Clean and elegant!

The resort is a good size..not to big or small. Although there may a bit of mobility issues getting to and from the bigger beach (uneven stairs) The food was decent for Cuba, could always find something to eat!! You are at the staff's disposal, they try their best to do everything you absolutely need. We didnt get coffee in our room until day 5 tho..which was upsetting but they do have a coffee bar open at 7am The nightlife was so so. The shows started very late. Very nice people but very slow at bartending There are 2 beaches..a small one which is shared with resort next door and a fairly large one which is also shared. Can get very busy because you cant use chairs past the roped off for other resort. If you're lucky enough to find a spot both beaches are absolutely gorgeous!!! We spoke to quite a few ppl who are return customers year after year.

My absolute favourite resort!!

This was my second time at this resort and I will definitely be back again and again! The grounds are absolutely beautiful and so well kept! The beaches are beautiful and so clean! The food is always delicious and I will honestly miss the pizza so much! Haha! The rooms are comfortable and kept very clean! But the best part of this resort are the people! They always had me and my friends laughing and having a good time! Felix, Carlos, Guss, Giselle and the entire entertainment staff kept us dancing and having the time of our lives! They are amazing at what they do and I cannot wait to come back to continue with all the fun! I love it here and I honestly can’t say enough good things about it! I will definitely be back before the year is over!

AMAZING ATMOSPHERE

5 STAR RESORT THAT IS REALLY 5 STARS. FOOD FIVE STARS SERVICE FIVE STARS ROOMS FIVE STARS DRINKS FIVE STARS POOL / BEACH FIVE STARS. Amazing Resort/ Best Time Ever

First off, my friends and I have been to Cuba at least twice a year. This was hands down the best resort we have ever stayed at in Cuba - and we’ve been to MANY. Privilege section was more than worth the money! We had an incredible room with a view of the privledge pool and ocean. We never encountered a single employee who was anything but helpful and truly pleasant to deal with. the Sunsets at the infinity pool were out of this world! Absolutely must take the time to see them. Food overall was the best we’ve ever had in Cuba — lobster, shrimp, chicken, all great! The only thing worth mentioning was that the beach was a little small and there were not enough umbrellas to accommodate everyone.

Very good resort

I loved the hotel and the pools. Food was ok. Customer service at lobby was very poor.Rooms are renovated and very clean, the only issue was the bed cover and cushions, they were dirty. Entertainment was very good. Music at the main pool was very loud.Ladies! Please take hair conditioner with you the hotel does not provide it.

Great vacation!

Overall site was in very good condition. The grounds were well maintained and beautifully manicured (special thanks to the gardeners and grounds keepers). Staff was incredibly friendly with special thanks to the Beach Bar Staff and activities group (beach and pool). Food was average, there was always variety/choice to satisfy even though improvements in quality over other destinations (outside of Cuba) are recommended. New Year’s Party was excellent, plenty of everything. Great Value!

Cuba For NYE

Wonderful trip for 12 to Ocean Vista Azul, Varadero, for fun in the sun with family and friends, old and new. Great hotel (loved the beautiful ocean view suite), great flight from Hamilton International and great support from Linda at TripCentral. Grateful to all and for the great weather.

Catlinggrand

We were travelling with our son and his family over Christmas. We asked to switch rooms because their disco entertainment at night is outside and it happened to be right beside our bank of rooms. If you don’t mind being up until 2 am I suggest not staying pool side.

Beautiful Views

Infinity pool was awesome, beaches were sandy and warm. Staff was great and Mikes coffee bar was amazing. We travelled at Christmas time, so Christmas Eve was a big deal in Cuba. Resort is close enough to grab a cab into Varadero.

Great resort, beautiful beach, good pool

Room: We stayed in a deluxe room which had a large king bed, fridge, table and two chairs and a small sofa. Plenty of space for storage etc. 1 large bottle of water and 2 pops were provided each day. There's a coffee maker but only with tea bags. The walk in shower was very nice although hot water wasn't always available. Toilet area also fine. We found the rooms a little damp but it had been raining for a few days when we arrived which may be why. Our pool view room also had a (distant) ocean  [... read more]view from the balcony. Eating: buffet has a good selection (not amazing for vegetarians but you'd manage) and food quality was ok. Italian restaurant on site very good but small portions and long wait. We didn't try the other 2 restaurants, menu didn't seem too different from what you could get at the buffet. Sports bar was our favourite for billiards and drinks, best coffee is at the lobby. You can get hot dogs and sometimes pizza between meals. There's also a bar near the beach and one by the pool as well as a coffee house. Plenty of good drinks available. Entertainment most nights eg magic show, singing etc were pretty good. Beach: on site and beautiful. Sand is perfect, water is pristine. Plenty of beach chairs for all, some in shade. Pool: a huge figure of 8 shape, hard to describe but it's cleverly designed. There's an infinity pool by the lobby with a gorgeous view to the ocean. Service: staff were courteous and helpful. Overall: our first stay in Cuba so I can't compare to other Varadero resorts, but we (family of 4 with teens) enjoyed our stay and would consider going back to this hotel. Best part was the beach, least favourite part was food quality.

