Amazing resort!!!!

Our first time at this resort will definitely not be our last! The junior suites we stayed in were very spacious and clean. The pool view rooms we had had awesome views. The pool area has WiFi so we could access WiFi from the comfort of our balconies(as opposed to a crowded lobby elsewhere). The staff was very friendly, our butler Militza was amazing-answered any questions we had and was quick to resolve any issues we had. The restaurant staff greeted us every morning/evening like family. The fo [... read more]od was some of the best I’ve had in Cuba! The pool/pool area was always clean, and the entertainment staff did a super job everyday-my family really enjoyed the water aerobics! I can’t wait to go back to this resort.

Beautiful resort

From the moment we stepped onto the property, everything we saw was just beautiful! The rooms, pool, grounds, dining area, beach. Everything! The staff were the ones that really made our stay. They were friendly, polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. We had an amazing time.

Great Resort

The Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero was wonderful. Worth the extra money to stay at this adults only section. Well taken care of by staff, service was great and food was good. Grounds were beautiful and well maintained, pool was clean and beach was awesome. Beach towel service was convenient. Great bar service and drinks. Room was a little tired and needed some TLC (patio door old and didn't latch, shower didn't drain properly, toilet ran but was fixed promptly on request). Was happy with r [... read more]oom cleaning and AC was reliable. This was my first trip to Cuba and Veradero did not dissappoint. Never seen a better beach. Was there last week of February and sunny everyday and not a drop of rain! Great value for the money.

FANTASTIC RESORT

Where they treat you like Royalty and Family. This was my 5th time returning to Sanctuary. The service is always awesome. one tiny glitch. but for the most part just as amazing as the first time my husband and I went.

Great vacation

The resort was nice, very clean, and well laid out. The rooms were a little dated. The beds were two twin beds pushed together to make a king. They should invest in getting a king bed. The service was excellent. Our room overlooked the pool and we were a short distance from the beach. We had our own section on the beach which was quiet.

2nd time didn't disappoint

This was our second year in a row at this hotel and we loved it just as much. We actually required medical attention this time and were very pleased with the service we received and the attention they gave us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to travel in the Varadero area! This is the 7th hotel I have been to in Cuba and is by far my favourite one.

Good Resort

We arrived late at night so we didn't have as memorable of a greeting as some of the other reviews. By the time we had met our Butler we had our dinner reservations made and we didn't really require any other assistance during our stay. We LOVED the Lounge Bar that has some great entertainment every night. ANET and YOAN were attentive and fantastic. Restaurants - we ate all our breakfasts at Ave Del Paraiso (sit down and buffet option in the Adults only section) and it was great. Ging Seng was our favourite dinner restaurant. Don't waste your time at La Violeta. Terrible food and poor service. The beach was wonderful, staff was friendly, and the entertainment was good. We may return to this resort.

Had a Blast!

Really glad we stayed in the adults only section, it was so much fun and mellow. The staff were great super friendly and fun, the resort was very clean and well kept. we enjoyed the food and dining on the sanctuary side and didn't feel like we needed to go over to the main resort.

Great vacation

This was our third vacation at this resort and it was great. As usual the staff was excellent, always smiling and their willingness to help is exceptional. The resort is well maintained and nice. The beaches are beautiful, the weather great as always and beats this rough winter we are having. The food has never been a problem for us in Cuba, the food is good, it is different from what we are used to eating, but that is expected and welcomed. Diversity is what makes travelling exciting t [... read more]o a different country. We even noticed this time at this resort that the food was better and more options available than the last time. The difference we noticed this time is that the Sanctuary part of Grand Memories, seems to have lost a little of its exclusivity, the reason we went back a third time. Not a deal breaker but something we will keep in mind for future booking. Overall a great vacation.

Nice resort in Cuba

Nicely landscaped grounds and pool. The beach is absolutely breathtaking and has a quick drop off for swimming. The lounge chairs need replacing and you can only have one towel at a time, so I’d recommend bring a light chair pad and a towel.

Nous avons séjourné au Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero au mois de janvier 2019. Pour cet hôtel, réservés aux adultes seulement, nous n’avons pas de commentaire négatif. Nous avons été à Cuba 10 fois, séjournés dans des hôtels différents, et celui-ci était certainement l'un de nos favoris. Excellent service ! Nous avons fréquenté le Restaurant Ave del Paraiso pour la plupart du temps. Nous avons été très impressionnés de rencontrer Karl, le gérant de ce restaurant qui était là tous les jours, travaillant de très longues heures pour s'assurer que tout était parfait pour les clients. Bravo pour son dévouement et son équipe (Yessica, entre autres)!! L’équipe de barmans au Lounge Bar, ouvert 24 h/24, avec Jesus et Yuniel étaient super, ainsi que divertissement et de la musique live tous les soirs qui était fantastique. La soirée «Nuit Romantique» par Oswaldo Consuegra Suri et Ariel Mestre Silva était particulièrement bonne. Une expérience au restaurant La Orquidea (Gourmet à la carte) situé au Grand Memories Varadero était également positive avec une service très professionnelle et bonne de Roberto. Nous étions aussi très bien accueillis à plusieurs reprises au Mariposa (Lobby Bar) situé au Grand Memories Varadero par un joli couple Liliana Guerra et Eliecer Companioni. Ils nous ont toujours données des informations dont nous avions besoin, ils font tout pour que vous soyez les bienvenus. Alors, pour terminer le commentaire sur notre séjour à cet hôtel, il est important de mentionner que tout le personnel et l'équipe d'animation de Sanctuary at Grand Memories étaient géniaux. En ajoutant les belles plages, la nourriture avec beaucoup de choix et beaucoup d’imaginations de la création de chaque assiette d’un chef de cuisine (Italien) et un excellent gérant du restaurant (Allemagne), un personnel si dévoué et amical, vous n’avez que d’avoir un séjour spécial et parfait. On y retourne.

