Good resort clean

Hotel is so so but beach was clean rooms are not good as used be before 4 years ago I was in the same resort no water supply in the no thermostat on air conditioners running countinousaly cockroach were on ground level room don't stay on floor level nobody provides proper information on reception you give tip then you proper service in restaurants I will not go there go to Cuba 5 star only

Nice Resort

Our room was a little dated but the beach the pool the grounds were Incredible. We had so much fun. The only thing I wish they would change is Having the bars open past 11:00! It was very painful to have to go to the Disco to get a drink.

Amazing does not cover how beautiful this place was

Everything was so grand , food was great . Maids did a terrific job keeping our rooms nice , hi 5 to Olga . There is nothing I can say about the place that wasn't good . Plans are to go back again . Cheers Morris & Edith

Amazing trip

First time time to this resort and I have been travelling for 10 years each year different place but this experience was truly amazing check in was quick when our safe didn’t have a door they quickly moved us actually upgraded to ocean view no extra charge our room was perfect with a beautiful view. The staff were so helpful and friendly! Our sunwing representative was very friendly and very funny and helpful! The shows were amazing! Best I have ever seen! Some real talent!! Food was delicious we never went hungry they could use some slushi makers and open up the swim up bar which hopefully they will in near future! Herbert and yasmire were exceptional! For our group involved in volleyball and exercising in pool they kept us laughing made us feel at home at all times!!! Really made our trip a memorable one never to forget will definitely be back in the future !! It will be like going home!!!

CUBAN 4 Stars

This resort recently changed management and lots of repairs were underway while I visited. The staff were clearly unhappy with the changes (it seemed). The woman who manages the beach towel hut was really, really, unhappy. Many of the rooms on the 1st level had dirty walls. Our first room had dirty walls, bloody sheets and stained chairs. When we were "upgraded" to a new room, it was cleaner on the 2nd floor, but the room didn't get cleaned every day and toilet paper was always in limited [... read more] supply during my week stay. The grounds itself are nice enough. The attached disco made it easy to have a "night out" without really having to go anywhere. The beaches are great, but the vistas from this resort are nothing special. Gin is only served at a few of the bars, not all. And servers were not allowed to bring you items from the coffee bar while you were seated at the main eating area. Minor inconvenience, but no big deal. The women's washroom in the main lobby was out of service 6/7 days I was there. Ridiculous.

Clean resort

Myself as well as my travel companions, were pleased with Muthu Playa Varadero. The proximity to everything was great. Most staff were extremely friendly. The food was fine and you could always find something. The International Ala cart was great. The rooms were clean and well serviced. 2 things that would make the resort even better and that would be water in fridges (we did ask and received 2 large bottles which were perfect for our stay) and some cosmetic work such as painting and patching.  [... read more]All in all it was well worth the money and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to that resort.

Beautiful

Everything was nice , except the bus . We landed and then bus came . I found the first step very high and I slipped on it getting up and so I tried again and hit my right leg again . Put 2 cuts on my leg . Some nice guy tried to help me and I eventually I did get on bus . I was in pain the whole time i was in Cuba. I went to hotel nurse . I had travel insurance on but was no good to me . I suffered it out . I talked to sun flight guy to ask for a different bus to go home in to the airport but [... read more] they said all bues was the same . I ended up getting a taxi which costed me $30.00 in cuba money to get to airport . . I went to Dr here at home and he wants me to go to hospital and have exray and ultrasound. Also antibiotics for infection . While I was there I was scared to go swimming . That ruined my trip . Everything else was fine

Good Resort

Would be a good resort with some scrubbing & painting, needs TLC. Beach is beautiful, lots of chairs, nice pool but no shade, rooms are a good size but not very clean, floor wasn't washed the whole week & had issued with getting clean towels, patio door really hard to open & never cleaned, too bad because they are nice spacious patios, service elsewhere at the resort front desk, restaurants, lobby bar was excellent. Food in cafeteria was quite good except for the coffee.

Cuba Virgin no more

After being warned about Cuban food and resorts being run down, I was impressed. The food was edible and changed daily but there's some things that stayed the same. Staff was always friendly. We had hot water everyday, no matter what time we showered. Rooms were clean. The beach was beautiful...though people have a tendency to go down in the early morning to throw towels on chairs under the palapas, and leave them there all day whether using them or not. Fun!

