Horrible!

I don’t usually write reviews but I think this hotel needs one. I want to start with the stuff at the front desk that were not very nice and every time you asked them for something such as a bottle of water they said that they have to send it to the room but this took 24 hrs on two different occasions and you were better off buying at the store of the resort. The beach TOWELS were a huge problem for 5DAYS they said they don’t have new ones and yes we had to use the same ones 5 days in a row  [... read more]yeahhh gross, I have never experienced this before at any other resort. Pretty much if want good service DO NOT go to this resort because you won’t get it even if you tip them. Our room was also a problem and the balcony door wasn’t closing properly but again they said there is nothing that they can do because they do not have any other rooms available.

Average resort but not 4 1/2 stars

We recently visited Iberostar Laguna Azul hotel in Varadero after 10 years .If you are looking for 4 or 5 star hotel this is NOT the place , and for the price you pay you can get better services anywhere else. The place was in the past nice but now is outdated requiring a major facelift . Grounds are nice and well kept. Food is repetitive consisting in a lot of cooked meats , rice , pasta but no BBQ . They running out daily of clean dishes , mint for mohito/drinks, no straw [... read more]s and sometimes the same drink you order has different taste than same you had before . Rooms are outdated and bedsheets have a wired smell. Beach is beautiful with not enough shades ( some of the shades/umbrellas are damaged on the ground). Pool had few missing tiles which can cause injuries and requires fixing . People are friendly although the service is slow despite of tipping or not.

Overall good experience

The hotel itself is in pretty good shape, the location, the way the grounds are laid out everything is in good proximity etc. We were booked into the relax area which was nice, there was pool and restaurant specifically for those who purchased this option which was nice but we were disappointed in that they would not let our 17 year old son into the restaurant because technically he is a child. Food was just ok and at the al a carte restaurants be prepared that the first thing the waiter tells you is all the items they don't and the list of menu substitutions. But it's Cuba and that's what they live with so not necessarily the hotels fault. Most dishes at the buffet are not labelled so you have to be a bit adventuress if you want to try something that you have no idea what it is for ex it could be rabbit and not chicken.

Great resort

This was a great resort that my boyfriend and I have visited from February 20th-27th. If You’re going away as couples and are looking for a party resort this wouldn’t be your best choice but if you’re looking for a nice relaxing trip it’s great. Although it was hard finding beach chairs due to the resort being full but everything was great. Also the rooms were pretty ran down if you are a very picky person overall I wouldn’t recommend Cuba at But if you don’t mind the little things like the room not bothering you then it’s good. It would’ve been nicer if the room was a little more modern but again you’re there to spend your time in the sun not in your room. Beach and ocean were amazing.

Amazing resort and great service

We had a great time at the resort, the food was good, the service was great and overall the entire experience was amazing. The downside was that the washroom in our room did not have ventilation and the restaurants were too crowded. Other than that, thumbs up!

Not quite as advertised

Although the beack and staff were wonderful, there were a few things about the hotel that were a bit of a let down. As another reviewer said, the hotel seems to be in decline. It was our family's time there but we talked to several other families who had been there before who said that the resort had slid downhill. The former waterfall is no longer working, the jacuzzi on the 5th floor was running but with only cold water. We had to use our same blue beack towels for the entire 10 days we were there as no replacements were available. The bath towels in the room smelled quite a bit as though there were not enough detergent used. I am not condemning the place as the food was decent enough and the people were great. I would actually rate this place as more of a 3+ stars and not a 4.

Nice resorts

Everything is nice very good hotel to stay there. Very nice people who working there. Food is good. Service is good and nice. Hotel is very nice. Entertainment is nice for adults and kids. Next time see you there.

Beautiful

The resort itself is beautiful! The rooms are dated. Do not upgrade not worth it! The food was ok (it’s Cuba) The hospitality was great. Overall great resort. Just need to focus more on the rooms - hard to get clean towels etc Travelled Feb17-24 Would return again

Good value resort

This hotel offers many features for teen-twenty year old families. Many sports, games, dancing at disco, nightly show performances and the best beach in Cuba. Victor leads the entertainment team well and interacts positively with guests. Maintenance falls a bit behind lately as some signs of wear but the resort itself overall is good.

Great stay

Well kept, clean, friendly, safe and good food to choose from. Nice excursions to choose from. Front staff where always very helpful and comprehensive. We did had to exercise patients as line ups for food, coffee, wifi etc.

Welcome to Cuba!

I’m giving it 41/2 stars , Cuba rating. I found staff friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean, but the high humidity takes its toll, but I didn’t come to hang out in my room! Poolside clean, beaches beautiful! Food......when in Cuba, eat like a Cuban and you won’t be disappointed! Lots of fruit and veggies, but not as flavourful as we are used to. Small store on resort, also some venders. Evening entertainment was average, day time shows were fun. Havana worth the long day to explore the countries history.( we hired a local, and was very personal and informative!) we went to explore Cuba, the culture, history, food and had a great experience! People are friendly, never did I feel unsafe!

