Ocean Coral Spring: Great Family Resort

The hotel was a 4 out of 5. It was clean and modern. Lots of great amenities. Some staff, especially in the the bowling alley, were friendly others were less friendly. Seemed distracted. The food was excellent. Great quality, tons of options even for kids. Pools were great, shallow, great for kids or walking with Pina colada. Beach was fine but random rocks in the beach where you could cut yourself.

Beautiful clean well maintained. Friendly staff. Helpful. Family friendly Great food and drinks and non alcoholic options. Not too far from airport. Lots of activités. Some communication breakdown re booking pickleball and didn’t see outs of info about activities schedule …just kinda stumbles in them

Ocean El Faro: Amazing resort

The food was amazing, the restaurants were above expectations... Mike's coffee shop was our favorite spot as we are coffee lovers. Staff was friendly and helpful and the beach was awesome even though we couldn't swim

The resort was well maintained, the staff were friendly and courteous always smiling! The food was very good with lots of choices. The ala carte restaurants were very good and although some people struggled with reservations we didn't have a problem and managed to get into every one some a few times! The entertainment was good in the evenings and plenty to do throughout the day. My only comment would be to have some signage about where the events are taking place. Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Ocean Coral & Turquesa - return trip

We visited this resort in Dec 2018 and enjoyed ourselves, so thought of returning and did so Dec 2025.The Reason for our return is the resort is not far from the Cancun airport, about a 1/2 hour drive and overall we had a positive experience. Transfer:  We flew with Air Transat and the transfer from airport to resort went smoothly aside from a couple of people that were "no shows" for the shuttle.  So, the driver waited quite some time and finally decided to leave without them.  The drive time  [... read more]is very reasonable. Check in:  We arrived by noon and the check in went quickly.  Check in time is 3:00 pm and therefore our room wasn't available until that time.  The wristband provided is your key to the room.  At this point, you can download the App so ala carte meals can be reserved.  When reserving ala cartes, log on to the app before 10 AM and have your restaurant picked out; sometimes you may be able to get your reservation slightly before 10, but by 10 AM the app is active.  I believe Privilege guests may have some "perks" with arranging ala cartes ahead of time...I don't know too much about that.   Room:  Our room was a Daisy Junior Suite Garden View.  This is basically on the family side.  We were building 15000.  We found the location easily accessible to everything.  We were on the ground floor and I was happy to see that a proper working lock was on the patio door.  Our room had a humidifier, which we turned on a few times and it filled with water quickly.  The thermostat for some reason was a bit "wonky" as the first night the temperature dropped to 16 degrees when it was set at 22.  We spoke to someone at the front desk in the morning and the thermostat issue was quickly resolved and staff brought an extra blanket that morning.  We were typically out of the room by 8 AM and our room was cleaned by 10 AM.  So, a very positive review on service.   Loungers/Towels:  We had no issues getting a lounger, even by 8 AM and there would still be quite a few left.  We did not reserve our spot for hours on end without showing up, although there are guests that do this.  Typically, we only left our towel while we went for a bite to eat and come back.  I did not see any signage stating that reserving lounges wasn't allowed, but it's common sense to be respectful of other guests.  However, there was signage stating that smoking/vaping is not permitted.  Generally, guests would either smoke at the beach, outside of the front lobby or somewhere more secluded.  There are no towel cards, you simply provide your room number when getting a towel and return it by 4:30 PM and if you want a fresh one for the next day.  There are 2 shacks to pick up towels between the pools and beach. Pool/Beach:  There are 4 pools.  There's a kids pirate theme pool that offers a snack bar, bar and kiddy lounge chairs.   There's a family pool that is central to bar/restaurants and caters to kids and family; shallow with a deeper end.  This area tends to be quieter.  Then there's the activity pool, which is geared for fun activity, a foam party, swim up bar and it does tend to be louder with music playing.  In the El Beso Adult section, there's an adult pool.  No children allowed to my knowledge.  The pools I believe are not chlorinated, but salt and are very clean.  Some spots are showing their age and small tiles are missing.  The beach was cleaned regularly with only a little sargassum washing up to shore.   Grounds:  The grounds are impeccably maintained.  Maintenance crews are out cutting grass, pruning shrubs and cutting down palm leaves/coconuts, picking up garbage, sweeping the grounds around the pool.  Bar staff are always picking up empty cups.  That said, bar staff do come around for drink orders.  There's plenty of wildlife, coatis, iguanas, agoutis, raccoons, lizards, and off behind the buildings there's a fenced area with crocodiles.  Plenty of pelicans flying overhead. Restaurants/Bars/Service:  There are several restaurants, however, we only went to a few.  I want to stress that IMO, the service in the restaurants we visited was fantastic.   The Buffet offers a nice variety of food, but sometimes "hit and miss" depending on your likes and dislikes.  One night the roast beef was amazing with the mashed potatoes, etc. and another night the roast beef was really tough.  Route 66 is great for a fast food dinner, but again "hit and miss" on meat.  We went to the Italian restaurant Ritratto d'Italia 3 times, and each time were pleasantly surprised.  Some reviewers have mentioned that the staff is pushy with the wine list, but we didn't find this.  We just ordered the house wine.  There is also the Blue Moon, Sensai (Japanese), Villa Marina and another Italian (outdoor) restaurant.  There's another restaurant for Privilege guests (signage stated only for 14+ and adults).  There are bars close to everything and they all offer good service and drinks.  The Lobby Bar makes a very decent Caesar.  Near the family pool there's the Fresca Bar which offers refreshing smoothies and next to it is an Ice Cream Parlour which is open from 3 PM to 9 PM.   Entertainment:  The entertainment stage is outdoors.  Pre COVID there was a theatre building.  As we're not really "nighthawks", we only saw 3 shows all of which were very professionally done.  There was no "pre kids show" with musical chairs, fine by me.  The Michael Jackson show, which I thought I'd seen a lifetime of, was very well done.  The one thing that we missed was the Lobby Lounge entertainment.  They used to have someone playing the baby grand piano with someone singing along.  Now the piano sits in the middle of the lobby with no one ever playing it, such a waste.  On our last evening, there was a group of school children singing Christmas songs and entertainers dancing.  The lobby was beautifully decorated for the season as well.   In conclusion, I'd recommend this resort to solos, couples or families.  It's a solid value for your money kind of resort.