Good time, my friend and I went on reading week so there were a lot more 20-28 year olds. Very clean hotel however we had to repeatedly ask for new towels. Staff is very friendly. Pool and beach are also very nice.

Don’t recommend it!!!

Just returned from a 7 day stay and would not return to this resort. Let’s start with the rant… If you are looking for creature comforts here (like comfortable beds and clean beach loungers) you won’t find them here. Have been to Cuba before and know that the food is not the greatest but this was below standard even for Cuba!!! We always managed to get a clean, dry new beach towel each day. Unlike some other countries you will not be harassed by anyone trying to sell you a time share or other crap you don’t need or want. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained.

Nice resort....

This is our 2nd time at this resort. Nice clean resort, friendly staff, decent rooms, decent food, the beach, of course, is beautiful. Well-priced. Would return there again and again. Good bang for the buck.

Relaxing place

Relaxing solo vacation for me. Hot water only available in evenings. Water bottles never provided in room the whole trip. Staff is great so long as you tip them at the beginning of service. Had same server all week in evenings and she never refilled drinks or cleared plates. I couldn't sit anywhere else for a different server since I needed a a table for only 2. Entertainment was good. Had Orlando as server for breakfast and lunch and he was awesome! Friendly, attentive and funny! I will be back as in the end I had a great relaxing trip.

Beautiful beach

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel in less then a year. It's smaller then most resorts but I'm there for the beach. I had no problem with the staff found them to be very friendly. The food isn't a plus but there is always something to eat.

Run Down Resort

The resort was old and in desperate need of a renovation. Rooms had hot water but simple things as new towels everyday and bottled water everyday was non existent. The air conditioner leaked all the time and we had a pool of water on the floor and it had 2 settings only, off or artic. Food consists of A LOT of pork, with very few other options. Elevator out of service or malfunctioning the majority of the time. Beach was very nice, non motorized boats available. There were always plenty of beach chairs at the beach. The pool was clean and not crowded. Activities at the hotel during the week such as music, games etc. did not happen. They played a few games on the weekends, but nothing exciting. This was a very cheap trip, so you get what you pay for. If you want a nice resort with all the amenities, do not come here. Recommend this hotel only if you are on a very tight budget. I would not bring my kids here. Overall rating is 2.5 - 3.

3 to 3.5

If you are looking for a 5 star look elsewhere. This is a 3 to 3.5 just due to the building being a little seedy. The beach is fantastic and it does't take very long to get there from all the rooms. It is a smaller resort, so you are closer to everything, lobby bars, entertainment, etc. No swim up bar but there is a pool bar. The food was surprisingly good and had taste and tang. Good juice bar. Good Value

Went on a last minute trip with my cousin for a relaxing little girls getaway. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would probably return to the resort. It wasn't too big, which was nice because there were no lineups for anything. The lobby area was nice. When we were initially lead to our room, we were a bit scared because the hallways leading to the rooms were in disrepair. They badly needed patching, painting and a good cleaning. Our spirits were lifted when we went to the buffet for the first time - absolutely amazing. The bars were good. Yummy drinks. Nice pool, but needed a few tiles replaced. Good spot for kids. Amazing beach and lots of chairs, but only a handful of the "good" comfortable chairs so you have to get to the beach early. Always lots of spots around the pool though. Internet was great. Coffee bar was amazing. Italian a la carte was awful, but the international one was phenomenal. Staff generally friendly. Nobody bugging you to buy anything. I'm very happy with the price we paid for the service we received.

Great time with the family

The hotel wasnt too big which was good cause everthing was close by good was great my kids love it the food my the beach was great ate there everyday my room was clean my cleaning lady mary was really nice she always made designs with the towels i had fresh water everyday my kids loved the pool and the beach was beautiful made alot of really great friends they have to repair alot of things on the resort but they were definitely working on it i would definitely go back

Very good value!

MGM - Muthu. If you can get this resort at a good price (700-800) for a week, it is a very good value. The entire facility is well kept. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Entertainment was very good. Food was on par for Cuba. I would recommend this resort (at the right price) Also our Air Transat rep was fantastic. Nice resort

The beach is very nice. The rooms are a bit old and need some renovation, but the washrooms seem to have been redone. The buffet is good by Cuban standards. There is a coffee bar with very nice choices. The evening entertainment was good especially the water ballet and the tenors/sopranos. Staff is friendly and helpful.
