Palma Real: Great vacation

This was my 8th trip to Cuba (different hotels and locations) I went with 6 girls. Positives... Great staff, great beaches and pools, clean, good food, great location ( close to veradero nightclubs, and restaurants, and flea markets) great ocean view Not so positive... A bit old and run down, no hot water in the am Would go back there again

Palma Real: Friendly Staff Abound!

The staff at Bellevue Palma Real are so friendly ... we had a great time! My friend has frequented this resort many times, but it was my first time and it definitely won't be my last. The location was ideal and although it is not beachfront, it is a short walk to get there. The Varadero beach is top notch and having a beach bar and the entertainment staff there was a treat! Th [... read more]e shows put on in the evening were extremely good for being a 3.5 star hotel. The food was standard Cuban fare ... but always plenty to eat. I will never forget my Thanksgiving at Palma Real and I'm sure they won't forget me either! (aka I'm a "chicken lady")!! LOL

Palma Real: nice resort

We stayed for a 7 day trip(0ct.7 to Oct14 2015)The staff were very polite and tried to answer all of our questions.WE had asked for a room with easy access,due to my mobility.and were given a hotel building with a ramp instead of stairs,close to pool and buffet.Unfortuately,the food was average and the a la carte meals ,were not worth going to.They were pretty much same meal as buffet.If you want to explore the Cubian Culture,this is the place.This hotel is within walking distance to town of Ver [... read more]adero,when lots of markets and night clubs are.Forget using the internet,we bought a internet card ,for 60 minutes,could not connect to email of Facebook.Still.for the price of our trip,I feel we got value.I would recommend the Bellevue Palma Real Resort ;for those who want to see the '' Real Cuba''

Palma Real: You get what you pay for!!

my sister and i visited this hotel oct 7 to oct 14 2015. when we walked in my sister did not really like the hotel but we my sister and I travelled on oct 7 to October 14 and when we arrived my sister was ready to turn around and go home --the place looked so dreary after a nights sleep we were a bit more rested and started to look at the positives,,the room we had was large in building 3 which was easily accessible with no stairs the room had two double beds enough towels etc but not always a f [... read more]loor mat. you were provided with one litre of water which you could refill at the bar anytime. we had a balcony and overlooked the pool. the maids were very helpful and friendly Mercedes was my favourite house keeper. she talked with us and made sure we were comfortable the food was okay. i am not a picky eater but it was a challenge for me-we could have fried eggs or omelettes prepared by the chefs in the morning which i had every day. there was only bacon served one day which was good but i do not care for their ham or sausage. there was fruit of course but not much variety, the hotcakes were good but displayed on a plate not kept warm. for lunch and supper it was chicken or pork grilled or roasted or maybe fish and an assortment of cheese and salads and hot dishes like stew or vegetables and pastas the pudding were good but i do not like cuban pastries,there was jello only a couple of times and again the fruit assortment was not good only melon and sometimes bananas however the service was always good and you water glass was always full. the wait staff were friendly and polite.other guests said the food was usually better but perhaps because it is off season?? there was a cuban festival one lunch and it was probably the best meal we had.i mean it was fantastic!! the a la carts are a waste of time, the bar staff were great!! they were cheerful talkative and really made you feel welcome the front desk did check us in promptly and were helpful throughout the visit. the policy i did not like was the towel rental-20 cuban pesos deposit so i paid 37 percent or so more as i could not use Canadian money -next time bring my own towel i guess!! the value of the Canadian dollar compared to cuban pesos meant i kept my shopping limited. we did meet some lovely people from ontario and enjoyed going to the pool bar with them in my opinion the beach was okay but i have seen better only went there once the entertainment was good but i was usually tired by then however i would properly stay there again because it is close to shopping nearby and i felt it was a safe place!! 117.1 km CasavanaCuba #2 of 531

Palma Real: very friendly andfun resort

Good fopd, clean hôtel , lots or french people, activities on beach ans at thé pool ,been at this hôtel 4 times, i do recommend Bellevue Palma Réal Ressort un Varadero , Cuba, will surely go back soon :-)

It must have been a grand hotel before. It was clean and spacious. The architecture was greatly planned. Facilities were near each other but it had people still maintain privacy. I will come back! See you soon! Hola

Palma Real: bellevue palma real varadero

Palma Real: Great time in Cuba!

Great resort, friendly service! Sometimes slow, but that's how it is everywhere it seems. Our room was mostly clean, the food was good and we had a beautiful balcony where we would get an espresso at the lobby bar, bring it to our room and relax and chat on the balcony almost everyday. The pool was fine, the location was great (I thought it's location was the best on the peninsula actually, because you were close to the beach, but also right at the edge of downtown Varadero so we didn't have to  [... read more]walk far to go out and see things, dance, etc.)

Palma Real: excellent location!

Nice relaxing surroundings. The quality of the food seemed to improve on a daily basis. The beach was awesome! Lots of nice restaurants in Varadero and safe to wander about. Visited Varadero 9 years ago and would go back again. Lovely vacation.

