Excellent Resort *The Blau Varadero*

First off it's our 4th time to this resort we love it so much and the Staff are wonderful and extremely helpful. Resort and grounds are kept immaculate, rooms are clean, if there is something you need do not hesitate to ask the front desk. This resort as of November 2016 was changed to an Adults only resort. we missed having the kids around playing and having fun but it was so nice to have that peaceful bliss of quietness as well. The Buffet which has a theme every night was good as well, what we say is if you don't like the looks of it move on there is plenty of food to choose from. We find some travellers expect the best of everything and please just a reminder this is CUBA and they try their hardest to prepare good meals daily for 700-800 people, don't be so quick to judge. Put yourself in their position these people work very hard to make sure your vacation is a great one. We had a gorgeous room 1038, recently renovated, ocean view absolutely breath taking. Our chambermaid Annia cleaned our room daily, left beautiful towel art on our bed. Was so nice to come back to a cool and clean room. Little items are appreciated like, makeup, deodorant, nylons etc. They work hard and deserve something to show your appreciation. The bar staff at the main bar so much fun, we have made great friends with all and consider them to be our extended family. Adelys makes the best Spanish Coffee!!!!! We miss them all What more can we say, this Resort is lovely, beach is beautiful, pool is refreshing & the drinks are plenty and cold. Big thank you to our adopted Cuban daughter Rocio Fructose Morales-Public Relations/Customer Service, this young lady works her ASS off 12-15 hours a day to ensure your stay is a fabulous one, from making sure your room is ok to making sure there is a birthday/anniversary cake for you at your dinner table. If anyone deserves recognition for her dedication and long hours it is this sweet heart Rocio, love ya babe!!!!! We would like to once again thank David, Roland, Mario & the entire Staff at The Blau for once again making our vacation an awesome one and and treating us like Family. Still A Great Resort

I just returned from my 4th stay at the Blau Varadero and had another wonderful vacation. This is my first time back since it has become an Adult only resort. I normally travel in March or April so I'm not sure if it is the reason for my only concern or not. I always brag about the food at this resort as being the very best in all of Cuba and I've been to Cuba 13 times but this time I was disappointed in the very poor selection most nights. If I had to guess I would say it was a low season a [... read more]nd only catering to the European guests, just my opinion. I have to say that because of the food choices or lack of, I was ready to go home on my 5th day there and that saddens me. I stayed in Room 1221 and loved my room, very clean and wonderful size. Several of the staff remembered me from my previous visits which is always very nice and welcoming. I will return one more time, hopefully in April of next year just to see if the time of year makes a difference in the food selection before I decide I have had enough of this beautiful little resort.

Amazing resort and staff!

This was my first time to Cuba and I'm glad I picked this resort as my first experience because it did not disappoint! It was an adult only resort so mature and relatively relaxed. The food was amazing, the beach was stunning and the staff were all beautiful, warm and welcoming. I will miss Agdiel, Orlando and Alexander the most and hope to see you all again soon!! I already miss Cuba and can't wait to go back.

Fantastic Resort

Grounds were lovely, entertainment at the main bar and piano bar was amazing, and the food was great. The staff were exceptional! The rooms will need some renovation soon, but were comfortable and clean. Would definitely consider staying here again.

Fantastic resort

Hotel was amazing. it is very clean and well maintained. It wasn't loud it was peaceful. Lots of things to do like shopping, snorkelling, sailing, swimming, bus tours. Food was great, we were told bad things about the food but were greatly surprised. The staff were friendly and always ready to serve. There was always activities going on every day. Rooms were beautiful and the cleaning staff were amazing.

Okay visit.

This was my second time to Varadero and it was better than the last but I will probably not return. The food is just okay, nothing great and very limited and repetitive. The Mexican a la carte was terrible and the International was better but not great by any means. We stayed in a renovated suite and it was nice, the TV had CTV Montreal so we were able to watch prime time TV. The nightly entertainment was pretty bad and way too smoky in the confined area. The people were nice, pool good but [... read more] cold and the beach was beautiful. Would not return to Cuba as they clearly do not have all the amenities that I like on an all inclusive vacation. I would much rather visit Mexico or Jamaica.

A delightful experience

Well on the first night, the receptionist gave us the first floor room which smelled of smoke. The luggage man turned up the A/C full blast to get rid of the smell. As a result I had to wear a full gear of scarf and jacket during my slumber that night. We stayed one more night and on Friday Armando from Sunwing met me and I explained about the situation and after he spoke with the receptionist, we got moved to the sixth floor which was in much better shape and no smoke odor and that was where [... read more] we stayed for the reminder of the vacation. Most staff were friendly and attentive. The only thing is that the receptionist was not allowed to give us small changes like smaller denominations in either US, CAN or CUC. This has caused inconvience for tipping purposes. The weather was perfect, the waves were inspiring, and I enjoyed the papayas and the pickled fish at every meal with lots of sweets. I also liked their palle rice. I was grateful for the foods and drinks compare to what the locals have. The doubl decker bus was a great value for the money. We enjoyed sitting under the hut by the beach and sleep,dream, or treading the waves, or just reading.

