Beautiful resort

Super clean, rooms huge, service fantastic, people really nice and helpful. Close to the airport. Lots of trees, shaded beach. Pool area clean, nice chairs. No bracelets and no reservations for the restaurants - unusual and really cool.

Simply The Best !!

Me and my sister stayed at the Sunscape from Sept 26 - Oct 3. It is a great resort it is currently rated 3.5 but I'm sure it will soon go to a 4.5 or maybe even 5. A lot of renovation have been done and are currently still being done. We are frequent travellers and we always have our same go to resort but we decided to do some different this time and I'm glad we did. There's 5 a la cart restaurants no reservations required ( low season the restaurant altered night to night ) The staff were out of this world !! The shows at night were good, the disco was my only hang up it's not air conditioned there's only one bartender it's pretty quiet but once again this was low season. All in all I will definitely return !!!!

Great vacation

Just returned from a visit to Sunscape PP with my 22 year old daughter. Only a 20 minute ride from the airport. Fantastic weather despite our pre-concerns following hurricanes Irma and Maria. You would never know they went through. The (separate) Sun Club check-in was a breeze over champagne; promptly taken to our room. I have vacationed all over the Caribbean and Mexico once or twice a year since 2003, and chose this resort after staying at Sunscape in Curacao; love that no reservations are req [... read more]uired, and that men don't have to dress in long pants for the a-la-cart restaurants, no towel cards, and the option of an adult only Sun Club area (no, I don't dislike children; I'm a Mother of 5 and Grammy of 2). Food in the Italian restaurant and American grill was very good with great service. Drinks were good, too; not the tiny, flimsy plastic cups at the beach that are at most resorts, but hard plastic cups. Our room was not the most beautiful I've been in, but was very comfortable, fairly up-dated, and clean. The beach is gorgeous, and you can walk for miles. My one pet-peeve, having travelled to many areas of the caribbean and Mexico and witnessing this, is that this beach was inundated with locals selling their wares. That is fair and understandable, but they aren't even stopped by security from entering the roped off Sun Club area. We love the beach, so were only in the adult Sun Club pool one afternoon. Go and have a great vacation.

Amazing Resort - I am definitely going back

This resort was absolutely beautiful! The food was amazing. I loved "Windows" restaurant. This was the buffet restaurant and the food was impeccable. The service was amazing. Those who waited on us were attentive and joyful. I also enjoyed the Pizza shop and Cafe Coco! The Asian restaurant was on point too. We had the deluxe Pool side room with a private balcony which was stunning and clean. Our maid was the best. She really out did herself with making sure our room was well stocked with towels [... read more], beverages etc. So good. Now the entertainment team was off the chain. I can't think Julio and Rafael and Michael and Elvin who made it a fun and fantastic time at the resort. I have not seen such great talent and fun for a long time. This resort is fun for both family and adults. There is something for everyone here. The beach was beautiful and tranquil and just plain relaxing. I will definitely give this a rating of 4.5. The weather could not have been better. We had about 2 hours of rain and that was it for the week of May 26 to June 2. I can't wait to go back again. I am already planning for my next trip there.

Not that good

We were at this resort in Dec 2016 and had a great time .this time not so much .the shower did not work right and the bathroom sink did not drain let staff know and nothing was done .the main pool was very dirty and even though the resort was not full the service was not that good this time around

Awesome Resort

Very well kept resort with great food & drink selection,clean rooms, pools and grounds. Backed up with the most knowledgeable & friendliest staff in the business .Check in and checking out is a breeze !

Love love loved

From the moment we stepped onto the property we were treated amazing. Our room was beautiful, the grounds and pools were so nice, the beach was very clean and lots of lounge chairs to relax on. The food at buffet and All restaurants were very good, we had the romantic dinner on the beach and it was amazing.....from the beautiful table setting to the wine to the food!!!! It was ok

Very clean, very friendly, food was ok. My room was not good at all too far to walk, far away from everything and beside a mall which played disco music all night. I forgot to mention I am a little disabled as far as walking too much. My refrigerator in my room did not work. I asked to fix it. It took all week to have this done. Everyone was supplied with umbrellas but not my friends and I, when asked several times we still never got one and it pretty well rained all week.

Not that great

When we got there it was raining. It is not the resorts fault. It rained 2 full days then on Wednesday we went on an adventure to see the town. It rain during that as well. What was the fault of the resort was they put us to the very back of the property across for the Disco that had their bass as loud as it could be all night We could see the place just over the fence from our balcony that is how close we were. When I say all night i mean till 5 in the morning that bass went. Every room should  [... read more]have an umbrella for the guests and we asked 4 times and we didn't get one and every day it rained maybe not all day but every day. We were in the farthest point in the resort that we had to walk to eat or swim always in the rain. The most upsetting part was the timeshare people that were there trying to sell to us.I asked flat out if that was what they were doing he said no. A guest that had come with us sat through the meetings for 4 hour of the best sunny day that we had. This place was so understaffed that our room didn't get cleaned up till 4 to 5 in the afternoon on 4 of the days of our stay so I cleaned up. I wanted to be closer to the swimming pool and the restaurant over looking the pool and we were shipped to the back forty's of the property and both my husband and our friend have a very hard time walking that far every time we had to leave the room or go back to the room. I don't think I want to go to this place again. I have been in this area 6 time in different resorts. This wasn't one of the better places. I have to blame my agent a little too for not getting us closer to the middle of the resort since I did request it from her when I booked.

