Funny you should ask??

Room 1328 filled with god dammed bed begs - I have over 80 bites on my body!!! Spraying lanacain, drinking apple cider vinegar and dabbing tea tree oil to get rid of the itch!!! Through my clothes out, luggage out - everything. Monday night 7:57 pm, we got back home Saturday morning. Itchy like hell! No, would not recommend this hotel.

Amazing resort

Very nice resort with lots of palms, big garden, clean and very friendly staff. Customer service was amazing. Rooms are decent for what you pay. Good family resort. Food was good with lots of meals to choose from.

Awesome resort....2nd visit...won't be my last either!!!

I absolutely love this resort, I was there in July 2015 for the 1st time and knew I'd be back. Just returned Sept. 16th, 2016 after 1 glorious week...had a little bit of rain but nothing that really caused much grief. The food was great, although I do find the buffet does become a little repetitive, however, there are so many choices so it makes it easy to change things up. The rooms are always clean and beautiful, we did have some trouble with air conditioning in the first room we were a [... read more]ssigned....and after a very horrible experience with an awful man in customer service by the name of Joaquin, who threatened to call the police on my 64 year old Aunt and my 52 year old, partially disabled self...for what he felt was aggression from us....really?....while complaining...this after being lied to by him over the phone about the air .....anyway....the man was disgraceful...doesn't belong at the resort....I really missed Mary who was there last year in customer service!! Joaquin needs to find another line of work....customer service is not for him.....he even used the F bomb while speaking to us!! I was in shock....ended up in tears...after a 6:45am flight in from Canada...a good 3 - 4 hour wait for a room that didn't have air conditioning ..... I needed to have a central location room due to my disabilities which made things a little harder in placing is unfortunately. Finally, the front desk manager, unfortunately I cannot remember her name...Maryilou....maybe?....a beautiful, tall, dark thin young woman couldn't have been more concerned and helpful. She had us moved to a perfect location....a beautiful suite of all things!!...had a bed moved in for us and we were set!!! Another wonderful vacation spent at the Melia Cayo Guillermo!!! Right now...it is my favorite place on earth and I can't wait to go back!!

Very Relaxing!

First and foremost, I would like to thank Eliana at Tripcentral for being the best travel agent I have ever worked with. The flight via Air Transat to Melia Cayo Guillermo was very smooth. We were greeted with a very friendly smile at the front reception upon arrival. Our room was not ready upon arrival but was quickly resolved within an hour which gave us some time to relax and have a drink while we waited. We were given a beautiful room on the third floor with a very beautiful view [... read more]. We realized however that because we are in our mid 50's that the high floors were a little difficult to deal with. We went back to the front desk and advised them and we were given a ground floor room the next day. The staff at Melia Cayo Guillermo were all very friendly. They made you feel like at home and with family. The grounds were beautiful, the pool was amazing and of course what can you say about the beach...SIMPLY BREATH TAKING :-) The entertainment staff (Edel and Lazaro) were always encouraging the guests to participate in different activities all day. They work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. Best foot massage ever during aqua gym. The servers in the buffet (Yani, Tony) were always there for what ever we needed. The juice maker (I'm sorry I cant remember his name) always had a banana/papaya smoothie for me each morning. The mosquitos were really bad but it comes with the time of year being very hot during the day and a slight shower early evening...just bring bug spray. I was greeted by customer service (Juanquino) the night before we were leaving in the lobbly as I was using the internet to advise my family of how much fun we are having...he was very kind to take the time to find out how our stay was. I arrived back home and found an email from customer Service at the Melia Cayo Guillermo thanking me for staying there and that if I had any concerns or questions that I could contact them a anytime. Overall our stay during Sept 9-16 was amazing...I cant wait to go back! I would definitely recommend this place to all my family and friends here in Toronto Canada. Grace

Beautiful

This resort was amazing overall! Beds are hard though. the staff were always happy! Definitely would recommend to all! Water is crystal clear and sand bottom. Rooms are big and AC is nice and cold

Wonderful resort

We were lucky to visit when the resort was fairly quiet. Grounds, room and beach were clean. We asked for a room in the upper level near the beach, but we got a room in the bungalow group which is near the beach and we were happy with that. The toilet would not flush and a light bulb was out, but they were fixed right away after we called Customer Service, and they followed up within a few hours to find out whether the problem was solved. I must say that the buffet bar i [... read more]s very small compared to other resorts we have stayed, but food was sufficient and because the place is not crowded, we did not have to line up for food. The last time we were there, we had to line up for food. We have visited this resort before and we went back because we love fishing off the long pier. We caught a lot of fish and gave them to the local people who were fishing there.

Beautiful resort

Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice selection of food. Garden is well looked after and beach is very clean. There is a doctor's office as well. Toilet did not flush, and one of the light bulb was out. We called customer service and staff came to fix the problems right away. Customer service follow-up with a telephone call to find out whether the problems have been looked after. Its a great Resort

The hotel was very clean. The room was nice, the maid was very friendly and looked after our needs. The fridge was restocked with drinks every day. We had bathrobes and beach towels in the room. The food was very good and plentiful. The specialty restaurants were great, especially the international restaurant. Service was excellent, the entertainment was great. Most of the staff spoke English and French. We felt very comfortable and relaxed. We are planning on going back again.

