Amazing

Thank you once again jessienewbigging@tripcentral.ca.....beautiful hotel, the grounds extremely well kept! The food was quite varied and the tastes and flavour was impeccable ! In anticipation of a hurricane, the hotel and staff were more than prepared to accommodate and take good care of the guests 😎

Very Good Resort

I was totally impressed with the staff at the Riu Ocho Rios. To management I say your finest asset is your people. All were very friendly and professional. I totally enjoyed the Jamaican cuisine. The resort handled the looming hurricane so well that it made the entire experience a good one. Thank goodness the worst did not happen but if it had I was quite confident that everyone would have been taken care of the best way possible. thank you to everyone at the Riu Lori Widdup

Fantastic resort

Great......extremely accommodating...rooms clean, dinning room was fantastic, smaller eating areas were of great selection! Satisfying to all.🛫🛏🚿🛀☉🌫⛈🌞🏊🎶🍸🍷🍻🍞🧀🍖🍗🍔🍟🍲🍿🌯🌭🍕🍦🍨🍾🍳🌴🍌☕😎😉

Riu Ocho Rios Great time

What another wonderful holiday it was. This is the second time there and was as good as the first. The food is always tasty and lots to choose from each day. Something different every day. Pool could have used a cleaning but due to some rain and winds it was hard to keep up. Staff is always friendly and attentive to your needs.

We have seen better

This our third time staying at a Riu Resort but was NOT the best, from the start there was no one to welcome our group of 12 at 10 pm, we had to look for the restaurant ourselves, room was smelly we had to change the next morning, sheets and towels didn't smell fresh, Food all through the week was repeated every single day. I was looking for information for my daughter's destination wedding next year and all I got was a brochure an [... read more]d online Riu site to get information.. we have stayed at Riu Bambu and Riu Palace Bavaro in Punta Cana.. we paid less for much more better service than this one. we stayed in building 1 and 2 the closest restaurant was open close to building 3 so we had to walk a long way to get a snack during the morning.. I addressed all the issues with the manger and didn't get the feel that he cares. As there was not enough guests in the resort to open another restaurant. I suggested only opening one fridge with some sandwiches and fruits that's all. other than the amazing beach, everything else was not as I was expecting. I would give it a 2 stars experience, will not go there again..

Not impressed

The rooms were outdated, specifically the washrooms. The grounds were not well kept. For example; dirty dishes and glasses would be left on the pool deck for days with staff walking past it multiple times per day and not cleaning it. Bar and grounds staff were rude and would make fun of guests behind their backs after they left the bar. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Some were rude and most seemed bothered when being asked for Something. Entertainment was cheesy and seemed thrown together without much effort. The worst part of it all was the food. Fresh fruit was extremely hard to come by. Most days, we found canned fruit such as pineapples and peaches, ant that was it. Which is unacceptable for the amount of money we paid to be at the resort. The "fine dining" restaurants were FAR from fine dining. Two of the 5 fine dining restaurants were buffets... Which is tacky and defeats the purpose of having to book a reservation. Not to mention that it took about 10-20 minutes to get a glass of water after having asked for it. There was NO room service, and we got yelled at by staff and embarrassed in front of many people for trying to bring food to our room. We found this extremely absurd considering they did not offer room service. Would have rather stayed home. Extremely upset that I wasted my money on this trip. Would absolutely not reccommend to anyone, and I hope that the resort management takes these comments into serious consideration.

Resort needs TLC

the grounds were fairly clean. The pool need to be cleaned badly. The food was not very good and the fine dining was awful. The room were fair There was a shortage of towels. Water pressure was poor. Staff was not very hospitable There was a shortage of food on the day trip to Dunns river. Overall, we would NOT go back. NOT VERY would NOT WANT TO GO TO ANOTHER RIU. this is the second Bad experience with Riu Two years in a row. HAPPY!!! Excellent

Been to this resort before n loved it. .....this was my 2nd time there n loved it even more. .the food was amazing. ..the staff was nice. ...entertainment was good. ...the crowd was lively and friendly. The rooms are good but I do agree on updating a few things like the metal keys are old school for the door and the safe. ...combination locks are better. ..and cards for the door instead of metal keys. There was a slight smell in the rooms but it was tolerable. Other than those little things  [... read more]the Riu resort is the spot to go to if your in Jamaica and you want to have a good time with good food. I will be recommending it to everyone !

Friendly staff and clean resort!

We spent 1 week at Riu ocho rios in may. I travelled with 2 kids (including a baby) and my teenage son. We all had a great time. The room was very clean as was the resort as a whole. The staff all work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. We did not book any of the restaurants, we were actually very pleased with the food selection in the buffet and opted to eat all of our meals there. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone, whether travelling as a couple or as a family.