Very nice resort

Visually speaking, I thought this was a beautiful hotel. The staff as usual are very friendly. The pool is very nice. Tons of space and lounge chairs available. No need to wake up super early to reserve a chair, which was nice. The beach is beautiful. The food at the hotel is good, at best. Not a ton of tasty options during dinner, but I'm more of a healthy eater so I'm a little picky :) I did, however, enjoy the breakfast food and the lunch options. The desserts also seemed to vary every night  [... read more]which was great (I have a major sweet tooth). The evening shows at the hotel were, in my opinion, mediocre. In fact, we ended up leaving half way through one of the shows. The disco/night club at the hotel is located on the beach and is tiny so if you're looking to party every night then this isn't the hotel for you. The actual room we stayed in was roomy with spacious bathroom. We had a leak in the ceiling due to the air conditioner but it was repaired very quickly so not a big deal. Overall I had a great time at this hotel.

8th visit and still the best place to be

The Blau is a gem in Cuba. They cannot do enough to make your stay great. It will soon be adults only as of November which I can't wait for. The food is amazing you will never never be hungry or want for anything. The resort is being upgraded which only makes the stay even better. I always recommend this property to people that ask me where to stay in Cuba.

Beautiful Blau Varadero

where to start.. the Blau was great. It was your average hotel the food was good and the two fancy restaurants they had were awesome. The beach was beyond perfect. Beautiful blue water and beautiful Sandy non rocky beach. We loved it. Also the Staff were so friendly and great to us. We will be going back again in the feature for sure. The only problem was the bed, it was hard as a rock.. Hah but we made do and got past that. We hope everyone will visit the Blau because it was so awesome!

Excellent time!

This was our second trip to the Blau. The staff is exceptional. The hotel is very nice but in need of some upgrading. Overall though no complaints. Food is good and the variety is decent. Lots of entertainment. We travelled with two small kids and they loved it. Would definitely go back again!

Very nice resort

Great appearance to the hotel once inside; large open lobby with open courtyard and planters hanging down; a nice look and feel. Very nice and well kept grounds. Lacked some of the amenities that I am used to at hotels, like hair conditioner, lotion and plenty of towels. Staff were very nice and courteous. Beach is fantastic. Cuban resorts are not known for their food; I would rate the food as good; there was enough variety so that I could always find something I liked. Nightly show was okay; not a great draw. Got sick from the food on the Havana excursion. Tropicana show in Havana was excellent.

Great resort

Excellent resort. Great food and awesome beach. Rooms are a bit dated but the view (ocean/pool) is amazing. Elevators are a slow but not too bad. Great staff and service. Probably one of the best I traveled to on cuba

AMAZING RESORT

Blau Varadero Resort is the best in Cuba for the value we paid. Everything and eveyone were just perfect. Food was all you can ask for, we loved the breakfast and the evening buffet. The lunch buffet was also super. All kinds of fresh fish and other varieties, veggies and fruits, all A1 quality and presentation. The dessert buffet was huge selection, have never seen in any other resort. The beach was amazing as usual. Bars were all great. We recommend this resort to all, we found our resort where we want to go next time when we go to Varadero.

Blau is Best!

Stunning landscaping, beautiful flora. Pristine beach. The staff are genuinely happy to help you, very accomodating. Waaay better then mexico. The concierge has lots of great options for activities. Food was great despite what people said about Cuba. I will definetly return.

Awesome resort

Hotel and staff were amazing everyone was friendly, food was really good, the pool was really nice had a lot of fun at the bars in the hotel as well. Will definitely be going back again in the near future

We LOVE The Blau Varadaro! This was our stay!

This is our third time to be at The Blau. We were SO happy that it hadn't lost ANY of its' beauty! The staff, rooms, eating areas, pool and beach still as AWESOME as our first time we were there .. 2014! We requested an ocean view room and that is EXACTLY what we got! 846, overlooking the pool and the ocean..ideal room! YES we WILL go back..

Amazing, Clean, Fantastic Resort

Great Customer Service thank you ROSIE!!! Rooms are clean maid service is great, leave a little something and a note if there is something extra you require it will be there when you return to your room. Food is great never any issues and plenty to choose from, theme nights every night Asian, Cuban etc!!! BETTY makes awesome breakfast juice drinks while you wait, fantastic. Specialty Restaurants are good too Mexican was delicious and they have just changed the menu up so much more to choose f [... read more]rom. Palma was good as well, nice atmosphere and they have a 4 or 5 piece band play lovely music while you enjoy your dinner. Pool is beautiful always clean and the lounges are plenty. Lunch at the Pool Restaurant and outside BBQ daily once again food is great. Beach is to die for just gorgeous and lots of palapas to shade under, beach bar and beach bar restaurant ( pizza, grilled sandwiches etc ). Overall rating I would say is 5++ We are returning guests to this Resort, our niece was married there 2 years ago and it was our first time to Cuba, we fell in love with this Resort and have returned 3 times and are planning on a 2 week stay next April. The Employees work very hard to make sure your stay is a memorable one. We would like to thank our extended Family there... Micha, Orlando, Rosie, Myrna, Jose, Tupac, Jorge, Roberto and Adelay's and everyone else. Managers are very approachable and spend time with you, they just want to make sure your vacation is wonderful. Thanks to David, who has just taken over the Managing of this Resort as our dear friend Jose had to leave and return to Spain we truly missed you this time around. We are sure David will do a excellent job of keeping up with maintaining this fabulous, well respected Resort--- It's the place to stay in Varadero We recommend The Blau Varadero for your next vacation. Excellent service, Great environment

Excellent service, great environment and good hardware equipment, except for the slow and tight elevator space. We had a great time there. Hope that we could spend more 7 days there, as we spent two days going out to Havana and the cave.

Still great!

This year we were a large group occupying a total of 5 rooms. No complaints at all. The staff is fantastic as usual, food is good and the hotel and grounds are prefect - not too big not too small. We look forward to the next visit!