Grounds nice and clean, pools very clean, restaurants and food excellent, beach gorgeous, beach bar needs some improvement on cleanliness ( some glasses not so clean ) Overall it is a excellent resort..

Ocean Maya Royale: Disappointed with all except the staff; photos aren’t realistic, and Privilege apparently doesn’t always apply

Unfortunately what I experienced is not what the photos in the ads displayed. I had a ‘large’ leak in my ‘Privelege’ room which required 2 large bath towels in the middle of the night to deal with and 2 calls to my butler as the front desk did not answer the phone. It’s not a difficult repair - I moved into a 70 year old home that required major renovations - they just need to be done properly the first time. After the 2nd text to my butler, large paint chips on the floor & ceiling, and multipl [... read more]e emptying of the dehumidifier in the room I asked to be moved - they were accommodating. I would never make comments like this without photos for proof, of the room, the commentary with my butler and the difference between the actual Privilege area versus what can be seen in advertising photos. I was also disappointed when I went to the Japanese restaurant, advertised as ‘A la Carte’ but not given the option to order from the menu - as a solo guest - or sit with a crowd of strangers and watch a show I hadn’t intended to see. I was not informed before ordering a Sapporo that there was a charge (surprising as it is a Premium beer and Privilege guests are supposed to be entitled to Premium drinks) and guests should ALWAYS be told prior to ordering if there is an extra charge, when they are not given the courtesy of seeing a menu. What was supposed to be a special trip turned out to be disappointing and a lot of false advertising. This was definitely not a 5 star hotel or I would not have been sitting on plastic chairs for my ‘special dinner’.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Not so great

It’s not worth the money. Bars are not good. Very cheap quality of alcohol even if you want to pay for higher brand they don’t allow that. Food is not that great too much salt in everything. I won’t recommend this.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Loved it!

This was our second time at Ocean and it was absolutely amazing! The beach was a bit rocky a few days but other than that everything was perfect. I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone. One of the best in Cancun!

Ocean El Faro: This place is a dump!

Not at all impressed with this resort. Advertised as 5 star luxury, it was, at best 3 star. The resort is very dated and in a state of disrepair. The door to our room did not even close requiring multiple attempts by maintenance to remedy. The staff is very disinterested and inattentive. Food was mediocre and many of the à la carte restaurants weren’t even open and those that were open were impossible to book. Buffet was repetitive and bland. Very disappointing. Ocean Blue and Sand: Butiful resort

Resort has nice layout, rooms are big, service excellent. Washrooms very clean and showers are big . The food in restaurants, especially Japanese very delicious. Steaks in Steak house restaurant huge and delicious.

Ocean Maya Royale: Mobility Issues

Food and staff were very good. Rooms were clean, bathrooms were newly renovated. The only issue was the shower tiles were a slip hazard, there were no bars to hand onto. The grounds were nicely kept. Lots of wildlife. For me personally, I have a mobility issue that I can’t walk up or stairs without hanging on to a railing. There 5 steps higher than normal to get into my ground floor room. There was no railing, so I had to have help every time I went up or down. There were steps and very st [... read more]eep ramps going to the pool area, again, no railings. Had to have help. If anyone has mobility issues, this is not the Resort to go to. We will never go back, this being the worst vacation.

