Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Great value!

While some criticize this resort because of a little "wear and tear", you'll be hard pressed to find better value. This is the second time we've stayed here and I'd happily go back again. If you're looking for salsa lessons or volleyball, this isn't the place for you. If you're content to chill by the pool and be well served and fed, you'll have a very enjoyable time. I hope they don't change a thing because I like this resort just the way it is.

We just returned home from a 2 week stay at Blue Bay Villas. We had a lovely time at this all adult resort. We have travelled throughout the caribbean and what makes this resort unique and memorable are the people they employ. They were very gracious and kind! We appreciated the beautiful lighting and the design of the lobby. The grounds were beautifully kept with orange Indian jasmine bushes for colour. There was a quiet elegance of days gone by. We found the rooms to be dated; however the resort is starting renovations this summer. One thing of note for us was the bed. We found it very uncomfortable. The beds are very firm. Hopefully with the reno they will be replaced with a more comfortable mattress. The food was good with fresh fruit, fresh salads, grilled meat or fish being offered every day. There were also traditional Dominican dishes offered each day. We stayed in the quiet area by the spa and enjoyed the relaxing zen music. The beach was fine . They had lots of beds and loungers with covers. Vendors did approach us and we politely said no and they left. We didn’t find them to be harassing at all. We enjoyed the entertainment! Three of the nights there was a sax, piano player and singer in the lobby. The Mr. Blue Bay competition was hilarious. The entertainment staff worked hard each day to offer fun activities and events. Presently I would rate this resort as a strong 3.5 star because of the rooms, bed, safe and the 2nd person had to pay for wifi. We hope to return next year.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: A 3 stars place with 5 stars employees

The resort property needs some TLC. The pool near the beach was not well maintained. But the employees are caring and very welcoming. If service is important to you, that’s the place. Provided red wine was undrinkable so we ordered red wine a la carte. Mixed drinks were good most of the time.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Terrible Resort

Very disappointing experience. The staff at the checkin counter did not care about the customer experience and were very entitled to say “this is what you get”. The concierge was not helpful at all. The check-in was delayed by 1.75 hrs and the room was smelling sewer with little black flies all over. We had cockroaches in the night. The vacation spirit was ruined by the staff we encountered and the smelly room. The restaurant staff were good and courteous; pool was ok; unclean beach.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: You get what you pay for

This resort was generally ok- decent for what we paid. The food was great and the pools were beautiful. But the beach is unswimmable due to being so muddy rather than sandy. Also the rooms smelled quite musty the whole time. Also when I went to check out the person at the front desk told me that because I had lost my one room key I had to pay 30$ US, which I later found out was not true and I’m assuming he just pocketed that money. Very disappointing.

Grounds were nice pools good our room was terrible flood from AC unit fan and Ac not working moved rooms next day didn’t want to move at 3 in the morning. Food was nice until I got diarrhea 3rd day then food wasn’t so good beach couldn’t swim seaweed and black water . Bad experience

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Fantastic Time!

Preface: This is mine and my partners 1st all inclusive experience. Resort was awesome, great pools, amazing beach, good food, friendly staff. Rooms were dated but met our needs and were fine. We wernt there to be stuck in our rooms anyways. It was a mature resort, I would say we were on the younger side as an early 30 year old. Everyone that was there was respectful and nice. We met many people who were repeat traveller's to this particular resort, one couple as many as 8 times.  [... read more]It wasn't overly crowded, getting drinks and service at the bars was a breeze, lots of space in the various pools to carve out your own little oasis. The beach feature a nice assortment of lounges and beds and from the journey I made down the beach, easily stood out as having one of the better configurations and beach fronts. Finding a lounge space in the shade was also a breeze. If you're into excursions, a resort staff member, Luiz is the guy to talk to. Best deals going compared to what is offered online and through airlines. Many excursions are weather dependant, so book them ASAP. We did two, the snorkel/Catamaran adventure was top tier, highly recommended. Second was the Supper Buggies, definitely do not recommend after heavy rains, which is what we did. The main paths were washed out and we essentially drove through dirty ditch water alongside the highway. All in all, an awesome experience, and would definitely consider going back.

The resort was great, the wildlife and lush green nature surrounding the resort was unreal. We did enjoy our vacation, the rooms were ok , but could be a bit more satisfying.. but beds were small. Two double beds are not suitable , they have to be queen at least. That was the biggest downside. The food was great, staff were very friendly and helpful. Clean , quiet rooms . my ac worked great that was my saviour when I needed to cool down . Food was great . They were always a help getting a taxi to town or finding destinations for me . Building is older but it’s clean and well taken care of .

