Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Very enjoyable stay

The whole place was so well kept. The grounds were beautiful, right in the jungle with tons of wildlife. Food was some of the best we’ve had and the service was really good. Beach was decent but it got busy. Diving was right next door, super dive team and well priced. The only minor niggle was the pressure to hear the vacation club presentation. Other than that, it was a fabulous visit & we definitely recommend it.

Secrets Huatulco: Secrets Hautoluco

It’s a fantastic place for a relaxing getaway! The staff are extremely enthusiastic and genuine. Restaurants and venues to suit all. The private bay is breathtaking! The hotel shows its age, but will forgo renos next year.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Paradise

There does seem to be some Mixed reviews on this resort, but we had nothing to complain about. This resort is absolutely stunning. Beautiful rooms, amazing food similar to what we have had at secrets Akumal in Mexico, attentive staff, great shows, lovely beach lots of chairs and great drinks, and an amazing little cafe with snacks, ice cream, coffee and lattes. We had a very relaxing time and would highly recommend the resort.

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Service was A1, two thumbs up, 10/10!

Secrets The Vine was a beautiful resort for rest and relaxation. The room was beautifully appointed and contained almost everything we could have needed plus more! The mini bar fridge was well stocked daily with beer, soft drinks, fruit juice and water. Snacks were also left for us daily, Pringles and M&M’s. Additionally, we were left a bottle of tequila in our room for the week. Our concierges for the week were Jared and Stephano. They went above and beyond to make our stay special. No reque [... read more]st was too great. All of the service staff were exceptional from morning to evening. And always with a smile! The entertainment was wonderful. The food was quite good with enough variety to please a number of palates. Our meal at the steakhouse was the most memorable and breakfast and lunch at Olio was always exceptional! If you really want to treat yourself, and if it’s within your budget, I would highly recommend Preferred deluxe! This was the first time that we had stayed at a resort “Preferred” and hopefully it won’t be our last! Check in and checkout was fast and painless. I would highly recommend Secrets The Vine!

Secrets Huatulco: Best Resort!

First time to Huatulco and to a Secrets Resort. Loved both. Rooms are incredibly comfortable - all have view of the bay (except those that walk onto the pool levels) ... The sand in this part of Mexico is coarse, tan sand (easier to wash off) .. it does get hot on one's feet. One must be careful with respect to the waves and undertow .. however, we were in the ocean daily. There are many pools - so never crowded.The snorkeling in this cove was not worth it .. we did not take the all day 7 Bays  [... read more]and Snorkeling tour (7 hr) but next time we will just take a cab to the National Park and snorkel there. The palapas are long rows (not individual) but we were able to enjoy the full day on the beach with good protection from direct sun. As the bay is not huge one cannot take 'long walk on the beach' as one does in the DR .. but no seaweed! Adults only - and more on the more 'mature' side .. so peaceful and quiet (perfect for us!). The restaurants are generally excellent (Burgundy, Tamarindo and Oceanis were our favouurites). We paid for Preferred status so had breakfast at Castaways most mornings. However, the buffet at the Market Grill was better than most buffets we have experienced. The staff were friendly and helpful We took one tour into town that we enjoyed .. We were there for 7 days and wished we had booked for longer (10 would be perfect). I am sure we will return.

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Fantastic Resort

Food was great people even better entertainment team awesome would definitely go back again The weather was great beach water not very clear The swim up was very nice fed the iguana's there and would do it again

Secrets Huatulco: Great Holiday

My husband and I had an amazing time with friends at the Secrets Resort in Huatulco, Mexico. This was the second time we have been to this resort and both times our holiday was everything we hoped for and more. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were always so clean and well stocked. I loved our rooms with a balcony view of the ocean from every room. I especially enjoyed the shower, very relaxing. There is a perfect spot for snorkeling by the rocks at the one side of the bay. My husband and two of our friends saw whales breaching out of the water just beyond our bay, out in the ocean. I was happy to view them from the video that they took. The food was really good and there are quite a few restaurants to chose from. The Barefoot Grill by the pool provided delicious choices for meals like burgers, hotdogs, fries, guacamole and salsa, salads and ceviche. There was also a pizza oven and specialty food demonstrations set up next to the Grill on different days. The beer in a can was Aymstel. We took a 15 minute taxi ride into town. This resort has turned out to be our favourite holiday place.

Secrets St. Martin: Amazing resort!

