We had a great experience. The manager and the staff were very nice and very friendly. The rooms were very clean. Even the hallways, beach area and pool area were very clean as well. Highly recommend this resort.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: A good 4star resort
The grounds and room were very nice except for the rat that ate our sandwiches. And we had to clean up after each morning.
The food was average for Cuba, we expected more. Needs to upgrade service employees to a higher standard to meet the 5 star rating. The 5 star rating is it compares to other Cuban resorts. Not to world standards.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Very relaxing
We basically had the entire resort to ourselves. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was surprisingly good, the only real headache was just the traveling. Also the staff we’re having some issues with the Covid tests they had to administer. Short term headaches, overall we had a great experience and would definitely go again.

Melia Cayo Coco: Beautiful resort
The resort is designed for friendship. Everything is in close proximity the beach is wonderful the pool is very nice plenty places to lounge on. The staff are very nice The food is good but not wow. They were not at the full capacity when we were there so some of the restaurants were not open yet. Overall we enjoyed our stay tremendously. I wish they have better entertainment programs though it became repetitive after a while.
From the moment you step off the bus, the staff of Melia Cayo Coco are your family. A cool drink, with or without rum, is handed to you, and a hearty welcome is extended. Despite physical distancing, and mandatory masks, the excitement and smiles of the staff are intoxicating. Food is served with a smile, wait staff always chats for a moment, engaged in your daily activities. The cleaning staff is extremely diligent with ensuring the rooms and lobbies are spotless, and the grounds staff create a[... read more] tropical paradise with flowers and colors abound. The beach is amazing, we did not spend more than 30 minutes all week under cloud cover, and the water is beautifully sparkly and warm.
All in all, the Melia is well deserving of their reputation as a top resort. We will absolutely be back.

Melia Cayo Coco: Relaxing vacation
Resort was well kept, except for the seaweeds on the beach, they were only removed the day we left, so we had to look at them all week. It was probably worse then usual due to storm that passed through days before we arrived.
Staff was extremely vigilant with hand sanitizing.
Upon arrival we were tested for Covid at airport, that was time consuming. Very short ride to resort. Check in was smooth. I’m a celiac so I met with someone from guest services who brought me to dining room to meet the[... read more] chef. He proceeded to tell me what was safe and what wasn’t. Chef’s knowledge of celiacs disease was limited, he didn’t seem to understand cross contamination. The cook in the one a la carte we went to was much better and ensured I had a safe meal. We stayed in a lagoon room, wasn’t worth the money in august, as it was way too hot to enjoy the balcony. There were no mosquitos.
The biggest problem we had was money. We did a lot of research and spoke to people that had been recently. Even the web page quotes prices in US dollars ($30 pp US for Covid test to return), so we brought American money, which in previous years was not accepted but things are changing. I also had some left over CUC that I wanted to give away ( nobody wanted it, even though the time to use it was extended) finally found someone that took it. So getting back to the US money. The hotel would not accept it for anything. They wanted credit card payments for everything. As do government shops. We used the US money for tipping and came home with lots left over. So be prepared to use your plastic ( something we’ve never done in Cuba in the past)
All in all it was a relaxing week. First time going to Cuba in the summer and I found it very hot, but it was even hotter at home lol. Nice breeze at the beach all the time.
Not sure I’d return to that part of Cuba!

Melia Cayo Coco: I can't say enough good things about this resort. Must go again!!
It was our first travel experience during covid (also our first time going to Cuba) and I had many questions regarding the hotel, covid protocols, country entry requirements, etc. so I decided to email the resort directly. Gippsy (Sales Manager at Melia Cayo Coco) was very helpful and answered all my questions. The resort was quieter than I’m used to at all-include resorts (due to people not travelling yet because of covid) but I found it very relaxing and welcoming. Because the hotel was not [... read more]at full capacity, we got to know quite a bit of the staff that worked there and they always went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable. Thank you to Jorge for making sure we had our usual drinks even before we even sat down to eat our meals, to the garden men (Rahal, Felipe, and Joel) that would come find us at the beach for our daily dose of fresh coconuts, Joel for introducing us to his drink called the “Joel Special†and for hosting our private billiards night, Alberto for our daily chats and organizing our snorkeling trip out at the reef near the resort, all the dancers for providing such fun entertainment (I have never had so much fun dancing in my life!), Emilio for always making sure there was a bottle of water for us every morning, all the servers (so many to name but especially to Yulia, Idolina, Jesus) for being so kind and attentive to our requests. During our stay at the resort, we felt very safe! Staff were always masked (most times even double-masked plus a face shield) and they were always sanitizing their hands. We constantly saw the high-touch areas (doorknobs, faucets, light switches, etc.) being disinfected as well. Guests were required to wear masks in all indoor areas (unless actively eating or drinking) which was very well enforced by the staff. For example, when walking up to the buffet area, guests would not be served unless they were wearing masks! Regarding the buffet, the staff would fill up your plate which is so important in reducing guest exposure. I can not say enough good things about this resort and how well they have adapted to covid. Thank you again to all the staff at the resort for making our experience amazing!

