I won’t be back!!

I was in building 21, toilet seat was off toilet, shower was wrapped around tub faucets, wouldn’t stay on wall, small bugs in bathroom, walls were dirty, bed skirt filthy, main washrooms were dirty. Don’t recommend anyone going there. I booked Diamond Club package and got no extra treatment like I was supposed too. Bars were too crowded, always running out of orange juice, pizza, fries and even expected us to purchase wine at one of the all le carts. Save your money book somewhere else. Hotel was " dated" rooms were very poor, need up grading. Service in general was poor, some of the employees were actually rude which I have never found in Cuba before. Main eating area was below average. entertainment was good, lots of seats. Washroom in one bar had no toilet paper Beach was nice but too congested , Sanctuary area did not look any better. Been to Cuba now 6 times, this was my least favourite. Exchange bank although had extended hours was very poor , never en [... read more]ough change so we could use for tips.Many people complained about this, and very slow.

Ok resort

Hotel was ok. Grounds nice. Beds were not great. When I sat down to use toilet the seat flew off. Pools nice. Pool area entertainment very weak. Beach area nice. Ocean awesome. Very disappointed with the alacarte restaurants. And only allowed 2 a week. Buffet was awful. Line ups all the time. Food cold. Same thing every day. Overall services weak. Night we got there at 4 AM they gave me my room keys. Got to room it was not clean. They hadn’t cleaned it from last guests yet. Couldn’t get he [... read more]lp with luggage. Drug my luggage back to lobby. Got keys for new room. No help with luggage. Had to drag it back to different building. In morning asked if room was cleaned so I could move back to other building to be close to family. They said building is full. Whole vacation I was in different building than family I came with. Overall I would not recommend resort. Will never go back there again.

Very Large Resort

Grand Memories is an older resort and needs to be updated, for example our TV likely came over on the Ark. It was very old and did not work for the first 4 days we were there. Our toilet leaked all over the floor every time we flushed it , that took 2 days to repair. Grand Memories is very large and spread out, this did not work well for my Husband & I as he is 90 and I am 78 and walking is for the most part very hard for both of us. Nice Resort ... but

The rooms were nice, food was very good and entertainment was excellent. The grounds, beach, and pools were also good; however, there were some serious problems. There was NO toilet paper in most of the public bathrooms most of the time. Our safe was locked by previous roomers and it took staff three days to come and open it, meaning we had to keep our passports, money, etc. on us at all times until the end of the third day. Towels were replaced with bath mats on several occasions and the r [... read more]oom didn't appear to be swept as it was very gritty by the end of our stay. The bars were out of many liquors multiple times during our stay, including mint for Mojito's which the island claims is their number 1 drink. The advertised golf carts to assist people around the grounds were unreliable, at times waiting up to an hour to be picked up. All of the above left a poor impression and left us dealing with multiple problems on a daily basis.

Good size resort.

The resort is a nice size, it is long, I was in building #14, this building is quite far from the beach, so if you love walking then you will not mind being in buildings 14, 12 & 11. I must say we had a fabulous pool in front of these rooms, rooms in the 20 numbers is closer to the beach, lobby, buffet and party pool. I had no issues with my room, just missing a phone, told my Sunwing rep and she ordered one for the room, and they put the phone in the washroom. What I liked is the bank for money exchange is open 24 hours, just closes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so if there is a lineup go later, oh yes make sure that your Canadian bills are not torn, as they will not accept them. The only real issue I had with this resort is the crowds, lineup in the buffet can get really bad, if you go after 8pm you will find it way too busy and you may not get in. I was here in March but told by returning guests it is like this all the time in March and April, so way too busy and loud. The food was ok, yes some foods are cold at the buffet but there is a microwave so just use it and you will have hot food, I did. The staff are great, my maid left me a nice note every day and wished me a nice trip back home, this was a nice touch. Oh yes, for those of you like me who haven’t been to Cuba for a few years, I found out you no longer need to pay that $25.00 CUC when you leave Cuba.

Wonderful resort! March 2019

Great resort! Two adults, two kids - March 2019 Fantastic beach, lively professional nightly shows, very friendly and accommodating staff throughout the resort. This is a large resort. There is a lot of variety for meals ranging from the buffet to the smaller snack bar to the beach BBQ. All are good and offer lots of choices. Issues: Some venues had long lineups. Alcoholic drinks seemed diluted. Clean rooms, fun activities daily for kids. The washrooms were clean and well organized. We did two day activities: catamaran and jeep tour which we highly recommend. These were offered by SunWing tours. Weather was fabulous. Overall great trip!

