Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Not bad.

Great beach. Great food. The employees that liked their job were great. A few didn't like theirs so much. We asked for no kid zone and were stuck in the back 40 where it hasn't been renovated like the ones up front that we found about 5 days into our vacation and we actually paid more for the one in the back. Shower had 5 streams of water, floors never washed but beds clean. TV didn't work till we got exchanged after 5 phone calls. Beach is never packed so didn't have to reserve lounger ever first thing in the morning. The best ala carte is the Gourmet. Italian okay and we never tried the Asian as too many said no good. They had all liquors even Rye which is hardly ever seen. Lots of excursions to choose from. Massage on the beach is a must. Take a walk down the beach about 45 mins to Banana Bay to grab a bite and drink is definitely worth the trek. Local fish fry a must see. Delicious food. All in all inclusive place for those that are going to relax on the beach and are not picky. p.s.......the big bag of Lays chips at the hotel are $7.47 USD. Quite pricey but then we knew that going to Bahamas.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Great Trip!!

We Had an awesome time at Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach !! The only thing I would change though is the condition of our Room and the Bathroom ..I think they do need major improvement ( starting from bed sheets,beds,floor tiles,shower head in a bathroom ...screen door would be great at 2113 ..and all the Bathrooms on a resort need some TLC too ) But I would still recommend this place to everyone !! Thank you to all the staff of the resort for making our trip great !!

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Great resort, shame we weren't warned about spring break!

Absolutely amazing, gorgeous resort!! The beach is absolutely gorgeous, the staff are so friendly and happy and seem to enjoy making all the guests happy. The food was excellent and being a vegetarian I always had lots to choose from. Everything was spotlessly clean and all staff went out of their way to make everyone happy and feel like they belonged. As nice and friendly as these students were to talk to there were a lot of serious problems for the other guests to deal with. They took over the pool area, the beach area and the beach bar/restaurant. Loud, drunk and high these kids destroyed all the tranquil, peace and quiet we had expected at this resort. I am so glad we did not bring our children to this family friendly resort while these students who were there through an organization called student city played their beach games which were organized, couples had to run into the water and change bathing suites to win a vacation, so nudity everywhere in front of small children, or wet tshirt competitions, demonstrate 10 sexual positions on stage etc etc. Bathroom toilets and sinks covered in vomit, condoms on the beach, the partying, yelling, kids passed out drunk outside their rooms, falling off balconies, fighting, the amount of kids we saw hurt and in wheelchairs was disturbing, ambulances and police were there constantly. We feel cheated that our one week vacation together once a year was destroyed by student city and the fact our travel agent didn't forewarn us really upsets us. Our vacation was ruined, we hardly slept, the noise and partying was constant.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Great Family Vacation

A beautiful resort with wonderful and helpful staff and lots of activities for the whole family's entertainment. Happily surprised at the high quality of the theatrical performances presented. One drawback was the long checkin time. Plane landed 10:30 am, hotel room was not available until 3pm. An inconvenience especially with kids. I suggest Sunwing should work on their timing to coincide with the hotel room availability.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: nice resort

The resort was really nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. there were a lot of activities to get people involved: cooking, dancing etc. The buffet had excellent food. The rooms were cleaned every day. The only complaint is the water in the pool was cold.

We loved this resort. The food had a selection and was very good. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The bathrooms needed abit of updating, but overall we were happy. We did some excursions with Nexxus. If your going to leave the resort that's the best way since we found taxis there very expensive. The beach was beautiful. Blue water and white sand. Viva Viva, ole ole.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Enjoyable Holiday

This resort more than met our expectations. Beautiful beach, large variety of food, friendly and welcoming staff. My only negative feedback would be the hour long check in. Perhaps when expecting a bus load of new guests, all available staff should help in getting the guests checked in quickly. Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Excellent Resort, I'd go back!

