Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Typical Cuban Resort

When traveling to Cuba, one can't expect luxury, but this hotel was comfortable, the staff always friendly and willing to help, room very clean. On the negative side, the cocktails were very bland and watered down, and it was a big concern when spraying for insects occurred during times when there were tourists walking on the grounds.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Decent Cuban resort with pros & cons

The older part of the resort (lobby, pool, 'standard' rooms etc are all showing wear - peeling paint, chipped tiles - nothing horrible, just tired. As with most resorts, Cubans are friendly, patient and accommodating. I did not realize there was a 'plus' option, the exclusive pool, bar and 2 story accommodation in the 'Plus' section seem newer and look quite nice. I was on a fl [... read more]ight that landed and departed from Santiago de Cuba (3hrs away). This definitely eats into a short holiday. Lastly, though I know this is virtually impossible to prevent, there were smokers everywhere (except the buffet). I felt like I was always in the smoking section (pools, bars, beach). Someday I'd like to find a truly non-smoking resort.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Awesome Time!!!

Everything was great minus a few small things but all and all a great time for my daughter and myself!! Some great bonding time for sure!!! Room was not done up when we arrived but they were quick to make it up and the water didn't work at first but that was also fixed in an appropriate manner. The fridge was not filled with water and beer and soft drinks but we made do!!

A well kept hotel with a nice view of the ocean. The shared beach was okay , music was too loud at night . The food selection was limited and the ala carte didn't have pasta on the Italian night. Bar tenders had very limited knowledge of drinks.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Not a Destination Topper

We found this resort lacking in some areas! The food was barely passable, it did not measure up to other resorts we’d been to in Cuba. The beds were very hard( expected) but the pillows were very old and had a bad odour. Bar servers could have been more attentive to people not holding Tips in their hands. Beach had a rotting odour and was very rocky! Overall a good week but would not return!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very Nice, but learned I'm more about beaches than townes

Hotel was nice, beaches OK but not great, clean , food plentiful, but not a lot of flavour in much of it. Hot water seems to be hard to come by, 2 days out of 7 , I being up first actually got warm water, I even let it run 10 minutes on the one day, to see if it was just the water in the pipes. Excursions .. the Rum, Cigar and train ride was not at all what I expected the train ride, steam engine was broke down(breakdowns happen), diesel engine ran, hooked to homemade train cart with various  [... read more]different chairs , bus seat and benches cobbled together to take us past roughly 4 city blocks(5min ride) Cigar factory was interesting, Sugar Cane factory is not there anymore just some steel rusty beams, lunch was included after 3 block walk to restaurant through town square with locals continually bumming money or trying to sell you something. The ending of the trip was a cigar and a bottle of Rum included in the Excursion price , overall I decided the beaches were more to my liking and my next trip will be not so close to town or the local population.

Worst place we have stayed in Cuba , rocks , stones , and broken glass on the beach ! No air conditioning first night barely worked till last night there then nothing again, hard to find something eatable at lunch and dinner, Staff was very nice and helpful, pool area bar was about the nicest part of the place ??

Hotel room was clean. We had trouble with our safe but staff fixed it right away! Food was better then most Cuba resorts! Beach was beautiful but small and rocky! Staff could have been a bit friendlier!! All in all I would go back!

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great Getaway

Friendly relaxed feeling. Familiar staff from previous stay. Clean, comfortable room.Under new ownership and name has now changed to Playa Marina Varadero. Food selection was good but buffet selections often cold. Fortunately able to get fresh grill cooked items. Plan to go back next year.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Loved it!

Have stayed here several times and always love it. Enjoyed the food, entertainment and especially the service. Always feels like visiting family! The rooms and common areas are well kept. The grounds, pools and beach were kept neat as well.

The Resort is a little tired and could use a little face lift in the rooms exp: paint is all it needs The Ladies did a great job in keeping our rooms neat and clean Thank You The food I really cannot tell you as I only ate 1 night then got really sick Do not know from what Again the resort is nice but laid out as to almost do a mini marathon to get any were Would I go again? Yes Because of the price and the people and give it a fair trial

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Excellent snorkeling!

Good food (as in Cuba). Decent accommodations. Very well maintained grounds. Make sure you bring one roll of toilet paper from home as it might not be replenished on time... Bring water shoes (some rocks as you enter the water). Excellent snorkeling right off the beach.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Great place to stay

This was our 8th trip to the Colonial but we've been away for 6 years. The damage from Hurricane Irma was very sad to see as many of the stately palms were destroyed but the repairs are moving quickly to the resort. The beach has been transformed to an amazing place probably a 100 feet wide if not more. As always we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff and many old faces which made us feel at home right away. Service is good- the stuff is very responsive and friendly . Beach near resort is crappy : green murky water , lots of stones and sharp corals , ocean smells like a toilet ,but if you walk 300 meters you get much better sandy beach. If you come with kids , expect a lot of nasty smokers all around who smoks non stop - the beach should be devided by smokers and non smokers . The food is the worst : Breakfast - Lunch and Diner Are almost the SAME EVERY DAY. Nothing taste good - they need an improvement They reuse the food from breakfast to lunch and from lunch to dinner . The different restaurants that you reserve separatly are not good - same food from the regular buffet but from a previous day. They try to ful you with food : Lobster bisque is actually just cream soup , scallops are not scallops , squid is not squid , crab is not crab - so horrible tasting food ... The only positive food we had was at one of the restaurant where they actually did serve a real Lobster - but the only for plus people . There is a poor choice of fruits or vegetables . DONT DRINK TUB WATER!: we got poisoned by the water they gave us because they put ice there from tub water and they always lie to you that they didn't ! -- if it smells like MOLD - Don't drink it !!! Watch they pure it right from the battle !!! The rooms are nice but dated . Mattresses are not good - uncomfortable ! We enjoyed every night life piano . The look of the resort is nice and well groomed . We would not come back to this resort . We would 3 star it .

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Amazing resort!

We've been to this resort 3 times now and can't wait to go back again. Food was good and staff amazing as usual. They are still recovering from the hurricane but that didn't impact our stay. We don't want to stay anywhere else.

There isnt anything bad to say the buildings are so cute the rooms are very clean and large, beds were even comfortable and most in cuba are not. The air worked so well i was freezing at night but i like it that way. The resort is kept clean and ALL the staff are so nice. The buffet was very good, same things but i didnt mind it was very fresh and good. I met a couple who have been there 52 times and will continue to go i will certainty go again maybe in july

The hotel was good and certainly had a colonial appeal and look and feel. The staff were what made a difference very courteous and thankful The hotel organized various events which made our stay enjoyable

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Reurning Guest LOVE IT

I travel alone a feel safe at this resort. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Love the Alacart restaurants, beach and VIP pool. I was a little disappointed with the condition of the rooms, could use some fresh paint.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Blau Costa Verde

I have not been to Cuba before, so my views must be considered accordingly... Also, Blau Costa Verde was in transition to being sold to another owner. Regardless, room was okay as a 4 star hotel but food was less than expected. Beach was also not so great; first 10 feet into the ocean was rocky at the bottom along the coast line. Staff did not speak English; few and far in between did. Staff was supportive.
