Easy to get beds round pool. Good service and very friendly staff. Room was good with lots of hot water and good pressure. Food was a bit hit and miss but always plenty to eat. Wasn't too busy which made everything easily available

Very comfortable, and absolute clean
Intimate space and on the smaller scale.... not far walks to enjoy all the amenities. Gorgeous white beach with plenty of seating.
Pool very comfortable.
dining mediocre, not enough variety but recession causes this.
My room dated and needed re fresh.
Evening entertainment terrible and repetitive.
Not enough Cuban live music to be found.

Amazing Resort!
We just arrived from Melia Cayo Coco on Sunday October 2,2022. This place is just amazing. Food is excellent, they even served delicious lobster on Cuban day, lots of seafoods and other selections of food. Cleanliness, friendly people and wonderful staff/employees are just a top notch. We will definitely go back again. Thank you Melia Cayo Coco!

Melia Cayo Coco
All ground areas are very well maintained, public areas such as front lobby, lobby bar, swimming pool area bar, swimming pool are nicely organized. Dining areas also very well maintained but observed roaches in the main buffet restaurant. Evening entertainments were excellent. Resort garden areas are nicely designed with different plants to attract birds and I enjoyed seen them and captured good photographed. Beach is clean and there too; I shot some nice shorebird pictures. I believe, mosquito [... read more]menace is a problem everywhere in Cuba.

Highly Recommend!
My girlfriend and I have both been to Cuba multiple times before, but we would highly recommend Cayo Coco and this resort to anyone thinking of taking the trip.
The beach was beautiful, white sand and tons of shade and chairs for everyone. It was fairly windy on the beach, but it was very hot during our one week stay so we welcomed the wind to keep us cool. The beach water was warm, but very refreshing as well. There was beach entertainment in the morning (bocce, volleyball, dancing lesson[... read more]s etc.) to keep us busy, then the entertainment moved to the pool in the afternoon which allowed for some time to relax. They had kayaks and paddle boats you can rent out as well. On one of our last days a resort worker offered to take us out snorkeling at a reef about 100 meters off the shore which was definitely a highlight of our trip.
The service was great plus the staff were all incredibly friendly and could speak English. The bartenders, waiters/waitresses, entertainers, and front desk staff were always willing to help and are very friendly.
The food was very good for a Cuban resort, especially in this post covid period. It is missing some of the brand names products we would normally get from the U.S. (ketchup etc.), but it did not make a big difference to us. We had heard from travelers to other resorts that there were shortages of foods and alcohol to many of the resorts in Cuba, but Melia Cayo Coco seemed to have no shortages at all. A variety of freshly cooked food at the buffet and fancier meals at the al a cartes kept us more than satisfied.
Our room was decent, but definitely not a highlight of the trip. We got the base level room and while it was nothing special, there were no major issues other than an air conditioning leak on our first day (which was fixed within 15 minutes of us reporting it to the front desk and the issue never happened again).
The resort itself was small which makes getting around everywhere a lot faster. There was evening entertainment which included dance shows and some excellent live music which was always a nice way to end the night.
Overall I would highly recommend this resort, especially to those looking for something smaller and quieter designed for relaxation. However, if you are looking for a resort with a younger crowd and a lot of partying, this may not be the best resort for you.

Always a great place anytime of the year
Once again the Melia Cayo Coco met all of our needs from a great beach and very nice clean room, good food, and wonderful entertainment. The grounds are impeccably kept by some of the best groundskeepers. All of the staff from attendants to management are very approachable with any questions or comments which are taken seriously and acted upon quickly. The resort is geared to a more quiet and laid back crowd, come and enjoy the tranquility of this smaller resort.

Excellent service, great vacation
MCC never disappoints. The most important asset are the staff. They go out of their way to ensure you have all you need. The grounds are meticulously kept. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The beach is beautiful and clean. We did find the food repetitive and not the selection we have seen in the past when staying here. However, given the current situation I’m Cuba it is understandable. We made the best of it.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great and relaxing resort
The hotel is outdated but the service is very good and very quiet, complete R&R. The staffs are highly commendable specially in the Buffett and specialty restaurant. The food is excellent most specially the a la carte restaurant. Special thanks to all the staffs in the buffet for great service. The room is well attended and always fresh and clean. The beach is the best part of the vacation. Great beach, great snorkelling. too. Overall excellent service from Melia Cayo Coco.

