Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Not great

Front desk staff were rude and unwilling to help with basic requests, resort staff made us constantly feel they were greasing us for tips, and were often rude as-well. Cleaning lady cleaned out room 2 times in 7 days, and would knock on our door asking to clean in the evenings when we wanted privacy. We all got food poisoning. Our mattress was upside down and had springs digging into our backs - sleep was difficult, if we weren’t awake vomiting. Not fun. The air Canada representative at the reso [... read more]rt refused to give us our return bus timing, so we had to pay for a taxi. This was my first resort experience, I won’t be doing it again.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Great family vacation

Traveled from the Dec 11th to the 18th. Airport arrival was terrible (2.5hr luggage wait) but clearly not the resorts fault. (Just a frustrating start) Traveling as a family of four. Wife, myself and 8yo / 6yo. We had family concierge swim out suite (room 2009) great location close to most things. Resort is easy to figure out and we were quickly navigating easily. All the dinners were great, we only ate at the buffet twice and found it small and not very good so we stuck with the other sit down breakfast/lunch options which were excellent. We never ran out of things to do. Only off site stuff we did was a walk into town for some sunglasses and the “free” trip to the ziplone/cliff jump that was included with the concierge package. Some things I wish I knew before hand. Set up WhatsApp before leaving. I tried to set this up while there on airplane mode but I needed cell service to activate WhatsApp. Without WhatsApp communication with your concierge is tough. We hadn’t gone south in 6 years. We plan to go again next year to likely the same resort and hopefully have Jessica as our concierge again.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: A few misses

Overall this is a great resort with amazing food and service. A few misses for us comparing to equivalent 5* Adults only resorts: 1) Upon check in, after a 12 hour travel day, they kept trying to up sell us to the Reserve. We just wanted to check in and grab dinner. 2) You have to go down and make dinner reservations every 2-3 days as you can only reserve for the next 2 nights. The times they had available for the good restaurants were 9:00pm or 10:00pm. So we ended up at a couple of restaura [... read more]nts twice just so we could eat before 7:00pm. We have never had to do this at a 4* or 5* resort. 3) The pool water is very cold and the music at the main pool is loud all day so hard to hold a conversation with anyone. 4) The infamous chair game - people place towels early in the morning and then don’t show up all day. 5) They have palapas around the pool, a few in the back are free but people grab them and chairs first thing in the morning. There are quite a few others around the pool that they want you to reserve and pay for. This made no sense to us as they all sat empty our entire stay. Just let people use them and stop nickel and dime-ing everyone. 6) Coronas and Gatorade are $6 USD and you have to pay for Red Bull too

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Good family resort

Buildings and grounds well maintained, clean, modern. Pool was amazing - huge, spacious, lots of different areas for young kids and adults. Hotel room had several issues during the week. Food was mediocre, but expected for Punta Cana. A la cartes were full and no availability during our entire trip, so book early if you can.

Paradisus Cancun: Very nice resort, but has issues.

The hotel was very clean, employees were excellent, food was good, rooms were large. They have a coffee bar open on first floor open 24 hours with different types of coffee and flavors. I loved that feature. However, we had to rush down in the morning to place a towel or personal item on a chair to ensure a spot to sit at the pool or on the beach. I HATE having to do that. It is very uncomfortable to have to sit at the same angle all day.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: It was just ok

I have spent my vacation at better resorts for less money. Overall I would give it a slightly less than satisfactory rating. What was not so great? Worth mentioning is we stayed on the adult side Garden view suite so can only speak to this portion of the hotel. The beach - lacked loungers and appropriate shading. A few cabanas were available at an extra cost and had to be reserved. The family area appeared to have much more of both. The pool - not enough loungers to accommodate guest [... read more]s. They were heavy, wooden, non adjustable and very difficult to move. There are also cabanas (way too many, that sat empty) at an extra cost. The water was very cold and not well used as a result. The Suite- advertised hot tub on balcony was in fact a jacuzzi bath tub with no running hot water. The pull out couch was dirty and very uncomfortable to sit in. The kitchen area had no plates, bowl glasses or utensils. The toilet made a hammering sound throughout the night, the water pressure cut out to nil on three occasions leaving us with no water to shower. Restaurants - Did not get a hot meal in the time we were there. Of the 10 restaurants we ate at all but two (Japanese and Seafood) had atmosphere. The rest felt like cafeteria style dining without the buffet. Scantly furnished, loud, and not very organized. The steak restaurant was well over priced with little to rave about. Steak was good if not slightly overcooked to order but the sides were all cold even after having them returned. What was good? The staff - excessively friendly, hard working and very helpful although we did have an incident with the front desk when asking for assistance with clothing that fallen off our balcony that we could not retrieve due to the swim out rooms below us. We had to take matters in our own hands after waiting with no resolve for over 24 hours for security to handle it. Location - Just a 20 minute walk down the beach to Playa del Carmen and 5th ave when there were a lot of vendors and restaurant to spend your afternoon among. South Bar - The go to bar for a before or after dinner drink. It seemed to be the most popular place to be.