Melia Cayo Coco: Resort did not disappoint
First time back to a resort in a long time. Recommended by a friend and the resort was everything they claimed it would be. As we stepped off the shuttle we were welcomed to a drink and the Manager personally welcomed us back to Cuba. This may have been special as we were the first Canadian group back to the resort since the lockdown. The resort is very picturesque. The photos on the website are a true representation of what the resort looks like but until you see it in person it isn't the [... read more]same. The most valuable asset of the resort are of course the staff. They make you feel like family almost immediately. I highly recommend the resort if you're looking to relax and recharge. Good rooms, good food, good people.

Melia Cayo Coco: Great as Always
This hotel I’ve been traveling to since 2002 about 25-30 times. I’ve never had a complaint. I’ve travelled to hotels across Cuba. And this has always been my favorite. And this trip was no different. A few items were limited but the staff went out of there way to make everything wonderful. The food was the as good as ever I’ve had anywhere in Cuba. They were going out of there way to make sure everything was staying spotlessly clean. Even in these trying times I would still highly recomm[... read more]end this location.

Melia Cayo Coco: Great resort, wonderful time!
Staff of the resort did a great job, they are ready for guests, new season, new life after COVID. The resort is very green, beautiful beach- one of the best in Cuba. Our room was very clean, recently renovated. La carte was working a little bit slower, we tried International and Mediterranean, but the buffet was great, so didn't go to check another ones. All associates were working hard to make our vacation enjoyable and unforgettable.

Melia Internacional: We loved this resort!!
We were at Melia December 2019 for one week. The resort is absolutely beautiful. It’s big, modern and very clean. Lot’s of bars to get a drink. Rooms are clean, food was delicious and plenty of drinks. Bartenders are friendly. We were at the beach a lot and used the beach bar. The bartenders there were absolutely great. The beach was very big and very beautiful. The sand and water were perfect. We took long walks along the beach. Food was delicious and plenty to choose from. The entertainme[... read more]nt was different than your usual resort entertainment. Every night was something different and unique and in different parts of the resort.
This was the best resort I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to many. I would definitely go back to this one. We were planning to go back in December 2020 but can’t because of Covid. One week wasn’t enough. Next time I’d love to go for 2 weeks especially with everything that’s gone on for the past year.
This is a resort for age groups 30’s/40’s, singles, and families.

Sol Palmeras: Sol Palmeras Cuba
Our rating for this Hotel would be 3 star. I have mix feelings about this place as far as the staff is concern mostly all the women staff were lovely friendly and helpful. We were in a group of 6 and myself and a friend were celebrating our birthdays. The coordinator I think Nancy was very helpful and arranged for us both to have cakes for our celebration at one of their à la carts. The Italian was the best. The buffet was very repetitious always the same thing never Never wonderful. the grill o[... read more]n the beach Was never ready would ask them what time could we get some food oh 20 minutes then we come back in 20 minutes and it wouldn’t be ready or there be nothing left. They continuously ran out of wine and beer it was odd that if they did open a bottle of wine in front of you they would go in the back room and it seemed they were watering it down why wouldn’t He pour it in front of you very unusual.the hotel is in need of major Reno the bathroom especially very run down all vent dirty and very old. The entertainment was ok . The beach was beautiful white sand but needed to be raked up lots of dangerous bit and pieces have to be very careful. Towel and Palapas we’re ample. The pool was in the process of being painted And needed attention I never seen Anyone attempting to clean the water of Debris.

Melia Cayo Coco: Very quiet resort
The hotel was kept very clean . The staff was very friendly. The rooms were dated and our maid was great, but we had no air conditioning in our room! Some of the bars open in the late afternoon and the piano bar wasn't open at all. The food was just good, but ok for cuban resorts. The beach was very nice. The resort was relaxing but just too quiet and filled with mainly older people.

Melia Las Dunas: Great beach and pool, wonderful people
Beautiful beach and pool area. Good live bands and dancing before 9:30 pm. Nice room with good air conditioning. Great staff. Nicely landscaped grounds.
It was good value for money except for the food.
However:
Nothing worked very well. No hot water the whole time (until second last day let water run a long time). Bathroom door wouldn't stay closed, toilet only partly flushed--had to pour extra water into it every time, phone never worked at all, lock on door to room failed three times[... read more] and had to call for repair, low light in lamp for reading, poor to no wifi reception in my room.
Food was really, really disappointing. I understand there is a difficulty getting food supplies, but seafood was so salty and overcooked it was inedible, a lot of meat and salty veg/bean mixtures, long line-ups for omelets or stir fries. Steam tables were not always hot enough. Noise in the cafeteria was deafening. Had to admire the creativity of the cooks with eggplant.
Could not buy kleenex or any other small items except water.
The White NIght group were very good entertainment. Lovely to sit in the lobby in the mornings and sip great cappuccinos. Pinas were fine.
Good weather, well mostly. :-)
Staff were all outstanding! Would go back if they could perk up the preparation of the food.
