The Resort that makes you feel like going back

The resort was great...very clean and beautiful grounds. This was the 3rd time we were there. The staff are so friendly. Alex from the animation team reminds me a young Jerry Lewis. Some of the staff work both the buffet and the A La Carte's. They go out of their way to give you excellent service. koodo's to Alba from the Gourmet Restaurant she made sure that the next time we were going there for supper there would be Sambuca for us as our after dinner drink.

Ok resort!

We stayed from Aug 7-14, 2016. The hotel was nice. The staff was friendly. Some issues we encountered: 1. Room was dated. 2. Bath tub had stains. 3. Ran out of water while in the middle of a shower. 4. Cockroach in the room. We've told the front desk about these and was advised they will have someone look at it. They cleaned our room and left 2 shirts and a small bottle of liquor in the room, I guess to appease us. Food and drinks are good. There are times when some are too salty. We've [... read more] had a few occasions when we've had to wait a loooong time to get some agua. Also, dinner at Dolce Vita took the longest. We left after 1 hr & 45 mins. Dessert took so long so we decided to just have some coffee at the lobby bar. The beach was small, not white sand! The pools were ok. The beach and hills villa pools are more private and quiet. Overall it was an ok stay. We won't come back.

Beautiful resort

Resort is massive! Beautiful! Clean and well maintained. It's got spectacular views from every point. Food was great! We had a fabulous stay! And we definitely recommend Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa. We would def consider coming back!

Beautiful Resort!

The grounds are beautiful- although the rooms are a little dated. The beach area is small but nice and at no time did I feel like it was lacking anything. The great thing about the beach is there is a lunch time buffet set up everyday so you can eat without going into the hotel. The hotel is a small hotel in the sense that its only 250 rooms so at no time do you feel overwhelmed by people. The food was good and the resort was very clean. Beautiful resort

Nice size rooms, clean and updated. Food was good, service was A+. Only thing I didn't like was smoking was permitted anywhere outside. Would also have liked to see the entertainment be done outside rather than indoors.

Great Resort, wonderful service!

Enjoyed our stay overall, despite number of flaws that are created by the management for whatever reason. The food, the people who served us (especially in the restaurant and entertaining team were just great. The place is gorges and I like that you need to walk up and down all the time (unless you are lazy and taking shuttle). One BIG think: limited internet!!! Come on. we are in 21st century. Immaculate resort, friendly staff

Beautiful unique resort with nice separate beach and pool areas. Great views and entertainment staff were nice. Very quiet in spots for private relaxing. Food was outstanding especially on gala night and maids putting rose petals on the bed was a nice touch

Very nice resort!

The grounds were beautiful and nicely maintained. The views were spectacular! The hotel was clean and neat, room maintenance was timely and good. The hotel corsierge was immediately responsive to our requests to change light bulbs and provide us with robes. The food was very very good, varied, colorfully decorated, and hearty. Lots of fish, legumes, pasta, veggies, fruits, fruit juices, and sweets on a daily basis. Special theme nights were also very good, especially the Dominican night. The entertainment (animacion) was quite good, especially the Michael Jackson show (a true channeling of Michael Jackson!) Beaches were good but with a little bit of difficulty finding chairs and shade in the main beach. We did not use the pool at all because it was extremely crowded with the influx of a large group from Newfoundland who arrived with two bands (very good by the way), and there, all the chairs were taken as well. The Spanish lessons were fun! The animacion team was very nice and fun, too, especially Miguel, who is a great natural dancer! Overall, it was a very nice experience and I would go back.

Beautiful bar terrace with excellent view

A beautiful resort, a bit challenging if one does not have a room in the main building, with an excellent terrace. The beach may not appeal to those looking for those endless sandy beaches with (most often) waves crashing on it, but it is a relatively small and calm bay. We wish we had more sunny days to enjoy it. Food was very good, excellent we would say, especially for those looking for some kind of 'mediterranean' food with lots of vegetables; not so much into the 'grilling' stuff. What a beautiful place to spend our vacation. The scenery is picturesque. It is so nice to visit an area that is not over-commercialized with massive hotels side by side. The hotel was in immaculate condition and the staff would stop at nothing to deliver guests a fantastic experience. The ocean water was so warm and because you're in a bay there was no fear of large waves when kayaking or with small children. The food was fresh and there was enough variety for everyone. It is hard to find a com [... read more]plaint except to say the wifi was "free" meaning 1 hour a day and it was very spotty. We purchased an hour for the week so we could have access in our room. The service was slightly better with that option.

Great Vacation

We visited April 16 to 23. If you want to laugh, relax, have a drink and meet great new friends, this resort may be for you. This without a doubt is the best vacation we have ever been on. Yes, the resort is clean and bright. The rooms are spotless and fresh. The pools are refreshing and clean. The food is excellent, especially the buffet. Miguel, my boy, is the sweetest, kindest young man and one helluva a dancer. To our girls, Esther, Kathryn, Rosi, Anyori and Carolin; thank you for for making us laugh, put up with my bad dancing and treating us like family. A special shout out to sweet Alba, Brenda and Mercedes in the buffet. We will miss you all! The one minus, was the last day. A large group from Newfoundland came in and getting service at the pool bar was near impossible. It may have more to do with the attitude of our Canadian cousins from the east. Some made it very clear they were taking over the resort. That's not the Canadian way. Dinner at the seafood restaurant was underwhelming. We had dinner with another couple and they kept mixing up our orders. We were never offered an after dinner drink, but all the tables around us were. We were only offered coffee when we got up to leave. That coupled with a 25 minute wait for the shuttle despite asking several times was disappointing. We will put these experiences down to training and supervision and not allow it to ruin all the wonderful experiences at this great resort. The new friendships we made were wonderful and we hope are lasting. We are looking forward to returning next year.

