Great food, customer service, activities, shows, drinks, cleanieness. staff were very nice and accommodating. I'd definitely recommend this place to either couples or families. Lots of activities outside the hotel were available for affordable prices.

For pool goers only

The resort was average - specialty restaurants were low to average, the beach was horrible and the amenities were average. The servers were below average: tables, were not cleared quickly, no special service even when tipped nicely, and 15 min waits in the a.m. for coffee. We normally choose vacations for beach and food - we were very disappointed. The highlight of our vacation was spending time at the pool bar where the servers were outgoing and entertaining.

Amazing Jerk

Great atmosphere, beach water was a bit grimey, Kayaking and watersports were terrific, wish the bed was a king instead of 2 doubles, pillows were very lumpy, Flight was on time, drinks were tasty, entertainment was fun. Food was delicious.

Nice Hotel, poor weather

Hotel was nice and clean, staff friendly, front desk/excursion people very helpful and knowledgeable. Condition of pool was a little run down, mainly because of the many missing tiles in the pool and on the water recliners. Ongoing painting was also being done, but on a small scale. Food in the Italian restaurant was nothing special, Oriental restaurant a bit better, Steak house terrible! The buffets and Jerk-on-the-Beach were the better ways to eat. Nightly entertainment was varied and on par with the rest of the resort. Beach area was on the smaller side, but still big enough that you didn't feel crowded. This could be also due to the overcast weather for 5 of the 7 days...better to visit Jamaica in February than January. All in all a solid mid-grade hotel, great for a family or people on a budget.

Very enjoyable time,great hotel with ex service

All activities available and close ,beach,pool,dinning.service was great and 99 / were very friendly. The hotel was spacious with lots of meeting places.the staff was great at helping to solve concerns,

Beautiful,clean and friendly

The Riu Montego Bay has the cleanest rooms, washrooms and rooms that we have ever stayed at. All the staff were amazing, always smiling even though they work such long hours.we made many friends that we will hopefully see next year when wr go back We went on the catamaran excursion to Margaritaville and had the best time. Definitely the best $50 ever spent! The weather was beautiful with a little rain two evenings for about 10 minutes. Would not stay at Riu hotels again

I booked in September for six people to travel for Christmas , we requested same floor we were in different building .I was traveling with my kids. They changed it to same building all different floors. Only one buffet restaurant and could only book alacarte resturant two days at a time. I stood in line to book 30 minutes to book resturant. The food was great most staff was amazing. They are all underpaid... They only fill your room bar every other day with 2 or 4 beers. Best vacation ever!!!!!

No negative reviews everything was fantastic!!! Clean resort amazing food and the entertainment crew was amazing!!!! Worth every penny!!!!!!! Definitely going again!! Maybe once a year!!!i love Rui Montego bay!!!

Everything you need within resort....entertainment plentiful...staff accomodating....very clean and lots of loungers for relaxing around pool and beach....variety of food and excellent presentation ...well stocked rooms with your own mini bar

Awesome last minute vacay

We had a wonderful time on our recent visit to Riu Montego Bay. Staff was helpful in any request we had, they are so amazing they will even climb the trees to get u a coconut!! (If they do- please don't forget to tip!!) There was not one issue while we were there. Everything was perfect from the time we got off the plane until we left the resort. We spent every day at the pool bar, the bartenders were amazing, always took such good care of us and sooooooo BEYOND ENTERTAINING!! The beach is not the best, but the jerk chicken hut on the beach is!!! We spent every lunch there, we didn't even try the lunch buffet as we enjoyed the jerk hut so much. As for dinner, we preferred the buffet over the a la cartes. I would recommend sticking to the buffet. We also had an amazing server there, if you go, try to sit in Kesrick's section. Rooms as well as entire resort were clean and maintained well throughout our entire trip. One recommendation : There is a glass bottom boat (Stingray Tours I think was the name) run by Captain Reba, he and Ryan will take you out on the ocean and bring you snorkeling for somewhere around $20/person (think it depends on size of your group). Most amazing experience! At the end you can swim under the boat and they will take a picture of you! Thanks so much guys!! We also did the Dunn's Falls climb, I would definitely recommend doing this, however try and find a company other than Cool runnings...they claim the excursion has a party boat cruise at the end, with drinks included...There was NO RUM IN THE DRINKS!!! Maybe they thought we wouldn't notice, but they claimed there was Wray and Nephew overproof rum in the "RUM punch", if you have ever drank it you would know that it has a smell and taste that is distinctive and no matter how little of an amount is in it, you would know! That really though, is my only complaint! The rest of the trip was awesome and I would go back - particularly for my pool bar staff!! Thanks again for the experience!!

Good

People were nice, the beach had seaweed so much that a bulldozer was on the beach with us the first day but I guess it was from storm they had, the sand in the water was mushy so didn't go in the water there, the wine was undrinkable. The food was good and plentiful and the cocktails were good. The room was nice.

Good time!

Resort was lovely. Rooms smelled musty so be sure to take a scented candle and the beach was disappointing. The sand in the water was slimy. The beach itself was nice but there was not where to walk to - short beach!

Doesn't deserve the RIU name ...

Beach was horrible , service was brutal, buffet ran out of food at all meal times. Would have to wait 15 mins for the good food - there was NEVER enough. The swim up bar was ithe only thing enjoyable but there wasn't anything else to choose from. The location is stupid busy outside of the resort so there's no peace and quite. No only do you deal with the massive passenger planes flying above all day you also have many small utility planes flying all night and day. We stayed at the Bahia in Runaw [... read more]ay Bay and this RIU didn't come close to it when it comes to staff and quality of food beach and accommodations. At our say at the RIU we had no fridge our whole stay even after many phone callas and visits from staff. Very disappointed at this place

Awesome hospitality

One amazing resort. I've travelled a lot but this resort is the most spectacular one I've been to. Every employee went over and above with hospitality , whether it was the stunning cleanliness of our room or morning waiter having see us coming. Would have our coffee and juice waiting for us at our fav table. Supper was the same, our evening waiter would always make room in his section for us. Everyone is friendly the nightly shows offers something for all age groups. We can't wait to return. The buffet had something for all ages. The crepes in the morning were fab. Every. Ought different theme for main course. Simply. Amazing With the airport only 7 mins away. No long commute after a long flight.

Good resort

the resort it self is nice. Food was excellet!! Everythuing I tried was deliciouse. THe staff could be a bit more frendly but all in all they were okay. The pools are very nice and the pool bar is a great place to hang out. The beach though is real bad. THe sand is rocky and the water is full of weeds and fish.