Great beaches and wonderful people

The Ocean Vista Azul is a beautiful all-inclusive Cuban 5-star resort. The beaches are magnificent (some of the best we've seen) with good animation and services. We were there in early December which is a good time to visit (not too busy and very nice weather). The resort itself is clean but needs better maintenance as some things require more regular attention. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were comfortable and well maintained although sparsely stocked (towels, soap, [... read more] etc.). The basics are there and replenished daily, sometimes a reminder is necessary (tipping assures good service). There was a good variety of food at the resort, particularly at the buffet restaurant. The "a la carte" restaurants were disappointing. We did not opt for the Privilege status and didn't find it made our stay any less satisfying. The nightly shows were standard resort fare (nothing extravagant). The local musicians who played throughout the resort were very good and entertaining. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Great Value

They are working hard to bring this hotel from a 4 star up the ladder and it shows. The staff was warm, friendly and very accommodating. The food, although not gourmet, was pretty good and a few of the lunches were stellar....trays and trays of lobster tails, cleaned and cooked to perfection. The grounds and common areas were always clean and tidy and our rooms, including the bathroom was sparkling every day. Amazing resort!!

The hotel is very big, and has lots of viewing space, for example lots of room for walking and many pools and bungalows. The service at the hotel and at the beach is amazing!! The food is very delicious! All staff members are nice and friendly! The entertainment everyday is very enjoyable. Overall, a great hotel to choose when visiting cuba!!

OK resort

pros: - the rooms were clean and everything worked well. maid service was very good. - the grounds were beautiful and well maintained. - the check in and check out process was very good. cons: - the food was not very good and in some cases was not cooked properly(raw). - the mini bar did not get restocked all week. - the pool/beach service was erratic. in fact we didn't know there was service until day 3 and then it was gone again. - No decent coffee at the resort at all. - I have no  [... read more]idea what the activity people do except for a song and dance routine at 4pm every day.

Okay but could be Better

This hotel and resort is okay but could be better. The significant downgrade is because of the food and coffee. I know Cuba is suffering and the poor food in Varedera is always a factor, but we constantly had to check our meat to make sure it was cooked (often it wasn't) and everyone visually inspecting their plates to see if they were clean with no food particles left from washing was the norm. The lack of sanitary conditions is a conscious decision made by the resort and the workers. The r [... read more]esort is quite pretty and well laid out. Service in the a la carts was good and the room cleaning staff were excellent. Beach is nice. The entertainment staff was non-existent during the day and seemed to magically appear at 3:30 to do a finishing dance. Second time to Varedera and probably won't ever to back....Cayo Coco and Holguin are much better.

Stay at Cuba

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. There was some cleanliness/food guidelines that were not adhered to and we had bathroom troubles from day 3 to 4 days post vacation. The beach is right beside the neighboring resorts beach and we could never find the "other beach" where the extra activities were located (we didn't look too hard so this may be our fault). Everyone was nice to us at the resort and were helpful when we needed something.

Not what expected

I have been to an ocean resort in Santa Maria, so i thought I would try this one. Beach was beautiful and infinity pool great. Rooms were nice but not cleaned properly. The food at this resort was disgusting. The disco was at a buffet at night. Lobby bar closes early. Very disappointing resort.

This resort needs improvement

It’s a beautiful resort and very modern. But I really hated the service. A lot of the women that works at the receptionist were very rude . I had issue with my key card for the door 4 times , I had to go to receptionist and she was very rude and she was annoyed that I kept coming back. Some of the bartenders are not very friendly at all . The lobby bar closes at 12 am, nothing to do after... people still wanna hangout in the lobby. We waited 45 mins for a la cart . The Italian restaurant is shit. The lasagna was hard and the pizza does not that look like pizza And taste shit. ...I do like the Caribbean restaurant ..... I had to kill a cockroach at the buffet and seen one at pool . The food presentation of the buffet is not very appealing. This is only 4 yrs old and I’ve seen some stuff that are not maintained. Our toilet didn’t flush properly, we had to flush 2 or 3 times I order to work The only good thing about this resort is the infinity pool . I’ve been to Cuba 🇨🇺 10 times and this resort service and food has to be on the bottom list . I’m sorry but I’m being honest . My bad experience for the first time in varadero. I still love Cuba but not this resort service. . I will come back to Santa Maria . Maybe there is better resort in varadero . I heard Bella costa is good. I heard people talked about the bad food at the buffet ... and I got sick had a cold ... pink eye and ear infection, my friend had stomach flu bad diarrhea . Like I said I like the resort because it’s modern love the beach and the entertainment shows was were very good . We love our room . I will not comeback unless they start making changes to their food and service . I normally a understanding person and always defended Cuba as their bad reputation for the food but to actually experience it. You can’t blame people , we spend so much money on this trip , we just want decent food and decent service

A good resort

The hotel is nice, the grounds are beautiful , clean and well maintained., the view was wonderful . The room was nice and our maid exceptional but for a five star hotel I expected to have a small shampoo, conditioner, hand soap in the bathroom, none of that was available. Towels were also missing from the bathroom when we arrived, we had to wait for someone to bring us some so we could take a shower. The public washer rooms were always out of toilet paper, which is totally unacceptable.The fo [... read more]od is another area where this resort was lucking,. Great resort

The resort was great. A little larger than we liked but they had great staff and great drinks. The beaches were a bit further away but beautiful. Travel there was not good. No one from our group sat together . And red eye is never fun. Food was okay but Cuba is known for having mild food.