A great place to relax

The hotel was very clean. The deluxe room was perfect. Good variety of food at the buffet restaurants . The service was a bit slow at one of the special restaurants. The pool was nice but we spent most of time at the beach. I loved to snorkel and all that coral and the different colour fish. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they treated you like family. The evening shows were great.

What a trip!!!!!!!!

Visited at the Riu Ochos Rios from March 18th to 25th. 4 couples. Had the greatest time. Food was excellent. Scuba Caribe company excursion (set-up by Dr.D) to Dunns River was amazing! Don't be afraid to try this . Water is so clear and great for snorkeling. Also Damien at Scuba Caribe can set you up with any excursions and you get what he says you will get. Great people those Jamaicans. No problem!

Perfect vacation

we loved this resort. It looked big when we got there but everything was well located and easy to access. The staff and food was great! We needed this break and were able to relax and have fun. We love to snorkel and were able to do this every day right at the beach.

Amazing and very clean Resort!

This resort is very clean with beautiful grounds, a stunning beach and very nice, helpful staff. Cannot say enough about Jamaicans, they are super people!! Entertainment team here is GREAT! They work hard day and night. Food is tasty, jerk chicken hut is amazing! Just love Jamaica and the RIU.

Amazing Resort

Hotel is big but very well designed... staffs are SUPERBE... the only thing missing that we would have liked would be coffee maker in room, small bottled water when we go on excursion and the restaurant A La Carte should not have buffet style... apart from these little things...We would go back anytime at Riu Ocho Rios...and I already send the info to friends so they can consider going there... Nice resort!

Second time to this hotel, first time was fabulous. Second time checked in to adults only section only to find out when I arrived that they don't have adults only anymore. The food is great, entertainment is a little of the same thing every night. Rooms were clean.

Fantastic time!

We very much enjoyed our trip to Jamaica and RIU Ocho Rios. The food was fantastic, the entertainment amazing!!! Always something going on to do or watch. I had the most fun I have ever had at any resort dancing and singing along with the shows. The resort is big enough to go to a different restaurant daily but small enough you don't need a train to take you everywhere. The pools were great the beach amazing! There were always enough chairs as long as you were smart and got out early. The drinks [... read more] sooooo yummy! Love all mixed drinks and Red Stripe beer. The only yuck was the wine, it was good in the a la cartes but no where else. Long ride from airport to hotel but if you know ahead of time you can't complain :) The only downfall was the smell in the room - not sure if it was musty smell as my clothes still smell after washing. All in all, loved this resort and people!

Second time we have been there so....excellent

pool and beach excellent service from staff in all areas excellent.The area not very good was the evening entertainment Although the staff tried very hard it was below par. The only exceptions were the times they had live reggae bands

Awesome and Friendly resort

The hotel staff are warm and friendly and always try to help you with any questions the beach is gorgeous and the views are awesome. Drinks and the food is plenty and you can always find a seat because of the awesome service from the kitchen staff. Entertainment was great and you l always find something going on at the beach whether it be volleyball or exercise programs

Disappointed

Dec 22.2015-Dec29.2015....requested a wheelchair room with a joining room and didn't get it.....put on 2nd floor the first night but we couldn't manage with the accessible room...next day we moved my daughter into the accessible room with no help from the staff...thanks!!!!...to find out that she couldn't get her wheelchair into the bathroom to use the toliet ..she would have to text me in my room when she needed help. Not so relaxing! The nice thing was that there was accessible bathrooms throu [... read more]gh out the resort which was nice but the staff where always using them.that's dissusting !! And when they would finnilycome out they would just look at us like how dare us want to use the washroom.I wrote to the hotel several times tell them how important it was to have a wheelchair room with a joining room cause my 23 year old daughter need daily care and cant do things on her own but wanted her own space while traveling with her parents. ..come on pepole this was all about her safety .it wasn't like I was reqessing an ocean front room and didn't get it....

Great Family Resort!

Pretty beach with many large palm trees for shade and you get a beautiful Ocean breeze. The water is blue, calm and warm. The resort could use more loungers on the beach and by the pool, it can be difficult to find one. The food was very good, we ate mostly at the buffet. The rooms were clean but a little dated. The staff was fantastic! Helpful and polite. The Riu Fun staff were fun and tried hard to entertain and motivate you to participate in the many activities at the beach, pool and evening  [... read more]shows. We loved the music bands at night and the beach party. My 20 and 24 year old children had a great stay and so did me and my husband!
