Loved it!!

I was overly pleased with the Iberostar. The staff were courteous and anxious to please. The dining areas were very good, nothing missing. I really have no complaints in the above areas. The entertainment at the resort was extremely loud and of course very little English which I suppose is understandable.

Hotel was excellent , food best in DR yet, Very impressed by their introduction of elimination of single use plastics and water filtration system. First hotel ever to offer face clothes daily and ice machines.

One of the best Dominican Resorts!

Having just returned from the Iberostar CD, we were so impressed by the resort that we plan to return soon. It is an eco- friendly resort and works diligently to protect the environment. The beach is fantastic, large and free of litter. We went on a standard package and found the amenities well above other VIP packages elsewhere. It is a large resort but pleasant to walk through. There was no pressure to purchase upgrades or packages. He was truly a gentleman. The food was superior to many of the resorts we have visited in the DR. Wait staff were very attentive and actually saved your favourite table each meal. The entire staff was kind and hard working. Bar drinks and staff were also excellent.

Wonderful Stay

We spent one week at the resort which covered New Years and it was a special night. The food was fabulous as was the staff. The grounds are very beautiful and clean. This was our second time staying here and we would come back again.

Best trip ever!

Lots of fun, volleyball was awesome. Good variety of vegetarian cuisine. Rooms were comfortable. The disco was a lot of fun and the shows were entertaining. We met a lot of people and there were a lot of areas to hang out.

Decent resort

The hotel was nicely decorated for the holiday season and the grounds were well looked after. The room itself was average. The bed was too soft, poor lighting and the toilets didnt flush well (ours got clogged but was promptly looked after). Unfortunately, our room was close to the theater. It was way too loud, and we got woken up several nights with drunken people walking back from the bar (likely related to the time we went as a lot of students were there). The food was excellent on New Years but otherwise decent - could have been hotter. It also would have been nice to be able to reserve the restaurants more than once in our week stay. Nelson was an excellent server, he took good care of us. The pool activities were fun with energetic staff.

Overall, an average experience

Upon our arrival, we checked in and were promptly greeted by our Concierge, Oscar, who took us on a brief tour of the grounds before arriving at our Oceanview Junior Suite. The room presented well enough at first, but closer inspection revealed many failings. Our balcony door showed obvious signs of previous forced entry, and did not seal properly, allowing noice to penetrate our room that had been selected specifically for its remote location as an anticipated quiet retreat. 30 yards from our b [... read more]alcony, rather than a lovely ocean view, we were disappointed to find the exclusive, members only, open air lounge, complete with bright spot lights that were never turned off through our entire stay, and a large PA system that ruined any chance of peace as the speakers blared music from which there could be no escape. Additionally, the shower failed to drain properly, the climate controls were cracked and faulty, the electrical was a bit of a mystery, and the beds/pillows were substandard. Given the star rating, we certainly expected better. The real highlight of this trip was the food – plentiful, and great quality. It was a seafood lovers dream. Both food and drink are worthy of the star rating. Unfortunately, the troop responsible for our entertainment were average at best. The investment in show planning was obvious, but the talent just wasn't there. In particular, when it came to our New Year's Eve show, we expected something special, yet we found ourselves watching the same group of semi-capable performers attempting to run through a montage of rock music, most of which they were simply not able to accurately perform. As a musician, their lack of skill was obvious to me, but it was equally obvious to others, and the audience response was apathetic. Entertainment through the day was limited, but suited my desire for a more self-directed experience. The service at the resort varied widely. Our Concierge provided excellent service but was spread thin. Others ranged from enthusiastic to apathetic, and service was often delayed due to staff that seemed to be indifferent to the needs of guests. The grounds of the resort were very well kept and beautiful. The efforts to meet with eco-friendly objectives were admirable, particularly the elimination of straws and plastic bottles. Filtered water stations and refillable glass bottles replace plastic – a brilliant idea! Unfortunately, the resort is somewhat limited in size and scope, limiting options for a la carte dining (which was all good), shops, or the variety of hang-out/lounging locations. The beach was adequate, but not one of the better ones I've experienced, leading the vast majority of guests to spend their leisure time at the pool, complete with broken-down jacuzzi that showed no indication of being repaired any time soon. Overall, this resort was average, despite the great quality food, and not deserving of a 4.5 star rating. I would definitely not recommend this resort to others, and would not return.

