Great Resort.. Excellent Snorkeling

This resort And grounds are beautiful. The natural beauty of everything from the palm trees, beaches and mountains are breathtaking. The food was very good especially the Brazilian restaurant. The staff just make this place memorable. The best part though is the snorkeling right off the shore. It it just beyond amazing. It is perfect for someone who likes natural beauty, snorkeling and relaxing on the beach.

Beautiful resort!

From the moment we arrived the staff were helpful and efficient. The resort is beautiful, well taken care of and extremely clean. The beach is beautiful golden/white soft sand that extends into the water for great swimming. The food was good, lots of fruit in the morning and some great a la carte at night. All in all a great family destination!

Amazing family resort !!

The grounds are beautiful, all a la carte restaurants were good. Service was excellent. Beach was amazing, great snorkelling right in front of resort. Our rooms were clean and bathrooms and public areas were always clean. Staff were helpful and spoke English.

Luxury Bahia principe

Land scape is very picturesque ,beach is good Good size of junior suite , Food excellent Service excellent We book 2 weeks of vacation in Grand Bahia Principe ,after 8 days we were offered a free up grade to Luxury Bahia principe on the island ,so we had a chance to spend 5 days there ,the transfer was very smoothly done , the personnel took very good care of us . The perfect vacation

This was my third time staying at this resort. I love it! It’s small, the beach is beautiful with snorkeling right there, the food is always very good and the staff are excellent! There was an activity or entertainment going on all day by the pool or the beach, or there was a quiet pool at the other end of the resort for people who prefer less music and activities. The beach vendors work for an association, so they were very polite and not pushy. I look forward to staying here again!

Beautiful Resort and beaches, fantastic trip!!

The Resort Bahia Principe El Portillo in Samana, Dominican Republic was fantastic. Absolutely no complaints with the facilities or the food .... and the beaches were very impressive! The staff were all very friendly and work very hard! This is our second time at a Bahia Resort and they have high standards which is noticeable. Thank you Laura Mulvihill Spry from Trip Central for another amazing experience! You know your stuff and nailed it once again for us!

Lovely Spot

Rating 1- 10 (high) The hotel, - 8 Cleanliness - 10 Check in ...too long, - 7 staff, - 9 beach and water, - 10 grounds were lovely and so clean. - 9 Food was good, - 7 restaurants even better but we could not get reservations at all of them. - 8 We did request a king bed but got 2 doubles! 😆😕 not good! - 5 We requested a lock off room for easy babysitting with the grandchildren and only got it after much nagging. (2 days later this much more unpacked and more inconvenient. We [... read more] had also asked for a building close to main facilities as we had a special needs child with braces, ended up with building farthest away. -5 Activities - 8 Staff are Amazing - 9 Shows were very good. ( saw only 2) - 9 Over all, nice place but now know how to proceed Maybe a bit better. Check out should be co-ordinated with plane flight times, this would be a huge plus.

Well staffed, family-friendly resort

The room was spacious and immaculately cleaned every day, There were staff everywhere to carry out all of the various jobs to keep the resort clean and well-stocked. We only ate at the Italian a la carte restaurant, which was very good. Options were fairly limited for times at the a la carte restaurants for the Air Canada vacations customers, they probably save the good time slots for Bahia Principe customers. The beach seemed to be cleaned almost hourly, there would be someone coming around with a rake and wheelbarrow to pick up the reeds washed ashore. I've never seen anything like it. In terms of souvenirs we found the beach vendors to be much easier to deal with, and willing to negotiate. The local shops at Las Terrenas would not negotiate and were pricier.

Awesome family resort

A beautiful and clean resort that’s compact, well organized and family friendly. The beach is incredible, food is great, service is perfect and everyone is so nice. They’ve got tons of activities for kids and adults, and you’ll never be bored. This is probably one of the nicer resorts we’ve been to. Highly recommended

Nice resort

The report is in a very nice location .. the beach is excellent.. overall the villas and the rooms are clean and spacious but some of them need updating. Room services are good choice for couples and families with babies.

Everithing OK.

