Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Amazing resort
We were there March 26 to April 2 and I miss it already. Everything was great the staff very friendly, the grounds are well kept, the beach is the most beautiful one we have seen so far and food was good we always had plenty. We had made a request prior to going to be in building 1or 2 and we were in building 1 and Thank You si much for granting us that. The ice man Orlando does an amazing show and Merlyse waitress at the buffet is amazing. Joel was also great waiter. The animation team works r[... read more]eally hard and they are amazing. We will be returning to this resort.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: hotel santa maria was in desperate need of updateing and repair
the grounds were lovely and well maintained, beach was beautiful, people very friendly but when it came to getting service for things like changing rooms booze in room what was part of the package they kept making excuses and never followed through. we were suppose to have a bus boy or porter on our floor to book excursions, and alacartes. our porter had to be continually chased down and we often had to book with our friends porter on the floor above us, the pool was lovely. entertainment great.[... read more] food was satisfactory.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Not too bad for the price
Memories resort was ok. Grounds were kept up well, pools were real nice, if you didn't like one, just move to the next one. Not a good resort if your out of shape or have bad knees. A lot of climbing stairs from the bottom pool to the main lobby and buffet. Service was very friendly all over the resort except for the front desk. They always made you feel like you were bothering them, instead of them wanting to help resolve your issue. Front desk was like that pretty much all week. It's Cuba, so [... read more]buffet quality is ok, you wont starve to death, but make sure you get there earlier than later for all three meals, or else you might be forced to eat stuff out of necessity as apposed to what you actually want. Beach was nice if your not looking for a good snorkeling experience. Not many things to see under the water except one or two straggling fish and lots of sea weed. I noticed quite a few large spiky sea urchins out in the sea weed sections, so you might want to be carful if you venture out into the seaweed in your bare feet. Snack Bar was a joke, we missed lunch one day and headed to snack bar for a bite. When I asked for a menu, the waitress said we only have hamburgers and hotdogs, with no fries and no buns! I got a round "mystery meat" patty with a few slices of tomato and cucumber on the side. I could have lived with that, except I had to spit out every third bite because there was so much cartilage in the "meat". Personally I think the resort is ok, but definitely spread out over too big of an area.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Good.. for the first few days
My two girlfriends and I just returned from a 7 day vacation to grand memories. We went without toilet paper(used baby wipes) and water bottles for about 3 days. The only way we were able to get a bottle of water was because I had to BUY it at the gift shop. The food is decent but you're basically dreaming of something that has taste or flavour. The only thing that saved this resort from getting a 1 star was the beach. Staff were greedy and expected tips constantly. Staff also harassed my friend[... read more]s and I as we are young girls. Good thing we focused on the good not the bad. But we won’t be back.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Great Family Resort
Punta Cana - Grand Memories Splash Resort is a great place for families with kids. I was pleasantly surprised how everything was organized. Nothing was missed or forgotten. All activities were well planned - date changes, pickup location, activities, and returning back.
We were Diamond Club Members and, from this perspective, everything was taken care with extra attention but, in all honesty, I cannot tell I saw big differences between us and regular members. A cheap bottle of liquor or wine a[... read more]s welcome, a butler that couldn't be reached on the phone (but he was available every morning at the buffet), the Diamond Club upgraded room looked pretty regular for us, and some extra benefit we didn't took advantages, couldn't convince us worth the price. Maybe is us as we are moderate people when is about drinks and food. After all how much can you drink and eat? However, we saw some people...
Anyway, the resort looks really nice with its lush green tropical vegetation and palm trees. Wild birds and peacocks all over. It is really nice to see the birds walking in the vegetation. The resort is great for walks and can be covered in 20 minutes from one side to the other. Extra 10 minutes to walk to the adjacent resort - Majestic where is the beach assigned to Memories Splash Resort. Maybe the big difference between Regular and Diamond members is here. The Diamond Club beach is bigger, the open bar is great for drinks and snacks. In opposite, the Regular beach is smaller even the Regular clients are more numerous. When we visited it was packed with no more empty long chairs to be used. I would be concerned as Regular member about beach spots availability in the morning, especially if you want to go every day on the beach. But in evenings there is plenty of room and we found after 5pm is the best to go there as the sun is not strong.
Here, the beach is fabulous with clear water and light yellow sand. What can I say- use the photo studio from Majestic to take professional pictures back home. If you negotiate hard the price with them you can go back home with great pictures from the beach.
Back to the resort, you have 2 big pools and 2 smaller ones - in surface, and a few more whirlpools. They are beautiful shaped with blue tiles and both they have wet bars. For kids, these pools are the way to enjoy the water as in the ocean you cannot swim. We used the pools more than the beach. Another fun you can have is on the fabulous Water Park. You can enjoy the great slides, the wave pool, and other mini pools. In the evening, you can go to the Social Plaza where you can enjoy drinks from the social bar, watch kids / family movies or see live shows. We saw Lion King live show and we enjoyed it. Our 7 years old kid enjoyed the time spent in the evening there. The show hours are daily displayed there, at the entrance, with the upcoming events - dance, karaoke, movies, shows... a great idea and place to spend the evenings before going to sleep.