Amazing resort!

The Sanctuary is beautiful. The food was very good, particularly the restaurant in the Sanctuary. The beach was pristine. The staff were gracious and lovely. Overall, a wonderful vacation. We would definitely go back.

Great resort!

We had a fabulous time at this resort. Room, grounds, restaurants and public areas were very clean and well maintained. Food was excellent on the Sanctuary side, both in the restaurant and pool side. Also enjoyed the beach grill for lunch. Staff were excellent and friendly. Shout out to Natalie in the beach bar and Roxanna at the pool bar. Our butlers were great and helped coordinate a surprise poolside lobster dinner one evening. We will be back!

Nice resort

Well run resort. The resort is under Canadian management, it seems that the Canadian management has a mission of improving the Cuban standard. Karl with solid international experience is brought in oversea to run the Sanctuary restaurant. He is dedicated and seems to have a impact on the staff.

We Will Be Back

This was our first trip to Cuba. That being said, we had heard from many other people that the food in Cuba was very bland. This could not be further from the truth. The food at this resort was excellent! Our room was a suite, and was very spacious and clean. Some of the furniture was starting to show its age, but by Cuba standards, it was excellent. The resort grounds are very well kept, and have beautiful flowers and palms throughout the resort. Make sure you bring comfortable foot ware, as the resort is very large, but if you don’t feel like walking, stop by the Sanctuary lobby and hop on one of the carts, which are only for the Sanctuary guests, and they will take you wherever need to go in the resort. My wife and I are already really looking forward to going back next year!

Excactly what we needed

The Sanctuary has a lot of nice features. The rooms are just the right size, with balcony. Good bathroom, shower etc. Comfortable beds. Enough storage space. The on site restaurant offer good quality food, a bit repetitive but good. You always have the buffet, about 10 min walk is needed.... The grounds are very nice. Nice good level music... The beach has plenty of shade and chair, and they don't really let anybody in, other then the sanctuary guess, (Very Nice beach) . I really hate the  [... read more]dancing shows at night, but at the sanctuary they have nice music bands. Perfect for over 50 couples.... Impeccable service other then when you are leaving. They don't really care about you, your plane, your luggages, your tips, your time , your waiting for assistance when ready for departure. Over all, exactly what we needed except for the departure stress.

So here’s an honest review of Sanctuary Resort at Grand Memories. Sanctuary is the adult side. Amazing food. Room was large and clean. Clean Shower and tub. Bathroom walls need a good clean. Amazing customer service with two exceptions. The woman at front desk was very unfriendly and didn’t like to help. Saw our butler the first and last day only. That’s ok because we really didn’t need him. However I’m commenting about it because he said he’d been looking for us all week. We never l [... read more]eft pool or beach. Beach was amazing. Can’t say enough great things about food. Natali at beach bar is outstanding. Our group had such a great time and have no issues recommending Sanctuary. The family side is quite busy. Not for us but I’m sure is great. We needed to shower in SPA on our last day and it was really dirty unfortunately. Wouldn’t make us not return. Flights were great. Attendants on flight to Cuba were horribly rude. The flight home, the attendants were incredible!!

People make this a 5 Star

Check in was a breeze and we were up graded to a suite from a junior suite, it was my husband and mine birthdays and we were also brought wine and cake. Both butlers, Abel and Josie were attentive but not overwhelming. They couldn't do enough for you. Beaches are well taken care of and the gentle taking care of the chairs always tried to accommodate everyone. They even brought drinks. Sanctuary beach bar always made sure everyone was looked after on a first come first serve basis. The people in  [... read more]the pool bar also worked very hard and would deliver your order of food to your seat. Our wonderful housekeeper, Yanelis could not do enough for us, leaving extra water when requested and of course leaving beautiful towel art each day. Hot water wasn't always available which was negative especially after being at the beach all day. Food I would assume is not served hot here as after request of being hot food was still just warm, no biggie. Girls in the restaurants were very kind and also worked hard. Not all things on the menu were in stock, but you should be able to work around this. The Sanctuary lobby bar was great to go for a drink after dinner, serving top brands and made a terrific coffee in the morning. I would recommend staying on the Sanctuary side as the Grand Memories side is very busy. This would be a wonderful resort if you are looking to be spoiled. Well done Sanctuary, we will return.
