hotel is very clean no tippy maid most time no beer food is not american or even close bread is a 10 beer a 10 the rest a 5 the service in the snack bar is a joke the main buffet is a scramble bacon not cooked but can be done while your omelet is burning

Always waiting in line

We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and eager to help. I found we were always waiting in line for something; drinks, food (waited in line twice for over 40 mins at the buffet), even the bathrooms. To order "a la carte" was a 45 minute wait. Check in was over 30 minutes wait. Twice I attempted to change my beach towel. First time they ran out by 4pm and then at 10 am on another day they had no towels due to the laundry service. I was finally able to change it on my second to  [... read more]last day. They do not provide Kleenex or face cloths so you may want to bring your own.

Beautiful Resort

My sister and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. The resort itself is gorgeous with the friendliest staff. We did the three ala cartes and would definitely do the Chinese and International again. Unfortunately we were disappointed with our choice at the seafood ala carte. The grounds and our view was gorgeous. We would definitely go back if we have the opportunity to do so.

Amazing Resort amazing people

I love everything about this Resort. The people made it very welcoming. The food was good especially for Cuba the rooms were clean. I'm actually planning my second trip back. I've never repeated a trip the same Resort before so this will be my first. Also be sure to tip your entertainment team as almost everybody makes tips except them

Great Resort

The only negative feedback is the lighting of paths in the evening. They could also make sure to have the washrooms stocked with toilet paper being a 5 star resort. Overall great place to visit!! Looking forward to coming back 😊

Beautiful vacation spot

5th time in Cuba, 2nd in Cayo Coco. Rooms were nice & clean, air conditioning was great for relief from the heat. entertaining team was A+, food was good, resort lay-out was great. Only complaint was the challenge to get new water bottles or to have water bottles filled without asking or issue. Quick 40 min bus ride from the airport. 6 min drive to beautiful Pilar beach for a day trip. Will return.

Surprised

My wife was there 2weeks ago and she listed an issue with the housekeeping. There are still issues to be resolved but it is getting better. Met a return guest from a year ago who was very pleased. We also visited the Rainbow hotel and learned that when you have 100 guests as opposed to 1000 in our hotel.Customer service is easier.We ate at the international restaurant and seafood restaurant. Both were excellent and a new friend said that the Chinese restaurant was also very good. Amazing resort

Rooms were well kept and very updated The beach was a little rocky but overall very nice, never had an issue with getting a spot. Pools were very clean but a little on the cold side. The resort is a perfect size. Had that big feel but very easy to get around The food was absolutely amazing. This is my third time to Cuba and was by far the best food experience. Great resort!

Great place to stay. Beach is rocky, so bring water shoes. You really are in the middle of nowhere, so excursions are difficult so be prepared to stay mostly on the resort. The beach at Pilar is well worth the short bus ride for 5 Cuc. The staff are wonderful. The buffet has a bit of a design flaw as you line up for the food stations but overlap with others trying to get to the trays of prepared food. Great resort - okay food

The resort is brand new and beautiful/clean and is very close to Pilar beach. The staff makes this place amazing however the food situation is something else. Zero food safety standards in place nor is there any consideration for people with dietary restrictions (ex. vegetarians). Countless times did I see raw meat touching fresh vegetables. It seemed like the "cooks" in the dining area preparing your food are not really cooks as it felt like they didnt know what they were doing/making. The menu [... read more] was a little redundant with soft "tacos" and pasta being served every day. A la carte presentation was a 10/10 but the food portions were way too small. Other than that, the trip was a phenomenal value given the price you pay and what you get.

Beautiful Resort

The Hotel, pools, grounds and view where really nice. Local small market and store very close to it. Workers where very friendly, drinks where awesome. There where a few small issues with power, water, and maid service. Still had a great vacation

Fantastic holiday!

Just back from the Gran Muthu Imperial resort in beautifully Cayo Guillermo! We had an amazing holiday. The rooms were fantastic, with water and beer stocked daily, comfortable beds and lovely displays made by our room attendants everyday when we returned from the pool! The pools are beautiful - though a little chilly for my taste - once you were in they were lovely! I enjoyed the entertainment put on by the hardworking activity staff! The food was good - though no one goes to Cuba for the f [... read more]ood. I do have to give a shout- out to Hery at the omelette station and grilled delicious fresh fish at lunch. We tried all three a la cart restaurants as well and they were also good - my favourite being the seafood restaurant. The resort beach was beautiful, though I also recommend a trip to Pilar Beach - apparently one of the top 10 beaches in the world - it was worth the trip!

Great vacation at grand mutha imperial

Nice hotel, food is good for Cuba, personnel is friendly. Beach is nice but with some small rocks and seashells in the entry of the beach. Close to Pilar beach which is paradise... we did the snorkeling tour on a catamaran and it was a great outing.

