Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: The resort is amazing exactly how we expected
No complaints about anything.
The resort is amazing the people are friendly, the food was great. The beach is nice but a little crowded and noisy for me. But this can’t be avoided especially when this noise was made by the tourists and the hotel cannot do anything.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Disappointed
Nothing fancy… in need of major facelift. Upholstery was very stained and worn in rooms and dining areas. Patio door in room was very hard to open and closet doors were missing. We were three in our room and we each had a bath towel - no bath mat, hand towels or face cloths. We had to ask often to switch them out as they did not dry because of the humidity. Air conditioning was very noisy, and in room phone did not work. Stuck with the same beach towel all week … dry ones were never availabl[... read more]e. Dishes weren’t always available … you had to wait for them to bring some out and there were lineups. The food wasn’t great but we expected that. The bars would run out of stuff and the mixed drinks were inconsistent.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Geat Resort
We love to this Resort. Everything was clean and friendly and the food was good. I would recommend upgrading to the relaxed section. We had a a la cart breakfast and lunch which was very good and much quieter than the buffet. The Pool was nice and had a good swim up bar. The beach was big and cleaned every day and there was lots of shade. Entertainment was good. Dinner a la carts for great. We did have troubles with her room the air conditioner was broken. We never complained about it because i[... read more]t wasn't too hot. When we had a problem with the safe they were there right away to help fix it. Great friendly stuff. We would go back again

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Best Cuba Vacation.
This year was our third vacation to Cuba. Once to Cayo Coco and twice to Varadero. Bar far this was the best vacation of all three. The resort is older that the other two we visited but the resort is so well maintained and the staff go above and beyond to make sure you are enjoying your vacation. Ever staff member that walks by you at the resort always acknowledges you and often asks if you are having a good time. The food was amazing...there was even season which we had previously heard wa[... read more]s lacking in Cuban food. The Beach BBQ every day at lunch was fantastic. The after dinner performance and the evening shows were amazing. Often when asked whether I would return to a resort, my response is usually no...only because I often want to experience new places and new hotels. However I definitely know I will be going back to Iberostar Playa Alameda.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Good time
Resort very nice. Got quite a few bites from what I don’t know. The bathrooms in the resort need more attention as they were always out of paper. Food was good plenty to eat. Need more entertainment during the day. Booked a beachside hotel room. Surprised to find out it was beachside and not beach view. We looked onto a field. My fault just assumed. Staff very friendly except one rude person at front desk who walked away when he was asked a question
Everything at this resort was perfect. Our fourth time and wont be the last!
Staff are friendly and attentive, rooms spotless, beach and pools clean, food amazing!
Great place to relax if you want or be as active as you want. Lots of walking or golf cart rides!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Gorgeous beach!
This was our first trip to Cuba. The beach was gorgeous, the ocean was warm, calm and lovely. The resort grounds were well kept, the pools were clean and large.
The food was only ok. We knew it would not be fantastic, but were disappointed that there was not more seafood, and fresh fruit and vegetables. The rooms were large, beds were ok. The cleanliness left a bit to be desired, but not for lack of staff trying. The elevators in the resort were not reliable, so if you have mobility issues,[... read more] it would be hard to get around. The staff were lovely and did their best to help when you need something.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Adequate
Very large resort. Three story buildings with no elevators. Grounds finally mowed after reaching about 15" in height. Bar staff alright but sterile. No atmosphere. Had to have permission from manager to change channel therefore subject to eternal commercial for Iberostar. After 2 hours waiting for flight, 4 hours on flight, an hour waiting for bus to leave and a one hour bus ride, it would have been nice to get a welcome drink. Mini fridge should be re-stocked every day not every second day. All[... read more]-in-all a very nice resort with good food and good buffet and maid staff but lacks feelings.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Unbiased and Honest Review
I just wanted to share our honest review of this property, so that future guests can make an informed decision about staying here. This was our 9th total all-inclusive, first in Cuba.
