Disapointing

Room - Arrived on a Saturday night. We complained about clogged sink on Sunday and to the day we left we were brushing our teeth leaning over the bath tub. Bed - Couldn't get a peaceful rest, bed spring was hurting our back. Bottled water - Supposed be be provided a bottle a day * DID NOT HAPPEN *. Called the front desk to complain explaining I have a heart problem and need to take my meds. 4 hours had to call them again looking fro the water for my meds. took another hour before they sent [... read more] someone with the water. FOOD - Ridiculously long long wait to get any food even if it's just fried eggs/pancakes. They were running out of something every day!!! " If you don't get there early you would have to wait for plates, SERVICE - LOUSY!! With exception of maybe 1 or 2 staff that would at least smile. "WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE "

Good price, good value

This was our fourth trip to Cuba. Hotel playa coco is a good resort for the price. We especially enjoyed the beach with its varied tide and tidal pools to explore, the children's pool, the ice cream parlour and the beer garden. The rooms aren't fancy but were sufficient. There were lots of bugs at this resort and we got lots and lots of bites. Probably due to the proximity to the mangroves next door.

Great place to vacation

I found this resort to be very well designed for easy access to the beach, bars, and dining areas. The pools were well maintained daily. Drinks were very generous. Servers were very nice, as all peoples of Cuba are. The food was OK. They do the best they can ,with what they have available. Treat them with respect, and they reply in kind.

Great time except for bugs!

Beautiful property, beautiful beach, and the staff were great. Got EATEN ALIVE. More bites than I can count. Food selection was poor as well. Lobby bar took very long to get drinks but the pool bar staff were outstanding

Just what the doctor ordered

My husband and I just returned from a week in paradise. The beaches were pristine, the food was amazing,(lots of variations at different places so there is no way you'd go hungry, even the pickiest of eaters) and mother nature whole heartedly was on our side! You can be as busy as you want at this resort or as lazy as you want, never waited in line for drinks or chairs etc.. Perfect for all ages and all levels of mobility. Pictures dont do it justice. Close to the airport, great service and great price. Who could ask for more?

Had a blast

the hotel was surprisingly nice the room was bigger then i thought the service was great the entertainment was awesome had a blast meeting few of the entertainers the food was great nice to have a 24/7 bar especially after partying all night..the beach was my favourite spent most of my mornings relaxing sipping on some cuba libre(rum nd coke) everything was great had a great vacation !

Very Friendly Resort!

We stayed at Hotel Playa Coco Feb 8-15, my 2 sisters & our Mom. We had a wonderful vacation! First of all the check-in was the best I've experienced at an all-inclusive; we were met in the lobby by a gentleman with the bracelets, putting them on even before we got to the check-in desk. The staff at the desk were very efficient and granted our request to have our rooms next to each other. The valets whisked us away to our rooms very quickly and helped with the luggage. Our beach towels  [... read more]were in the rooms when we got there. The rooms were kept very clean, and we had a fresh bottle of water every day. Getting a lounger on the beach was so easy! The first day we met Michael, who offered to reserve loungers for us, and did so every morning. We also enjoyed the pools, and had no trouble getting loungers. The smaller, quiet pool was our favorite, and the bartender Emir, with his weekend assistant Leo, was the best!! The buffet was well organized, there was plenty to choose from, and food was replenished quickly. We had excellent service from hostess Yeley and waiter Eduardo. The house band was so much fun, they came around to the tables and even let us join in with the maracas! The theatre is being renovated currently, so the entertainment took place in the lobby every evening. There was something for everyone. We also enjoyed sitting in the Yolanda piano bar, all three pianistas who performed there were very talented. We ate at 2 of the a la cartes, the Japanese and the Italian, and the food was excellent at both. Our favorite was the Japanese, the food and the service there was top-notch!! On the down side, the service at the 24 hour snack bar (the Beer garden) was a little slow, but hey, you're on vacation!! Also, fresh towels did not arrive for a few days, but this is to be expected as there is only one laundry for 16 resorts in the area. We brought our own beach towels, and hung them to dry each day. There were a lot of biting "no-seeums" or sand fleas, so bug spray is recommended. Overall we had an awesome time at Hotel Playa Coco!!

