Great Vacation!

This was our first all inclusive beach vacation together and the we are very happy of our resort choice! If you are looking for a place to stay with a lot of selection you have made the right choice. From the Puerto Plata airport it is an easy 45min shuttle ride. The resort is massive! If you are interested in going to other parts of it you can take a free shuttle that are constantly running from all the lobbies of the attached sister resorts. There are a lot of stairs to climb to get to and from your room, beach, restaurant, pools, etc. You will most likely be climbing 20 flights of stairs every day. The service throughout the resort is fantastic! All of the staff were very helpful from the bellboys to the landscapers. There weren't many employees bothering you for a tip and they would still be courteous if you don't tip at every meal and bar. At the resort, you have over 10 swimming pools to choose from, the majority with a staffed bar. If you are interested in the hustle and bustle pools the main ones are good for you. There are also many others that are more secluded where you can relax without being interrupted by loud music and party goers. It was easy to find a lounge chair at all the pools with a shaded area. That being said, there are a lot of VIP only areas such as pools, beaches, bars, and restaurants that you won't be allowed into. We thought next time it would be worth it to upgrade to VIP. The beach was pretty standard. There was a gated beach exclusive to the resort with plenty of lounge chairs to choose from and some covered beach beds that you can use as long as you get to them first in the morning. Resort security were constantly watching the beach as it turns public on one side of it. There were only a handful of vendors on it and once you said no to whatever they were selling they wouldn't bother you again. We were fairly impressed with the quality of food offered at the resort. You can eat at two buffets The Palms at Cofresi and Casablanca at the adjoining resort the Tropical. Casablanca is by far thebetter buffet. It is larger, nicer architecture, and the food seemed to be a bit better. The a la carte's are ok. Nothing incredible or outstanding. The best one we ate at was the Mexican a la carte. All in all, Cofresi is worth it! With the lovely pools, good food and great service we would go back in a heartbeat.

Great Time

This is the second time we have been to this resort and it was a great both times. Staff is friendly and food is good. The disco is a good place if you want to party at night. The pools are always clean and a good place to hang out.

Great resort

Resort was very clean in general, sadly tourist dont help it. Good room, great people, funny, always ready to help. food was good but buffet are boring at one point... activities sold at the hotel are not that expensive, but REALLY fun!

Really great resort

It was our first all inclusive resort experience and we were very pleased with the place and everything! Rooms are ok, bed sheets and towels are clean, excellent room service, really great pool and good looking resort! Sea is a bit wavy but overall it was a great week !! ☺️ We did had some trouble with the food but I think we just have fragile stomach... I know the tap water isn’t good there but I’m sure there are better ways to reduce the plastic waste a bit at least!

Bon rapport qualité/prix!

Bon choix de resort ! La nourriture est très bonne et variée. Les restaurants à la carte Rodizio (brésilien), l'Indochine (asiatique) et le Trapiche (mexicain) sont excellents ! Les piscines sont nombreuses et entretenues. La végétation est superbe. Les chambres régulières pourraient être rafraîchies. Les marches sont un enjeu pour les personnes à mobilité réduite. Bon choix en général.

Amazing Time

I can truly recommend this resort. Definetly best time spended with my fiance and 1.5 year old son :) you don't need leave resort and will be busy all the time. We will come back in future. Thanks for great service. Cheers

Disappointed

As my husband and I have been booking our vacations for the past six years with Tripcentral, we were very disappointed with the response of our problems with this resort, it was the first time we had any problems with our vacation and were expecting a quick response, but was only answered when we were back from our trip. This resort could be an okay vacation spot if problems were dealt with. When we arrived in our rooms we noticed a foul smell which was coming from the pipes outside our rooms, [... read more] good thing was is that we did not smell it once we were in our room. We had no air conditioning in our room, (was 26C in our room our whole vacation), no hot water. There were so many stairs and inclines, so if you have immobility problems do not go, also very difficult for families with strollers. I would also recommend that you avoid A-la-Carte restaurants, as the two we ate at, my husband and brother-in-law got sick, also was told by others that they did also, stick to the buffet if you do go. On that, I must say that the pools, beaches and the entertainment during the day was fantastic, shout out to Julio Nice, Mosquito, Chichi, Champion and Superman. We did go to the front desk, guest services and our contact for Transat, Freddie, about our room problems, not a thing was done. I also sent an e-mail to TripCentral and only received a response the day after we returned home.