This hotel does need a few upgrades, but overall we loved it. It is a small Adults Only resort, well maintained, friendly staff, the food was amazing as well. The beach was busy, and chairs all packed in pretty snug as they had cabannas and loungers. Overall I would definetely go back and we heard that there are going to be upgrades done during the slow season (July to November). Cheers

Once would have been a great resort,,nice size and nice layout, food was good,,service was ok. Our room was Poor, old and in bad need up updates.No hot water in shower,,,ceiling leaked water through the pot lights, no working smoke alarm in room, took cover off to check for wires or batteries,,it had neither...cover hadnt been taken off in years judging by the dust collection. The staff was very friendly and the hotel room was clean. However the coffee pot was dirty looking the plastic was peeling off inside the pot. I had the front desk replace it but it was just as bad. Water bottles were very minimal and scarce. No access to ice for the room or clean water to brush your teeth and drink. Unfortunately the buffet was not anything to boast about and the coffee machines throughout the resort did not work well. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Enjoyed our stay

The blue bay is beautiful. It seems like and wcoresort with its " jungles" and waterways everywhere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They enhance your stay. They are quick to accommodate you and ever pleasant. The food is easily the best we've ever experienced on resorts. They do not run short and there is a good variety. We so enjoyed the buffet that we didn't even try the a la Cartes. Also, they mix great drinks! The downfall is the beach; it is nice, but the water off of it  [... read more]is not pleasant. It's very dirty, presumably from the sand bunkers they have off shore to minimize debris. The beaches on either side are nice and not a long walk.

So we had left the restro without eating food and didn't celebrate birthday there. 3). Beach there can not be used. Means you can not go into the water as water is not clean & reef keeps coming on to the shore. You can walk on the beach but can't sit and enjoy as there is stink in the water. Their pool is right along side the beach so you can enjoy the oceanside view but can't be in the beach water.. If you are looking for a beach to relax in, this isn't the resort for you

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Good recommendation

We were at Blue Bay Doradas for 2 weeks in March 2024. The grounds, lobby, pools, dining area etc are well kept, however, the rooms are somewhat dated but clean. Food in the buffet, beach snack bar and specialty restaurants was good. Buffet, lobby, bar activity staff were friendly and attentive to guests. Room staff were not as attentive as at times did not leave towels, soap, coffee etc. but these things were provided when we called the front desk. 10 days in Mexico. No sleep for first 3 nights, European spring break so Spanish students partying, fighting & slamming doors all night. Changed to a different building, 2nd room was mouldy smelling, likely due to leak from upstairs shower when used, and my husband has asthma. Air conditioner quit 2 nights in a row and he couldn't breathe, so moved to a 3rd room for the last few nights.First and 3rd rooms had only a few news channels in English. Mouldy room had upgraded cable tv, including Disne [... read more]y, so more English-speaking channels. Pool was kept clean and tested regularly, room stocked with water, pop, beer, daily. Not enough chairs at pool, always crowded as beach wasn't great. An hour & a half sales pitch for time-share lasted 4 hours, then it rained all afternoon, so one whole day was lost. Part of sales pitch was a "complimentary" breakfast at the beach, which was actually the same restaurant everyone used, so definitely not "complimentary". We had breakfast and lunch there for the rest of the trip, and supper at the main buffet, which was not air-conditioned. My friend lost her phone during the last day or two, staff were not very helpful. It was turned off, so she couldn't track it. Did 1 excursion to Mayan ruins at Tulum, rented a van & guide for the 6 of us so we could see the ruins in the morning when cooler. He didn't listen to us, and we were there at 12 noon anyway, instead of early morning. Two of us use canes, and weren't warned about how much walking it involved, or we would not have gone. Definitely not the best holiday we've ever taken. Memorable for all the wrong reasons.

First thoughts when arriving was good your staff at the front desk was very friendly. I requested a first floor room because of med issues and was l place in a second floor room no furniture no hair dryer soon of the wall sockets didn't work. Then had to pack up and bring everything down at 12 and store my luggage till 2 and then go back to see if they had a room on the ground floor.we got the a new room with furniture and a hairdryer and the refrigerator didn't work . Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Nice holiday.

Service staff are excellent. Grounds are well kept. Food and drinks were good. Pools are fine, but forget about the ocean as the water is dirty. As usual, not enough beach lounges and evening entertainment is way too loud for conversation. Service carts pass every few minutes, so transportation around the resort is great. Rooms need some upkeep which is typical for the caribbean. Love all the wildlife wandering on the grounds!