When we arrived our room wasn't ready as check in is 3 o'clock (as per most hotels). We waited in line to check in and were given bracelets so we could go to the bar and enjoy our day till check in time. I actually prefer this, since majority of our plane stayed here we got to meet everyone on the 1st day. We got our room no problem, it was clean and exactly what was expected. I will say, they only provide one small bottle of water for the room, and don't replenish it again, so bring down a  [... read more]large water bottle with you which you can fill up by the bar, or at the buffet. I love that they do not use disposable plastic cups, and have hard acrylic ones that are larger and reusable. The bartenders were amazing, they remember what you are drinking, and after the first day, I didn’t even have to say anything my drink was prepared when they saw me walking to the bar. The resort itself is small but it has everything you need; it also has a day care (at extra cost I’m assuming). The entertainment staff really do a great job trying to get everyone to participate, we especially liked Danika. Bring warmer clothes, there was a cool front coming from the States, and it was chilly. I didn’t bring a warmer sweater with me and you can’t buy a sweater on the resort. Bring a warm change of clothes just in case, it is their winter time. I found all the staff extremely friendly and always willing to assist with anything. The three A-La-Cart restaurants were great. The Bamboo was the least liked by our group, but I still found it to be good, so book all three. Your morning meeting is at 9:30 the following morning but if you get in early, I suggest you book the restaurant the same day you arrive once you get a room number (that way you can pick and choose your times and days). We did 4 day trips: The caves, the glass bottom boat, the city tour and the bonfire. Hands down my favourite trip was the Glass Bottom Boat, what an experience!!! From seeing tens of sharks feeding frenzy to K-Rod and his awesome antics (he was a great host on the boat) afterwards you should check out his cousin Deli’s place, he’ll take you right to it! I had a total blast at the Bonfire as well. The other two were okay in my opinion but I would not pass up the boat tour. When it rains be very careful as the outside tiles get VERY slippery. Try to bring a pair of shoes with some grip in case of rain. All in all we had an excellent time. This resort is technically only a 3.5 star, but comparable, if not better than some 5 star resorts I’ve been to in Cuba and Dominican. I would go back to resort in heartbeat and would recommend this resort to the closest of friends.

you want honest, here it is, 3 star max --- we were a family of 3, great for a family, it is all-inclusive until the morning refill of supplies is done, then you are out of luck. I paid for ocean view and didn't get it when I got there. Friendly staff, good food. Clean rooms and lots to do. Pool was very cold but beach was ahhhmazing. My daughter enjoyed the kids club and the staff were fantastic with kids. A la caRte restaurants were delicious.

I recently stay at the Viva Wyndham Resort in the Bahamas from Jan 14th- 21st..first thing I want to say is that the weather was beautiful for the whole week..25°c plus🌞😎 no rain! Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Amazing Resort!

My daughters and I just vacationed at this resort (December 31st to January 7th) and had such an amazing time! The resort has been completely renovated following the hurricane in October. It has high end wicker furniture around the pool and seating areas, our room was updated facing the beautiful ocean, the buffet area and seating areas were all new, there are tennis courts, archery, bicycles to use, trapeze, work out area with sauna, endless beach chairs to lay on by the beach and a beach bar [... read more] close by for drinks and snacks. Above all, the beach was nothing but sand (freshly grated each day) and the ocean and we loved how close this so quaint resort was to the beach. There was also a sports area with an abundance of water toys to sign out. The staff were incredibly courteous and worked so hard to ensure all their guests were having a fabulous time! Also, the night time entertainment was so very enjoyable! I can't say enough wonderful things about this resort and felt so special the whole time we were there. This is definitely a family oriented resort. My daughters and I would highly recommend it to any family. We loved the Bahamas, the extremely friendly people and how safe of a place it is. We most definitely will be back to Bahamas!

Memories Grand Bahama: Didn't go there!

Unfortunately we couldn't go to Grand memories in Bahamas because of the air stripe closure😏 We went to Riu Negril in Jamaica! The beach was horrible! All murky brown. The bus ride from airport to long!

Lighthouse Pointe at Grand Lucayan: Quite Family Time

It was "Island time" for our stay. Rooms were nice. The AC worked well. The pool water was the same temperature as the ocean. No relief from the heat other than shade and AC buildings. The ground were very nice. I liked that we were away from the crazy times at breakers cay. Food was fair. Best meal was at China beach. We keep to Portobello buffet for breakfast as it was a 10 minute walk in the heat. We felt safe at night and we're able to explore the market that was across the street. Memories Grand Bahama: Very disappointing on so MANY levels!!!!

