Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Amazing Resort after check-in

We had a very unfortunate interaction with staff during checkin that got the vacation off to a bad start. After that, all I can say is that the Dreams Royal Beach Resort in Punta Cana is A-1! The rooms were beautiful and clean. The beach was lovely with tons of seating. The restaurants were some of the best we’ve ever been to and we cannot say enough about the incredible staff. So pleasant and always making sure we were looked after! Thank you Dreams (except during checkin)!

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Excellent Resort!

This was our second time at the Majestic Mirage and we loved it even more than the first time. The food was awesome and lots to choose from. The a la carte's were perfection. The service is impeccable including our wonderful butler Alexander at the Mirage Club. The rooms were spacious and clean. We had the swim up room, it's a must have! Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Never Again Resort!

Let me first say, our travel agent is and always will be our go to person. This resort was our choice. There were six of us, hoping to visit this resort thinking.. WOW, it is going to be the awsome. Friends, family, new friends added a positive to our trip. Arriving April 12th, we moved rice. First room AC was not working. Second room..after complaining of the toilet leaking at the water shutoff valve..wrnhad lakes every day. Talked to the same people from the front desk, maintenence (who l [... read more]aughed at us) God forbid a woman knows about plumbing. Saturday to Thursday we put up with a room soaked with water. It was Thursday afternoon we were moved to our third room. Food..average, drinks..plenty to forget about the rooms. Staff, depends where you were in the resort and what color braclet you wore. Be your own judge.We will never go back. I rate this resort a 2

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Relaxing

The pool was great and lots of chairs. Most of the time we could get some. Beach was awesome and close. We like how pool and beach were close to rooms. Buffet was Ok, decent variety. Close restaurants were ok but all similar. We were expecting all inclusive but some restaurants charged for a reservation. Make sure you take an adapter for the AC outlets as they do not accept 3 prong plugs. Rooms had the typical smell. Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: great resort

the grounds are beautiful and well kept, however we were not impressed by the room. It need some care... especially the bath room. Every time you use the shower, lots of water spilled on the floor, making getting out of the tub very unsafe. just a half sheet of partition provide. the soaker tub was unusable, it drain could not be plugged, to be filled. The shower heads were not good at all, sprayed water every where with too much force. Even the hand held hose was not good. Playabachata Hotel: Horrible rooms & service

Playabachata Service Upon arrival we waited an hour and 20 mins in line to check in. The front desk person working our line was serving the same group of people for that whole time. The group of people started off as 2 but kept growing as their friends and or family kept showing up. They spoke Spanish the whole time but from what I could see they were not checking in they were making other arrangements with her & seem to spending a lot of time joking & laughing as we waited in line. The wait w [... read more]ould have been longer if I had not noticed a front desk person who was quietly working on the far side of the desk assisting people only if approached she otherwise made no effort to assist anyone in line. When I did approach her she looked annoyed that I asked for her assistance to check in. No smile, no apology for the long wait. Our room wasn’t ready so we were given our wristbands & told to come back in half hour & directed the other side of the desk for room key pick up. When we came back we were greeted by a delightful friendly face finally. I can’t remember his name maybe Fernando? During the rest of our trip the front desk staff warmed up a bit. I actually got a few smiles. But only because I had to be extra charming when I asked for their assistance with anything. Accommodations Immediate smell of mould & mildew. First thing we noticed was how dated the room was. If looked like it hadn’t been renovated since the 70’s. Not a picture on the wall & weird light switches. We learned that one of the switches by the front door controlled the power for the whole room. The AC was set at a minimum setting & no matter what we did that didn’t change so the nights were hot for sleeping. Next thing we noticed was ants lots of them. We had to put our luggage up high & zipped closed to keep them from getting to there & hang what we could. The only place we didn’t see them right away was the washroom. But by the time we came back to our room in the evening the ants were also in the shower & all over our toiletries. We had to rinse everything to get the ants off and then re-pack it all & put it up high on towel racks & zipped up in the baggies we had. Our light in the washroom only worked the first night after that we had to take our phone to the washrooms & use the flashlight at night. Our toilet has a weird something at the bottom & rust. We were afraid to take a shower it was definitely not clean. Our mini fridge worked but was old and rusted.There were holes in our blackout curtains & dirt on our bed sheet skirt. We like many guests were in the lobby in the morning to try to find an outlet to charge our phones since there was only 1 normal outlet in the room & it didn’t work. Most of the outlets in the lobby also didn’t work. Thankfully we met Genaro at guest services who let us know that there were adapters available at the front desk. You have to pay a $3 deposit but it was worth it. We didn’t pack any lotion or body wash knowing it was a standard that hotels/resorts provide but all we got was a very small bar of soap. Food The food was ok. Not great, not good but ok. I got up early & waited in a line for an hour to make reservations for the steak house for our last night which was my birthday. The food at the steak house wasn’t any better. We waited over 30 minutes for them to take our dessert order & then 20 minutes to recieve it. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. I mentioned we were there for a birthday celebration. We were told we need to tell them that ahead of time. It would have went a long way if they just said “happy birthday” Beach Current is strong can’t really swim. There is also a big batch of sea weeds that you need to climb over. Pool Pool was nice but always so busy hard to find a chair or spot. Location It is far from the airport so a bit of a milk run to get back & forth. We had to upgrade on the way back because the bus got to the airport so late that I was afraid we’d miss our flight.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Beautiful resort!