Nice Resort

The resort was very clean with excellent service. Staff was very friendly and were able to answer all of our enquiries. One of the buildings (45 units), and the theatre are still being renovated along with a new restaurant being built ocean front. Definitely need to bring bug spray as one way to try and defend yourself from the sand fleas. Beach was beautiful with plenty of lounge chairs. Day entertainment around the pool was good. The evening entertainment was held in the lobby as the theatre was being renovated. Difficult to find a quiet place outdoors to chat with family/friends in the evening due to entertainment in the lobby. Overall, this resort was good value for the money.

Great resort

I loved the resort, the food was very good, loved the ice cream shop, pools are beautiful, staff was ok, the only negative I could say was the bugs, I got bit by small bugs, so bring bug spray and Benadryl spray, the beaches are beautiful too, always have chairs to tan on...

Nice resort

The resort is beautifull, the room are average The day we got there, shower was not working and toilet stop working too The room was clean , but we travel with a baby so the location was not for us could not sit outside too close to the beach very noise and lots of mosquitoes, staff is amazing They offer to send us to another resort no extra charge , they came with us for the transfer they took care of everything thumb up to them

Excellent Beaches

This was my first vacation, and I thought I got good value for my money. I got a suite, which was spacious, and clean. However, I did not get my fridge stocked with water and soda. The beach was incredible, worth the whole trip. Water was beautiful and clear, lots of sand, and shade if you wanted it. The food was decent. Not memorable, but not bad. The daily pig roast at the beach was the highlight. The service was laid back. They did not have enough staff for top knotch service. Everyon [... read more]e worked at a steady pace- but didn`t rush. If you went to dinner late- you usually didn`t get a re-set table. I had a few meals with just leftover clean cutlery. I didn`t mind- but if you are a fussy person, you would be frustrated. The ice cream bar was wonderful, there were always chairs at the pool and beach. Drinks were great. Weather was wonderful. I had a good time, and would return.

Good BUT Sand Flea Bites

The Good: beautiful beach, room was cleaned well by our maid, water & supplies stocked when needed, grounds were nice, food was OK remembering it's Cuba, good service in the Buffet, small resort so no problem with pool chairs, staff was reasonably pleasant. Small resort so everything was close at hand. Ice cream shop was a nice touch. The BAD: Most of the tourists at the resort got badly bitten by sand fleas. By badly I mean severe welts and itching. Even with bug spray it didn't stop t [... read more]hem. Several people at the resort had to get medical attention there. My wife was so badly infected I had to take her to our Emergency department at our local hospital where she was given an ointment and a day & night pill for itching & infection. Next: Starting around noon the music & loud speaker in the pool area was deafening, you couldn't have a conversation with the person beside you. The same for the lobby in the evening. As the theatre was under renovation the staff moved it to the lobby. Again it was so loud you couldn't have a conversation. Not enough staff in the lobby or at the lobby / piano bar to take orders. It was easy to see the staff was lost as they would come out with drinks not knowing where to take them. On the same note the drinks were so inconsistent and some not the right mixture. Entertainment / activities were sub par. Too bad for the staff that the Bank & front desk never had small bills so when I ran out the tips ended. Again this is common in Cuba. Some toilets & urinals were plugged but I blame this on the tourists that would throw 'butts' in urinals & load toilets with paper. There wasn't a 'NO SMOKING' area in the lobby so several times we were forced to move our table. To sum it up I would not return. The reasons are the Sand Flea bites, service and we have been to much better for the dollar value.