It was ok!

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days and it was ok.I cannot say that it was amazing,but for the price we got we are happy with it.The property is clean (not enough garbage bins outside thou),the staff is friendly.The rooms were always cleaned up very well.The food was not bad but it was too repetative and there are not so many food options for vegetarians or people with food allergies.The hotel itself is 20 years old but it didnt look bad,everything worked well in the room.Beach was nice!My kid w [... read more]as in kid's club and Carolina was amazing. Overall,I would recommend it only if you get a good deal on it.If you are planning to buy with a regular price,I suggest you to consider other options.

Very nice resort

We stayed at the Iberostar for 14 days. My husband & I have traveled all over the DR about 25 times. The Iberostar is a very nice resort & and I would definitely return. The service of the staff is excellent and they do not cut corners looking after their customers. Our waiter, Robert was very attentive and brought us coffee & juice as soon as we sat down. The food was very good and well displayed. The restaurants were good and we tried all 3. They have a live band that plays music at the beach most days at lunch time. The beach was nice with many palapas so you didn't have to rush down to save a chair. We spent mornings at the beach and afternoons at the pool. The pool is large and deep enough to actually swim. This pool is probably my favourite when I compare to other resorts. Overall the resort is very well laid out and I liked the easy access for lunch by the pool as well as the bar. In the lobby they have a very nice bar which is right beside the theater for the show. The bartenders were very friendly and efficient looking after customers. It was nice to have the option to sit in the bar area for a drink or walk and sit in the theater for the show. I did use the gym and they had enough equipment to provide a good workout but the area is cramped. I saw the spa, and although I never used it, the area looked very inviting with massage tables, lounge chairs around a private pool. They also had a bird sanctuary for egrets which was pretty lively and nice to check out. A bit smelly but there's alot of birds there! Our room was very comfortable and in a good location in the 6000 block close to the pool and beach. The only downside of my vacation was, I did get ill the second week I was there for 3 days in bed and it took another 2 days to gain my full strength. This could happen anywhere and who knows where I may have picked up germs. Luckily we brought medication with us for diarrhea which likely helped. Despite this set back, I would recommend this resort.

Decent stay for the money

We spent 2 weeks at this resort in December. The first room we were assigned wasn't great as it was in a building that hasn't been renovated. After a couple of rainy nights bathroom ceiling started leaking. We got moved to a renovated room closer to the beach, but also very close to the restaurant with its constantly running fans and noisy delivery carts in the morning and evening. This wasn't a huge issue in the middle of the night, but forget about sleeping in if you get an ocean view room in [... read more] building 6. The "upgrade" came with a price of attending their sales presentation and contrary to what most people would say about those, it was actually worth attending. (Bare with me for a minute). Those time share/members clubs are generally a scam, but you just have to play it smart. The islander seem to take their time with everything, but if you play it smart you can be done with it within 2 hours. Just keep mentioning that you need to be spending time at the beach right now and even better if you go in with kids. You can always blame lack of time on them ;) obviously don't sign anything, as the offers were outrageous, but be firm yet polite about it. In the end you will get resort credits (in our case we got $70, as we refused to give our credit cards "to enter into a draw" to get more $) on top of whatever credits you already have. We ended up spending them all on gifts at the gift shop without paying a cent. Now the food: generally it was the same main fare each day (especially for breakfast) with some theme nights providing bit more variety. Most dishes were ok, but lacked seasoning, which is understandable in a place catering to so many guests. HOWEVER each night you could find something good tasting. There was no room service, but food was available almost 24hrs a day. We tried only 1 restaurant a la carte thinking it would be like our other trips when they were a waste of time but we were pleasantly surprised with their Mexican restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing, even if service was bit lacking. Beach grill was open only every other day or so and they would usually run out of food after 10 minutes. Pool: it was bit disappointing to see only 1 pool that also had a swim up bar, which was actually next to the kid's area of the pool. :/ Beach: great for the first week with small waves and no seaweed. Second week, it was full of seaweed and bigger waves, which made it unsuitable for swimming. However there was enough room under the palapas or the palm trees for everybody just to enjoy being close to water. Entertainment: having been to grand sirenis in Mexico we were expecting a lot more. Most nights the entertainment was disappointing. However the daytime animation crew was doing a good job with games at the pool and beach area. Trips: we only took 1 trip when we hired a driver to Puerto Plata as recommended by our server, Nelson (lovely man, if you get him. He took a good care of us during meals). However most of that trip was spent being dragged from a store to a store in order to buy things from his friends or being passed onto local "guides" who not only didn't know much, but were expecting money for their lousy services. The only good part was the cable car ride and visiting the fort in the city, which we did on our own. Overall I would give the experience 3 out of 5 stars.

