Paradisus Cancun: Great Resort for a Family Vacation

We travelled as a group of 10, 6 adults and 4 children. This resort was great and appealed to all age groups. The kids really enjoyed the kids club and activities plus it gave them a break from the sun during the hottest hours of the day. The most fun was when they brought out a huge inflatable water slide! What stands out to me most about the Paradisus Cancun is the service. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, the pool service was constant, we were truly spoiled. Also the cleanl [... read more]iness of everything, there were workers always cleaning, the maids did a great job in the rooms too. I did find a huge dead cockroach in my room one night but I didn't see any others during my stay. I thought the food was average although some of our group loved it, the drinks were delicious, try a shot called 'mini beer', yum! The rooms were spacious enough although a little dated but the cleanliness made up for that. The beach was gorgeous and the pool was enormous, we loved both. The resort itself is really confusing as to which elevator to take to get where you need to go. It's divided in the middle so you can't get through. In short, I would recommend this resort as long as your expectations are realistic for a 4.5 star resort.

Grand Oasis Sens: Beyond terrible

This was not a suitable hotel. Our room stunk like the inside of a musty toilet. It stunk so bad that every time we entered, it made us gag. We complained and asked to be moved to another room and were told “ No. hotel is full” it took two days of fighting for a new room and we had to get our Transat rep involved before hotel staff would even attempt to resolve the problem. On our third day they finally moved us to a room that was a bit better. However we had to be out of our stinky room by  [... read more]noon and had no access to our newly assigned room until 3pm. Upon moving into our new room we found that the room safe was broken and had to wait for a repair before we could leave our valuables. Ultimately the hotel cost us an entire day out of our vacation. We have washed our belongings three times since our return home and still everything smells like the musty stinky room. We would never ever stay here again. No one looked happy, staff or guests. Staff... probably because they were dealing with constant complaints and guests probably because of smelly rooms.no restaurants were open past 10pm. Not enough shade provided on beach. One day security would not allow guest in the ocean. No lifeguard on duty. Said it was not safe to swim and yet resorts right next door on either side were allowing swimming.

Golden Parnassus Resort & Spa: Good resort

Service at this resort is absolutely amazing! The staff is what makes this resort function. Rooms are out dated and the food was good but definitely room for improvement. Not much night life at this resort.

The Pyramid Cancun: Overall this resort has all the things you need

Food was great, nice exciting restaurants (Black hole & Bensuza). The biggest problem we had was there is no control of noice after 11 pm. The party people would come in and it would get loud. We were in the Pyramid part, so ear plugs are a must. We would go back staff was awesome, any problems were addressed quickly. For a huge resort it did not seem crowded. But you must upgrade to the black pyramid bands to enjoy the best places on the resort. Recommend doing before you leave home.

Emporio Cancun: Great Vacation

We had a great time here. The hotel is very well kept clean. They are always cleaning everything rails grounds even hand picking weeds out of the ground. Loved the food no complaints there just wish there were more alcartes. My favourite breakfast server was Daysi and her husband was awesome as well. Martin was the first smiling face we seen when we got there he is a amazing bellboy. He solved any problems we might of had. Angel was the best beach server ever Cup was never empty. This is prett [... read more]y much a smoke free resort so me as a smoker will make a comment or two. I respect the fact to pertect non smokers but have a spot where you don’t have to walk massive stairs to have a smoke . My husband is a no. Smoker would agree I need a new knee and waiting but the stairs hurt to have a smoke. I no there renovating and there will be more restaurants so that will top the cake. If you don’t like the buffet you can order of the menu. All in all we loved our stay and will definitely go back once they have more restaurants

Emporio Cancun: Emporio Cancun

The main bartender in the beach bar lies about drinks and tries to sell drink to guests. The room has cockroaches. I booked a room with king size bed. But hotel asked for more money and gave me a room with 2 beds. If I knew this I wouldn't book this hotel. The A/C in the room is very noisy. I would not stay in this hotel next time.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Party Resort

Long lines for food/drinks, staff very unpleasant + unhelpful, rooms were nice however ground floor room smelled musty, drinking cups reused throughout resort and only rinsed out not properly washed. Food very poor for Mexico. If you are looking to party for a week this is the place other than that save your money and go elsewhere

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Fabulous Resort

We visited Secrets the Vine Cancun for a conference and added a few days on to make the stay one week long in March 2019. The unit was beautiful, a corner unit with a surrounding balcony. It was very nicely decorated and very homey. It was clean. The staff could not do enough for you. Every time you turned around they were there to help with a chair or serviette. I would highly recommend this resort to friends and family. I one negative would be that the vendors were allowed on the beach b [... read more]eyond the ropes constantly. One trip is fine but for someone who spends some time on the beach, it becomes irritating. The other thing, it is advertised that each person gets a free round of golf a day at another secret in Cancun. Unfortunately, that is not the case. It cost us 150 round trip US, and a 99 service fee for each golfer. It was very disappointing as the golf manager would not budge one cent. There were 5 of us golfing and the course was not busy. This is something that should be addressed as it is misleading. Thank you.