The grounds are pristine, the food and the service great! There are plenty of activities for everyone, the entertaintment varied each night, we really enjoyed a relaxing week in a luxury hotel, real 5 stars. Love it.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: 11 Person Family Trip

Beautiful property with several ponds, stocked with koi and turtles. Peacocks and other interesting birds on site. Large pool, well-maintained. Amazing splash pad for the kids. Service was bad. 6 hours to check in. 90% of staff were ambivalent. Tables were constantly dirty, cluttered, had to beg for the floors to be swept, had to use paper cups for hot drinks in the dining room. Ran out of plates. Bowls, spoons. No orange juice left after 8:30 am. We had a six hour wait for baby crib. Showed f [... read more]or reservation for dinner with four adults and 2 infants(1 in stroller, 1 needs high chair), made us wait 45 mins because we reserved for 4. Out of towels at pool. Beds not always made, no towels, cloths in room twice, no batteries in remote(asked twice, waited all week-never came), spent $700 on tips, couldn’t get anyone to care about anything. Beautiful place but needs massive overhaul to service. Beach was lovely, but dirty. Water was cloudy all week. They did 2 tractor passes per day for algae, but garbage was in the sand everywhere and many lounge chairs were damaged. BEWARE: hotel has something called, ‘Level’, which gives guests private dining, adult pools, preferred check-in, private beach, private off-limits grounds. We missed it in the fine print and regretted it.

Melia Orlando Hotel at Celebration: The hotel is amazing.

This hotel is a perfect place for vacation. My son loves the pool. We enjoyed our 5 nights stay with my friends . The receptionist was pleasant. I would like to thanks Shannon who helped us booked our tickets. She did a great job.

We had an absolutely amazing time at the Meliá. We would definitely go back. The staff was amazing, the restaurant food was delish (the chefs were first class) and the grounds were beautiful. Can’t wait to visit again!

Melia Sitges: Beautiful seaside town

My husband and I stayed for a week at the Melia Sitges hotel. It is in a great location in relation to the town and beaches. It is a 15 minute walk to the downtown shops and restaurant area with its narrow, winding cobblestone streets by the sea. The hotel was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The balcony was lovely to sit out on overlooking the pool and sea. The room had everything we could need, tea, coffee, water, a minibar fridge. The pool area was immaculate and we never had  [... read more]an issue getting bedside chairs. The staff put out extra seating on the weekend. The breakfast buffet was fabulous with a large variety of food. Staff at the front desk were always very helpful and extremely polite.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: A beautiful experience!

I truly recommend this beautiful resort. Everything was perfect. The food, the service, the rooms, the resort, all awesome and worthy of ever penny. Special thank you to Victor at the beach for all his help. Also, thank you to Danira for her kindness while serving us at the La Perla welcome reception coffee station. Paridusus is truly Paradise!!

We cannot recommend this resort enough! The attention to detail at Paradisus La Perla is truly phenomenal. We stayed for 7 nights at the Reserve, and spending the extra for the Reserve was very worth it. Eduardo was our personal concierge, and he made sure we were looked after every single day - he booked our restaurants, and excursions for us. He organized a surprise for our anniversary, and birthday, from cake to decorations in the room, with the bath drawn with rose petals. Angelo at the Fahrenheit Pool, reserved a cabana for us every day and we had poolside food & drink bought directly to us, he's the loveliest person. The two entertainment guys made the pool and nightlife a lot of fun and inclusive for everyone! Mathieu at South Bar was incredible, best cocktails and so friendly. All the servers at each restaurant were outstanding (especially at Sante, the Reserve restaurant). The food was so good, we went to a different restaurant every night, and the buffet had a different theme nightly! Our room was spectacular, we had a gardenview suite, which included a tub on the balcony and in the room, king size bed, full kitchen & living room, and the AC was an amazing relief! Everywhere we want we were greeted by friendly faces. The resort itself is stunning, the architecture, the plants, the walkways, the beaches, the shows, the level of service - truly a 12/10. Also this resort is within a 20 minute walk along the beach to Playa del carmen, which was perfect for day trips and some nights out! We will be back again! Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Horrible

Well first of all the room we had on the 2nd floor flooded the first 2 nights we were there and all our clothing and suitcases got soaked, staff didn’t seem to care, the patio door didn’t close 100% reason for the flood and the mosquitoes in our room, another night we got back to our room with no towels, we called thankfully they delivered fast. Zel Punta Cana - All Suites: Resort was not bad

In general stuff was nice and kind but for our last 4 days we had issues with room cleaning service they didn’t come to do clean up our room even we requested 3 times after the second day of that they didn’t clean they come some excuse with shortage of stuff and the last night we found cockroaches in our room after we reported nobody involved with I d like to speak with the manager the didn’t even called me. Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Beautiful Resort

A little bit of everything, it was quiet when you wanted to relax or Ron’s of fun if you wanted to dance and enjoy the shows. The entertainment in the lobby was amazing each evening. They did an amazing job getting people up and participating. The rooms were perfect. The ocean was amazing. I can’t wait to go back again. Hotel was amazing, very clean, best location, and very good staff, They answer to all questions kindly, I recommend this hotel to everyone. We were 6 people , we enjoyed from atmosphere in the hotel, also the buffet breakfast is very good. If I want to go to Barcelona again, I go to this Hotel .