They are still under renovation from prior hurricanes. Was this a 5 star throughout? No. But it was certainly more than a 4.5 throughout hence the 5 star review. It appears they are choosing to spend their renovation dollars wisely. The Lobby is a great start with 5 stars, but then in the hallways to your room you may be wondering is this a 3 star? Then you open your door and it is luxurious 5 stars - the only better I have been in was in high-end Vegas. The food was fabulous, we did  [... read more]not have a bad meal or portion of a meal. Sometimes the buffet was better than the restaurants. The beer and liquor is name brand top-shelf stuff. All beaches on St. Martin are public, but since this is so isolated no issues there. White powdery sand for kms/miles. Turquoise gentle waters due to the partial reef offshore. Depending on the tide, winds, and current you may get some seagrass (seaweed) coming onshore. This only happened 2 days back to back during our stay. Once the tide turns, staff hand rake the beach within an hour. We couldn't get a straight answer other than the resort is fully booked, but it was definitely NOT at 100% capacity as at a guess only 50% to 75% of the rooms have been renovated so far. All restaurants were 'open', just not all the time. The Buffet (Market Cafe) and Himitsu (Pan-Asian) was open all the time due to specialized cooking equipment, but the rest rotated through a single physical location such that e.g. Portofino (Italian) was Day 1, Ratatouille (Mediterranean) was Day 2, Olio (French) was Day 3, then repeat. CoCo's Cafe was open 7 AM to 11 PM. The swim-up bar was not open, but backing it the main pool bar was open. 10AM for beer and 11AM for liquor. If you really suffer that badly to get out of the huge infinity pool or walk 100 feet from the ocean to get your drink this review is meaningless to you. The iguanas are large and 'friendly', well, at least used to us tourists anyway. Isolation: Great on one hand as it is relaxing and quiet. It may only be 18 km/12 mi from the airport but it takes you an hour to make the journey. You may want anti-nausea medication before undertaking this journey which is not for the faint of heart. The islanders say the same about driving in snow (they can't even imagine it), so it is what you are used to. The 2 hour round-trip for excursions really adds to the length of the day. All excursions take this into account so be prepared to start your day very early. There are only 2 all-inclusive resorts on the island, one in the Dutch part and this one in the French part. This island produces nothing other than some fish and 2 kinds of lobster. EVERYTHING else is imported. Tourism is their lifeblood.

Secrets Huatulco: Unique Resort

The resort was incredibly clean and efficient. Easy to navigate! Beautiful views from everywhere, including all the rooms. There were activities all day long, live music often, and excellent service! The staff was really top notch. The food was quite good and the restaurants were always available without a reservation. My one complaint was the beach which obviously isn’t the fault of the resort in any way. There was one area to sit - far away from the water, all together under large thatched roo [... read more]fs. I prefer spread out under palm trees and with some options for location… there was no shade on the beach other than the large roofs. The sand was also not walkable as it was so abrasive and hot. So as a beach person, this was a disappointment.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Very disappointing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We expected the best as we had paid for the best package. The appearance was very new and clean. We paid for ocean view suite but no view of the ocean was there....too much beach chairs and bars everywhere, blocking the view. The cleanliness of our room was less than expected....floors and mirrors were not done for our arrival or during the stay which was disappointing. Paying for a butler was not a good decision...he did nothing for us...he said good morning and failed to follow through on an [... read more]y requests we made forcing me to go to the concierge to insist in physical accommodation to allow me to access the beach. The food at the main buffet was very disappointing so we did not eat there if we could help it. The restaurants were the best part of the experience...good staff attention and excellent meals. I would never pay for preferred status again...it was extremely expensive and not worth the service....if you were not tipping they would not serve...completely ignored us on the last day I guess since we were leaving soon but I paid for the full week of service. Lastly, the beach was not relaxing...the hotel allowed a truck load of vendors on the beach each day and they constantly begged and asked for money for their wares. In addition, people who did not pay for preferred came on our beach and got served as well so what did we pay $15, 000 for??????