7 Days of Awesome

From start to finish a terrific experience!! Staff were very attentive and friendly. Gorgeous view of the cove from our room. The coffee terrace overlooking the marina and town was a great spot to relax before dinner. Highly recommended!

Beautiful scenery

Very pretty resort,great food and friendly staff.i was apprehensive due to all the stairs but the trolleys were always available to take you around.the beds however were the worse I ever experienced,extremely old and sagging,the lighting in the rooms were terrible,had to go out on balcony to do makeup as it was so dark,air conditioning was also poor in the room.first time I had a shower I was greeted by the largest cock roach I ever seen.staff for the most part very pleasant,drinks were not very [... read more] good and entertainment very corny.the beach and views and lovely food made up the difference.had an ocean view room which had amazing view

Very good resort

Hotel was very clean, staff friendly, beach and pool amazing. Room was well appointed and included an air conditioner. Food was okay with mostly buffet style food; catering to many individuals tastes. More of an adult resort than for kids.

Loved the Resort!

This resort is beautiful, lush, and very well taken care of. We stayed in the villas in "1000" room range and loved it. The only thing I would caution about the Villas is the stairs. You must be able to do lots of stairs. The villas also have a pool, nice and quiet and lovely. There are 5 pools at the resort and 2 beaches which makes it easy to move around and always find a spot for the day. This is a smaller resort which means no line up, lots of variety, and really lovely. I wouldn't recommend [... read more] for families though. Just my opinion. I wouldn't bring my boys (age 6 & 7). There are more couples as opposed to families. The restaurants are all great including the buffet. No Complaints about the food at all! The food was great. The resort is on many elevations, however they have a trolley that will take you around if you don't want to walk.

Outstanding resort!

We were a group of 6 women aged 39 to 66 years and we had a blast! The accommodations at this resort are first class, clean and in great shape. No repairs needed anywhere that we could see. The staff were awesome! What ever we needed, we were responded to immediately. The Dominican people are beautiful people both physically and in spirit. The only shortcoming for all of us was the beach. It's not the nice wide sandy beach that you can walk for miles in the sunshine on. But the pools made up for what the beach lacked. We would most certainly return to this resort again.

Hard to Beat Views

There isn't really anything bad I can say about this resort. I have stayed at many resorts including Hard Rock in Punta Cana and this one was my faviourite. The views are just breathtaking and can't be beat. Because you are in a bay the ocean is always very calm, warm and great for swimming. The food was great and they always had a great selection. The one gourmet restaurant was by far the best and had the best steak I have ever had. If you were older the stairs might be a problem but so long as you are in the main building you should be fine. The night shows were pretty good and they do have a Disco at night that I never went to but obviously places like Hard Rock would be better if you like the party scene but this place was perfect for us. Also even though the hotel was sold out, there was never more than maybe 10 people in the pool, almost never had any trouble finding a seat in the shade at the pool or the beach, and there was never a wait for the restaurants. Also the fact that the resort is right off the city is awesome and very different from any other resort I have ever been to. I will 100% be going back to this resort!

Beatiful Hotel and EXCELLENT STAFF.

The best thing about this hotel is the ANIMATION TEAM and their hospitality. The Bahia Principle had a wonderful buffet and variety for the inclusive package. I recommend the Italian restaurant on site as well, although I personally did not enjoy the others, with a party of (9) we had mixed reviews of the gourmet restaurants on site - but there are 3 to choose from... so something for everyone!

Truly amazing resort

The hotel; very attractive, and elegant (on the highest elevation and on a cliff) The sea-view from the main hotel building; very romantic (small islands connected with bridges and mountains) The landscaping; beautifully designed with paths to walk even for people with mobility issue. The restaurants and food; 24 hours available, variety, yummy and delicious. The entertainment; fantastic!! The town of Samana; can see from the hotel, very picturesque. The hotel "service taxi" will take you there and pick you up every hour for free. The travel time 5 minutes. Tours; fantastic!. Thank you Edwardo! (tourist guide) I took catamaran to the Los Haitises National Park and a tour to the Playa Rincon-on the other side of the Samana Peninsula (Atlantic Ocean). I advise to take the "option plus" version. My room was on the fourth floor (407). Make sure to make a sew-view reservation in the main building. Villas have separate swimming pools but no beach and they need to come to the main area. If you are a traveler and not only beach body this resort is a perfect choice for you.

Wonderful vacation!!

This resort was amazing. Everyone from the staff were so nice. They always wanted to make sure you were happy. The view, no matter where you were was spectacular. I cannot wait to return to Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa!!
