We loved our stay at Melody Maker. We were treated like royalty. They catered to our every need.Very clean resort, the food was great and our room was very clean and stylish. The only thing we can complain about is that all the bars serving drinks would close at 12:00 am.Other then that it was a great stay at Melody Maker.

Seadust Cancun Beach Resort: Great staff just not enough of them!
Large, clean hotel with great rooms. Restaurants were good and no reservations needed. We only waited once for about 20 minutes for the Japanese one. The steak house was our favourite. The buffet had a good selection but bad set up and often had to wait for a table as it was busy. The crêperie boasts that it’s open 24 hours but really only accessible from 4pm to midnight. Bars were lacking staff, long waits especially by the pool. The poolside restaurant was good but long waits. Would [... read more]be better if they had burgers and hotdogs made ahead during busy times. Most staff were very friendly and helpful. No water bottles in our room until the last day. Kids waterpark looked fun for little ones but only 2 slides for older kids so our boys lost interest quickly. The teen zone had ping pong, board games and video games but was in a dark room and no activities for them so not very appealing. The pool side activities were lacking with minimal participation as a result. The beach was beautiful with great sand bottom and shallow so you can walk out quite a ways. It was red flagged all week for waves but that was fun for us. If you want a chair poolside you need to be out by 9 or 10am as they fill up quickly. The evening shows were ok, circus show was our favourite.

The Sens Cancun: Couldn't pay me to stay here again
I am not a wordly traveler, but I have been to Cuba 3 times, Jamaica twice, and Mexico before. This was by far the worst place I have stayed. Starting with the front desk on my arrival I was disappointed. Having arrived late due to weather, I was expecting that my sister would already be registered. she flew from Toronto. The girl could careless that I was upsetand worried. Check in was swift, this is when I found out about all the spots which were not included in my "All Inclusive " pa[... read more]ckage. There was even an extra fee for the room safe. The hotel and room were dated to say the least. It did seem clean. We woke in the middle of the night to a flooded bathroom, the toilet was leaking. Which they did fix quickly when we called. The food tasted fine, but everything was constantly cold at the buffet. If you wanted to eat in the a la cart restaurant, you could only make reservations at 4 on the day of. Ive never stayed in a place were you didnt make all your reservations at once. Alcohol was bottom shelf, you could pay extra for better wine. Why when you've already paid alot to be there. When it rained the ceilings leaked. which made it unsafe to walk in certain areas. The only redeemable quality about the place, were the people (besides the desk clerk) the servers, cleaning staff, bartenders, gardeners, were all very friendly and hard working. I would never go back though

Grand Oasis Sens: Has potential but poorly run
I really don't want to be writing this as I hate writing reviews like this. Here goes, the rooms, just wow, the smell was unbearable and everything leaked including shower taps that sprayed the entire shower room. Sink facets leaked, toilet constantly ran. Room has mold and mildew, I know this for a fact as mold is my only allergy and they won't not let us switch rooms so I was wheezing and coughing the whole 7 days. Next, all inclusive??? Far from, seems like everywhere my partner and I ended u[... read more]p that was less party and more relax (cigar lounge, the box) there was always something we needed to pay for or wasn't included in our stay. Room service was an additional charge too. We felt so restricted on our vacation. Restaurants were either closed or impossible to get into. Always line ups and waits..who wants to sit in a line up every time they feel like eating while on vacation!? They say to recycle the drink cups but instead the collect them and REUSE them after rinsing them with ONLY water. Let's just say I came home from vacation with my very first lip blister thanks to this place. Everyone we talked to also complained about everything I've mentioned thus far but mainly the rooms and poor service as the resort is incredibly understaffed. The restaurant and bar near the secret pool was always closed, the Maki taco restaurant was also never open. If you like slow service, broken and dirty everything, bad smells and very little to eat on your vacation then this place is perfect. To top it off the alcohol tasted like gasoline and burns your eyes if you try to take a sip. If you can drink it, you'll definitely get drunk but consuming it is the challenge. Good thing I like beer. Oh that reminds me, mini bar in your room consists of only two beers that are pry off and don't supply you with a bottle opener to even drink your two beers. The staff were nice, some were able to help and some just couldn't wait to go home. Pretty sure we could have made a palm tree with all the tree debry at the bottom of the pool. Pavement is very uneven so be careful when you walk. I feel horrible writing this and don't want to but I dont get much time to take vacations and can rarely afford to so this was more upsetting than anything. I couldn't even be mad because I was just so disappointed. This resort has great potential and a wonderful theme but failed to execute it's true purpose. My partner and I are very easy going people and always look for the positives in everything but we were disappointed and came home feeling everything but relaxed and refreshed. I really hope they put money towards the rooms and rest of the resort as it has the potential to be amazing! The food at the box and sunset restaurant were amazing and very well done!! Highlight of the trip! Food was delicious when received.

