Excellent resort

People friendly and very helpful the lay out is perfect the beach is clean both on the beach and in the water rooms clean and safe easy to walk from one area to another the pool was alot of fun at all times

Great place

The food was fantastic, not bland like cuba. The beaches and country are beautiful! I would recommend this place to everyone. On my birthday, I got a cake and a banner on my door. Mostly older couples at the resort.

Had a very awesome time.

Everything was excellent.People were friendly, food was great, sand on beach was beautiful. I have already recommended it to co-workers and friends and they will be booking a trip there by months end. Thanks again for making our trip a memorable one.

Don't be fooled by brand name RIU

When we booked this resort, we did not ask a lot of questions because we were picking a brand - RIU. We had stayed at RIU many times before and I would normally rate RIU as the best. This was our expectation and we got totally disappointed. The beach was practically unusable and dirty - even the sand in the water at times looked too soft and my foot would sink in like quick sand. The water filteration of the only pool with the bar was not able to keep the water clear. So I felt disgusted to use  [... read more]that pool. We had to walk for 20 minutes to RIU Palace to use their beach, and of course the down side was that we were not entitled to order alcohol or food, even when I offered to pay for it(on an all inclusive vacation) the bar tender refused. In terms of rooms, they were small. We got their best beach front room and they could not put two queen beds in it so that a family of 4 (with two young kids, 6 and 9) could sleep comfortably. In terms of food, they had also cut corners pretty badly and they would only book one specialty restaurant at a time, which also required us to get up at 7:30 am and line up each day we needed to make the booking! Overall, this particular RIU (RIU Negril) missed the target and the expectation that people have from RIU by a significant margin in many fronts. Overall, this RIU is more like a 2 - 3 stars at best. It is being shut down for renovations in 2015, so I would completely avoid it.

Pretty good

This was one of the nicer hotels I am stayed at. Our room was much better than others. I liked the resorts lay out, made it easy to get around and everything was in walking distance. The variety and quality of food was really the only downside. Our last two days there was a major improvement in seafood which my boyfriend loved. The two a la carts we attended we awful, the buffet was offering better food and the fact that you couldn't reserve all at once was ridiculous. Making me stand in a line  [... read more]for 30 min plus just to book one for two days in advance was not a pleasant experience. Other than that Jamaica was beautiful. We went on the rocks cafe snorkeling tour offered by the resort and it was so fun. I have never had such a great excursion. We got pick up and dropped off on our beach, staff were funny and friendly, snorkeling was beautiful, free alcohol lots of knowledge about local places along the way, a dance party. Honestly we couldn't have asked for a better day. Overall we had a really great time. We probably will not stay at a riu again unless the price is right. Also entertainment did a great job.

Awesome Week

The friendly staff made this a most enjoyable week. We were the oldest couple there. We loved the food and the activities the staff had to keep the young couples entertained. Walk the 2 miles of beautiful beach and take the sailboat out for a spin. cheers

Fantastic resort

the hotel is an excellent resort.The rooms were very clean and made up quickly every day and the room fridge restocked.The staff were very friendly and ready to help in any way.We had a problem with air conditioning and was resolved with a different room.The food was excellent.The beach was one the best we have been on.Calm water and great snorkeling.We went shopping and the prices were reasonable to very good.Its to bad the resort wasnt a little closer to the airport.I forgot to mention the ent [... read more]ertainment every night was good.Overall it was an excellent trip and would go back to this resort again.Thanks trip central.

The Resort is Excellent

The welcome reception is well organized. The beach entertainment is amazing with 'nice' reggae music. The dinning areas were excellent and the taste of food is "top notch". However, the nightly entertainment needs some improvement. The ground were well kept and the workers were friendly with Jamaican "ire" attitude.

