Secrets Royal Beach: Had a great holiday

Our first time to Republic de Dominica...First of all I must say the service provider by Tammy at Trip Central was phenomenal ! We flew non stop from YYZ Air Canada...great timing on the flight and arrived to a very friendly airport staff that directed us to our Air Canada Vacation rep and sent us on our way to Secrets Royal Beach Resort .Quick trip and very welcoming arrival and check in. We were given a choice of room and we went with the Jr Garden Suite...it was perfect for us! I must say [... read more] that also on arrival we were also met (we felt slightly accosted) by a representative from UNLIMITED VACATION CLUB who gave us a welcoming gift (2 refrigerator magnets) and said we had an appointment the next day with a the group. We just got to our room and the phone rang from the same rep from UNLIMITED VACATION CLUB reminding us to bring our Passports and ID to the meeting. Again we had not settled in to our holiday and felt a little pushed. Not sure why we might need our passport and ID. We had a wonderful day but the next day on the way to the coffee shop in the morning we were again cornered by a UNLIMTED VACATION CLUB rep. We did sit down with him out of curtesy and he had quit the sales pitch. To start with again they wanted our Passport and ID...the even told us they would give us a ride back to our room to retrieve such. After hearing the sales pitch and letting them know the $50,000 was out of our interest and we were trying to relax on our holiday they brought in another "closer rep" and when we turned him down he just promptly walked away without even a thankyou. We could just assume they wanted our passport and ID to tie us up legally in some way. This was the only unpleasant part of our stay. I would suggest researching UNLIMITED VACATION CLUB with Better Business Bureau for another opinion. Secrets Royal Beach Resort was overall great holiday for us. We ate at every restaurant and tried every bar and pool ...all fabulous staff and service. Plenty of bottled drinking water around every corner of the resort. HAD A GREAT TRIP....

Riu Palace Macao: Beautiful resort

This resort is lovely and very clean. Exactly what we were looking for. Very relaxing! The staff were very attentive and pleasant. The only negative comment was the vendors on the beach were quite persistent. As well, very persistent is attempting to sell illegal drugs. Was approached very day to buy ‘weed’ and cocaine. Very annoying!

Tropical Deluxe Princess: Great Resort

The grounds were beautiful and well kept up by the hard workers. Loved this resort it was very clean and staff was friendly. Had lots of choices for the Restaurant, the Chinese one with the show was delicious. The entertainment was great my favorite was the circus night. Having a beach restaurant was great. There were 3 pools which were all nice. Love seeing the Iguanas every day the flamingos turtles peacocks and docks. Loved the wildlife. The only thing I missed was having the towel art on my  [... read more]bed even with a tip( wasn't a big deal but it is kind of neat to see the different things they make) The water was very wavy which wasn't great hoping I could snorkel off the beach . Not enough shade umbrellas or chairs around the active pool. But all in all I loved this resort it is great

Grand Bavaro Princess: Amazing resort

Grounds fantastic Platinum package worth the cost Food was good Rooms great This was our 6th time at resort and will be back next year Pools were great Had 3 pools to pick from and a kids pool and slides Only problem was lots of kids in platinum pool

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana

I was very disappointed. We are definitely never going back. Air Transat representative was very unprofessional. Most of us guests were ignored as the representative prioritized booking tours to earn commission. It became necessary for me and other to interrupt and remind the representative of our primary reason for meeting him at 10am in the hotel theater— obtaining essential information regarding our bus departure time. Food was below average. Lunch at The Food Truck restaurant was terr [... read more]ible. To place an order you must enter your room number for everyone to see on the screen above the counter. Wow! it is a matter of time before an unfortunate incident happen. The room was very nice and staff very professional.

Tropical Deluxe Princess: Very clean resort!

I loved the fact that the public bathrooms were so extraordinarily clean and good smelling. The resort is small, its great for families with kids, great food. The rooms are close to the buffet, pools and the beach. Within 1-3 minutes you can reach any one of those. The lobby, and the you can walk 10 minutes through a small tropical forest or take the mini bus. Beach was alao great. Will definitely return here, one of the best resorts I've been to.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Wonderful Resort

We.have been to this resort in Sousa DR few times before but I must say, our overall experience was well worth the price! The food was really amazing but something has to be done about bookings for evening dinner : wasn't enough space to book.We will be back again!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Awesome Vacation

This was our second time to this resort , we upgraded to the Royal package. We stayed 2 weeks this time. All the A'la cartes were good and the buffets were good as well. The resort is smaller, walkable and relaxing. The beach goes on for miles, room was basic but kept very clean. We spent most evenings at The Vintage Club. Shout out to Eileen, Olvis and Santa for the warm hospitality it was fun. Thank you to the guys at the beach club for making us part of the family while we were there. Occidental Caribe: Disappointed in the Rooms

The grounds and the hotel itself were very nice. We had no problem with the service, staff were friendly and helpful. We had to change rooms 3 times. The first room was unclean, smelt, and the bathroom was gross. We requested a new room right away and were given one. The second room was a bit better than the first. The main room was cleaner but the bathroom was still yucky and the toilet barely flushed with each use. We requested to move again and were given a room in building 2. This room was c [... read more]leaner, had a ceiling fan and looked upgrade. The bathroom was somewhat upgraded, the tub looked in newer condition. The toilet worked as it should. Although this room was better than the other two rooms the ceiling in the bathroom was leaking and left our vanity soaked all the time. I would love to go back to the Dominican Republic just not this resort.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Meh, OK

Great location about 15 minutes to the airport. The outside is lovely and well maintained. Great fishing right off the edge of the grounds. My room was not great. Air conditioning did not work. They sent someone to fix it the first night and it still wasn't working. So I gave up and put up with the 26.5 temperature for the week. Killed 4 cockroaches in my room. Hot water was touch and go. Room (2329) definitely needs an update. Cracks in the ceiling, shower knob is broken off so had to turn it o [... read more]n using the remaining screw part left in the wall, not easy. I did not bother booking any of the restaurants. Food was OK. They actually had bacon some mornings! Staff were great, friendly and kind. I was traveling by myself (single female) and walked to Sosua beach and took a taxi into Cabarete and felt very safe the whole time. Overall, would go back if the price was right, but maybe ask for a better room.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Amazing as always!