My wife and I, along with another couple stayed at this resort from February 5-12th. Check-in was smooth and efficient. No welcome drink as promised with our package, but we're easy going, no big deal.
Rooms: We stayed in Building 20, which is the Relax Upgrade block. Our room was clean and sufficient, but ce[... read more]rtainly needed some repairs. Shower curtain was disgusting, towels were dirty, an overall paint job is required. I don't spend a lot of time in the room, so all of this wasn't a huge deal to me. Our travel companions had a completely different experience. Their room was filthy, with hand prints on the walls and mold everywhere. To the resorts credit, after complaint they were moved to a better room the next day.
Food: I'm not picky, but the food here isn't very good. One of the biggest issues is that nothing is labelled. This honestly doesn't make any sense. How are you supposed to know what you're eating? I understand Cuba has it's limitations, but they constantly ran out of supplies and the coffee at the buffet looked grey. We survived on pizza for the most part. Fries would have been nice but they were in short supply.
Drinks: Depends where you got them. The lobby drinks were marginally better than the rest of the resort. Where this resort shines is with there lobby staff. The girls that came around to take drink orders were FANTASTIC. Super attentive and very friendly. The gentleman who serves unique drinks in the middle of the lobby is another gem. Always smiling and happy. The guys in the lobby bar were hit and miss. The thing I couldn't understand was why some drinks were available at the beach, or pool but not at the lobby. Typically you find the best drinks at the lobby, but they didn't have the supplies to make a Mojito. Aren't these a traditional Cuban drink?
We also went to the Japanese and Gourmet ala cartes. Japanese was decent, but no chicken. Probably a supply issue. The Gourmet also had a bunch of stuff taken off the menu due to supply issues. We actually really enjoyed the flavour of our meals here, although the meat was rather tough to chew.
Other Notable Things:
- You keep the same beach towel all week. This is ridiculous and disgusting
- Felix at the pool bar is an awesome guy. Ask him for a coochie-coochie
- Orlando the gardener is one of the nicest people I've ever met
- The beach is great
- You get one 1.5L of bottled water per day. If you only drink half and leave it in the fridge, you won't get another, so bring it with you.
Summary:
Unfortunately, I won't be back to this resort. It's average at best and requires a complete shut-down to take care of the miscellaneous maintenance issues. I might recommend this resort to those who have never gone to an all-inclusive before as a first one.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Needed TLC resort
We were not happy with our room as it didn't have a king bed as requested and a few amenities in the room were missing. We asked for a new room which we got the next day. It was a much better room! The front staff were very accommodating.
We loved the lounges.
Loved the beach! Beautiful and clean. Bar service right to our chair on the beach, this was a first for us to experience! One day we even had a fresh coconut carved in front of us with Cuban rum added...awesome.
Pool was lovely[... read more].
We didn't like the pool entertainment as it was very loud. Not crazy about the show in the Theatre. (We have attended many theatre shows over the years so we are quite picky!) But we loved the strolling Cuban musical bands in the lounge and the other live theatre installations!!! WOW!!
The food was good but not great.
Loved the Mexican Restaurant!
Experienced some real Cuban culture on the Bus Tour to Moron city, which we loved and thought the price we paid was very, very fair. We had the best tour guide Elisabeth.
The resort needs some TCL and some renovations. It probably was a 4 star hotel at one time but we feel it is only a 3 star now.
We loved the staff at the Iberostar Dacquiri! the nicest, most gracious people. They made us feel special.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Always outstanding
After an amazing visit last year we decided to visit the Grand Paraiso again, and somehow it was even better. Drinks are always top shelf. Food delicious, varied and fresh. This year I noticed a grill by the pool almost every day: one day steak, another burgers, another fajitas. It made the poolside even more chill.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Resort new but lacking alot of food. Complaining to Chef and Manager didn't help.