Grand Oasis Sens: Fun on the sun!

I stayed at the Grand Oasis Sens for a week the end of February. The hotel is an adults only and I thoroughly enjoyed the peace. Well....peace from kids. The atmosphere is fantastic and everyone is there to have a great time. There is some local gang violence that kept me on the resort. The rang of age is 20 to 50. I’ll be back!! Tom

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Reliable resort for fussy travelers

This was our 3rd stay at an Excellence resort (twice at Playa Mujeres/ once at riviera maya). We have been to the Cancun region about 40 times and have stayed at an array of 5 star resorts. We have rarely returned to a resort so for us to return to the Excellence tells you everything. We prefer the playa Mujeres location- better beach, service, quality of food and newer. Overall, we were most impressed with the service. Typically service tends to diminish over time at resorts rather than improve [... read more] so we were pleasantly surprised to experience a marked improvement in this area from one visit to another (and it was already very good). The service from absolutely everyone (except one waiter at the Italian restaurant) at the resort was superb (and I don’t say that lightly). Our favourite restaurant was the French and we found ourselves returning every second night of a 9 night stay. The service is first class. Lobster House is lovely for an outdoor dinner given its proximity to the beach. The only disappointment was not being able to dine outside at the Italian restaurant. During the day, the indoor space is used for the buffet breakfast and is quite lifeless in the evening with no ambiance whatsoever and the food is not great. There is also a big step down in service at this restaurant. If one likes group themed dinners, this resort does a great job of putting on entertaining dinner events (note to corporate travel organizers: particularly good for corporate employee events- we hosted 60 people a few years ago and the employees loved these themed evenings). The no reservation policy for restaurants also works well. The coffee shop is terrific and is a saviour for coffee/tea addicts with good snacks and ice cream. Evening entertainment is decent. The Il Divo night was my favourite. The Michael Jackson show should be retired. Finally, I need to note the superb service of our concierge Daniel. My husband had to leave at 9am for his flight and my pick up was at 4 pm. The concierge was kind enough to give me an extra late check out at no charge. This was astounding and because of this consideration, we will be booking another vacation at the Excellence. Final suggestion: for people who like to order wine (as we do), it was somewhat prohibitive with prices ranging from $80-$130 canadian for a decent bottle. The mark up on wine is excessive. If there were more reasonable wines or prices, more guests would order bottles. We noticed that almost everyone was drinking the house wine. The main bar has great martinis made by passionate bartenders. The beach is terrific for long walks as not crowded at all (and no disturbances with locals selling stuff)- very safe to leave your things on the beach chairs unattended for hours at a time. A very relaxing holiday.

Krystal Grand Cancun: Good resort

We stayed in the alititude tower over all good stay. Good location close to nightlife. Hotel staff were very helpful. Only one bar at the hotel is open until 1am. Service was a little slow as you need to provide your room number for everything. No night entertainment.

Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa: Good Family Resort

After staying a week at this hotel I was so surprised to read some bad reviews about this hotel. It really scared me and almost made me want to go somewhere else. I’m glad I didn’t. So for this reason I felt I needed to write this review. First off I would say this is more of a young family resort. You don’t see screaming kids around but it’s not a party hotel. You don’t feel pressure at all to tip but the service was good from arrival to departure so we typically did. No problem getting a drink ever. Hotel - 10/10. Considering it’s a family resort it was so clean. Grounds are beautiful. You never see garbage, plates or glasses laying around no one seems to be smoking which is really nice. It’s a big place but nothing is too far away and it doesn’t seem busy. Beach- the beach is very long. Right in front of the hotel they do a really good about cleaning the seaweed if you walk down the beach that isn’t hotel property there is lots of seaweed. You just need to walk closer to the water and you’ll be fine. Not the best beach I’ve been to but there are plenty of chairs, towels, and bars to service you. Water isn’t super clear like the Mayan so if you really like to swim this may be a problem for you. Food- there is something for everyone. The gaucho (meat place) was amazing. Many people raved about this. You need to get there early if you don’t want to wait. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was great. Lots of fruit and 2 omelette stations. Dinner at the buffet I have to agree was lacking but no one really was there so maybe they don’t want to have lots of food that people won’t eat. The Mediterranean place was also good. The French place was adults only which was a shame. Maybe they could offer an early time slots so families could enjoy it. For me the fusion (sushi style) wasn’t great but others really liked it. I’m just not a big sushi Eater. We have an 8 month old and we were always able to find food to give him. There are also plenty of high chairs and they are clean. Ice cream place was reallllly good and also had the best coffee. Rooms- Beautifully designed. House keeping came everyday and the fridge was always stocked. If you have a baby that naps you’ll need to work around them since the timing varies. Entertainment- not sure we never made it out since we have a young baby. After lunch hour and around 7 they have a band which was nice having live music. Water- bottled water is provided. You cannot drink the tap water (you probably wouldn’t anyway) I felt so bad about using plastic everyday. This was the only negative thing I would say about this hotel. Other - there are mosquitos at night but they provide repellent in the room. Overall this was a great trip and I would come back as a family. Many people we had met had been here multiple times. If it was just me and my partner I would probably still come and go the the secrets side more frequently. Of course sometimes there were a few hiccups but nothing to give this hotel a low rating.