Where do I start. Room not ready until around 4:00 p.m. got to hotel around 10:30 am.Toilet roll holder broken, toilet paper laying on the floor, clothes line in shower broken laying bathtub. The sliding door to the plunge pool so warped that I could not open it. Huge puddle of water on the ground dripping down from the 2nd and 3rd floor balconies. The stairs to plunge pool slippery and soaking wet as were the chairs from the dripping water from above. Maid service horrible had to ask for han [... read more]d and bath towels almost every day as I was told they were not ready yet whatever that means. After many calls to front desk still waited one nite until 10:00 p.m. Rooms not vacuumed and did a really poor job cleaning the bathrooms. Two mornings no water in plunge pool. I had called customer service on the Saturday when we arrived with all my complaints and took until Tuesday for them to finally move us to another room. Had maintenance men in trying to fix door, fix broken bathroom items, pool people, maids for towels or lack there of, had to call about fridge being replenished on more than one occasion. I think I spoke to the front desk or customer service almost everyday with a complaint and on most occasions no one even answered the phone. Really not a relaxing holiday with spending all my time trying to get things fixed. Front desk staff not helpful at all and in fact were very rude to me upon checkout. As we had purchased something in the Gift Shop a child's goggles (as my niece's goggles were taken from the pool bar while we were sitting there) and discovered they were the wrong size took them back to exchange and was told had to wait till manager came, I explained that I was leaving at 7:00 a.m. next morning, the lady asked for my room number and name and she told me that the money would be in an envelope for me in the morning when I checked out. When I enquired at check out was told no envelope for me, explained situation and was told "Too bad, can't help you", asked for manager told the whole story and he told me to wait that the store would open soon and to wait, was catching the bus at 7:10 so I told him we could not wait. Took my home address, email, phone number and still a month later have had NO reimbursement or any communication from the manager from the Memoires Grand Bahama Beach Resort. Worst holiday ever........... needed a vacation from my vacation.

Pelican Bay: Excellent deal for the price.

This was an excellent choice for a last minute getaway. This was our fourth time to Bahamas but first time to Freeport and we loved it. The location of the hotel was great - convenient to lots of restaurants and beaches. The grounds are clean and staff are helpful. Rooms are a bit dated but clean. The pools are amazing!

Memories Grand Bahama: Save Yourself the Headache

Arrival: The flight leaves Toronto at 6am. We were at the airport at 3:30am. I am 5 months pregnant and my husband was ill with a fever and cold. Upon arrival , there is absolutely no welcome drinks or direction. They slap on your wrist bands on the bus, have you fill in the registration card on the bus and give you a map of the hotel. I had stitches removed a few days before traveling, the lobby was full of people with nowhere to sit. we were told the room would be ready at 3pm. We requested a [... read more]n early check in at customer service. We were directed to the reception across. We waited 45min,There we were told that it would be 'impossible, because checkout for guests are 12pm'. We were given towel cards and told to go to the beach. By 2:30, my husband was barely able to stand, I took his temperature and found that his fever was 104 degrees. We went to the reception desk to get our room, where we were told that we were given the wrong information and that rooms would be ready at 4pm. I asked for a manager, whom we waited 40min to see. He too told us there was nothing he could do. We did not get our room till around 5pm. Once we reached our room I was shocked that they had given us a room with 2 double beds. The whole trip was our babymoon. My husband went into the shower to bring his temperature down. We discovered there were NO towels in the bathroom. Not even a wash cloth. I called front desk and was told they were sending towels right away. 1hr later we still had no towels, my husband used a t-shirt to dry himself off. Room: our room had no balcony, and nowhere to dry our wet bathing suits. The A/C in the room was loud enough to be heard outside in the hallway. We had to sleep with ear plugs. There always seemed to be something vital missing from the room, such as towels, or toilet paper. Calling service was useless, nobody ever showed up. After complaining several times we were switched to a room with a king sized bed, however the room was a handicap room. The bathroom had no bathtub and the water ran into the sink area leaving the bathroom soaked. I slipped in the middle of the night and barely caught the hand rail. The rooms are your basic cheap motel room standard. No counter in the room we were in to place mouthwash,toothpaste, toothbrush etc. Beach: beautiful beach, however you will never find a spot on the beach. People would wake up early morning to put towels on the beach chairs so by 8am nothing was available. Beach was unkept, littered with cigarette butts, drink cups and food. By day 2 even the beach towel station ran out of towels! We actually went across the street to purchase beach towels. Pools: the description states there are 2 pools. Reality there is a decorative column wall running in the centre of the pool, which they call a pool. The water smells like pee and there are no fun activities by the pool. Again, it's very difficult to find a spot by the pool. Restaurants: the staff are absolutely delightful. Unfortunately they cannot do anything about the food running out and the lack of response from management. Each waiter/waitress is looking after a huge section. There is a ridiculously long line up at the one main buffet where breakfast lunch and dinner is served. Once in, be prepared to line up at least 25min at the egg station. Breakfast was EXACTLY the same every single day. I asked for non-sweet yogurt due to pregnancy diabetes, they had none. The Prop Restaurant which serves food till 2am was always out of at least 2 items on the menu every day. We lined up to get into the steak restaurant. To our surprise, steak was not on the regular but was available at an additional $28 per person. The food they did have came out cold and the portion size was for an infant. Dinner, the few times we went later in the evening to avoid the lineup, there was no food left. We ate across the street to save our time and to enjoy our vacation. A LA Cart Restaurant: they have all but ONE single restaurant for booking a la cart. They take bookings at 11am, ppl lineup from 9am!!! My husband waited in line for 1:48min, he was 2ppl away from booking a dinner, but the announcement was made that the reservations were full. My husband asked for a voucher to return the next day to avoid the line up, he was told that he must come and wait again. We went to customer service and Veronica told us that in all the places she worked at it was the same. This is not true. At the Rui we were guaranteed 2 a la cart dinners. We just had to call from our room and the reservation was made. Even the Memories in Cuba were able to book our dinner via a simple visit to the desk (a 5 process) Entertainment: once again, no seating available if you go 30min before a show. The shows are poor. The Rock Show was an absolute disaster. The dancers were on stage dancing and playing air guitars. No costumes nothing. The worst was when they were break dancing to Led Zeppelin. 10 min into the show people started to leave. We didn't go to anymore shows. Customer Service: I spoke to Veronica, who could care less about the issues bought forward to her. She simply would de-minimize the situation by stating, 'all the hotels have the same issues'. My Husband and I travel 4 times out of the year, I have stayed at 2 star resorts with less issues. Save yourself the headache and don't bother with talking to anyone. In the end, my husband and I stayed off the resort for the most part so we could enjoy our vacation. We paid for meals off site. We went to a new beach each day. The resort has nothing to offer. Staff are limited to what they are given. Management does not care. They are booking every room in the resort but cannot handle the amount of ppl. They are not equipped with the staff or food to be running at full capacity. This place is nothing like any of the Memories chain we stayed at in other places.