I complained while at the resort to one of Managers - Elenanis about the horrible food about was told to speak to the Chef - Domingo about the food to see if he could cook something I would like.. I requested a la carte instead and was told that was not possible. The following day I spoke to the Chef and was told he cooked with whatever that was provided. I complained that there was no pizza, fries, cereals, bananas, potatoes and vogurt ? I was told there was a shortage due the embargo. I don't [... read more]buy that answer, what a waste of money.
Luckily for the guests I had asked for French toast and from then on they provided it daily.
I do not recommend this resort unless you are on a diet and wish to lose weight. .
Both of us were bitten by No see ums bugs and sand fleas.
Please avoid this resort.

Hotel Mojito: It's kind of like Cheers.
I may be dating myself with this reference, but this resort is a special place for those that find it special - like the bar, Cheers, in the TV Show, where everyone knows your name. To see so many people return again for another stay at their "Cuban Home" is to appreciate the feel of the resort. This was the second time that we stayed at the Mojito, the first time was six years ago .. and you can see the changes that time and a destructive wind event had upon the grounds and structures. But tha[... read more]t didn't change the essential feel of the place - the food was good, by Cuban standards, the beach is still amazing - and this smaller resort is easily navigated and visually interesting. A couple that we met on the beach summed it up nicely when they said that this is the hidden gem of Cayo Coco ... they're probably right.

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Very good experience
Iberostar Tucan was overall a good experience and we would definitely go back. We were celebrating our 3rd year honeymoon anniversary.
There are a few things to note though. The air conditioning in our room wouldn't go below 20 degrees celcius as a setting but never actually went low enough to get to 20 anyways, was a hot sleep. Also we had one of the restaurants in close proximity to our room and the staff were banging things (cleaning out large sinks and such at all hours of the morning, [... read more]1 am, 5am, etc.) This woke us up a few times and when we tried to call reception they didn't speak any English so it took us going down on the 4th day of our stay to complain before we could get a relatively peaceful nights sleep. Oh and the pillows were waay too stuffed, cranked our neck way too high.
We were super impressed with the food quality and service of the staff, they were exceptional. The best part of this resort are the beautiful animals and jungle that it occupies. The monkies and coati's (like cute little mexican racoons) were adorable. Was amazing. The shows were really good too. Another spectacular thing about this place was it's beach, definitely one of the best beaches I have ever been to. We loved that Iberostar is trying to be more Ocean conscious and are using reusable water containers, no straws and such.
Cleaning staff were excellent and the pool was just lovely. Waiting staff in the buffets and restaurants were all very professional and made our food experience like a date every time. Other than the sleep quality, this was one of the best resorts we have ever been to.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Feb 6
Too many things to list, first AC was cool but didn't draw out the humidity at all, had to iron my clothes. Bathrooms at the beach I wouldn't send a homeless person into, urinals full and spilling over all the time. Wooden walkway to the beach just unsafe to use.
No evening lighting, broken or missing bulbs. Food cooked at the beach BBQ was always burned, always!!¡!!!!!!!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful Resort
Overall this is a beautiful Resort. We enjoyed our stay and everyone was very friendly. A few recommendation would be to have some sort of food names in the buffet... sometimes I could not figure what I was looking at and just guessed at that it was with regards to meat and fish. Also big issue with getting beach towels exchanged clean one, we ended up going to our Sunwing rep. Jamal who got it resolved for us - Jamel was awesome!! The A La Carte were excellent, loved the Japanese the most!! Rec[... read more]ommend the Relax Suite as it includes the VIP service and rooms were very nice.