Other activities can be done- jogging, tennis, ping pong, basketball .. so a bit for every taste.
The food is fabulous. I have read some reviews complaining about food but let me tell you from a pretentious European fancy food guy, the food is absolute great. The international buffet was much better than a-la-carte restaurants. What I have eaten in the Mexican restaurant, I found here as well. Only the Italian restaurant serves great pizza and pastas that you cannot find at the buffet, I didn't tried the Sea food restaurant, but I saw amazing choices of sea food here at the international buffet. The choices were amazing. Every day you can eat something different. They prepared daily amazing well known recipes, I didn't see something I didn't recognized. Everything was fresh, divers, and delicious. Fruits and cakes fresh and in excess. Just great for an all inclusive resort.
The service was great as well. Only the butler wasn't useful for us as we couldn't reach him by the phone. What's the logic to go and look for him if you need something? The same needs were fulfilled by people from reception or our Sunwing resort agent. We noticed from his notebook, he had many tourists in care so simple we didn't use his services. Other than this, people are polite and thankful for appreciative words and …tips.. a dollar here and there do wonders and makes you feel better. These people are hard workers. I saw same faces daily from 7AM to 10PM serving you and still with a smile on their faces. Learn a few Spanish words to make them lighten up their faces. They deserve it for sure. Angel- a restaurant server was our favorite. You'll find your room daily cleaned and sheet beds fresh. The lady that cleaned our room (I am sorry I didn't get her name) was very sweet and she did every day amazing origami figurines using the towels and putting fresh flowers. Our Sunwing resort agent - Danelly Anty was really helpful and ready to help us booking activities, with schedule change, or any questions we have had. She was available every day, approachable and very friendly. We got great information from her. Look for her by the side of the pool to book activities or ask anything.
Everybody is there for you to help with any request you may have. Very professional, simple a great service.
As a side note and complain, avoid resort workers that will lure you into free meals on Majestic , it's just a sale trap, either a time share or become Sunwing member. Just refuse politely when you hear about free meals at a 5 star hotel (all meals are free anyway in your resort) . This is a minimal hassle that should not be permitted (pushy souvenirs vendors as well) on the ground. But this doesn't change my mind to give a 4.5 starts out of 5. It's just a great family resort with everything you need for one week relaxation.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Cuban Retreat
This was our second trip to Cuba with the kids (11 & 9). Her are our thoughts:
Room:
* We were surprised by bunk beds, but they were great! Gave a small room a lot more space.
* The room itself was in need of a little repair and love, but really it was only a place to change and sleep. The bed was horrible, lumpy and springs left me tired in the morning, but nothing a lazy morning poolside or at the beach couldn't fix.
* We had trouble with the AC. The deck door had to be closed just so [... read more]in order to activate the AC. It took us 3 days to realize it, and it was REALLY sensitive. I couldn't get it to work ever. Hubby had more luck. It'd get bumped, then we'd have to start again.
Food:
* The buffet was fine. The fish was amazing. Noone goes to Cuba expecting amazing food, but we were happy.
* My daughter has Celiac. We brought our own bread, muffins and snacks for her. It was hard to get an answer as to whether food had wheat or not. We got by, she did ok on rice, chicken, veggies and fruit.
* We didn't go to the a la cartes, but heard nothing but excellent reviews!
Beach:
* Beautiful. Always a beach chair. Nothing bad to say!
Pools:
* The girls loved the pools. We discovered the Quiet pool later in our stay, it was GREAT! No loud music, dancing, aerobics, or anything,,, just a huge pool with lots of seating.
* The pools did get murky. Spilled drinks, plastic cups, etc. We saw them trying to clean it up, but seemed a lost cause. There was a dead bird one day. That was the last day we went in the activity pool. Ew. I mentioned it to staff, but it was a little kid was the one who took it out. Again, ew.
* We never had problems with swapping out our towels for the pool or the beach.
Staff:
* We asked for help with the AC, and they sent someone over within 10 minutes at 9pm to help.
* Rooms were always done up early. with fresh towels, the housekeeper was sweet.
* All staff were friendly and ready to help. When I thought I'd lost my camera and had a near panic attack, the girl cleaning the floors and one lady selling at a little stall with postcards both came running to help. (I found it, thank goodness!!)
* The Lobby Bar knew my coffee order every morning, and it was PERFECT!
* Bartenders got to know our drinks, and always had a smile!
Al in all a great value for the money.

Grand Memories Varadero: so so
Hotel was " dated"
rooms were very poor, need up grading.
Service in general was poor, some of the employees were actually rude which I have never found in Cuba before.
Main eating area was below average. entertainment was good, lots of seats.
Washroom in one bar had no toilet paper Beach was nice but too congested , Sanctuary area did
not look any better. Been to Cuba now 6 times, this was my least favourite.