Very poor sistem. Lounge chairs at the beach not enough and always full in the morning. Shows - very mediocre compared to other hotels in Punta Cana. If you are traveling with a 2 years old don't stay at the 3 rd floor, they have no elevators, carying stroler up and down it becomes exhausting

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Large Resort with lovely staff

Large resort with a variety of restaurants. The buffet always had lots of choices but dishes emptied quickly and it took time to replenish them. The app to book a la carte restaurants rarely worked. The place was clean and employed lots of staff who were always pleasant and helpful. The downside to the place was the raccoons and other wildlife that came out at dusk. During the day there were mosquitoes, no-sedums and biting ants. Some people had severe reactions especially to the ant bites.

Grounds were well kept and always being cleaned or painted/updated. The service in the restaurants was always efficient and staff very friendly. If you wanted any help the staff were very open to assist.

Ocean El Faro: Enjoyable resort

We just returned from a one week stay from Nov 17th, to Ocean el Faro in Dominican Republic. We were placed in building 2 (outer building), 3rd floor, facing the heavily treed area. There is an elevator. Room was very nice and quiet. It was also located very close to the restaurants and a short walk from the beach. For those with mobility restrictions, I can understand some complaints about distance between different areas however we (78 and 68 year old) did not find it a difficulty. Those in El [... read more] Beso had a longer walk to many restaurants. If you have major mobility problems this could be a problem for you as the advertised trams usually take quite a long time to come by. The restaurants were good however the application they show you on arrival for making reservations to those restaurants requiring them is almost a scam. Not once in the time we were there could we get a reservation except at 5:30 or after 8:00. We did far better talking to staff and you are better advised to attend the desks outside the buffet each day by 8:00 AM to get in the spot of your choice. This excludes those in El Beso or Privilege class who have concierges to make reservations for them. Our favourite restaurants were Blue Moon (reservations not required but adults only) and the Steak House and the food in those two was a step above the others. The Italian restaurant made us feel rushed with dishes coming out before we finished the one we were on. The Japanese was good but the show was mediocre for what we have seen elsewhere. The buffet had great omelette stations in the morning and plenty of other options. Variety was sufficient for any taste during other meals. Food was generally warm, and might have been kept hotter, but not so cold that we were concerned. Pizza was great. There are some staff whom we encountered who went far above their job description and did their utmost to ensure we had a great time. Arielys at restaurant reception is amazing and always happy and pleasant. Eugenia also was very good. Alexander at the sports bar always made you feel welcome as a friend. Ricardo and Dainer at the steak house made our dinner there quite enjoyable. Yohan, the manager at the Japanese restaurant, overheard us saying how we had wanted to go there but could not get a reservation and found us a spot. Entertainment was fair although the Michael Jackson tribute is well worth going to. The lead did a very good moonwalk. We are not “pool types” so usually went down to the ocean where most times we could find a lounger. This was probably easier than usual due to the high amount of sargassum weed piled up on the beach. Some people still persevered and took a dip in the ocean in spite of RED Flags being visible. The lagoon you hear about to the left of the resort property is small, has a nice beach area with no shade or seating but a boom has been stretched across the inlet to hold back the weed or whatever else might be floating in. There are also lifeguards on watch on the resort beach but none at the lagoon. This bit of water is not suitable for snorkelling as it is too shallow and murky. If you are planning to bring funds for tipping, bring U.S. dollars in small denominations as we brought Dominican Pesos and had little luck trying to find change for smaller denominations. Overall, we had a great time and do not understand all the excessively poor ratings evidenced on review sites.

Beach is beautiful with lots of shade and sun. Good variety of restaurants however not open everyday, therefore need to plan well if you want to go to all. Food was always cold in both al a carts and buffet unless ordered off grill. Rooms are large however need some TLC. Not very good entertainment at night and very loud in lobby area. Unable to socialize Staff very friendly

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Very nice

Overall the hotel was lovely again, we went to the same place last year and enjoyed it. The restaurants are lovely and the pools are plentiful and fun. The feedback I would give is that the housekeeping could be slightly better, little things like sometimes our room was close to running out of toilet paper, And towels

Mike's coffee is the best, the grounds are always looked after. Route 66 menu needs updating, other food options were good. Beach was awesome! We will go back any chance that we get. Shuttle service from the airport was slow due to construction.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Our Fav

This was our 4th visit to the ORP. As always, we loved it. The staff make the resort. From Antonio our butler, Benito the trolley driver, Samantha and all the staff at Mikes plus Angel at the Steak House, they all keep us coming back. The pools are great, the food is fantastic and the hotel is clean. The beach is not the best, but that’s no one’s fault. This review is from the Vanilla Latte gang! See you next year.