The resort was nice and clean

The grounds were always kept clean. The food was good and there was always plenty their waitress were very warm and welcome and the service was amazing. Everything about the resort was great starting from the bed being made and the care that they took in doing it, everyone being welcoming and nice the food was great a large variety of things to eat at lunch, at the buffet for breakfast and dinner we were able to eat well. The vacation was very relaxing we enjoy it very much

Resort was what l expected

Hotel good clean rooms grounds we'll keep staff very helpful food so so.The nitely entertament was good ,daily sport actively was great. Will return will return next year or sooner this year. If the weather be comes so cold I require some heat.

Great resort

Very clean, friendly staff, great food, weather, all the alcartes had great food, good value for your dollar. I have been there twice, I you use a power wheelchair they now have an accesable van in Porta Plata. I will go there again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great resort

We found the resort very good the food was geat the service also. The only thing the bed rooms need refreshing for a 4.5 star place . The catch is upgrade to a better room at 50. dollars US a day which I don tthink is the way to get your clients. I stayed at other resorts in Puerto Plata and the rooms were much better. We lost two days at the beginning with the harrassement of agents after us to join the prestige club which I find is just to much. So be careful of that when getting there.

Amazing resort

This was my first time ever going anywhere. It was an amazing experience the staff were very friendly and helpful no matter what the situation was. There was always so much variety of food available. The place was always kept cleaned. The overall price is a great value. I would definitely recommend this resort and will be back!

Absolutely Beautiful

This resort is very well maintained. The food was good, the pool was good and the activities were fun. The nightly entertainment want as entertaining as other resorts but that's just an hour of your time. They always have good animals for you to munch on and the staff take care of you. I do find that they are expectant of tops but when you find out how much they make per day/month you become more willing to give. I went during a low season and it wasn't too busy or too packed. I do however find  [... read more]their services (spa, marketplace etc.) To be a little expensive. I wish the main buffet was closed because it makes things more hygienic that way but it was still good. There was also a lot of wind at the beach so the water want that great to swim in.

Nice resort, but....

Hotel was beautiful all around. Unfortunately my wife and I were drugged by Eric the pool bartender, with the intention to rob us. Luckily our kids saved us and got us to our room. The management are trying to sweep it under the rug but I am pursuing this issue to hopefully help bring awareness to this issue

Another great stay.

This was our 4th stay at this resort enjoyed our stay as always. Great staff & food was also good. They changed our room by request from 3rd floor to first floor with pool view as I have bad knees. A shout out to the bar tenders & Robert in the dinning room.

Spectacular resort!

The resort was amazing, very clean all the staff are very friendly and funny. Breakfast at the main buffet was delicious and the pasta they made in front of you for dinner was 10/10. If you visit this resort make sure to make reservations at the Japanese restaurant, best night of the whole trip!

Iberostar Costa Dorada - Highly recommend

This resort is the perfect size. Blocks of rooms are on both sides and pool is in the middle. Had our pick of huts on the beach each day. Emailed the resort before we came to book our alacartes, and everything was carried out. Buffet restaurants & snack bars were great as well. Rooms were clean & comfortable.