Ready to go back
Overall good experience. Slightly older resort with outdated rooms and furniture, but good service and decent food. It's a smaller resort which makes it easy and quick to get around, including the beach. The staff was very friendly and provided good service, the food is what you expect from Cuba. They have dinner you can book which provide a nice change from the buffet style. Overall I'd recommend the resort.

Beautiful resort!
Melia Cayo Coco is a beautiful adult only resort to enjoy a relaxing fun vacation.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating to make your vacation enjoyable. They take the COVID precautions serious always cleaning and sanitizing to ensure our safety. The only negative about this resort is the cats something needs to be done about them. Overall it is a great place to go to for a vacation! Reviews are correct about the closeness to the airport only 15 minutes. Check-in and customs went very smoothly. Thanks Melia for a great vacation. I look forward to returning to the Melia for another amazing vacation.

Good resort
We choose this hotel as it was the number one rated in Cayo Coco, the lobby of this resort is nice and the new furniture that was added while we were there was a bright, modern improvement. There is a nice bar by the pool and all of the amenities were close due to the size of the hotel. However the accomodations were very disappointing. We discovered cockroaches in our room and the water pressure in the very outdated showers was terrible. We were told they couldn’t fix it and offered a bott[... read more]le of rum. Our rooms were not stocked with water or toilet paper after the first couple of days! (basic necessities)
The food was decent, especially the beach grill at lunch. There were several nights that the single cook at the buffet was not able to keep up with cooking the meals despite the hotel being at 50% capacity. But this did make it easy to find spots at the pool and the beach. This was our first trip post Covid so we understand it takes time to work the kinks out. The beach is amazing and was cleaned daily and all of the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Overall our experience was positive but still some attention to the details would've made it even better.

Nice resort, good food
Melia Cayo Coco June 2-9. Traveled as a couple, both in our early 60’s. Flew with Air Canada Rouge, flight was on time going, delayed in Montreal coming home, no free meals on flight but was able to purchase something on board. Customs in Cayo Coco was easy and smooth. While flying into Cayo Coco you receive a tourist card, once filled out this card is presented to the customs officer upon arrival. In years past they would keep one half of of the card and the other half you were responsible to[... read more] hold on to it for your return flight. This time around it was different, we received the card back in its entirety from customs. Keep this card with your passport for your return flight home, customs will then keep the card at the time of departure. The resort is probably a fifteen minute drive by car, but by bus with one stop along the way it was more like 30-35 minutes. As far as Covid is concerned we did not experience any problems or delays. We had to wear our masks on the plane. We had our ArriveCAN completed and ready for customs etc, at the airport it was glanced at quickly but never scanned. Check in at the Melia was easy but like at most hotels our room was not ready, (we arrived around 3:00pm). We went for a late lunch, had a couple of beers and checked back later, no big deal. We had what they called an updated room, building 64xx, all white painted furniture including a rocking chair. Our room was kept very clean, we believe the bed sheets were changed every day as were the towels if requested. Sheets and towels were super white which the Mrs really appreciated. We had a king sized bed which was super comfortable! The AC worked perfect, we had absolutely no musty odour in our room, the kind of odour you can sometime run into occasionally at some hotels down south. As indicated on here the staff are very friendly and want to ensure your stay is a pleasurable one. We appreciate this very much, however we never expect hotel / buffet / restaurant staff to cater to us so much that we get bent out of shape if every little detail is not carried out by them, we do have two feet and a heart beat and are capable of getting out of our own way to get or do somethings for ourselves instead of them waiting on us hand and foot. There were mosquitoes, however, we did not get bitten even though we did not use bug spray. We did notice some people had some nasty bites, so probably it’s a good idea to take bug spray with you especially if your prone to bites. During our one week stay we did see someone with a contraption on his back spray for the pesky insects every evening. On our last two days there was a low flying airplane that would circle the hotel grounds numerous times early in the morning spraying, not sure what chemical they were using but I honestly don’t think it was an overly powerful substance because there were mosquitoes around mostly every day anyway. We spent our days at the beach which is beautiful. The water was warm and that nice light teal colour because of the white sand. I wanted to ask but forgot as to why the sand is not one bit hot like on some other beaches where you have a hard time walking on it barefoot. We never had a problem getting chairs at the beach, sometime we had to walk a bit further because we arrived later which was no big deal. We have been traveling south for over 30 years, I would have to say the food at this hotel is definitely one of the best we’ve had. For the first time ever I hadn’t craved anything to eat from home. We ate at the three different a le carte restaurants (same dining area for all three) and enjoyed each one very much. On our last day we discovered the ice cream booth / stand which is open daily from 11-5 just off the lobby, nice treat to help cool off. Every thing was good and we had a great week at the Melia Cayo Coco with only a couple of minor things…….We knew this was a quiet resort geared more towards people who want to relax and have things low key, we enjoy this type of resort that’s why we chose the Melia. However, we did wish the entertainment in the evening was more varied and in some cased extended. We always enjoyed the singer in the evening but found it to be a very short show, usually only a hand full of songs. The nightly shows put on by the animation team were very good, lots of high energy and a brilliant display of talent, but too repetitive in our opinion. The Michael Jackson show was supposed to be held one night during our stay but got canceled for some reason, we were really looking forward to that show and it would have broken up the regular dance show. As mentioned WiFi is free and the speed is good for what we needed anyway. The one annoying thing about this is the LONG and unnecessary user name and password required EVERY time you want to get on your device. A SIMPLE password would surely suffice here in our opinion. These are minor things but I felt they needed to be mentioned again, I know many others have already mentioned some of these things, I just wanted to reiterate. To wrap up I’ll say “good job Melia Cayo Coco†keep up the GREAT quality and service. We would highly recommend this resort.