Beautiful resort

This resort was fantastic. Beautiful grounds great staff and the most amazing beach I have ever seen. The food was good , having been too Cuba several times this was the most comfotuble resort size wise, everything is well laid out . Check in was quick and welcoming. usually after a week I'm ready to go home ,but not this time , I was very sad to leave this beautiful place ! Great Getaway

Loved the resort and the beach was amazing. The only real negatives were the rooms could use some updating but everything worked great and most of the staff were great and very accommodating and helpful.

Great Resort! Needs some TLC

There are many things making this resort a great spot. The grounds are well-kept and quaint, the beach is stunning, the staff are kind, the AC in the rooms was well-functioning, the water pressure was great, the entertainment staff were determined to make sure everyone was having a good time. The drinks were okay; many tasted watered down, especially those with fruit juice in them. There was no fresh juice on the resort, all from concentrate. The quality of the drinks was also inconsistent from  [... read more]bar to bad, but once you figured out which bartender made which drinks well, you were set. The grounds are gorgeous, the buildings look tired. The beds were uncomfortable at best and the sheets had some stains and cigarette holes. There were also no clocks in the rooms (or anywhere on the resort, really) which is unfortunate considering how many things (meal times, shows) on the resort are based on arriving on time. The food left a lot to be desired. There was perceivable variety but many choices lead to intestinal discomfort for many of the travelers we were with. The fruit, fresh rolls and pastas were lovely. The desserts were attractive but bland. The gym was locked a few times at 7am when it alledgedly opens. All in all: this resort is not super luxurious but could be with a coat of paint, better beds and bedding and some better food options. If you come with snacks from home and reasonable expectations, your vacation will be wonderful.

Needs Improvements

Rooms: Clean but need updating. Sporadic hot water, water pressure and air conditioning need immediate attention. Grounds well maintained. Beach: Best ever! Pool has a liner?? Staff: Excellent Food: Adequate

Beautiful beach

The good stuff: The beach was beautiful. The ocean was an amazing blue. The snorkling was half decent. You could walk out a long ways before the water got deep. There was a lovely, long pier with shaded areas and benches. The pool was nice. The staff was amazing and did their best to make everything great. They asked us to fill out a survey on our second day there. That same day they were trying to fix anything that wasn't right, other than the mattresses. Lovely Resort

We had an okay stay, however the food this year was not as good as in previous years. No softdrinks available in rooms after 2nd day, apparently a problem with the supplier. The beach was beautiful and a trip to Pillar Beach was wonderful. The rooms are tired, but understand major renovations are taking place. Recommend more chairs at the beach and shaded spots.

A second home for repeat guests

As a repeat guest I know what Im getting at this beautiful resort, with new ideas on the rise, old friends, beautiful beaches and great food, what can I say. Ana and Denise make the place fun, Hosea willing to do the extras in the International, Jesus in the Italian, always accommodating, linet and Maria front desk always helpful to answer any question, Lazaro, security, very professional, always helpful. Mayalin, cant help to stop by for a drink on the way to the beach, Sammy the life guard, wa [... read more]tches so intently for issues on the beach. There are so many reasons to return, and I hope that new people will enjoy as much as I have, as it has become my home and I only visit Canada, ha ha!

Beautiful beach

We had a great 7 day stay. The rooms were dated but comfortable and clean. The food was good. Lots of choices. The grounds and pool areas were pleasing. The beach is awesome! We enjoyed sunrises, sunsets and long walks on this all sand beach

Some changes

This was our third visit to this resort. Serving staff were great. Customer service staff not so much. It took an hour to check in. We all wondered "were they surprised we were here?" Then we went to the snack bar to get something to eat. One staff to serve everyone, and the cook could only cook one sandwich at a time. A sad introduction to the resort, and to Cuba. Other issues were that our terrace door did not lock. The food was a disappointment. Breakfast was good, lunch was OK, but by the time we got to dinner, it was difficult to find something at all appealing. The beach was no longer "raked", which meant it was difficult to walk along the beach. A lot of seaweed. However, it is still Cuba. The sky is blue, the palm trees are beautiful, the ocean is amazing, and the pool is wonderful. The servers were friendly, and helpful. The gardens are lovely.

Amazing beach!

Third time at this hotel. The beach is stunning, ideal for families with children, the water is shallow and crystal clear, a true paradise .Everything is within walking distance, if you will forget something in your room you do not have to wait for the golf cart to take you there like in other huge resorts. Some problems

Nice small place that's what we wanted but room had no hit water and no air conditioning they offered another room was worst. They ended up sending us to another hotel. Nice but a very large resort which we did not want to do so disappointed tainted us on Cuba and Melia operations

Just ok!

My boyfriend has been to this resort many times and always loved it. Unfortunately the resort is showing its age, the beach was once beautiful but was not kept up while we were there. It is under new management and most of the old staff has moved on. The service has gone down hill. Two couples who travelled with us were without hot water or air conditioning all week. Even after moving rooms.
