room service and no food between 330-6 pm Score restaurant Horrible Arrived 630 pm ordered 8 pm got 3 salads with nothing but lettuce ( was suppose to be ) wine citrus house dressing , chickpeas, cucumbers , peppers, tomatoes and goat cheese. Then are food all came out missing my moms chicken fajita. I also ordered chicken fajita but it was a chicken wrap with nothing but dried chicken in it. Was suppose to have guacamole, cheese lettuce onions ect .. no sour cream at all even though she double check that they had it before I ordered it. Brought us big bowl of hummus With only 9 little chips on it to split between the 4 of us as our appetizers that took over an hour n a half No utensils no salt ketchup ect for 10 min after we received our salads Mold in the score restaurant all over the ceiling as well as the main dining room I would say 80% of the waiters don’t talk at all. You order a glass of water n like they just walk away then sometimes come back with it. Servers are so extremely slow n just rude like it’s an inconvenience to serve us At the buffet there was a bird bathing in the bowl of water that they serve water to customers from lol Our room keys didn’t work like 5 times They count the culinary experience as a restaurant I guess but it’s 1 table n cost $110 per person Thursday We got all dressed up for Hunters steak house and got there and it was closed. Not open all night Tried to go paddle boarding but Only 1 paddle board works out of 10 of them ( no fins on them.) No Diet Coke at all on the resort and unless you find a can pop it’s flat. Found a drink we liked at pool bar n everyday by 1130 they run out of bananas then make the drink we order wrong with no vodka n no bananas without even saying anything lol No bars really on the resort. Like to even get a drink Pool bar all day and main lobby bar after 830 pm We came back to our room with puddles of water all over the floor and the paint and drywall coming off the ceiling and the wall as there was a leak 🤦‍♀️ Positive things -They had aqua fit daily -Beach is absolutely stunning -Resort was dead so we had no trouble ever getting a lounge chairs -No problem getting into a restaurant. Just limited food options. -Entertainment at night was ok

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Amazing Staff, Pristine Property.

A 4 year old (approx.) property with immaculate grounds, buildings and facilities. Spotlessly clean. Wonderful Staff, friendly, helpful, polite and very professional. Our (6th floor) room had a bay view and comfortable balcony, great for relaxing, with great vistas. Restaurants were nice, good menus but, other than the lovely buffet, food quality was certainly not up to "5 Star" standards, often disappointing. Beach and Pools were very nice, with all expected facilities, clean and well maint [... read more]ained. Unfortunately, the exuberant Entertainment Staff, wth their high energy banter and music, kept their poolside speaker volume on Max, resinating all over the beach for much of the afternoon. Spa was top rate, typically expensive (all prices in US$). Overall, we had a wonderful stay, would recommend this hotel and would certainly return.

We both felt like secondhand leftover citizens and no matter who we talked to, during our stay was not improved. Food is average but the flies make things worse. People sometimes see you and smile sometimes are too busy on their phones. DIAMOND CLUB HAS A PLACE EVERYWHERE NOT THE REST OF THE GUESTS EVEN WITH THE PRICE OF KEEPING A RESTO HALF EMPTY. For everything you have to ask. People do not go to these places to keep themselves busy asking, they go so they can celebrate an event, enjoy the lo [... read more]cation, and be served. IN THIS RESORT THERE IS NEVER A PLAN B THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHING TO DO AND THE RESORT CHARGES 200 DOLLARS FOR RANDOM EMERGENCIES SOMETHING, THEY INVEST YOUR MONEY AND AFTER YOUR VISA IS CHARGED WITH ENORMOUS TRANSACTION FEES YOU CAN WAIT UNTIL MONEY IS PUT BACK ON YOUR VISA.WHY? Please do not advertise the number of restos because they are opening and closing randomly and there are never more than 2 plus the sports bar open. WE HAVE NEVER SEEN ITOPEN THE LOBBY BAR: we arrived at 3 pm, melting hot outside, the bar closed we had to walk to the hotel to find our room and only after I phoned our luggage arrived. We left at 12, the melting hot outside the lobby bar still closed, maybe we would have liked a juice or something before heading to the airport. The coffee shop needs to have outdoor furniture wiped and pads taken inside overnight; each day I had the same surprise of sitting on soaking wet pads staining my clothes. DO NOT ADVERTISE THE NUMBER OF BARS AS THEY ARE CLOSED ONLY ONE IS OPEN, THE BEACH BAR FUNCTIONING WITH NO BAR SEATS AROUND AND BUSY WORKERS CHECKING THEIR PHONES IN GROUPS NOT SERVING GUESTS. The rooms overlooking the mountain have to take in daily diesel inhalation due to cars in the back of the hotel arriving and parking there, sadly. The tables are not set up for an evening dinner, not at the buffet or at restos, no table cloths, no mini flowers, no mini candles TO MAKE GUESTS FEEL GOOD ON THEIR VACATION, THEY LOOK LIKE BISTRO TABLES AT THE CORNER OF THE STREET, NOTHING ROYAL ABOUT THEM OR CLASSY. I could go on for another 2 pages at least, the fact is that taking daily surveys will not change anything unless after these surveys the stay is improved, which was not the case. Lower the prices and make it officially a 3-star place, or raise the standards to make it look like at least a 4-star real Royalton. Solve the Diamond Club issue and do not keep open places like Culinary experience for maybe one family per evening, use the place to accommodate the Club members, so US THE MORTALS EVERYDAY CITIZENS CAN HAVE A TABLE TO EAT A STEAK WITHOUT DROOLING IN FRONT OF THE DOOR FOR 45 MINUTES. HAD THEY OFFERED US AN EXTRA FREE WEEK AT THE RESORT WE WOULD HAVE NOT TAKEN THE OFFER. Regards The Pop family who travels a lot and has seen many 4-star resorts.

