Amazing resorte

This hotel was very clean, always people cleaning! The beaches were great! Food excellent and staff very friendly and always willing to go the extra mile in service! I have been to a five star resort and this resort was a six! Of course the weather cooperated! My son got married here and the wedding coordinator was supreme!

Beautiful Resort

This was our fourth trip to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico and it was our favourite. The beach is beautiful and uncrowded, the rooms were gorgeous and the food was always good. The lobby bar is a great central meeting place. The snorkelling was fantastic.

Solid 4 Stars Resort

Honest solid 4 Stars resort - much greater than some acclaimed 4.5/5 star resorts It is evidently an amazing hotel and in a great location. All rooms have an ocean view. The beach is one of the best Mexico has to offer with various sealife in it's ocean like turtles, rays and fishes. We traveled over the holidays and the Christmas eve dinner was definitely outstanding. Special thanks to the Management for the disciplined and helpful staff.

Very nice Resort

Staff works hard ,very nice grounds and well kept . Need a few lounges around the main pool area , Not everyone likes the sun beds , Good variety of food choices at the buffet. Asian eatery was our favorite. Rooms were very nice and clean. Take insect spray as bugs were hungry .

Great resort

Buildings staff and food great. Sweet drinks disappointing. Tasted like they were all sweetened by sweetener. Noise above below and beside our room annoying and frequent. Sounded like furniture moving and heavy walking feet. Wished their was more pool and beach sports. Pool water very cool

Great resort, very relaxing

This was our first time in Akumal, and you never know if the place you choose will be as good as it looks. Well, this place was wonderful! We first were "gifted" with a penthouse suite when we checked in - which was fabulous! The quiet, relaxing atmosphere was just what was needed - and the service was super! Especially Noemi, Marbella and Clemente, who gave excellent service on our end of the beach! Thank you!! Outstanding!!

We were at Akumal in October for a friends wedding ,and it was simply amazing . We watched baby turtles hatching every morning and night, there were staff there constantly watching to ensure they made it safely to the surf. The beach was clean and groomed daily, there were plenty of fish to see while snorkeling . Totally amazing resort

This was our second stay a the ABBWR. First went in May 2017. After staying for 1 week we realized how much of an amazing place this is and within three weeks of our return we had booked our second trip for two weeks. All rooms have an incredible beach view and and everything from the dining hall to the pools and al la carte restaurants are easily accessible. Snorkeling in the bay is absolutely amazing. Every one goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is magical. We would recommend this resort to everyone. It really is Amazing.

It's like "coming home"

I have been to this resort more than a dozen times over the past 7 years. It's like coming home to me. The staff make the resort wonderful and the food is amazing. Try the room service menu, it's wonderful!! They seem to be attracting a lot more European guests over the past couple of years, and have removed the 'no topless' signs (at least I couldn't find them). I don't understand this - catering to Europeans with regards to this, because in Mexican culture, being topless is frowned  [... read more]upon. My only 3 suggestions are: foot baths by all the smaller pools to dip your feet in to get the sand off so you are not tracking it into your room, and most importantly a card, or brochure that is clearly marked regarding Reef etiquette. NO standing on the coral, and NO feeding the fish, etc. We saw at least a dozen people feeding the fish and I have a very strong opposition to this - as does any experienced snorkeler or diver. This just makes the fish aggressive, and ABR doesn't seem to be doing much to educate their guests. They do have a pamphlet, not titled with anything other than their logo, which is placed with all the other books on the credenza. I would guess that 90% of their guests never read these. Disappointing. Thirdly, start reinforcing the 'no towels' on the loungers, like you have signs on every palapa stating it. People are all but running to grab beach lounge chairs, at 6:15am, and by 7am, most of them are taken. We go down and get them, but we actually start our day at that time - on the beach, and we stay there throughout the day.... Aside from these observations, I still love the resort and the staff who are always so welcoming

Akumal Bay Beach wellness and spa

Amazing resort-2nd time around. great for snorkeling and diving. Far from airport, but worth it when you arrive. Lots of local restaurants to walk to. If you want to relax and enjoy the ocean this is the place for you. Not a partying place more so serenity.

Love this resort!

