Barcelo Maya Palace: Repeat customer
We have visited the Barceló palace on 5 or 6 vacations. The service is always good. Food is good. Maintenance on the resort is constantly happening and things are maintained well The beach is spectacular and if you love to walk…this is the place for you
Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Amazing resort.
Grounds and lobby areas very clean and well kept. Staff very friendly and easy to deal with. Pools very well maintained and pool decks very clean. Some pool lounge chairs need to be replaced or re-covered. Restaurants and food - excellent, and wait staff also excellent. Royal concierge very attentive and accommodating.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Good and Bad
Pros: Gorgeous views from the room, not overly busy, lots of seating/lounging options, good entertainment. Resort was clean, pools were nice. Staff was very friendly. Felt safe even with the public beach and restaurants nearby. Cons: Both beds in our room gave us back pain because they were sinking. Pillows were too thick for my liking, more back pain lol. Food was a bit dry and not as tasty as other Barcelo resorts. Something I ate upset my stomach (suspecting it was the fruit). Beach is pub [... read more]
Occidental Punta Cana: English speaking guests not welcome!
This is a beautiful property with multiple pools and easy access to the beach. Some of the quality however has been compromised since we last there in 2020. The steak restaurant for example was huge disappointment. The steaks we were served was certainly not of the same quality as what we had experienced in our previous visits. The biggest shock however was how unhospitable the front desk and guest services staff were, to the point of being rude. Many of them spoke little or no English and made [... read more]
Allegro Cozumel: Staff were great, especially Dana, server at the pool!
The rooms were small and dated but very clean. King bed was comfy, sheets and pillows very clean. We really enjoyed our stay but don’t lose your wrist bracelet which opens your room. These are tied on and the staff member that tied mine and my wife’s on did not tie it well. We both had ours fall off and I lost mine. This cost me 1000 mx pesos.
Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beyond all my expectations!!!
Honestly, there is nothing about this resort that I did not like. The ability to go between the Tropical, Colonial, Caribe and Beach resort was amazing as it did not feel like you were trapped on a tiny resort. The grounds and buildings are beyond stunning. No matter where my wife and I walked, we were amazed by the beauty of it. The beaches were well groomed and offered a lot of seating, rocky areas, cleared areas, there is something for everyone. Neither my wife or I had any complaints ab [... read more]
Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort
The resort was beautiful. Gardens impeccably maintained. All staff were warm and friendly. Rooms were spacious, beds very comfortable. Excellent food, offering many choices on the buffets. The beach was special as there was lots of marine life. We enjoyed it so much that we are planning to return next year.
Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing and so glad we went back!
We truly love the Occidental at Xcaret! This was our second trip and although the weather did not cooperate fully, the service and resort did not disappoint! Can't wait to go back again! The grounds, the park, food and people truly make you want to continue to visit again and again!
Occidental Cozumel: Mexico honeymoon
Grounds were nice with wildlife and birds. (saw a wild pig) Bars were fine. (not enough indoor seating) Food was good. We didn't do any Ala Cartes and my wife didnt have a dress to bring and pants rule on men was not enforced. Our ground level room was good but only 2 double beds made us cramped as we sleep together. There is enough room for 2 queens. No face-wash clothes supplied and they would not give me 1 to shave with as they are for Royal members only. Shower was good and lots of hot water [... read more]
Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beautiful resort
The resort was very clean with very friendly staff. Food was good also especially at the specialty restaurants. Rib eye steak was amazing! Beach was nice, but very rocky, so water shoes are a must. Double decker bus available to take you to different resorts My only complaint about this resort would be lack of signage . Bus ride from Tulum airport was about 2 hours!
Occidental Costa Cancun: Love this resort!
This was my 5th time at the Occidental Costa and still love it. Fantastic staff, especially Juani, Antonio and Sandra. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. Food was excellent, beds comfy, the resort layout is so great...not too big and not too small. So convenient to have the Ferry next door. The beach has changed a bit and a little more rocky but I think that probably goes for everywhere. Water is still calm which I love. The pool and beach entertainment could offer a little more [... read more]
Allegro Playacar: Relaxing escape
Wanted a break from the freezing cold and decided to return to Allegro. It has been over 30 years since our first trip and we were not disappointed. Things in the area have change a lot but that's no surprise. Check in was fast and efficient, had a couple of issues in the room which were resolved quickly. Beach is great. It's a short walk to a shopping market outside and about a half hour wank into Playa Del Carmen (which is now a lot lot bigger and busier than last time). Food was OK, [... read more]
Barcelo Maya Palace: Great Resort
It was a great time. Though our friends on a different floor seem to have the snacks refilled daily and special things on the bed when they came back. I wish there were face cloths also in the rooms. Very clean resort, lots of workers and all were friendly.
Allegro Playacar: Okay Resort.
Rooms need to to be updated. Staff has got to be able to communicate with customers better…very few of the staff spoke English, had a hard time communicating with staff. Very expensive for items on resort, can understand they need to be a bit higher but one does not have to mortgage their homes to buy a snack. Will not be returning to the resort anytime soon.Worst holiday ever.i

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Everything we asked for!!!
Second visit to Barceló, glad we went back. Only wish we would have signed up for the Barceló club to collect points for return visits. Steve langstaff has never let us down. His advice and recommendations were spot on!
Occidental Papagayo: Beautiful resort
The grounds were beautiful with lemon and avocado trees, a lot of iguanas and we saw the howler monkeys a couple of times in two weeks. The upper pool was lovely for swimming and the lower pool bar was the busiest, both were well maintained. Nice view of resort and ocean from the lobby. Buffet food was good but the Asian and especially Italian food was fantastic. The risotto was the best I've ever had. Kudos to the chef. Our room seemed small at first but was enough for two weeks and just need [... read more]
Allegro Cozumel: Great time
Hotel was clean all personnel were very friendly and helpful. Beach was nice but lots of seaweed on the shoreline, but the hotel staff did a fairly good job every morning, raking the shoreline. Food was good, they had a different theme each night. Italian, Mayan, Mexican sushi, etc..