Nice resort. Good value and service

The resort is located about 20 minutes from the airport. The service from the staff was very good. Minor issues were resolved in a timely fashion. The food was good at the buffet as well as the other restaurants (beach, pool, à-la-carte). The vendors on the beach are numerous and they are constantly going by trying to sell their products. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this resort and would consider returning in the future.

Fabulous week - great resort!

I just returned from a glorious week at the Sunscape Puerto Plata. I have enjoyed this resort in the past under the previous ownership but the recent renovations have made a great resort even better. The food is fabulous - we mostly ate at the buffet, but also went to the Italian twice and the Grill. All of the food venues offered great quality and service. Having a coffee maker in the rooms is a nice addition as is the TV. (Any chance of getting CNN in English?). It was great not having the ann [... read more]oyance of wristbands and needing advanced reservations at the a la cartes - smart move! I am always touched by how sincere the Dominican staff are and how hard they try to accommodate your every need. They are incredible and really make the vacation! The gym is a great addition as are the Zumba and dance sessions at the end of the afternoon. LOVED the CoCo coffee lounge - staff are lovely as are the products!! We also loved your music choice throughout the resort - keep that for sure. You're doing a great job Sunscape. See you next year! Great Place

Sunscape in Puerto Plata was wonderful. Foam Party every Saturday...SO MUCH FUN!! Evelyn at the Explorers Club was amazing and treated our daughter like her own child! We stayed on the first floor of building 10. I loved it! Came right out to pool, bar, food and close to entertainment. Very nice beach to walk on!...but not clear or good for swimming. Food at buffet was good..not great. Italian restaurant was excellent! Entertainment area was always packed and easy to socialize. Drinks were fine, [... read more] nothing special. Small resort, so not great for long strolls..but good for being close to everything the resort had to offer. Paid $20 CDN outside the front entrance for a horse/carriage ride down the street towards the mountain and to an outdoor market..was a small journey but a beautiful view! Would rate the resort 3.5 stars.

PUERTO PLAT SUNCAPE TRIP DEC/16

Our trip to Sunscape Puerto Plata was a good one Hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. The only negative would be the service in the Buffet (Windows) We ate at the restaurants for dinner which were very nice during our stay as we thought the buffet could have been better. Over all we would suggest this resort to everyone. There were plenty of activities going on each day from the entertainment group.

Disappointing!

The food was excellent!! Wifi was available around the pool area and in rooms close to the pool. The beach was rougher than I expected and not clear so snorkeling was unproductive. The "sellers" gave you no rest from their pestering so one could never relax. Our room was beautiful looking but musty smelling and dripping with condensation. Our luggage and clothes were covered in mold after our two week stay. Hotel personnel did nothing to fix the problem. I think they were overbooked.

GREAT RESORT

The hotel staff were friendly and very efficient when you required service.Staying as a single adult i was not impressed with the Disco ( Sorry what DISCO may be 10 persons ) that has too change along with too many people bugging you to buy stuff on the beach The food was the best i have tried in a while and i mean good , not one complaint from this guy , Dynamite, full service with a smile. Great resort

Grounds and amenities were great. Best food I have had in the DR ever. Great staff that were all very friendly and very nice clean rooms. Great pool bar and night entertainment as well. Would definitely recommend this place

Good resort, good food, good staff!

We went with a big group of us and because of that I am quite impressed on how smoothly it went. The food was one of the best I've had at a resort and we didn't have to wait for dinners or have to book resovations which was very helpful. The staff were all very friendly and professional. I would just recommend not having the kids floating wall climber in the same pool as the swim up bar. Other then that everything was great!

Lived up to all expectations!!

This resort was simply unreal from the top to the bottom. Great service combined with impeccable grounds and beautifully renovated rooms! This resort offers fun for ppl of all ages! The entertainment is fantastic from day to night. The onsite disco is great! The atmosphere at the swim up bar is second to none! The food choices are great and were all fantastic! Piece of Paradise

We have become fans of the Sunscape chain and this was our first visit to this location. The suite we had was simply amazing across from the tropical forest and steps from the beach. The hotel staff were excellent, friendly, courteous and helpful. We enjoyed the restaurants and can highly recommend the deep-fried tempura ice cream at the Asian restaurant. The Windows buffet was very good and we were particularly impressed when they hosted a Canadian Thanksgiving. The catamaran/snorkel excursion also picks you up right at the beach for a fantastic day of sailing/snorkelling and fun. If you are looking for some fun poolside activities, be sure to partake in the Saturday afternoon foam pool party. Tip - be sure to have your travel mug with a lid if you are having a beverage at the pool bar when the foam starts. We will definitely be repeat guests at this resort.

Beautiful resort

The resort was impeccable, nice and clean, small buildings with spacious rooms with balcony. The food was great with a lot of variety, fresh fruits, beautiful meat and interesting dishes to try. The staff was always polite and friendly. We would definitely go back with our children. We enjoyed long walks on the beach everyday.