Majestic Elegance is really beautiful. The resort and beach are super clean. The rooms are nice and large. It's a large place but most restaurants are in a general location and easily reached. Multiple bars to choose from at various locations. The staff really makes the place the best.

Impressive Punta Cana: Very Good Value

We were led to believe the resort was recently renovated. It may have been but the areas of the resort we had access to have not been renovated for quite a while. There are far too many restaurants, bars, pools, beach area, etc... that you do not have access to unless you are Impressive Premium. It is a good resort and the staff were amazing but it is a 3.5 star if you take the overall experience into account.

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Quiet resort

If you are looking to really relax Vik hotel is an excellent option. It was clean and the main pool was very nice. Food was decent enough and the drinks were good. There was not much entertainment nor Latin music by the pool. All in all a nice relaxing vacation.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Never go back again

I’m gonna be writing a formal complaint or sliding door fell off almost squished my partner the bathroom window fell out. The ceiling was leaking in front of the safe.. the bathroom leaked water all underneath the sink and all over the floor and countertop. The first room we were put in was full of mould on the second room we got had all those issues and others. It was very unpleasant made multiple complaints plus tried to meet our Sunwing advisor on three separate occasions and he never showed  [... read more]up once I like to be confident somehow for this vacation as it was one of the worst vacations I’ve ever had in my life

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Clean and Cozy!

We wanted something low-key and relaxing, and Blue Bay was just that. From the very accomodating staff, to the delicious and varied food, and clean grounds, we could not have asked for more. Even though it rained most of the time we were there, we made the most of our weather app and made do with what sunshine we did have. The a la cart food was delicious and varied, but we even found the buffet to be fresh and varied too. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind, stay here! And if you have any issues, the staff at Blue Bay will go out of their way to make sure you are happy! We will definitely go back to this resort!

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Just ok

We had the swim out room which was quite nice. Nothing fancy but it was clean and cozy. Most of the time when we used the swim out pool it was just us in there. We could see the beach from our room. Some of the staff were very nice and some seemed bothered to serve you. Lots of pressure to go to the “90 minute” (it ran longer than that) sales pitch to become a member of the Elite Collection. We wasted 2 hours listening to the deal and at the end, the deal closer was with us for all of 5 minutes, at most and he had the nerve to tell us we wasted his time. We didn’t even want to be there (and made that clear to the person who signed us up) and we wasted far more time than he did. Straight up rude. The beach is nice and sandy no rocks or seaweed. My only complaint would be the people who try to sell you things (beach towels, souvenirs, braids, pedicures…) they’re very pushy and annoying when you’re just trying to relax, and no one wants to tell you the price of anything until after the service is complete either. The worst part about them is that they have permits to be there and the resort allows them to sell to their guests. As for the resort, most of it was great, with the exception of the arcade, casino and night club. They were all completely empty. Milwaukee bar smells funny, otherwise it was a decent atmosphere to play pool and cards when it rained. Personally I enjoyed the food. I was able to find items that I enjoyed at the buffet, the beach bar and each of the restaurants. There was a pop up sales table by the buffet one night. Again, so pushy with the sales. I wanted 2 bracelets that were very basic (1 string with beads on each of them) and a ring. He said 7500 pesos. 170 CAD. I later found the identical ring in the shop at the resort for $35 and similar bracelets 3 for $5. Personally I would not go back to this resort, there is better out there.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Nice Resort