Bitterly Disappointing

My wife & I decided to vacation this year in the Dominican Republic with my wife's sister and her husband (B&L) as a result of their enthusiastic recommendations. Unfortunately the resort they usually book with wasn't available, but we found an opening at the Cofresi Palm Beach Resort at a very attractive price, so made a booking there instead. We noted there was an option to upgrade the room when we made the booking through TripCentral, but the basic room looked very pleasant in the photos, so  [... read more]we didn't bother. We should have. The first thing we noticed when we arrived at our rooms was a foul septic smell permeating the air in the immediate area coming from improperly sealed 12" pipes laid in a concrete trench close by our building. Once inside the room, we turned the "air conditioning" on full and set the thermostat to 16 degrees Celsius and tried unsuccessfully to turn the ceiling fan up from a lazy slow-motion waltz to something a little more energetic. My wife then went to turn on one of the bedside lights -- and received a strong shock from an exposed bulb-switch. My sister- and brother-in-law had similar problems with their air conditioning, and also no hot water in their sink or shower. We reported the problems to the front desk, to Guest Services, to Trip Central and to the AirTransat rep and eventually returned to our room to find the ceiling fan turning a lot faster and the room a little cooler, but certainly nowhere near 20 degrees, let alone 16. The cord of the bedside lamp was now laid across the night-table with an inline switch added into it. B&L had no such luck with their A/C and had to move their bed under the ceiling fan to get some relief from the heat. On a couple of occasions when it rained hard, water poured from the bathroom ceiling in both rooms. B&L did report patchy periods when there was warm water in their shower, but basically the rooms stayed the same way for the remainder of our 10-day stay, despite calls from the front desk to assure us they were working on the issues and requests to give the A/C time to "get up to speed". As well, the clothes iron in our room didn’t work. It's a shame about the extremely substandard rooms, because the rest of the resort has much to recommend it, including decent food and wonderful staff, if you don't mind climbing interminable steps everywhere to get to where you're going, and notwithstanding the fact that my wife cut her foot on a piece of glass in one of the pools.

Very Good Resort

The Cofresi Palm Beach Resort is a physically challenging resort with lots of steps although a very beautiful one. Best feature was the beach - lots of space, and no problem getting loungers. Food was very good as well - buffets were excellent although we found the Casa was better than the Pearl. Our first room had no water and we moved the next day to another which was nice although the ceiling in the bathroom continued to leak from upstairs. Maintenance came and cleaned up quickly. Great hot water and air conditioner worked fine. Shuttles were necessary to get around this large resort - although you sometimes felt you did nothing but drive around on shuttles. Staff were not particularly friendly or helpful - probably because they did not speak English. My reason for not recomending this resort relates to 2 things: 1) difficult for seniors to navigate even when mobile 2) the hard sell for membership which wasted 2 hours of first day

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort

If you have mobility issues - do NOT go to this resort. If you have children in strollers - do NOT go to this resort. From the majority of rooms, there are 69 stairs to climb to get to the bar or 50 to get to the restaurant. The shuttle buses only run every 25 minutes and they are disgusting - cracked seats, doors open with ropes. The standard rooms are not very clean and very dated. We had no dresser in our room in which to store our clothes and we were there for 12 days. The mini bar is f [... read more]illed ONCE, before you arrive, so don’t except replenishments every day. Wifi is NOT included and neither is the safe. Our fridge was so coated with ice, the door would not close and we constantly had water on the floor. The majority of the rooms face the winding pathway that is used for the shuttle buses, the workers and all their vehicles and the golf carts that are used by the VIP guests and it is extremely noisy. Good things - service by the buffet staff (Pearl) was excellent for the most part. Other staff members of the resort eat in this restaurant and they could be pushy and arrogant at times. The life guards at the pools were a nice touch. Everything at this resort is outside, so when it rains, you will get wet. The only bar open at night is right beside the main pool - but out in the open. Transat labels this resort as a 4 star, but it is more like a 2 star.

Very bad resort!

The resort was very dirty, the rooms you see online are not the rooms you receive, to have the rooms online you have to pay an upgrade which costs 20$ USD per person per night the rooms we're also disgusting and very old. Food is poisonous you most likely will get food poisoning, no wifi what so ever you have to pay 70$ USD for one week of wi-fi from 6am to 8pm also nobody cares for your needs for example, you will have very early check out you wait 4 hours in the lobby you cannot use anything f [... read more]rom the resort because they cut your bracelet, I also waited an hour for towels and I called multiple times and they always said someone will be there soon and they're wasn't any hot water, the sheets we're dirty, the ceiling in the bathroom was falling down. If you still decide to go to this hotel I suggest you buy the upgrade, I personally wouldn't go there for me it's not even worth 2 stars. If you are looking to have a good vacation stay away from this hotel!!!!