Secrets St. Martin: Complete Disappointment

The check in was odd but efficient. First impression was the complete lacking look of a luxury resort, nothing fancy by any means. Our room was pretty average considering it was a Preferred upgrade. There were severe signs of wear, mold and generally a worn out room. we had a daily infestation of millipedes. The breakfast buffet was the only morning option and it was adequate with your basic standards but again nothing fancy. The buffet room itself should have been updated 20 years ago. No where did the Sunwing website mention that most of the restaurants were closed for renovations. We could have the buffet or hibachi. There was a small section of the buffet converted for a small theme area. Generally the food was good but just lacking on options. Again, far from a luxury resort. They class their coffee shop as a restaurant because you can get a cookie there. The Preferred lounge was far from expected, seating for 8 but open to everyone, preferred or not. Sunwing also "forgot" to mention the lack of nightly entertainment due to more renovations going on at the theatre. Their solution was a DJ at the lobby bar. Nice beach, the pool is nice but designed poorly for allowing enough chairs. There were never enough. An employee told us they were closing again at the end of May for 18 months for further renovations. It really needs it. The staff was great but many lacked enthusiasm and we could see why.

Secrets Playa Mujeres: great resort

Everything was exelent staff is amazing polite always asking if everything is ok. The food is very good, The gym is well equiped when there evryday. The only thing they try to sell you upgrade when you arrived. bed at the beach at 200$ US per day is a non sense at the price you pay.to go at this resort.

The resort grounds, and restaurants are well maintained. They're renovating rooms starting next month so I'm sure they'll be nice. Food was great. It's a personal choice but we could always find something good. Service and staff was excellent- always pleasant and helpful. The beach was gorgeous.

Secrets Wild Orchid: Excellent Stay

We were very impressed by the level of attention paid to small details including cleanliness, grounds, service and maintenance. The resort including common areas and grounds were always spotless, as were the rooms, the restaurants, the fitness facilities etc. All of the equipment and sports facilities, tennis courts et a;, were well maintained and modern. There was an amazing variety of food and very high quality and the staff was outstanding. The beach was also very good with clear swimming [... read more] areas and lifeguards. Overall, perhaps the nicest place we have ever stayed and the service, staff and facilities were above expectation.

Secrets St. Martin: Friendly Place

The staff at Secrets is absolutely wonderful. We couldn't have been more happy with the care we received. The drinks are incredible and made as if they were out of a magazine. The entertainment was different overnight but great.

Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: A little tired ...

This was our fourth trip to this resort and after an absence of six years - it will definitely be our last. The resort is incredibly tired and needs some much needed updating to most common areas and pool. Pool was missing many ceramic tiles and could become a liability if anyone were to cut themselves on the broken tiles. Beach accommodation seating was incredibly tight and, as we are not beach people, the beach lacks the draw for any walks as the "sand" is very pebbly and hard to navi [... read more]gate. The beach also had the "black" flag flying for the entire two weeks that we were there - with the story (myth) of a crocodile on the beach possibly two crocs from the river. Party pool as expected - noisy, out of control drinking, and the usual bar atmosphere. Sad to see grownups in various levels of drunkenness including the inability to walk. Staff, however, were outstanding and very accommodating. Speciality restaurants were "okay" but was happy to see an enforced dress code for gentlemen wearing shorts - the work around with lovely seating outside the restaurant was more than accommodating for those guests. We did upgrade to a swim out suite and the move was a welcome relief from scurrying to the pool to ensure a lounge and shade at 6:00 am. Definitely not worth the "Secrets" accreditation and very expensive for what we received.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Amazing Vacation and Resort

This was our first time trying the "Secrets" brand of all-inclusive resorts and we were not disappointed. This is a new resort, only a year old and was by far one of the best laid out resorts we have ever been to. Everything was kept clean and the staff took the extra effort to show the pride in their work for this resort. The food was the standard for resorts but the hibachi grill stole the show (was our favourite but it is the only place you need a reservation so book it early upon your arrival). Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Very nice resort

The resort was very nice, the beaches were terrific! The food was not good! Having stayed at other Secrets Resorts where the cuisine was amazing, this was very much a let down. Most of the restaurant staff were not very friendly.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Outstanding Resort

Just got back from Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya. Wow, best time ever. 3 pools to lounge around in. Beautiful beach. Always had a choice of where to eat, never a shortage. Top notch cuisine and service.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Best Resort we have been too

Great resort, amazing and courteous staff and 5* food, with plenty of amazing menu options. This place has it all, Including good accommodation, beautiful grounds and nice sandy beach. The drive from the airport was 1.5- 2 hours, depending on traffic. Air transit rep at the hotel was non-existent. There was no information about the transfer back home found in the travel office at the hotel. Shout out to our tripcentral travel agent! She was great!