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Secrets Playa Mujeres

We spent a week at the Secrets Playa Mujeres at the end of February 2019. This was our first time in PM which is about 30-40 minutes north of Cancun - the area is beautiful and seems more relaxed and secluded than Cancun or the Mayan Riviera. The resort is beautiful and well maintained - lots of chairs around the pool and on the beach. There are the expected "chair savers" that are out early in the morning but that happens pretty much anywhere and is hard to control. We spent the majorit [... read more]y of our time at the main pool and enjoyed the drinks, entertainment, people watching and the daily volleyball match. Service was really good poolside. We spent a half day at the spa and each got massages because we got a deal (50% off) when we checked in...worth it with the deal. If there is one downside to this resort it is food quality...not that the food is bad because it isn't; in fact breakfast and lunch either at the buffet or the grills, etc. was really good. It was the dinners for us, they just weren't "great". We tried every restaurant and the food was generally underwhelming. I admit that I'm maybe being a little more critical because of the price we paid for the vacation (and we are "foodies" although we eat pretty much anything) but I just want to help in managing expectations as we did feel a bit let down after our evening meals. All in all, a really nice resort; beautiful beaches and pools, great amenities and service, good to average food.

The Pyramid Cancun: Good resort

Hotel was beautiful, rooms were small but nice. Food was amazing. Service was good but there was none around the pools. When we have paid for a 5 star before, there was no limatations on booze type, we had to pay for top shelf booze & it was very expensive.

Grand Oasis Sens: Great Resort

Clean beautiful hotel. No 18-21 kids running around. Food very good. You have access to all other 3 oasis resorts with a day pass. Plan ahead for the Box restaurant. Bracelet not necessary. Study activities offered by hotel because sometimes you have to sign up ex. kinki boat cruise. Overall, I would go back.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Very good all inclusive

This is a new hotel by Riu chain. Very high level of service ( with smile) in all its functions. Food quality very high, cooking varies from good to excellent. Rooms well appointed, everything works. There is a stand-alone bathtub in the room, not sure why? Apparently a new fashion. We used a nice walk-in shower. This is an alcoholic heaven for those so inclined. Included is each room is a fridge with beer and four various bottles of hard liquor. With meals, unlimited amount of reasonable win [... read more]e and sparkling wine. Several bars serving a variety of good mixed drinks and a reasonable selection of imported brands. Around pools and on the beach a steady supply of drinks offered by service staff. It is fairly isolated. at the end of a long road, next to a sister Riu hotel. Nice beach but can be exposed to strong winds (depends on the season)

Grand Oasis Cancun: Best resort I’ve ever been to

The staff are amazing and friendly the resort is beautiful and the beach is reallly nice great food aswell the steak rotisserie place is better then the keg marble floor everywhere and wild peacocks on the resort are really cool the pool is huge and the Bebidas are cool best resort I’ve ever been to forsure

Iberostar Selection Cancun: Great resort

We had a great time at this resort. The staff was friendly and helpful, the resort is clean and well kept. Our room could have used some upgrading but not a big deal. Limited amount of palapas on the beach when comparing to other resorts we have been. I love that everything is so close by, especially when travelling with a 2 year old. The buffet has lots of selection and the a la cartes were good also. Unfortunately could not go to the French restaurant as no kids are allowed.

Grand Oasis Sens: Rate it as 2

Too many stairs, not clean. Had VIP room and felt like a regular room...pool on our deck was never cleaned...liner was spotted with rust and white spots...deck very frailed, husband went through the deck and needed first aid. We arrived an we weren’t on the list...no rooms...the put us in the basement with no luxury...bar fridge empty, bathtub was draining and lot of mold everywhere. Positive note the food was amazing and so were the drinks. Thank god weather was nice throughout the week. It made up for it. Would never recommend this resort.

TRS Coral: Gorgeous Resort - Service Not So Great

The resort itself was absolutely stunning. We stayed in a loft which was really lovely. We had a partial view of the ocean and a lovely view of the TRS section of the resort which is the main pool and buildings. The service however was pretty awful. Our butler Cesar was awful. He didn't bring us a bottle of champagne when we requested it on our first day or book our reservations for the a la carte restaurants. He ead the worst.