Huge resort

The hotel was nice, lots of space for many guests, room was musty and the ceiling leaked in the bathroom, air conditioner leaked in the bedroom. The a la carts were delicious, especially the Bellini! The shuttle was a handy way to get around , there were many stairs not good if accessibility is an issue.

Beautiful Resort!

Hotel and grounds very well maintained. Our room was spotless. Beaches and public areas clean. Helpful staff. Buffet had many delicious choices. Seafood dinner at The Blue Lagoon was amazing! Overall a great destination.

Enjoyed our stay!

We enjoyed our stay. The resort was well kept, our room was clean and house keeping the staff was great! There was entertainment near the lobby every night, buffets both at the Palm and the Tropical were fantastic. We didn't get to try all the resturants, there's a nice selection. My only complaint was that check in was slow. Cofresi Palm is larger and has lots of stairs but the adjoining resort the Tropical is equally beautiful and quite accessible.

Beautiful resort

Beautiful resort, extra friendly staff, ok food, water was rough on the beach, watch out for the people that tries to sell you a timeshare. Hotel caters more to their vip guests. If you want a cabana on the beach, you have to be an early bird.

Fantastic vacation

We had an amazing time at Cofresi resort. The food was amazing, a la carte were delicious, grounds were beautiful, drinks were endless and such a friendly atmosphere. Con's would be lots of stairs for those who have mobility issues, or lots of walking we didnt mind it but it could be an issue if your perhaps your a senior. I am definitely heading back.

Okay resort

We had a lot of fun at this resort Definitely not a family resort as there was a bunch if drunken idiots throughout the day..... but our daughter wasn't with us, so it wasn't a terrible inconvenience. I would not return again.

Amazing resort!

Dear Jennifer: Everything was great. Even the air travel was smooth. Only thing is I was sick almost the whole time we were there. Had nothing to do with the hotel. I was sick the day before we left. That's why it was just so nice to visit the different pools, bars & restaurants. Although I enjoyed the pools the most. And yes there is a lot of walking, that's why I picked Cofresi. There was one older lady with a cane walking up a set of stairs. Hope she made it. Lots of stairs [... read more]. But yes I will go back. Maybe next year when I feel better.

Disappointed

Your website is very deceiving the rooms all looked so beautiful & when we opened the door to our room we were very disappointed in our room as it was less than motel quality , had to be moved because of a bad leak in the bathroom ceiling, New room was bigger & a bit of an upgrade maybe 2 stars but couldn’t sit out on the patio because of the sewer smell , the buffet food was not great at all & nothing was hot by the time you get to your table with the plate it was cold, I filled up on bread & [... read more] sweets all week . Pools were the only thing that was resort quality .

Excellent experience

My wife and I vacationed at the Cofresi Palm Mar. 11-18. With the mixed reviews, our expectations were low. We were very pleasantly surprised! The resort is beautiful and well maintained. Our standard room was large, with a nice balcony. Thank THanks to the room attendants who kept our space clean and supplied with bottled water on a daily basis. The beach is great, with spectacular views and long enough for a good walk. The surf was a bit high but fun. The east end is calmer, with tropical  [... read more]fish! We enjoyed both buffets, the Pearl and the Casablanca. Service at both was great and the food was very good, although we preferred the ambiance at the Casablanca. We ate at 3 a la cartes: Bellini, El Pilon and Moomtaz. If you enjoy authentic Indian food you must try Moomtaz. Spicy and very tasty. Our only complaint was having to queue to reserve a la carte times. There must be a more efficient way to do this. Our favourite bar was the Sports Bar and Casino. Great martinis! Do not miss the Sunday Welcome Party! Unbelievable entertainment and food. Lots of dancing too! Great fun! This is a large resort with lots of activities for young and old alike. Getting around is easy using shuttle and golf carts but it is walkable as well. (We are in our mid 60s.) We had a beige colored bracelet (standard room). We considered upgrading but after a couple of days did not see the need as we were happy with everything. We highly recommend this resort and will likely return in the future.
