Great trip

The property is well maintained and well laid out. Beach is beautiful with sandy water and little seaweed. Food was better than most areas we have been in Cuba. Have been going to Cuba for 16 years at least once or twice a year. Probably one of the best rooms we have had. Not all rooms are renovated yet so make sure to ask for a renovated room. Better to be up 2 Nd floor as bottom rooms seem to be damp and musty in some buildings. Our experiences have always been that the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in other places so this was not expected. Cleanliness is our number one issue and it was clean!

A good 3 star

The rooms were relatively clean. The poolside activities were good. Meals were okay with some exceptions - pasta bar was great! I would not rate this as more than a 3 star. There were a few very staff with exceptional service but in general, the service was average. The sand flies in the beach were awful though this time of year.

Hotel Iberostar Playa Alameda

This is a smaller resort that we enjoyed going to. As for all Cuban resorts, the food was a 7 out of 10. Do not expect for the snack bar to have much of what they list in their menu. (no pizza at all during our stay). As for cleanliness, this is one of the best we had ever had.

Mediocre Experience

Single beds only available in all of the resort apparently, ice cream parlour was never opened, drinks weren’t the best. Staff would serve others regardless of the order you lined up in if you tipped well enough. Ocean and beach were beautiful. The transfer bus drivers were very unhelpful.

Great Resort

I truly enjoyed this resort, my previous experience with Cuba has been bad food and screaming kids...not this resort, food was better than good and adults only...when I go back to Cuba it will be this resort....

Very Quaint and Relaxing Resort!!

the Hotels charm was the Staff and the Eaze of learning the ins /outs .. We had a Fab Time ! Small , but very good . you got to know much of the Staff .. we only went for 5 Days , but long enough to provide a Great Time !! Close to Varadero and Havana Tour was Awesome!!

Wonderful week at Playa Alameda!

This was our second time at this resort and we loved it just as much the second time as we did the first. Great beach and lots of beach chairs. Loved the buffet restaurant, we had a great variety of foods and the servers were wonderful, always attentive and ready with water, wine or whatever we needed at the table.

Nice resort

We have been to Cuba many times and we can say that we had a good experience. The grounds were neat and tidy and beach was beautiful. Drinks really flowed with excellent waiter service, both during the shows and the lobby areas. The shows were really well done and the bands were good also. The food had lots of choice but usually not served warm. Our biggest complaint would be the beach BBQ as the burgers were not cooked enough, tho you could always get fries and pizza at the pool bar. It's a great resort for walking as there is a new marina across the road with resturants and a bowling alley. For the price that we paid for an adult only resort I would recommend it as a place to go, but always with an open mind. They work with what they have and try staying in Canada for the same price, to put it in perspective.

Noce resprt

Hotel and facilities were nice and everyone was friendly.. Biggest complaint was inconsistant housekeeping and room replenishment.they place also had odd bar hours. With the exception of the lobby bar, each bar is open for a few hours at a time which is odd. the food was actually much better than i expected.all in all had a wonderfull time.

Was good

The resort in all was great, entertainment was good, food was ok, sometimes better then others rooms were great and clean, didn’t like the idea that at the pool bar ran out of toilet paper for the last 3 days, so remember to take some

Great time

The hotel was great for the price . Clean with great staff . Rooms need to have new beds and furniture and thats what they started to do as we stayed there end of January. Also the beach was beautiful and clean. Not a big resort so its easy to get around . Ala carts had great food and atmosphere. 12 min walk to the big marina . Which has bowling lanes and great restaurants

What an amazing trip!!

Words cannot explain the amazing time we had at the Iberostar Playa Alameda Resort in Veradero. The staff was amazing, the rooms and service were great and there was lots of variety of food and activities.

Beautiful atmosphere

The grounds were amazing-palm trees, green grass, superb beach. The rooms were spacious and clean. The food was OK. Plenty of food, but not much of the kind of food I'm used to as a Canadian. The stuff were attentive and kind, and I enjoyed interacting with them.