Exchange bank although had extended hours was very poor , never en[... read more]ough change so we could use for tips. Many people complained about this, and very slow.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great resort.
This resort, although large, has the most gorgeous beach I have seen. Lots of chairs with lots of Palapas huts. A wide white beach with amazing clear water to swim in. As per expected, the food was not terrific. Lots of it with a huge buffet but often not terrific. Always carry tissues with you as the washrooms around the resort often did not have enough toilet paper. The nightly entertainment was incredible. Rooms were lovely but be sure to bring your own washcloth if you need one. Don’t expe[... read more]ct great water pressure in the showers either. Despite the failings we will probably return to this resort. It was beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Also close to the airport which to me is a bonus. A lovely spot.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: good and bad
We both loved the beautiful beach /the great service/the staff. It was a wonderfu experience.
We did not enjoy having to wait four hours to get our room after a very early start to the day.. It would be very helpful, if the rooms are not ready, to have a waiting space where we could have changed and made use of the hotel services. our first day never happened! Instead we sate in sweltering heat waiting.
The food quality varied enormously but it was more than made up for by the wonderful servi[... read more]ce.
Contrary to what was advertised tipping seemed to be a necessity.. We even had a driver demand a tip (which I refused to give on that occasion!)
Love Cuba
By the way HALIFAX is the ONLY SUNWING destination (apparently) where you can not confirm your bookings on the website.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great resort! Would definitely go back!
The Sanctuary section of Grand memories was beautiful, intimate with the right balance between quiet and activity. The grounds were lush and beautiful. The restaurant and service was excellent. Friendly staff. Plus the added bonus of access to all that the Grand Memories resort had to offer.
The beach and pool area were beautiful. Lots of sun chairs, however you did have to get up early to reserve a spot if you wanted shade.
Plenty of food with unlimited a la carte reservations and two a l[... read more]a carte options for lunch. We only ate the buffet twice, which was also good. My only criticism is that the service at the Italian restaurant was very poor and as a Sanctuary guest the finer wines at the Gormet restaurant should be included, or at least some of them.
The rooms were fine. We had a deluxe suite and the bed and pillows were the best we’ve had in Cuba!!
We would definitely go back!!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: AMAZING BEACH AND STAFF
This was our second time to the hotel. We stayed in building 3, it was clean and housekeeping and the fridge were done daily. We always had water and water pressure 90% of the time. The beach has doubled in size since a few years back. So there's no more Coral. It is stunning and a great place for sunsets and swimming. There's a few bars at the beach and some games. Foam party is Thursday mornings. A huge shout out to the entertainment team:Carlos! Victor! Landy! Brian! They were fun and engagin[... read more]g and cheers to Omar at the pool bar. The staff make the vacation way better. Thank you for being there. The nightly entertainment is above par. Been to approx 15 all inclusives and they have the best shows, don't miss any. The choreography is so great. Lighting on the resort could be improved. But they were improving path lighting when we were there. The shop on site had a wide variety of items, and there's a market 5 mins walk. 5 dollars for the bus to take you to a bigger market or Pilar Beach. We would return. Mm and try the rice at the buffet. The disco has been turned into a beautifully air conditioned sports bar, with fantastic service and drinks. They need to update their mattress.

Memories Paraiso: Not really happy
My wife was at this resort 5 years ago and said it was her favourite. This is why I booked it. I’ve never been to a resort before. We had no idea that the resort had been divided into 3 separate resorts. Our air conditioner was flooding out our area for the bathroom. We reported it the first day we were there. Maintenance arrived 3 days later. The food was horrible. It was the same menu everyday. My wife and I are hoping to go on another trip in April and another in November. Unfortunately I w[... read more]on’t be returning to Cayo Santa Maria again. It was way below standards. I heard a lot of good things about this resort. I was told the food was great but unfortunately the was the furthest thing from the truth. The day we were leaving we checked out of our rooms at 12. Put our luggage in the front storage and waited in the lobby for the bus to pick us up at 3pm. At 3pm our bus wasn’t there. At this point a notice was posted that our flight was delayed for 3 hours. So we sat in the lobby until 6 pm. At this point a Sunwing rep arrived at 615pm and told us our flight was again delayed another hour and a half. When we asked why he said he had no idea all he said was “it’s a airline issue ask them†he is with Sunwing is he not part of our airline? The bus picked us up at 740 pm. We sat in the lobby for over 7 and a half hours. We finally got to the airport and when we got on the plane the pilot said “sorry for the delay but we had to go to Montreal and back as this flight was double booked. It was a really bad way to spend my last day of holidays sitting in the lobby. Not to mention I had a ride home booked. I changed that at 3 pm then again at 6. All in all I enjoyed the pool the entertainment and the ocean. I’m looking to book a trip in April but not sure if I will use Sunwing again. I’d really like to hear back from someone on this
Thank you

Many kudos to all the great people at Memories Jibacoa. A terrific well honed team of professionals led by David the newest and best director general ever.
