Second time at ROC Arenas Doradas, we like it,

Lovely beach, super pool with bar, food is plenty even though it is basic but very nicely displayed, bring your own peanut butter, mint sauce for the lamb, seafood sauce for the shrimp, And your Heinz catchup for the fries. Be patient when waiting for more plates or glasses or cups, there are delays...

Beautiful resort

The hotel is clean only a few cockroaches. Food was also good lots of choice. Friendly guests . Staff in reception area and lobby bar need to be a little more friendly. They are when you give them lots of tips...

Disappointing

The buffet was terrible, there was no chicken breast available in the entire resort. The pool/surrounding area was very dirty. Night club was under construction. Maid service also terrible, one day they didn't even make our bed. I understand that you get what you pay for in Cuba, but in 2013 we went to Holguin, paid way less for our package through Air Canada and had an amazing time.

8th time to Cuba

ROC Arenas Doradas The grounds were beautiful and the beach was fantastic. the pool was a lot of fun -clean with good entertainment. The pool bar was also very good. The staff at the resort we're friendly and kind but just didn't seem to have that genuine friendliness that I have experienced in Cuba in the past. At the end of the day, they are there because it is their job, but they don't seem to have that friendly Cuban sparkle. The food at this resort is very bad. We probably spent 300$ going out for dinners because the food in the buffet was so bad. To the reorts defense, there was an obvious presence of managers on the resort at the time we visited, and it seemed like they were making improvements, so maybe the food will improve. The rooms were all different. out friends got put in a terrible looking/smelling room and asked to be moved. when they were moved their new room was absolutely fine. If you go to this resort and are not satisfied with your room, ask to be moved because there are nicer rooms. The buildings need a paint job and look run down. This was a fun trip as the Weather was great and the people were friendly, however we will try a new resort next time.

Enjoyable Vacation

Rooms weren't anything special and the beds were a little bit hard but the location of our room was right between the beach and the pool; everything was a short walk away. The food in the buffet was not good, I highly recommend booking your a la carte's as soon as you arrive or earlier if possible. Taking a cab in to town for your dinner's was our preferred option.

Beautiful people,service hotel and beach

Our first time to travel to Cuba, we had a good time, especially my husband that love the History "Che", he act more than the locals how he knows him by heart. Services of the staff was excellent though they are not fluent in speaking english. We tried speak to them in Spanish, which we have a bit background simple language

No Wi-Fi? No Problem!

Arenas Doradas is a lovely resort where you can spend time relaxing, away from technology, daily duties and the chaos of real life. Resort staff for the most part are knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. Beach front is beautiful and has enough free to use non-motorized vehicles and beach chairs to lounge on. Nightly entertainment is fun, light hearted and at times mesmerizing depending on the show (Aquatic Dance show is a highlight). Coffee bar is critical to being able to wake up after daytime [... read more]/night time drinking. Buffet restaurant has a diversity of food every day so on a typical 7-day stay, it is unlikely you will get bored, however, you may still want to rent a moped or take a taxi into the Varadero township to eat fresh lobster, check out the local markets for souvenirs and visit the many bars and marinas to get the most out of Cuban tourism. Excursions are available at cost. Overall excellent value for the price we paid with almost nothing to complain about. Came back home feeling refreshed and happy with our sunny, lazy, all inclusive stay at Arenas Doradas.

Excellent resort for the price!

This hotel was great! The rooms were always cleaned before noon with a beautiful little creation that the maid created from a towel. The staff is very friendly and courteous. People always complain about the food in Cuba, but I thought this resort had a really great variety...I especially loved the buffet they set up by the beach, so fresh and delicious! I met quite a few groups of people who've been to the resort more than 10 times and absolutely love it. Great Vacation

Even though under construction and rainy season, all in all excellent service, good food, staff friendly and helpful. Nice to see the injection of money coming into resort to hopeful make it a 5 star.

A wonderful vacation

My 2 daughters and I stayed at this resort for a week Oct 20 to 27th. We had a wonderful time. Our room was lovely and clean, the resort as a whole was clean and well kept, beach absolutely beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The buffet restaurant was good and you can always find something you like. The seafood and the International A La Carte Restaurants were very good. Overall, we were very satisfied.

Excellent vacation

Awesome beach, personal very friendly, clean rooms, we stayed from Sep 11 to 18th sunshine every day, great entertainment, just want to go back :) We have met people from China, Italy, Germany and all of them have the same opinion about beach,water,friendliness...

Extremely disappointing!!!

Thank god for the sun and the beach....food was worst than awful (no variety, no lettuce, no tomatoes hotdogs were mush while burgers were always undercooked)go to foods were pasta and eggs on toast. Two double beds pushed together for a kingsize, very blah room. Pool had mold everywhere around edges and pool bar.

Nice Resort.

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.)We had a 2 week stay Feb 2014, the grounds were very well kept, there were always staff looking after the grounds. The washrooms were well kept, the rooms were OK. We just needed a place to sleep and the bed was a 2 singles which was weird but worked out. The room was cleaned everyday. Fashion show was awesome and the nightly entertainment was also good. I found this resort a little to far from Varedaro and would have liked to stay abit closer so we could have walked after dinner etc. The old cars were awesome, my husband really loved seeing and riding in them. They were always available when needing a taxi ride. The beach and the water was beautiful. Swam everyday. Loved it. I would go back to CUBA!!

Awesome Resort

We really enjoyed out stay at that resort. It was clean, the staff was amazing. The food was good. We are planning on returning in February 2015 with family and friends. We would recommend this resort with no hesitation. It is also a good resort for children. The show at the pool is excellent.

Beautiful little resort!

We really enjoyed our much needed vacation. The rooms were nice but newer beds would be really nice to see. We were close to everything. Pool was beautiful and always lots of chairs. The food was ok, but we expected that. We had a great time and Would definitely go again.

Simple and perfect!

The resort was clean, conveniently located and the grounds were stunning. The was my 8th trip to Cuba and although it wasn't the fanciest hotel, it was by far the one I enjoyed the most. The size of the resort was perfect for kids and the food in the buffet was great for Cuba.

Very nice beach (not enough huts) and pool

The beach and pool were very nice, exactly what we went for but not enough pool chairs or beach huts to go around. The rooms were below average and the food was bland, had to get use to the food as to what you liked. Did not like the birds flying around the food.

Great little hotel!

The beach was beautiful, the staff friendly and attentive, and the local musicians who played during the dinner hour were great. We liked the fact that the resort consisted of numerous small buildings with mature gardens and trees. The rooms were always clean and close to everything. The food was good but visitors must remember this is Cuba and they are still under embargo so they do not have access to everything other countries have.

Good for the money

The hotel was very clean and the staff wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. We went in late March and the misquotes were horrible. Alot of people were badly biten. Spraying would help. The food was good and service was excellent.

Good time at this resort

This was our first time to Cuba but not our last. We had an amazing time and the ROC Arenas Doradas was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the resort was clean and the food was good. The next time we go to Cuba we will be staying at the ROC.