Worst resort ever

Well how do i begin about this nightmare of a vacation. I had no issues at all with my booking agent but the resort itself is another story. First day i got sexually assaulted by a man working the grounds. Not to mention all the cat calls from every man that works there. Sorry but if i don't know you don't touch my body. Then i had lent a dress to a friend to wear and she had left it at the front desk when she was done. Even took a photo of it when she left it. After fighting with the staff I ask for the manager and asked him if he had seen the dress in the picture I had showed him low and behold it was right on the desk behind the lip. He literally moved 1 foot and grabbed the dress. So trying to steal from me much? Then as I was checking out they tried to charge me for a wine that I never had the entire trip. I did not drink a single bottle of wine while I was there. That's fine and dandy we got that sorted turns out there is another girl there with the same middle name as me. But when I ask for a proof that nothing was owing on my account it was like pulling teeth. All I got was attitude. The service there is absolutely horrible the food there is absolutely horrible I physically got sick from the food three times. This is one Resort I will never go back to and I've been to Cuba five times now. I just hope someone else there reads this and takes my warning to Heart.

Gorgeous Resort

This resort was all we could have imagined. We loved our time there and would consider returning for another great time. Staff food room beach name it it was great. There was no reason for anyone not to eat food at this resort. The variety was so good. Rooms were kept clean. The grounds were so beautifully kept. It sure takes a lot of hard work to keep them looking like they do. Hats off to your grounds keepers. Public washrooms very nicely kept.

Best Cuba Vacation

Truly enjoyed this vacation! If you love the beach - get Diamond club! Nice service on the beach from Raul. Great Al-la-cartes - Buffett was also very good! Yudenia in Le Gourmet was a Gem, great lady! Jesus in Diamond Club setting in buffet a joy to be served by!! Will go back🥰

2nd time at this resort

This is the second year that I've been to Grand Memories and it was just as good as I remembered. This year I went alone and I had a lovely and relaxing vacation. I was staying in building 11 which is right by what I like to call the "quiet" pool. There were not as many people on this side of the resort so it was nice to relax and read by or jump into the pool to grab a drink at the bar when it was too warm. There aren't many public washrooms around this area, but my room was really close so I w [... read more]ould just go there.The room was alright nothing too fancy, but everything worked and the shower had really good water pressure. Since my room was on the main floor I had a lovely balcony where I could sit outside and get the sun in the evening. The buffets are okay. I could always find something to eat but the food is definitely bland. Make sure to make reservations for the a la carte restaurants they were hands down the best meals that I had during my stay (I've had the gourmet, asian) You should also utilize the snack bar which is open 24h a day and serve burgers/sandwiches/fries etc. It was nice to unplug for the majority of the trip but if you are looking for internet it is only available in the lobby and cuban bar (much better in the bar) not very reliable but it works. You need to buy cards at the desk in the lobby (1 peso/hour) The shows were the exact same as last year which kind of sucked since I knew what was going to happen. I still recommend checking them out especially the Grease one. I didn't spend a lot of time at the beach this trip though it was really nice (but quite busy). Everyone I know that has gone (Been twice, my parents twice, my sister, a family friend) has really enjoyed the resort. The workers are very friendly and it's really easy to find things, and for the price you can't go wrong! I will probably return sometime in the near future!

Very Disappointed

Hotel staff needs to realize that without tourist they have no jobs. They say that they survive on tips but good customer service is what gets you good tips. We paid for a "superior " room, not sure what there definition of superior is. Very tired looking room. Need to be painted, stained or dirty walls. Sliding doors very dirty. Mold in the bathtub area. My mother had a difficult time getting into the tub, very high. Poor lighting in the bathroom area.

As expected it was great

I came back yesterday for a 4 days short Hollidays. I have no expectations when travelling to Cuba. I traveled to Cuba several times. Grand Memories Varadero was better than I expected. Room was very basic, and it was clean, the food was great. I usually don't eat a lot at the resort cause Im scared to get sick or don't like the taste, but this time I gained 4 pounds. Nice weather, bad food

Nice hotel with nice staff, very bad food. This hotel is very average for the price but the beach is nice. The room was dirty, the bed dirty and the washroom was dirty. The coffee machine was dirty. The rhum was very good!

Great resort

Been to cuba 20 times , and have gone to 12 deferent hotels in Varadero . I was with a group of 13 people. . Everyone was happy with the resort. The food, rooms, pool and beach were all very good. I like to thank Guest services and the manager for making our trip very memorable.