Grand Oasis Palm: Great Time!
We travelled as a group with 8 adults and 3 children (4,3 and 2)
This was our 4th consecutive trip as a group. 3rd time to Mexico but first time to Cancun. This resort was amazing for children and families! We loved that some many are snack bars and food restaurants were open all day. The staff were so good with our kids, very helpful and patient. There is so much for kids of all ages to do at this resort. My 4yr old and 3yr old loved the balloon animal maker!!
The resort is clean, the food is good and we noticed while walking the beach that our beach was well kept compared to others.
I would definitely reccommend this resort to other families.
Thanks for the great memories!

Golden Parnassus Resort & Spa: Amazing vacation!
Just returned from the Golden Parnassus on Saturday. The resort is lovely. Everything within a few minute walk. The food was very good. The Old Barn restaurant was by far our favourite. We ate there 3 times with the charming Fernando as our waiter. Had fun at the Dolphin Bar. Jesus was a lot of fun. Our room was a delux ocean view. Well worth the few extra dollars. Amazing view of the ocean from the 4th floor. We celebrated my husbands birthday and our anniversary in the same week. Management le[... read more]ft us the most wonderful piece of cake and a bottle of bubbly and chocolate for our anniversary. Was very much appreciated 💖💖. There are not too many resorts we would go back to but this is definitely one of them. Room was kept spotless by maid. No issues at all. Tiki bar is the place to go in the evening. Did not see any of the shows so cannot comment on this. Thank you Golden Parnassus for a wonderful vacation!

NYX Hotel Cancun: Intimate and good value in Cancùn
Our stay at the Nyx is a preview for a further holiday in April. So we were looking for a good value, no frill and easily accessible hotel. That is exactly what we got at the Nyx. Beside on or two people, the service was excellent. Gabriella and Jimmy at the beach or Alvea at the front desk for example. Be aware that some people barely speak English. But the will to help you is there anyway. The food is good most of the time. The squids are to die for. We read good things about the Chianti. Wel[... read more]l, no luck for us the service at the table was junior to say the least and the food better at the main restaurant. We did not use the second night we were entitled. Cancun beach is beautiful, the sea was agitated but we had fun with that. Be careful if there is a red flag, we saw a woman rescued. It was professional rescue, it is reassuring. There was not that much seaweed. The pool is not that big but clean and sufficient. Enough animation for people who want day fun but no real partying at night. Who cares, you're in Cancun. Go to Coco Bongo or other places if you feel that need. Be aware that rooms on the lagoon side are noisy, in the morning specially. You might want to invest a little more to be on the ocean side. We begun at 102 and changed at 551 where we had an amazing view. All in all, a very good stay. Final words for Haley Ellerbeck from Tripcentral.ca who was a sweetheart right from the start.

Moon Palace Cancun: Amazing Resort
We stayed at the Grand Moon Palace in the first week of February and had the best time yet of all the resorts we have tried.
The grounds were well kept, the walkways excellent, the golf cart bus service was exceptional. You didn’t have to walk anywhere. The quality of the food was above average to excellent and the choice of restaurants was too large to experience them all in one week. The service staff were always friendly and very hard working.

Melody Maker Cancun: Our interpretation of Heaven
First and foremost we would like to thank Michelle Turco at Trip Central for guiding us in the right direction. We were thinking of going to Cuba, Jamaica, Dominican, Bahamas, Barbados and Mexico. My wife and I did our research for a month or so on these destinations and our needs. Based on our research and Michelle's knowledge we choose the Melody Maker in Cancun, Mexico. Just like my title suggest, it was heaven. The weather could not have been better, High 80's with a nice breeze. The ocean w[... read more]as crystal clear, the beach had white sand, which was groomed every morning. The workers at the resort were always pleasant. They were constantly cleaning, manicuring all the gardens, several security guards monitoring the grounds and several lifeguards on duty every day.The food was amazing, many choices, breakfast for me, was the best. Although everyone was pleasant, a special shoutout to Jonathan at the pool side bar, Abraham at the booth for excursions, and the gentleman who helped us check in, also the two girls at the "buffet" reception desk, always a friendly greeting. We are already planning to return. I've read some posts about The Melody Maker that were not always positive and yes we had some issues. For instance our fridge wasn't stocked on a couple of occasions, the doors leading to the rooms slam shut and they had light construction going on to improve the resort, "big whippy ding dong", it is a 5-star resort in our our opinion, and everything does not go as planned, people need to relax "roll with punches" as we did. Bottom line, the food, music, beach, sand ,water, drinks, safety, room (and view from it),hotel personnel, were all top notch and you can't ask for anything more. It met and exceeded our expectations and will return.