Resort gone down hill

As my husband and I have stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and found this hotel a great place to stay, we found this hotel has extremely gone down hill. There has been many changes such as less bars, no more water fall as shown in pics and very poor service in buffet eg: many times had to search for a worker asking for water or cutlery. When it came to exchange our beach towel they had no clean ones. We and everyone we spoke to had their same beach towels for the whole week. This resort was known as a 4+ and would now rate it a 3.

Amazing Trip (9 out of 10)

It was such an amazing trip! The beach, pools, bars, Catamaran trip, beach party, staff, everything was so perfect! Except for food! Food needs to be worked on!! Staff were extremely nice! Weather in February was GREAT! Just a perfect trip!

Disappointed

Nothing fancy… in need of major facelift. Upholstery was very stained and worn in rooms and dining areas. Patio door in room was very hard to open and closet doors were missing. We were three in our room and we each had a bath towel - no bath mat, hand towels or face cloths. We had to ask often to switch them out as they did not dry because of the humidity. Air conditioning was very noisy, and in room phone did not work. Stuck with the same beach towel all week … dry ones were never availabl [... read more]e. Dishes weren’t always available … you had to wait for them to bring some out and there were lineups. The food wasn’t great but we expected that. The bars would run out of stuff and the mixed drinks were inconsistent.

Geat Resort

We love to this Resort. Everything was clean and friendly and the food was good. I would recommend upgrading to the relaxed section. We had a a la cart breakfast and lunch which was very good and much quieter than the buffet. The Pool was nice and had a good swim up bar. The beach was big and cleaned every day and there was lots of shade. Entertainment was good. Dinner a la carts for great. We did have troubles with her room the air conditioner was broken. Gorgeous beach!

This was our first trip to Cuba. The beach was gorgeous, the ocean was warm, calm and lovely. The resort grounds were well kept, the pools were clean and large. The food was only ok. We knew it would not be fantastic, but were disappointed that there was not more seafood, and fresh fruit and vegetables. The rooms were large, beds were ok. Unbiased and Honest Review

I just wanted to share our honest review of this property, so that future guests can make an informed decision about staying here. This was our 9th total all-inclusive, first in Cuba. My wife and I, along with another couple stayed at this resort from February 5-12th. Check-in was smooth and efficient. No welcome drink as promised with our package, but we're easy going, no big deal. Rooms: We stayed in Building 20, which is the Relax Upgrade block. Our room was clean and sufficient, but ce [... read more]rtainly needed some repairs. Shower curtain was disgusting, towels were dirty, an overall paint job is required. I don't spend a lot of time in the room, so all of this wasn't a huge deal to me. Our travel companions had a completely different experience. Their room was filthy, with hand prints on the walls and mold everywhere. To the resorts credit, after complaint they were moved to a better room the next day. Food: I'm not picky, but the food here isn't very good. One of the biggest issues is that nothing is labelled. This honestly doesn't make any sense. How are you supposed to know what you're eating? I understand Cuba has it's limitations, but they constantly ran out of supplies and the coffee at the buffet looked grey. We survived on pizza for the most part. Fries would have been nice but they were in short supply. Drinks: Depends where you got them. The lobby drinks were marginally better than the rest of the resort. Where this resort shines is with there lobby staff. The girls that came around to take drink orders were FANTASTIC. Super attentive and very friendly. The gentleman who serves unique drinks in the middle of the lobby is another gem. Always smiling and happy. The guys in the lobby bar were hit and miss. The thing I couldn't understand was why some drinks were available at the beach, or pool but not at the lobby. Typically you find the best drinks at the lobby, but they didn't have the supplies to make a Mojito. Aren't these a traditional Cuban drink? We also went to the Japanese and Gourmet ala cartes. Japanese was decent, but no chicken. Probably a supply issue. The Gourmet also had a bunch of stuff taken off the menu due to supply issues. We actually really enjoyed the flavour of our meals here, although the meat was rather tough to chew. Other Notable Things: - You keep the same beach towel all week. This is ridiculous and disgusting - Felix at the pool bar is an awesome guy. Ask him for a coochie-coochie - Orlando the gardener is one of the nicest people I've ever met - The beach is great - You get one 1.5L of bottled water per day. If you only drink half and leave it in the fridge, you won't get another, so bring it with you. Summary: Unfortunately, I won't be back to this resort. It's average at best and requires a complete shut-down to take care of the miscellaneous maintenance issues. I might recommend this resort to those who have never gone to an all-inclusive before as a first one.

Beautiful Resort

Overall this is a beautiful Resort. We enjoyed our stay and everyone was very friendly. A few recommendation would be to have some sort of food names in the buffet... sometimes I could not figure what I was looking at and just guessed at that it was with regards to meat and fish. Amazing Resort

Very friendly people, beautiful beach, room is clean, just need a bit more maintenance. Very nice swimming pools. Food is above average. Bar and drink are very good. Overall experience is wonderful. Will go back again.

Spectacular♥️ Paradise

Book it ! This place is an Outstanding Beautiful Paradise Oasis vacation for family & couples of all ages ! The dinning facilities are Terrific !