The Verandah Antigua: Disappointed travellors

They had a wonderful food service there so we had to go there every other day that we were at The Verandha. Anyway, I could go on. These are only a few examples. Our issue is that we should have been made aware that this place was closing for major renovations. We WOULD NOT have chosen a location that is closing. The fact that you did not share this with us is just horrible customer service, and we feel like we were lied to and taken advantage of

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: A Nice Place for Vacation

The hotel was well groomed. A variety of different food meals were offered. Many excursions and warter sports were available. Gym was in a good condition. Beach exercises were nice. Staff was very friendly.

Grounds are well maintained, beach is very nice. Service levels varied, some staff were great, others, not so much. Pineapple Beach Club: A little GEM.

My husband and I just returned from celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary at your wonderful resort. From the moment we were arrived, we felt special. You have a lovely property and exceptional staff. I would like to complement a number of people starting with Ann Marie who met us at guest services just after we arrived, and remembered our name throughout the entire stay. The staff in the main dining area were lovely. I can't say enough about them from the moment, we met Joyce at the hostess station to various people like Carissa, Kevininya, Stacey Anne, and Arlene it is easy to see that they take pride in their work and making everyone's stay exceptional. I'd also like to compliment Ash, whose energy was really special Suzette at the bar always greeted us with a smile, made sure we had lots of water. Also the duty manager Charaine arranged for both Shawlawn and Taylen show us some beachfront and garden rooms which we are or hoping to enjoy our next visit. Bobby and Alvin were fun at the activity center and took us out on the Hobie cat and we enjoyed some snorkeling. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommended your property to our agent upon return. We have traveled a lot and appreciate the effort it takes to attract, train and retain superior staff. The grounds and rooms need work , but the beach was great . People are very friendly . Food was good but not a big variety at all . Overall had a good time and enjoyed our stay . Great way to Antigua on a budget !

Pineapple Beach Club: The Perfect Spot to Relax and Recharge!

Pineapple Beach Club was amazing! The environment was so relaxing and easy-going. If you are looking to chill out, not feel stressed, and just unwind - this is the place. I never felt rushed to grab a spot at the pool or beach like other resorts - never felt rushed that I wasn't going to get a reservation or miss an excursion. The resort is small enough that there are prime spots at all times of the day which is perfect! The grounds are amazing - clean and well maintained. Not a lot of nightlife, if that is what you are looking for- however most guest gathered after dinner at the main bar and chatted the night away. We stayed in a garden view room - which to me was better than the ocean view rooms as it was more centralized. The water looks like a post-card - spectacular- highly recommend!

The Verandah Antigua: Nice resort

Grounds and pools were well kept. Two nice small beaches, but so much seaweed could not swim at beach. Good food. Quiet atmosphere overall. Limited activities. Service okay, but some staff not very friendly.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Ok resort.

Room was tiny. Given 1 bed for 2 people when couples got 2 beds. Pool was green and shut it down 2 days before we left to fix it. Food was good and staff were great. Beach is incredible. May go back after they finish the renovation

Pineapple Beach Club: 2.5* rundown resort with 5* beaches and water and 4* diniing

Walkways were uneven, steps to our Beachfront room were crumbling, finishes inside the room were poorly done. The room was small and the drawer to a night table wouldn't open because furniture was in the way and could not be moved elsewhere. The bed had squeaky springs. The window in our shower backed onto the vendor huts and watersports area, so it was strange hearing people talking and loud music in our bathroom, but there was no way to close the slatted window. Housekeeping, which was to b [... read more]e done every 2nd day but was only done twice while we were there, and only because we complained when the service hadn't been done for 3 days or when we needed fresh towels. Once, only 1 set of towels was delivered instead of 2 sets and the dirty towels were not collected. There is no excuse for that poor service. The ocean was a refreshing treat from the 28-30 degree weather we had all week, with only a couple of little showers lasting only a few minutes each. There was a public beach in sight and if swimming there, could find sand bars to walk on. The hotel left round disc-like rafts in the water for guests and they were a challenge to get in and out of, but lots of fun. There were 3 pools, one of which would be difficult to find if you did not take the hotel tour. They were all lovely. We dined at all the restaurants and had no complaints about the food or service. There is also a snack bar by the largest pool, and they were continually busy in the afternoon, serving such lunch items as Tacos, onion rings, chile dogs, burgers, etc. Our favorite restaurant was the Outhouse (yes, that's what they call it) up the hill, serving amazing bbq chicken, pork ribs, fish, corn and other goodies (salads and desserts). A reservation is not required at the Outhouse for lunch, but is required for dinner. It's a great spot to view the resort, day and night! We brought our own markers and were able to sign a wooden board with some of our details while there. We sampled homemade ice cream from the coffee shop and purchased souvenirs from the gift shop and vendor huts around the corner from the beachfront rooms. There were nightly activities and some during the day as well. Karaoke night was super fun! Guests from the sister-resort, the Verandah, often joined in on the nightly activities! We had one dinner at the Buccaneer restaurant at the Verandah - the food was not as good and the wine was served warm (ick), and you had to get motored in and out as the Verandah is quite hilly. The resort offered excursions, as did the various airlines. G-Man and Marvellous Marvin also do excursions and set up a table on the beach from 10am to 1pm every day. It's good to comparison shop. We used a taxi service to travel to Devil's bridge (although you could walk there), into St. John's to duty free shop (bring ID and your flight info), and took in the sights at English Bay. We went for R&R and got lots of that!! Staff and resort guests were friendly and easy to talk to - mostly everyone spoke English. There was a party on our last night - a Carnival - bbq dinner just outside of the restaurant area, and some local vendors showed and sold their wares, and a steel band played, adding to the Caribbean laid back vibe.