Very nice resort, grounds, buildings and rooms beautiful. Food selection excellent, specialty restaurants very good and service excellent. Pools Nice and could always get a chair/lounger. Bar service at all bars excellent. Only problem - smokers everywhere, but we already read this online, and new what to expect. Most smokers rude (blocking entrances etc). With a large number of french canadian's and europeans present, you could expect to see alot of smokers.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Not impressed

The resort itself is outdated in a whole. Electrical outlets are sketchy and loose and not fitting correctly. The staff seemed unhappy in their jobs. No smiles most of the time. The time share people were hounds and were not happy if you didn't go to their 2 hour session. Most of the staff while working were on their phones if they were not helping? someone. You leave your table to get 2nds and come back with your table already cleared. I found the staff very unaccomidating. No willingness to make a person feel welcome at all. Would not go back and will not recommend this resort

Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Amazing time at a fantastic resort

Simply put, the resort is beautiful. It is well laid out, just over a year old with nice modern touches, fantastic pools and a great beach. There are plenty of bars throughout the resort to keep you hydrated and lots of places to keep your belly filled! And the staff are all super attentive and polite. We're hoping to go back next year!

Secrets Royal Beach: This hidden gem is a 10/10!

We had a great stay at this resort. Amazing food at the buffet and a la carte restaurants. Staff are wonderful! We will definitely go back! The beach is beautiful and the service is awesome. The rooms were great and the resort was clean and very well kept. The entertainment was top notch and worth seeing every night. I can’t wait to visit this resort again.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great place

This was our first tome at this resort but will not be our last. The resort was a great place. Everything was clean and well kept, the service from the staff is amazing, food was amazing and the beach and pools were great. This was not an overly party resort which we liked. If I HAD to nitpick the only complaint was that some of the buffet food was not labeled. Aside from that everything was really great

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: 99% of the Staff are Awesome

I have been to many properties in Punta Cana, but this hotel was one I had not visited yet. Most of the staff are awesome, and the food was definitely good. I prefer smaller hotels, so I would not return to this property. It is really four different resorts in one, making it HUGE. My biggest complaint is the loud shouting and music around the main pool. We were on a couple's getaway, looking for a quieter atmosphere.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: 3.5 Star at best…,

Disappointed with this resort. Food was boring and pretty much the same every day at the buffet… the a la cartes take food from the buffet.. then try and sell you over priced bottles of wine… when we declined and just asked for house wine at 2 of the a la cartes we were not served any wine at all..customer service depended on how much you tipped…pool was disgusting between the hair and bird poop…we will not be going back unfortunately..:

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Good resort

Overall, the resort is nice Everything is easy accessible. However, the nightlife is lacking. The shows are not very good. The entertainment in the pools is almost nonexistent. However, the water aerobics is a lot of fun. The music is in one area so unless you take a speaker there’s nothing. This is not a resort for people with children or young adults. Just nothing for them. Was raining a fair bit the week we were there. The roofs were leaking in our rooms not nearly enough umbrellas!! . staye [... read more]d in the adult only building 6 beds are rock hard quite nice and presentation tho. With house coats and slippers.rooms hadGreat air conditioning. Wifi is spotty unless you’re in the VIP lounge. VIP lobby was amazing!! Drinks were good in the VIP we definitely loved the coffee machine. buffet was good Especially the pasta /omeletteguy . Bacon is only served every second day. Did have a problem in snack bar with somebody cooking raw chicken beside other food and touching it with raw chicken fingers. So if you’re eating here be cautious just watch as their heating your food they do it right in front of you. We did all of the à la carts they were all good just took way too long. Two hours plus each sitting so if you wanna get into these make sure you’re there at a 6:10 or you’re not getting in. For 6:30 opening In the sports lounge, it’s very hard to get tokens for pool tables. The machine is very finicky . The beach is nice in front of the hotel, however, as soon as you walk 10 feet away. It’s all trash and lots of glass. Not very well maintained it had a fair bit of seaweed. Didn’t see anybody out maintaining it the whole week. But for the value, it was good. I would suggest anybody going spend the money and go adults only. Or VIP.