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Great resort with tons of wildlife
I stayed at the Iberostar Quetzal with my friend from Feb 3rd 2020 to Feb 10th 2020. It was our first time in Mexico. The resort itself was very clean, the workers do anamazing job keeping the landscaping very tidy no garbage anywhere. The resort is very ecofriendly and recycles! The rooms had everything needed in an all inclusive resort. We were in room 2843. The balcony looked out to the buffet restaurant and 2 bird cages where 1 of the peacocks would sleep on everynight. There was wild life e[... read more]verywhere. They would mind their own business. I love animals and loved seeing howler monkies, agoutis, coatis, tortoise, iguanas, squirrels, parrots, peacocks, phens, flamingoes and many other birds. There was a jungle you could walk through that was lit up at night and had many Mayan statues and waterfalls. It was the best part of the hotel. Inside our room it had a safe, fridge that they would stock with beer and pop. Kinda wish they would put some juice as I don't drink pop or beer but it wasn't a big deal. The cleaning lady made lovely towel creations everyday. She cleaned and made our beds everyday and gave us fresh towels.
The food at the 3 buffets were pretty good. Cozumel, Tulum and Uxmal. Breakfast was always my fave meal! I was expecting more meat and fish/seafood options being an island and its what I am use to but it wasn't too bad. The guacamole was def the best. The chips tasted stale? My friend is a vegetarian and she found some of the foods not labelled properly. Some foods that were labelled cheese quesadia actually had ham in it. We tried 3 a la carte restaurants the Tex Mex (Mexican) the servers were very cautious of my friend being a vegetarian and kept letting us know if there was any meat inthe meals which was nice. The tacos and apps were ok nothing special. Not sure if its the corn used for the tacos that I am not use to but they tasted old to me. Not a fan. We tried the La Gondala (Italian) the apps were very good I ordered the fish pasta which was alright, pasta tasted very doughy. My friend ordered the tortellini in cheese sauce. The menu didn't specify if there was meat inthe tortellini and she didn't ask but there was meat in them so she mentioned it to the server and they brought her the cheese and spinach ravioli instead. She enjoyed them. The Steak house a la Carte was my favourite because I am a meat eater. The apps were good. The meal itself was the best! I ordered the sirloin steak, rare and it came with corn, potatoes and some broccoli. My friend got a vegetarian plate with some stir fried veggies, broccoli, potatoes and corn. She enjoyed her meal.
There was soft serve ice cream at the Uxmal but at the outside area which was great but my fave was the vanilla ice cream inside the buffets or at the ice cream shop by the beach. The drinks were good not too strong but I found the bar tenders not as friendly from most places I've visited. They would serve spanish people first and I would try my best and order in spanish but I would be waiting a while for a drink. And I am not a person who tips bar tenders. The waiters around the pool and beach would order drinks for us but sometimes forget to bring them back or take a while and we would be gone before we would get them. I'd rather just get my own drink.
The beach was awesome! White sand which the workers cleaned the seaweed every morning. There were not many locals who bothered us. If they did come to us we would just say no thank you and they would move along. The ocean was amazing, clean and not rough at all. Some waves but nothing crazy that you couldn't go in. The only thing I didn't like is we were only allowed to move our beach chairs to the sign which was far from the ocean. But I made sure I didn't leave valuables in my beach bag.
The entertainment crew were very friendly. They had some very fun activities and funny shows at night. There were 2 guys who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, Chocolate and Flower. They are great entertainers! We walked to Playacar shopping centre which was a 10 min walk from the resort but it was very safe as it was all tourists and hotels inthe area. They had the best souvenirs and prices for them. We did all of our shopping there as the shops inthe hotel are expensive and double the price. If you can make it out to 5th ave. This is another tourist area which is safe. There are tons of shops and night life. Even went to Walmart. Alcohol at the bars were very cheap as well.
In all we had a great time.
Beach and the animals were the best part!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Absolutely Fabulous Resort
We stayed 9 days at the Del Mar this time. (2nd year in a row to this resort).
The staff are ALL amazing. The grounds are immaculate....not one blade of grass out of place. It is so clean because the workers are always on top of everything.
The shows were also fantastic. The dancers and singers work so hard to perfect each show.
Finally, the food was delicious. Ate at the Japanese a la carte twice.
All around good time at this resort