Great little resort
This resort was a great little resort for us, but I know it may not be for everyone.
My wife and I are in our 40s and traveled with 2 other couples at the end of April. This is a small resort (250 rooms) about 15 min. from the airport (bonus). We could always find one another if we were apart as this was the smallest resort we had been to. All restaurants and bars were all within a couple of min. walk from everything else. The beach has plenty of space and the sand is not hot to the touch. It[... read more] was always windy so no frisbee throwing. If you are into snorkelling for fish, this is not the beach for you. All sand no rocks.
This resort is older as we could see from the rooms inside the bungalows. There are no hotel style accommodations (another big plus for us). Water pressure was weak, but we made due (never complained about it). This was not the case with the rooms our friends stayed in.
This was not a party resort and the average age was probably in the 50's. We departed on May 1st and there were bus loads of young adults arriving that coincided with the end of universities in Canada. Coincidence?
The food was very good for Cuba and we enjoyed the a-la-carts, but not comparable to other resorts outside Cuba. I loved the lobby bar as it was spacious and over the high ceiling and open to the air. We could always find a seat or a cabana by the pool or beach as it was the off season. This place was not crowded.
While this is not a resort comment, we had perfect weather and no rain our entire week at the resort. 29 degrees C by day, 23 degrees by night.
We enjoyed our time at the resort.

Lovely resort
This was our first time to this resort. It’s only 15 minutes from the airport. From leaving the aircraft to arriving in our room was very smooth. I had reserved our à la cartes ahead of time online, and, while I didn’t receive the promised email confirmation, our reservations had been made.
Small touches make a difference : staff was over the top friendly and attentive, the coffee was always piping hot, and all the public area washrooms were always immaculate.
We could usually find [... read more]a palapa on the beach, but folks do tend to do the early morning towel run to reserve a spot. Annoying but hard to avoid.
We tipped in Canadian currency, and were almost always able to get bills changed into loonies and toonies (one and two dollar Canadian coins) at the bar.
We had a renovated room, which seems to mean new shower instead of a tub, which was fine with us. Lots of hot water, pressure was ok. The only toiletries supplied were good sized bottles of shampoo and shower gel. I had been hoping for body lotion - so bring your own if you need it. But in fact, most of the day and night, we were slathered in sunscreen or bug repellant - the resort is on a lagoon, it will be buggy. Always. We were disappointed not to find coffee or a coffee maker in the room. Had I known, I would have brought my little one-cup filter and coffee - but the pool snack bar is open 24/7, so not really an issue.
We love to snorkel, and there really isn’t anywhere off the beach to do so. Our Air Canada rep arranged for us to join a group that left from the next door Pullman resort. For $25.00 CDN you are taken by boat to a reef not too far out for an hour. Absolutely well worth it.
There was always something tasty to eat, though this place had the same odd shortages as other resorts in Cuba. No jam at breakfast- bring your own if it’s important.
We went to the gym one morning. There are bikes, treadmills, the usual equipment, and, while there is a fan, it’s not very effective.
As for Covid, we were told on arrival that all staff were masked, and guests were requested to mask in public areas and when interfacing with staff. Guests who we saw were quite compliant, perhaps a bit on/off in the semi-open lobby area. I brought rapid test kits to the medical building, where I was told they were happy to have them to continue testing staff.
Overall, a satisfying visit. So happy be back in Cuba!