Memories Grand Bahama: Good stay for the price

Room was outdated but clean Service was VERY slow and mixed drinks at any bar and the service at the bars was horrible. The staff seemed to all hate their jobs. Pool was fine Beach was beautiful and ocean

The staff were very nice and helpful. The grounds were beautiful as were the beaches and marketplace. Only concern was the check-in on arrival. Very disorganized and frustrating. Beans Café was great.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Awesome vacation at Viva Wyndham Resort

I would rate this resort 8 out of 10. We arrived before noon and we had to wait for checking-in to our room. No complain as we're aware that the check-in is at 3PM. We ate first at the buffet and took time to tour around the resort. The food was great. The selection of food was superb. We didn't get the room that we payed and requested for, but was relocated the next day to a better room on the second floor with ocean view. The alcoholic drinks wasn't too bad from what I read in the reviews that it's been watered down. You can always ask to make it stronger and the bar tender will gladly serve you. Tipping wasn't a big deal for staff in the buffet. You don't feel obligated as I find everything in the buffet self serve. Drinks, coffee, napkins... If you ask for a water, the staff will point the water dispenser. Not a big deal because it was all there. The buffet was clean and well maintained. A-la carte has different variety from the buffet food. We loved the salmon dish at Bamboo restaurant. I just don't know why they have that weird blue lightning inside that place. The show was amazing. They're entertainers are imports from neighboring Carribean countries. There's Canadians and from New Zealand as well. The room was very basic but clean. We always leave a tip for the housekeeper and our room was well kept every time we come back to the room. The resort was not crowdy at all. There's so many chairs that you can choose by the beach. The sand was white and pristine. It's a long stretch to walk or jog. I loved the fact that our building was about 80 meters away from the beach.It is very comfortable when you needed to go back in the room. Now the last part that I will comment about is the ocean. A little bit rocky and the water was wavy that's why there's part of the water with sea weeds. I'm not sure if it's just because the time of the year(May 21 - May 28). Overall, We loved the stay. It was a great, fun time vacation.