Great experience

The resort was absolutely beautiful, although if you are not a fan of big resorts, this is not the one for you. Food was great, especially the fresh omelettes every morning. My biggest complaint is the room was a bit out dated and there were blood stains on my sheets. Staff was very friendly though.

You get what you pay for

We stayed a week here January 2019. You get what you pay for. We had a good deal on the all inclusive. The lobby staff is not very helpful. The food is average and buffet is the same every day. Italian restaurant was slow service and food cold. The Cuban restaurant had lobster which was good. The Chinese restaurant is adult only. No kids allowed. The rooms are problematic. Our first room had no phone working and ac not working. At our second room after changing, the toilet leaked and the shower  [... read more]bar was broken. Maids were nice but yell in the morning. No ‘do not disturb’ sign so they walked in as they knocked. Also no straws at bars. The drinks were ok. The restaurants were dirty around the windows. Food was cold in general ( there is a microwave to heat up). Overall, you just get what you pay for. We would not go back to this resort.

Fun Trip

The staff are what make the place fun. Exception is to Roberto in lobby who has zero people skills. It was “impossible” for him to help me get internet. Food had great variety but buffet was always cold. Not enough power in Cuba I believe. Activities were excellent and fun. Hated the smoking people did in the common areas. So backward and offensive. Room was not the best. At least we had hot water. Bed after switching rooms 3 times was still bad (broken). Fridge had to be changed, AC didn’ [... read more]t work, coffee maker had no coffee and cream/sugar. It was cleaned satisfactory everyday. Building is in rough shape. We really overlooked this part. The whole resort is just too big - too many people for staff to cater to. Too many lineups, waiting to get service at meal times and anywhere pretty much. Some staff go out of their way and aim to please. Tipping seemed like an obligation. Some even asked for tips. Overall we had a wonderful time. Met lots of great people and weather was great. Lots to do. As for value, I’m a little disappointed that some people seemed to get either a much better deal or better service. Their seems to be unfairness. Won’t be back mostly cause we want to explore another area. Create a different vacation.

Best Resort in Varadero!

4th trip to Veradero 2nd time to Grand memories and will definitely go back to this resort. Some people complain about the food in Cuba but we found the food very good good here and I'm a very picky eater. The beach is beautiful and lounge chairs for everyone. There are lots of beautiful pools with swim up bars and great activities .the staff at Grand memories are some of the nicest people I have ever met especially Chino and Pedro from the entertainment team. Grand Memories - Great Time!

First off I want to say I LOVE CUBA! It is an easy trip, guaranteed good weather, great people and total relaxation. We traveled as a family of 6: 2 Girls - ages 20 Son & Girlfriend - ages 22 & 20 My husband and I - ages 49 This is our 2nd time at Grand Memories and it has gotten even better. than the last time. Our check in was easy, they had all the rooms and bracelets ready for us - took us to our rooms in a nice golf cart - and the room was nicely air conditioned and had everything  [... read more]we needed. (this was a middle of the night arrival) Our room was made up every day before noon with cool towel art and nice notes. Hit the beautiful beach the next morning - no problem finding a lounge chair with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Beach was busy but not annoyingly busy. Pools - there are 2 HUGE pools to choose from - the activity pool has a few "sections" and something for everyone. Including a swim up bar, lots of activities and fun games with the AWESOME Entertainment Team (Chino & Pedro - were THE BEST...great guys, polite and very good at their job.) The quiet pool is near buildings 10 & 11 - has a cool waterfall, and neat rocks as well as a swim up bar - nice and quiet. Buffet - the buffet was WAY better than i remember. We usually sat in Jesus' section - as he was TOP NOTCH - he is EXCELLENT at his job and even though he is busy, he takes the time to chat with you about your day. There are always lots of options for picky eaters - and we for sure did not starve! Resort - this resort is quite large, there is a lot of walking (get those steps in!) But it is kept very clean, and well maintained. The gardeners always had a nice "Ola" every morning for us as we wander by. Animals - there are stray cats & dogs on most of the resorts in cuba that we have been too, if you are an animal lover throw some pet food in your luggage and leave for them - they are not treated very well. The "disco" for the kids was so much fun - and there is a party bus every Wednesday that takes the young adults to another resort to party - they loved it! The Cubano bar is AWESOME - they have live music most nights and is just great to sit back and listen after a hard day at the beach! The Cuban people are wonderful kind people and work very hard at their jobs.