3rd vacation at this resort and will not be my last. Well kept, clean, great food, pool and beach. Staff are very friendly and professional. Would recommend the adults only for those travelling without children, it is worth the extra money.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing service

This was my 4th visit at Ambar and have noticed that the pool area does need an update and more umbrellas are for sure needed around the pool. I truly wish that the staff would enforced the do not reserve a chair rule as many were left empty for a major part of the day. The rooms are in really good condition, very spacious and the service is excellent in all areas of the resort. Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Love this resort !

We had a wonderful stay at Majestic Colonial . We stayed at Majestic Elegance last year so I was interested to see how the Colonial would compare as it is said to be lower budget . The colonial did not disappoint and I found it to be quite similar to Elegance maybe just a bit more dated. Everything was extremely clean and the staff were always very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate. I really enjoyed the food we generally ate at a La carte restaurants over the buffet . The steak a [... read more]t the rodeo grill is great and if you can get a reservation at Le Gourmet the beef fillet was amazingly delicious. We did room service pizza almost everyday for lunch and it was so good . The omelette and crepe stations in the morning for breakfast were always a hit. We did a swim up room and I don’t think I could ever do a resort another way after the experience . It was so convenient not to have to fight for a chair by the pool and to know we always had a shade spot . We stayed on the club side and had an amazing butler named Jacob , he truly went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience ! Will definitely be returning .

Serenade All Suites Adults Only Resort: Absolute Nightmare

We were genuinely shocked by the poor quality of this resort, especially considering its high ratings. While the weather and beaches were beautiful — truly the only redeeming part of our stay — the overall experience was frustrating, disappointing, and far below the standard expected from a supposedly top-tier destination. From the moment we arrived, the issues began. We didn’t get to our room until 12:30am, only to find we were given the wrong bed type, the AC wasn’t on, and the room was in  [... read more]unacceptable condition — dirty sheets, a wet bed, and a bathroom door that wouldn’t even close. Water from the shower leaked all the way out to the main door. We spent the next several days dealing with service failures. Staff were largely unhelpful and dismissive, and maintenance requests took hours or were outright ignored. We had to fight for a room change, which only came after showing “proof” of our complaints and involving multiple staff members. Housekeeping repeatedly failed to clean properly — towels were left on the floor, and surfaces were not cleaned. Room service was consistently terrible — food always arrived cold and tasteless. Despite informing them of pork and ham allergies, we were served dishes containing pork multiple times. Breakfast meats were mislabeled (ham labeled as turkey), and at one point we were served a pork dish after specifically ordering salmon. If someone had a life-threatening allergy, the consequences could have been severe. We were eventually offered a room upgrade and a beachside dinner to make up for the issues — but only in exchange for signing a form agreeing not to post negative feedback or take further action. When we asked about it, we were told we could still leave an “honest” review as long as we acknowledged the resort’s attempts to make things right. Seeing a stack of these forms at the front desk told us this wasn’t an isolated incident. The “romantic” dinner itself was another letdown. Due to high winds, everyone was moved to the terrace — where we sat near loud groups, including children. The food was once again terrible, and my wife even found a hair in her dish. The only mild positive was that the service that evening was better than usual. Across the rest of the resort, service was wildly inconsistent. Staff at many restaurants barely acknowledged us. Drinks like orange juice and soda tasted different every day — either flat, diluted, or just off. Meals ranged from cold and inedible (like the lamb at Gourmet) to undercooked and unsafe (a rare burger after requesting well done). To top it all off, housekeeping never showed up when we requested service, even after multiple hours. In conclusion, the food was a 4/10 at best, and the service was worse. A serious language barrier combined with a lack of care or attention from staff made this stay feel more like a chore than a vacation. If you’re someone who values good food, service, and attention to detail, this is not the place for you. The weather was perfect, and the beaches were beautiful — but that’s not nearly enough to make up for everything else. We won’t be returning, and we strongly caution others to look elsewhere.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: great experience

We really enjoy everything, was a magnificent experience from the beginning till the end. i will highly recommend it to my friends. staff were very kind and helpful i will suggest for the price to have gazebos on the beach area.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Lovely resort but has a problem withmold in the room

Everything was great except the room smelled musty on entry and the discovery of mold was very evident on our back packs after having them stored in the closet for two weeks. Staff was very welcoming and efficient

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Everything was perfect except for...

Almost everything was perfect. The pools, the beach, the food and especially the staff were all amazing. However, the rooms are in massive need of renovations. They are tired and do not do justice to the rest of the resort. We unfortunately will not stay on the Adult side until the rooms are redone.

I was disappointed by this resort. The drinks seemed to be watered down. There were only two bars for the resort, the bar by the pool and one down at the beach restaurant. No beach or poolside waiter service. If you were not part of the elite group, then your beach was a good walk away. We were in a swim up suite. Most expensive rooms, but nothing in the room to sit on other than a bed. No table and chair. There was a frosted window right at the toilet. The A/C broke down while we were th [... read more]ere. The torrential downpour caused the pool to flood into the room. We had trouble getting our towels replaced. They would pick them up but not replace them. The A la cartes, were underwhelming. Very disappointing. I would not return to, or recommend this resort.