Playa Alameda

Front Desk- Staff should be happier and greet guests with a smile, always looks like your bothering them when you go up for something. They also need to get more organized with cash and change, only one day out of 7 was I able to get change smaller than 5 cuc. People ain’t going to tip with 5 pesos, I like tipping 1-2 pesos almost every time I eat or get a drink,but not 5. None of their salt shakers work, you can hear people banging them on tables throughout dining room. They use too course of salt for the tiny holes and salt is damp, they need to put rice in salt shakers. A La Carte- only tried Italian and Romantico, Romantico was nothing special, basically same meat as in Buffett but fancy plates. Lasagna was good in Italian as was the Carpaccio. Snack Bar Pool- Good French fries and hamburgers, pizza needed more sauce on it. The food was tasty and fresh but just repeated to much, they need to change it up and have theme nights. People get bored with the same old food every night. Grounds- They do clean up a lot and trim trees. Seen quite a few lamp posts with exposed wiring and held together with tape and not connectors, tape falls off in the kind of heat and could be deadly if touched. Rooms- Are large and spacious but old and tired, seen some bad wiring in room also. My friends room had no lamp shades. All the wall plugs get turned off when switch is closed, found that out when tablet never charged overnight. Our maid was awesome, always kept our room clean and surprised us every day with flowers and towel art. Bars- Were great, usually fast service, only thing they ran out of tonic water all week and no Amaretto Animation Team- Were good but I found they didn’t do enough activities at pool, they were non-existence most of the day. The shows were ok, I have seen better. Charlie is one special character.Foam party was supposed to be at beach on the sand at night which I never seen before,usually it’s in the pool in the daytime. They moved it to the theatre that night because of wind and rain, people dancing around in the foam not being able to see the chairs was not to smart. The resort doesn’t take any safety precautions into anything. Sidewalks around pool end and drop into a sandbox which is there when it was for kids. Why incorporate a sandbox that’s 6-8” lower than what your walking on, how many people fall into this at night. All in all the resort was ok and would return only if it was cheaper in price.

Well

The hotel was at best a 2*, one thing I can say is the people were amazing. The resort was rundown and the room smelt of mold and mold was visible. Place needs some serious upgrades if I were to return

Great Resort....great value

I really liked the resort. The grounds were beautiful. Lots going on. Lots of entertainment, very lively. People at the resort were awesome. Some of the best food I have had in Cuba. Rooms are a bit dated. We have an awesome Ocean view.

Beautiful resort but needs improvements

We have been to Cuba many, many times and found this resort to be a beautiful property. It was well laid out, the rooms were typical Cuban but they are renovating the bathrooms which is a nice improvement and found the beds were comfortable. Not sure. We also did our own suggestions [because they have a suggestion box in the lobby], only to help them succeed as there is so much potential for this resort. It became an adult only as of November 2018 and WE NEED ADULT ONLY RESORTS that are reasonably priced, such as this one. What gives us hope at this resort is when suggestions were made they took the suggestions and implemented them [well some of them] like the next day! So they are listening, which makes us think they are open to suggestion BUT they need to keep it up! The buffet was so much of the same, everyday and it wasn't good. Yes, we read the reviews before we went and we are used to Cuban cooking and always have found something to eat as long as there was a pasta station to fill in between "not so good nights", but by the time we left I was pretty tired of pasta. One of the biggest problems were the washrooms especially the men's washroom closest to the lobby, very well used you would think it would be very maintained. The whole 2 weeks we were there the urinals were not functioning, had signs "not to use". There were only 2 urinals and 2 toilets in this washroom and the next closest washroom was way down by the pool! There is no paper and a pitiful dryer and the door to the men's washroom was propped open leaving the men exposed doing their business, at the urinal, so when the women came out of their washroom there the men were, their back to the open doorway. The pool washrooms MANY times had NO paper for toilets OR hands, you found that out of course AFTER. After 5 days of this problem I went on a hunt for a manager of sorts, I found one and explained what the problem was and stressed how unacceptable this was for a resort of this caliber, from that day to the time we left there was paper in the pool washrooms, still nothing for the hands. We felt sorry for all the workers that had to take the brunt of the complaints. On a more positive note, we loved all the servers Zuly you were our favorite, Donnie and Ca yile and Cookie, we miss you and our Ron Collins & gin and tonic drinks, the animation group and yes Charlie is a sweetheart, all the reception, Mildrey in guest services who is dear to my heart, they were all wonderful to us and enjoyed them all. TO the MANAGER: you are very fortunate to have all the wonderful employees at your resort, they made our trip and its the people of Cuba that keeps us coming back year after year. Just for your information our room was 1812 and you did hear from us at the suggestion box, we were there from Jan 8-Jan 22. We want this resort to succeed as there is so much potential and we did see you listened to suggestions but it needs to be ongoing and the food has to improve! At this point we would not recommend this resort because of the problems. But we are going to watch the reviews to see how you improve.

Very nice resort

Grounds well taken care of, rooms are clean, food good, lots of variety. The Italian restaurant was very good also the International one. The washrooms at the beach need paper towels or hand dryers, none were visible. The staff is friendly and service oriented. All in all excellent value for the price!

Amazing Staff and nice resort!!

Overall nice comfortable resort! Amazing food and lots of different choices daily! Cudos tobthe chef who did a Giant Paella dish at Bbq one day!! Can’t say enough about the most friendly AND. Accommodating Staff Best I’ve encountered in 19 trips to Cuba! Every dept day or nite fantastic people....made us feel like a celebrity!!