Was a good trip overall - but will not return

The resort was clean, view was really nice, lobby was lively and staff was friendly for the most part. 4th time to Cuba - Buffet was poor - of the 4 Cuba resorts we have been to this was the worst - They had Cristal for only the 1st day - rest of the week was Bucanero which is a horrible beer - extremely disappointed in this as Cristal is the beer of Cuba and easy to drink. Force to drink the 5.4% crap beer - We had water pressure issues and power issues all week - Shower did not drain pro [... read more]perly and over flowed. Called for maintenance and no one came. We tried to fix ourselves - Housekeeping - poorly stocked fridge, had to ask 2 times for bath towels - Beach in front of resort was not swimmable - all rock. Small sand area to the left of the resort was shared with another resort - Lack of Market/Places to purchase trinkets. There are 2 on the resort and depending on the day the prices changed. We were leaving on a Friday- Wednesday they said all hats were 15 CUC. I wanted to think about it - purchased one Thursday and she said 16.95 CUC. When I mentioned it was 15 the day before she said no. Different person the day before. My loss I guess We took a tour of the resort next which was the Rainbow - was new and modern. Might be worth the extra money. For me - just because of the Cristal issue alone I would never be back but that is just me. They kept saying it was Trumps fault which I thought was funny.

Grand muthu imperial

Great resort we enjoyed it so much! Only suggestion is to get first aid kids handy. Cant ask for a better vacation and would reccomend to my friends and family for sure! There were more than enough restaurants and the service was quick and friendly! Great resort for cuba and happy to go again!!

Great Time Gran Imperial

We wanted a quite time to rest, relax and just enjoy a good book, sun and sand, and we did at Gran Imperial The grounds, the public areas and rooms were very clean. The pool and swim up bars were great. Jessicia, made great strong drinks, Giobany were very helpful in the gym, very friendly staff. The only thing that I found was the beach area was a bit small however ten minutes down the street was a nice bigger beach you could go to spend the day, however you had to pay for food and chairs [... read more]. But still nice. The food in the International Room was great, over all you have to remember that Cuban food is not like Canadian or other West Indian Resorts, it is Cuba. The location is a bit far from everything, the nearest mall is about (1 hour and it takes you 5 minutes to go through it. Very small. But you go for the sun, beach and relaxation.

Great Adults Resort

We chose this resort because it was an adults only and it was relatively new...a year old. I was travelling with family and we were not disappointed. It certainly met my expectations in terms of food, service, amenities, friendliness and entertainment. We really enjoyed the a la carte restaurants, especially the International. The sand in the ocean is a little bit rocky & shoes would’ve been good but we never had a problem walking bare foot on the beach sand. We had blue skies and sunshine every day and there was a welcome breeze as well just cooling you off. We enjoyed the entertainment in the lobby bar every evening & found the servers there very friendly & attentive. Thanks to our trip central agent Jack Gentille our special requests were all met. I would certainly go here again.

Not quite as advertised

Hotel was reasonably clean. They need to hire a maintenance person with a square & a level to actually get the showers working properly- doors are visibly out of line & don’t seal. Sunwing ad indicates unlimited a la carted -reality is 3. At check in told we would receive 1 water &1 beer per day - would have to pay extra for more- every other resort I have stayed at (7) provides 2 beer , 2 sofa & water daily. In my 7 day stay received 1 beer & 1 juice box.Buffet - although food was reasonably  [... read more]good - totally disorganized - people constantly cutting through lines to get at food - a few stanchions & ropes for lineups would easily fix.On check in they will change $ to vices at 68 cents dollar - no mention of the Banco in plaza right next door where rate is 72 c /dollar.Buy your rum etc at hotel for Cuba - duty free at airport cost $25 Canadian for a bottle of rum and honey priced at $13- exchanging cups to Canadian at bank is 1-1 no accounting for “30% exchange rate . First & last time at this resort for me - they may improve with time - but as a customer I am used to far better experiences in Cuba

Perfect trip!

This was my first trip to Cuba and I was very hesitant. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my vacations and food. However I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay here. Only 45 min drive from airport. Once we arrived there was a mix up with our room. We had booked ocean view and were given garden. They assured us an ocean view next day and sent us someone to help move all our luggage. Our air-conditioning wasn't working but they sent someone immediately and fixed it. The resort itself [... read more] has been very recently renovated. Updated, clean and beautiful. Lots of staff working to keep it clean. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Ive never been to a resort where I can truly say all staff were happy and pleasant. The food was above expectations. I've heard horrible things about food in Cuba. I was never hungry and always able to find something to eat at the buffet. The a la cartes weren't fantastic and small portions so we stuck to buffet. The infinity pools were fantastic. The beach was better than reviewed but water was a bit rocky. However 2km and a 5 peso ride away was playa Pilar one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen in all my years of traveling. I highly recommend spending a day here. We went with another couple and we're all very pleased with the entire experience.

Good Resort

Very nice resort, nice beach and pool area, good service. Unfortunately had a power outage at 3:00 till 7:45 pm.no lights, running water and no coffee during that time. We got transferred to Gran Muthu Rainbow next door free of charge for the remainder of our stay.Brand new hotel with fantastic service and accommodations, would strongly recommend both,Denis