Palma Real: Worth & Affordable hotel

Its a fantastic trip for my family. Rooms are clean and cozy. Staff and services are friendly and did not feel much pushy for tips. Swimming pools are good sizes with well maintenance. Shows are professionally presented and neatly organized. Shortfalls are: swimming pools maintenance hours should be adjusted to make them more accessible (currently before 9am and after 6pm). Buffet restaurant food is repetitive. The Italian a la carte restaurant has no air conditioning that make it not enjoyable [... read more]. Front desk check in/out processes are tedious that could be shortened!

Palma Real: not bad

The room maintenance is worst. Everything else is okay. The food and the service is good. The pool maintenance can be improved. The beaches are good. The hotel maintenance is okay. The best part is evening dance performance both on the ground and in the water.

Palma Real: Good Value

Grounds - well kept & clean / pools - nice/clean Food - great variety at each meal (except in the snack bar) Venue - old/needs some repair but all in all clean Staff - friendly and helpful Security - felt save / security at front door Front Desk - check-in very slow - never received a smile To reach the beach you have to cross the road and walk for about 7-10 minutes- not handy for anyone with walking challenges, but well worth it when you arrive on the nice white, soft sand and beautiful clear  [... read more]water. The beach bar is in a unique older Spanish-style building (very nice/clean) Location - easy access from airport - 25 minute drive / located within walking distance to downtown restaurants/shops/craft vendors/parks I work in the hospitality business and would say improvement is required but found value for the price we paid.

Palma Real: Dirty and Unsafe!

I will never go back to this resort. This was my fifth time in Cuba and first time at this resort. We went for my friend's Bachelorette party! The check-in process was a nightmare. It took us a full 2 hours AFTER 4pm (which is said to be the check in time) to get our room keys as our "rooms weren't ready". When we finally got into our rooms we discovered that our shower head was broken, we didn't have any clean towels and didn't have any water. Lastly my roommates bed sheets had spots of blood o [... read more]n the bottom of them. We asked several times quite politely to tend to our needs we were constantly ignored. Aside from all of the above - this resort is UNSAFE. On our first night a large wooden window fixture fell on my friends (The Bride's) head. It had to have weighed a good 30 pounds. After reporting the incident to management - they seemed more concerned with fixing the wooden framing instead of my roommates booming headache. After simply placing the fixture back above the window (no tools necessary) - they refused to call an ambulance, saying it "wasn't an emergency". Believing the bride to have a concussion we luckily ended up getting her to a clinic and it didn't completely ruin her bachelorette party! I would NEVER recommend this resort.

Palma Real: Worst resort

Many of us got sick because of the disgusting food and mold on the food. My friend got severely injured on her head because the hotel failed to secure a heavy wooden rail type of thing on the wall properly and they refused to pay for a doctor. They scanned our passports and kept them for hours I don't know why. It took us two hours to check in and there was no one helping out with our luggage. Palma Real: Think twice...

Coming from someone that travels on a bi-monthly bases, this was by far the worst resort/hotel. Staff: Right off the bat we were receiving attitude. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that it may have been a stressful afternoon our group let it slide. However, it became progressively worse throughout the week. Check-in: took 3 hours, they made us wait in the lobby without offering us anything in the heat. Might I add our group consisted of a 11 individuals. Rooms: in total we had 6 rooms. 2 [... read more] groups of 2 had to change rooms twice due to the ridculous amounts of mold all over the walls and bathroom walls. It was unbearable; very sickening to say the least. To top it all off only 1 room had functional air conditioning. We'd call the front desk for assistance, yet no one would show up. It came down to the point where reception would hang up on us mid conversation. Resort/hotel: decent resort, definitely not a 4 star. More like a 2 star. Be cautious of the roach's running around.

Palma Real: 2nd time here!

Great for singles or people who like to party. We made a ton of friends and had a blast. A minute walk to the beach. Downtown market and nightlife is in walking distance. Food was good, rooms were clean:)

Palma Real: not a four stars

rooms need an up date,not much of hot water for showers, actually it was cold, is good cold but not that cold, service not friendly at all, no bottles of water in the rooms, (only first day)we had a fridge but no water, we had to buy water everyday, in a weather over 30 degrees, u kidding me?, reception, when we arrived, they did not even tell us where the room was, not a map of the resort, they did not explain anything to us, did not tell us that we had the right to a two reservations to any re [... read more]staurants a la carte, because the hotel is near the city, we asked for a varadero map, they did not have one, exchange in the hotel was not a very good deal, etc., etc., etc.

Palma Real: Bellevue Palma Real

Awesome resort ...pretty good food...great guests....staff could of been a bit more friendly but that didn't really matter ,just meant I got to tip less ...and maybe a new CD, got real tired of hearing latino dance music 24/7 but i guess it's like that everywhere

Palma Real: Value

Still cheapest resort generally in Varadero. As a result you get what you pay for. But a recent stay was with the hotel 1/4 full or less and service, of course, much better. Excellent location. It's a three block walk to the beach. But it's also only about a 3 block walk to several great restaurants and some of the best live music venues in Varadero. And the evening live entrainment at the theatre exceeds some of the much more expensive resorts down the beach.