EXCELLENT RESORTS

The hotels ground was beautiful kept, the food very very good, the service was excellent, the location was very good the pool was very clean and also the room . The staff at the hotel made you feel at home, they go out of their way to made your stay comfortable

Fantastic resort

This resort was wonderful, i travelled with my girlfriend and we were both happy with the stay. The resort is quite a ways from the airport but load up on red stripe at the bar outside the airport terminal and enjoy the scenic drive. Once there it was a fast check in and we were in our rooms in no time, our bags were about 10 minutes behind us. Beaches are great, jerk chicken is awesome. We got a taxi from the guys across the front gates to take us everywhere, ask for toni and say sean sent ya.  [... read more]He took us for a stroll down 7 mile beach, such a great walk and beer is sold for 1.25 at bars all along. We paid for a booze cruise at the scuba caribe shack cause the entire resort was raving about it and it was so much fun, an afternoon of snorkling followed by drinks, ricks cafe and a wonderful spot on the ocean to watch the sunset. Have fun!

Loooooooooooove Riu Negril

Riu Negril - A Resort to chill out on Bloody Bay. The food is Excellent, the drinks are plentiful, the staff is very Friendly; always smiling and there to help you. The entertainment staff is full of energy from the morning on the beach to the shows at night. Love that the resort is on Bloody Bay and the last one on the stretch. Enjoyed the long walks on the beach. Riu Negril is always clean, clean, clean. Beautiful rooms all the time. It's our 7th time there and will return again. Nice resort but rooms need updating

Dining and food was good. Rooms not so great. Beach very nice. Liked that it was close to rooms and had lots of loungers. We didn't use the pools so can' review them. We had a long delay leaving Toronto due to weather and when we finally arrived couldn't get a drink as all bars were closed. Think there should be more bars with entertainment and open longer as older people don't want to go to disco. We were not happy with Sunwing as we should have been told there would be a delay but when we chec [... read more]ked we were told everything was on time. Think we had a 6 hour delay.

All you could want and more!

We stayed at the Club Riu Hotel in beautiful Negril, Jamaica. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we were treated like royalty with an upgraded room. Food was excellent as well as the staff. There is a fish sanctuary on the resort where you can see fish in their natural habitat. I have stayed at the resort 4 times now and will be going back in February. The jerk chicken at the beach bar is awesome. A special hello to Aaron, our bell boy who is just the best and also to Kenneil, our breakfast server. Can't wait to go back.

Older resort, amazing service

We were recommended this resort from a friend....well the location is awesome, the resort is older, smaller and purple!! Not our taste!! The room was small and well overdue for a renovation, and soon!! Everything worked and was comfortable and clean, but difficult to use hot water around 3-6pm daily. Not good when you're trying to ready yourself for dinner!! Mini bar in room was nice, vodka, rum, gin etc...and mix as well. Dinner reservation making was terrible, you had to go daily and hope they [... read more] had room, but if you did get reservations the food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. The entertainment crew was beyond amazing, they were friendly and funny, a really talented group of people!! The beach is not on the famed seven mile strip, it's in a bay and was very murky for most of the week....creepy, especially when it cleared the amount of stingrays would blow your mind!!! The beach was clean and lots of room....but no shade palapas, just trees in spots, so lots of no see ums....which bite, and are itchy!! Kids club we noticed was less than desirable, but the staff made the best of what they had....again it's the staff that make this place, always some kind of event or game or just fun to be had. Now the worst part was the pool...so small and people would eat and smoke and well hang in the pool by the bar all day....you know what that means....especially since there is only one bathroom in the lobby...even the restaurants had no bathrooms, you had to leave you dinner to go to the lobby to use the washroom!!!!! They had two small pools, one with a bar and one mostly for water sports, use the latter, it's much cleaner!! I wouldn't go back to this resort unless it was really cheap!!

Riu Negril is a awesome resort

My family had a great vacation at the Riu Negril in April 2014. The grounds are beautiful with one of the nicest beaches in the world and perfect for long walks. Everything was clean and the restaurants and food were excellent. The Jamaican people are the happiest and friendliest in the world. Ricks Cafe is a must see for all tourists

Great beach

The hotel was very clean and staff was wondering. Food was great breakfast,lunch. & supper. Had a wonderful time playing in the sand not so much fun cleaning it off. The rooms were very clean and the maids were very nice.