Great dining options, food was always delicious and fresh with lots of healthy options and offered Mexican cuisine at all buffets. The rooms are wonderful! Loved the jacuzzi on the balcony. Awesome views of the ocean. Well maintained grounds, beautiful beach. Good drinks, clean pool. Would love to return someday!

Best resort experience we have ever enjoyed

Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort was the perfect resort for our wedding and the 70 guests we had join us. We prefer smaller resorts and at 310 rooms, with all rooms ocean-facing, this was perfect. You could walk from any room to the water's edge in less than 2 minutes! The staff were amazing - especially Wilbert at the main bar, Liliana at the sushi bar, Marta and Patricia at the spa. Special recognition is needed for on-site photographer Conrado who captured the beauty of the surroundings [... read more] and our wedding celebration beautifully. The food was great, the bar service top notch, and the rooms were beautifully maintained and clean. Being able to walk into the water right in front of your resort and see sea turtles, sting rays and a variety of marine fish and coral was awesome. We will definitely be returning soon.

Exellant stay at Akumal Bay

the Hotel was beautifull, clean, with very friendly and professional staff. the food was the best we ever had at an all inclusive. the beach was kept nice and clean and the turtle hatching experience was a bonus. the view and the proximity to the water from our room was very good. the only complaint might be the quality of the bar mix. mostly powdered fruit mixes. we would rate the resort an 8 out of 10.

Beautiful resort good beach

This resort has a lot going for it. The buildings and grounds are immaculately kept. Wherever your room is, it's a very short walk to the beach. Food was good and staff were eager to please. It's also a sea turtle reserve. The aquatic life was amazing, We swam with turtles and rays , youcould walk into the water and feed the angel fish,they would eat bread from your hand , hundreds at a time. This was our first time in Mexico and felt totally safe .We will be back to this resort.

My review

The resort was amazing with very friendly staff. I enjoyed my time there. The only change that I feel needs to be done is the drinks ! Not very good at all watered down alcohol and mixed drinks were very poor tasting almost like diet. I had to buy mix off resort to enjoy !

Paradise Found

Our travels took us to Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort for a wedding. We did not know that it was a haven. The staff was excellent and very accommodating. This is a rather quiet resort, except for our group, which I am sure kept everyone else up into the early hours. However, we were all humbled by the conservation efforts of all staff, volunteers and including guests, who witnessed the birth of the Green Turtle babies and watching them on their journey to the ocean. Great Resort!

Awesome place. All the rooms face the ocean and even the furthest rooms are only 50m from the ocean. Great food and nice snorkeling. Saw sea turtles, squid, stingrays and parrot fish all just 20m off the shore. They even upgraded us to the penthouse suite when they found out we were on our honeymoon. Would definitely go again!

Pleasantly peaceful

This hotel was wonderfully remote. I felt like everyone was close with each other. Whether it was the staff members getting along with each other or with other guests, it seemed really close. The rooms were well stocked and simple. Everything was close by (i.e pool, beach, food). Speaking of food, it was delicious. The buffet was always hot and ready, and the restaurants were beautiful. We had an amazing time!

Amazing Vacation

Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort surpassed all our expectations. The service was top notch. The food delicious and fresh. The rooms were clean and quiet. The bed comfortable. Snorkeling right from shore was amazing. Saw lots of turtles and an aquarium of fish. I can't wait to return.

Overall great vacation!

We visited this resort at the end of April for 1 week with our two sons age 9 and 12, the resort was sold out for the week. Great hotel for couples or family. All rooms face the ocean and all have jet tub on the deck/terrace. It has 24 hour room service and all restaurants have a no reservation policy. Service was outstanding, probably the best I ever experienced. Beach and snorkeling where great! Lots of chairs at the beach and pools. I was a little disappointed with the food, it wasn't bad but [... read more] I expected more... probably because of the great reviews I had read. I usually like the no reservation rule, but here the wait was really long. I felt they almost forced you to go to the buffet at night, there is 3 a la carte restaurant, the Japanese and Mexican only had 40 seats each..... Activities or entertainment where almost non existent. The entertainment staff where dull and not very engaging.... Overall great resort and we had fun, but for the price I think we could of done better.....