Beautiful beach, friendly staff, good food
Room 3 star, rooms are old but clean. Broken toilet seat was repaired within 1/2 day. Twice we lost water pressure so we could not shower. Sliding doors were broken. Bed was very firm but good.
Beach 4.5 star, beautiful sand. Beautiful bay 0.5km down beach.
Catamaran's (hobie cat) are very old and broken, but usable. Cuban government doesnt maintain them. They desperately need fiberglass resin and any parts for a 15 foot hobie (jib sheets, sail repair kits, forestay, bridle wires, any cables[... read more] etc).
Food: some deserts are very good, some cakes tend to be very dry and tasteless. Ice cream was good (dont expect regular vanilla). Any steak or beef is very tough and leather like. Chicken, pork, pasta and some vegtables are very good. Omelettes are excellent. Buffet restaurant had lots of variety, cuban restaurant beside beach was very good for lunch or dinner, international restaurant was very good.
Staff are always friendly. Many staff speak good english, many dont understand english. People tend to give lots of tips and gifts to staff. So staff are wealthy compared to the average cuban resident. Tipping is best done in canadian bills. Loonies accepted but they try to sell them back to tourists for clean unmarked bills. They gratiously accept older unlocked cellphones that are in very good condition. They gratiously accept bathroom products like toothpaste, soap, kids tooth brushes etc.
Covid. All staff wear masks. 2 of 4 in our group caught covid at the resort and felt symptoms on the last day there. Buffet is not self serve due to covid.
Entertainment was ok. Cat lovers will love many free roaming cats on the premises that add a special atmosphere.

Great first trip at MCC
This was our first trip to the Melia Cayo Coco. It lived up to the reviews we read on Trip Advisor.
Although small (250 rooms), and somewhat dated, it was well staffed, with amazing service. Plenty of options to eat with three A La Cartes, buffet, beach restaurant and the 24 hour poolside snack bar. The rooms were spacious and clean. We hope to return in the fall.

Great Resort
Can't say anything negative about this resort. The food was good and the service excellant. The Cubans were very strict about masking and Covid procedures while inside.
However, the tourists, about 95% Canadians were very lax when they they could be and both my wife and I tested positive for Covid upon our return to Canada.

Love this resort!
The Melia Cayo Coco didn't disappoint. If you are looking for a small adults only resort this is should be on your list of resorts to visit. On top of the clean and convenient layout, the amazing beach, with the best food we have had in Cuba, the staff make this resort the best in all of Cuba. If you are looking for a late night party location, this is not the best option for you.

Nice resort but serious water problems
The hotel was very clean, food was decent and staff overall was very friendly and the beach was AMAZING. However, we had major issues with our shower and getting our bottled water. Most days the shower had a very weak spray and was super hard to regulate. It was either scalding hot or cold; spent a lot of time trying to regulate it and when you finally did, the pressure was almost gone and down to a dribble. You had to remove it from the wall and lower it almost to the bottom of the tub so[... read more] gravity could help get some water flowing.
Absolutely no way you could have washed and rinsed your hair, had to use the sink several times for this. We asked to have it fixed 4 times and the repair man would come in, turn on the shower and if water came out, he did nothing else. I even took a video to show customer service, she apologized but nothing changed. We were supposed to get bottled water every day but that didn't happen and we were almost out. I would have gladly picked it up myself but that wasn't an option. We called Customer service and asked at the main lobby desk and nothing. We spoke with a maid the next day and she had someone at our room within an hour. We paid a lot of money to stay at this resort and honestly didn't feel it was money well spent

Beautiful resort
Had a wonderful stay at this resort. Staff so very friendly.
Food was great. The Cuban food was amazing.
Only little downfall , our room card would not work. They came to fix it in good time. Had trouble with it on and off for the week. We managed.
As for Covid protocol, they did everything very well. Masking while at the buffet. All staff wore mask at all times.