We spend one week in EL Portillo in December. I tried to remember anything negative and could not. Check in was amazingly fast and room was ready. in our unit everything was working, fridge filled with beer, water and softdrinks. And every day it was replenished. Food and drinks were ok, guys in all bars work very fast and you never have to wait long for your drink. No big waves like in Punta Cana but a lot of reefs close to shore so have to careful when swim, but can watch fish around them. S [... read more]ervice's good organized -I have some problems with seif, called "0" and in several minutes guy was at our door. Resort is pretty small, they arranged place outside for shows but everybody sitting on the same level and stage very low. Bar in the lobby closed at 11 p.m. I think its pretty early. And would be good to have big numbers of buildings so you can see it from distance, now there are only small signs close to entrance. This resort is very good for somebody who looking for small, quiet place.

9th Time

Smaller quiet hotel. Everything close by, beach is calm and no big hotels on either side for miles. Great walking beach and very scenic. Been there 9 times now. Food pretty good and staff are super. Drinks on the beach are of middle shelf standards.

Even better the second time!!!

It was hard to believe, but it was better. And as far as we were concerned the first time we were at this resort, we thought it was amazing then. But they have added to the restaurant on the beach, were we would go for the luncheon buffet. They added onto to the lounge pass the lobby with additional indoor and outdoor seating. The food was great at the dining room (buffet) but they also had 6 a la carte restaurants. We went to Portofino, Italian which was lovely. Food was good as well as  [... read more]the atmosphere. We were booked into the Rodizio, Brazilian, but never made it. Entertainment was wonderful - the Michael Jackson show as well as a marvellous tenor, his voice was amazing and then there was the guitarist from Venezula. He did a song of Santana, and you thought it was the original. There was a Studio 57 night, with great music and everyone was up dancing to the likes of Saturday Night Fever etc. The bar staff was great, a shout out to Jorge - can't wait to see him again. Room was lovely and always kept spotless. As for the beach and the ocean, it was spectacular - you could walk for miles. We took bread into the ocean near the coral and the show of colourful fish was great. Our agent Candice Anger had us in the Golden Club and we were checked into our room at the airport with our bracelets and our room was ready when we got there - with our beach towels in the room. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. Cannot wait to go back.

Happy we returned to ElPortillo

We stayed at GBP El Portillo back in March and returned in November as we liked it so much. This resort is good value and affordable to come back to time and time again. The food is so good here. The buffet has such a good assortment of food for all meals. The beach is a highlight of this resort. You can walk for miles enjoying the beautiful scenery. The mountains off to the right make it seem like you are in Hawaii. This time we got Royal Golden package with Air Transat. It offered a clo [... read more]ser room, some potato chips and the use of the club room which is air conditioned and has some top shelf liquor (canadian rye), coffee maker and pastries. I believe it also offered us 24 hour wifi in the lobby. In March we had a superior room which was located at the back of the resort. I found this room newer and quieter but had further to walk. The RG room was closer but older and a bit smelly but essentially the same. The absolute best part of this trip is the staff. They are the friendliest, kind, hardworking people. Jorge at the pool bar has the best smile and is my favourite staff member. The bar is very busy at times and he never lost his cool with the demanding people. Just kept on smiling....Love you Jorge! Augustin in the lobby bar is a favourite as well. Alway there with a smile. Our favourite booking company is Trip Central so hats of to the staff there. We will return and be happy when we are greeted like family ... see you soon!

Great memories..

Very clean, not noisy or crazy...Lots of fun,new friends..We enjoyed are stay, no issues with food or beach at all. Fridge filled daily, we all enjoyed it all 3 couples..met some new friendships out of it also !

The hotel was perfect, the food was great and the beach was amazing. The staff was so nice. The transfer from the airport to the hotel was very quick the location perfect. I would return to this place anytime..

TRIP CENTRAL ROCKS - AMAZING RESORT

1st we have to say this was our 1st time booking through Trip Central and all of the staff were Phenomenal to deal with. Especially Melissa Alexander. They exceeded our expectations. Combination of Punta Cana soft Sand and Puerto Plata color, water was clear enough to see fish and snorkel everyday and WARM for being Atlantic Ocean 85+*. We also found the "Quiet pool" which most days we had to ourselves with our own bar tender and lifeguard Santos. The entertainment staff really focus on audience participation. Only draw back was a little lacking of things to do or places to go if you are a Night Owl. Very Family Friendly resort. WE WILL BE BACK!! Five star all the way!

Staff is really friendly and work hard to please. Food is A+ Beach is wonderful and has plenty of walking shoreline.our room was beautiful and well appointed. Shuttle service is efficient. The Relax Pool is amazing. Bar service and drink variety were great.