Definitely a Four Star Plus

From the time of entering the main lobby on Jan06, till leaving the night of Jan16, would have to say, one of the best trips and resorts we have had the opportunity to visit and enjoy. We are 70 and 71. The staff, the rooms, the restaurants, the food, the pool areas, the bars, along with the area and surroundings would have to be rated either a 9 out of 10, or a 10 out of 10. Would have no hesitation too bring children or grandchildren. The resort is well layed out, lots of wide paved paths throughout the complex, and so easy to get around. Did not spend too much time on the beach as there were strong winds most of the time. However we did walk the beach area and is was really nice. There are lounge chairs every where, so no need to worry about finding one to relax. Just had a great relaxing vacation, would have no problem in going back, and would recommend this resort. Should mention that there is extensive construction and remodelling in process, but it never seemed to bother us at any time. Apparently this resort is over 12 years old, and they are making updates. Our room was bright, clean, and comfortable. we stayed in building 5, ocean front. There are 9 condo type buildings throughout the complex. Found the noise and music a bit loud at the main pool, especially in the late morning and afternoon. We just moved over to what we would call the 'quiet pool area' which is another location about a 2-3 minute walk away. Good resort, good value of the money, good food, very clean, very relaxing.

Great Family Destination

My family and I really enjoyed this resort. There were many places to get food and drinks and we never had to wait long. Not a ton of different foods but enough to keep you interested for a week. Great Staff was friendly and helpful. The Beach was nice and there were many, many chairs and shade huts available for everyone (not a place where you have to be out claiming a spot before the suns up). Pools were well kept. First time in paradise

Every person have different taste, of course different opinion. First time being in this place (from Dec 25 to Jan 01), for me and for my husband everything was just incredibly beautiful, comfortable etc. People were so kind. Before I left Montreal Canada, I read that the send is full of bags, also in the rooms. It is not true. There is nothing which would make it uncomfortable to stay and enjoy. Mix review

We loved the layout of the resort & the size of our room. The wait staff & bartenders were great. The food at times was great, other times ok, sometimes sad, but it is Cuba. Our 2 biggest complaints: a shortage of towels & bottled water in our room. Also: some were bit badly by the sand flies while most were left alone..odd who was bit while most not. The entertainment at the main pool was excessively loud, so we were happy to hang out at the "quiet pool" with a few others. We picked this resort [... read more] since it advertised snorkeling right off the beach. There is a tiny reef about 15 meters by 15 meters with lots of fish, but we did not find it until the 5th day. It is at the left end of the resort's beach. At low tide it would be a great place for families to go, reminding the kids not to stand on the coral. We had a good time, but would not return. If you go, bring a towel, toilet paper, your own snorkel stuff, your own golf balls for mini golf, "after bite", moderate expectations & you will be fine.

Caring staff and great resort!!

I spent three weeks at Hotel Playa Coco, from November 30 to December 21. This is the third year in a row that I've spent three weeks at this resort. Assuredly, I am happy to recommend Hotel Playa Coco. There are many positive features to consider: [1]The staff is very helpful, friendly and caring - more so than any other resort I have stayed at. But there are many more selections, which are constantly replenished. [5]The pools are clean and both have bars. There is a BBQ by the large pool. [6]There are actually 5 places to eat lunch. [7]There is an ice cream parlour, which is open most of the day and evening. [8]The rooms are spacious and bright, and the chambermaids do an excellent job. [9]Many supervisors and managers circulate constantly, to ensure that everything is 'up to par.' [10]The staff at the Lobby Desk and Public Relations are friendly and helpful. 4 TH time a charm.

Yes there is construction going on at the resort but it never bothered us. The food and drinks were great. All staff very friendly and helpful. We loved this resort

We enjoyed everything at the Playa Coco resort,we had no complaints in 2 weeks. The resort grounds were beautiful,the rooms were large and the food was the best we have had in Cuba.We will certainly consider going there again.

Another Amazing Vacation at Hotel Playa Coco

This was the second time we returned to this Hotel . Again it seems to be improving. They have added a Coffee and wine bar in which was amazing for those of us who enjoy just that . The Theatre is still under construction but that did not interfere with the entertainment . The Hotel Lobby area in which was large was perfect for guests to lounge around and sit in comfortable seats . Lots to choose from and the Ala carts were great . Especially the Japanese. . the Beach was kept clean and there was lots of room to either lay around an also lots of shaded places.