NYX Hotel Cancun: It's only OK.
2 weeks. Late January/early February 2019
My wife and I chose this hotel on Isla Cancun after eliminating the Mayan Riviera area (near Playa del Carmen) because of large amounts of Sargasso sea-weed in the ocean and on the beach there recently. We looked for a clean hotel, comfortable beds, good food, swimmable ocean and/or good boogie-boarding and a beach that's good for walking.
What We Liked:
White sand beach.
Clear water/beautiful blue colour.
Clean and bug-free.
Comfortable beds[... read more].
What We Didn't Like:
Weather - (Not the hotel's fault) Two days of torrential rain to start, with trips outdoors necessary to get from place to place within the site. Even with an umbrella, impossible to remain dry. Cool and windy.
Hotel - Smaller, older hotel with renovated rooms. 8 small towers, some without elevators. Rooms facing the very close lagoon/road are very noisy from heavy traffic. Air conditioning cannot be adjusted - only on or off. Rooms are modern, but impractical for a beach holiday, with no hooks or towel bars. Closed windows allowed blowing rain in, to soak floors. Unsuitable for mobility-impaired because of many stairs to move through resort.
Beach - Most of our time there the water and beach was covered in sea-weed. It was too rough to swim in the ocean, but poor waves for boogie-boarding. It's steeply sloped, so it's not great for walking on the wet part and very difficult to walk on the flatter dry part. It's wide and white sand.
Food/Water - Hotel only supplies 1 litre of water per room per day. They will give you more at the bars. Can't drink the tap water (in 2019!). Both of us got food poisoning while here, for about 3 days each. Breakfast in only one restaurant - buffet. Coffee was from 2 Nescafe machines (other 2 broken); was poor quality with often long line-ups. Lunch in only one different restaurant or on beach - only very slow ordered food, no buffet, with constant heavy BBQ wood smoke swirling around the tables. Dinner served at lunch restaurant - ordered and buffet, or at very good ordered-food Chianti restaurant (limited visits, by reservation). Generally pretty good food.
Staff - Great service from Gustavo, Luis, Carla and Norma. Not really "all-inclusive" because many staff get surly and uncooperative if they don't constantly receive the tips they think they should get.

Riu Palace Las Americas: Beautiful, clean and friendly resort!!!
This is my 5th Riu hotel I have stayed at but this adult’s only resort is by far the best! The hotel itself is very clean and all the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and professional. The Buffett food is great- I don’t know what people expect from buffet but you must keep in mind that they do get repetitive but was great. I actually had salads and fresh veggies and thankfully enough I did not get sick. The black and white steak house was the best and their lobster was delishhhhh!!! Nig[... read more]ht entertainment was ok but ended by 11pm , however , we would walk to the Riu Cancun next door and hi to the hotel disco with cover and drinks already included ! The beach was clean and able to see your feet! The left side of the beach is better for swimmimg. If you want to get away from kids this is the place- ADULTS ONLY!!! Also the location is super!! You can walk out of the hotel and safely walk on the streets filled with souvenir shops, malls, restaurants , clubs and a huge supermarket. It is very safe to take their public bus for 12 pesos !! This is our fourth trip to Cancun and we feel very safe walking on the streets and taking their bus. I would highly recommend this resort!

Occidental Costa Cancun: Nice 4-star family oriented resort
The resort was nice - very clean, and the grounds were lovely. The staff were always friendly, and the buffet food was good with fresh salads, fruit, breads and various meat dishes served daily. I would have liked more Mexican food at the buffet, such as - nachos, salsa and guacamole, but I only had that once in the Mexican restaurant. They served nachos sometimes at the buffet, but no salsa or guacamole. We tried each of the 3 restaurants, and really enjoyed the seafood one the best.
We [... read more]liked that the beach chairs were located under a grove of palm trees. The swimming area was okay, but it was located right next to where all the large tourist boats were coming and going, and that combined with the noise/smell of seadoos and other watercraft made it a bit too busy for us. We would have preferred a quieter beach.
We enjoyed the shows they put on every night from 9-10 p.m., and also the piano entertainment in the hotel lobby.
I've always loved the frozen margaritas in Mexico, but this time it was hit 'n miss - the best ones I had were at the beach bar and seafood restaurant. I gave up after a few bad drinks and just had the white wine which was pretty good.
All-in-all, we enjoyed our stay, but will not return to this particular hotel because the beach area was too noisy.
