Iberostar Waves Punta Cana: Wonderful Escape

I was at the Iberostar in January with my sister and returned in March with my husband so obviously enjoyed the whole gorgeous place. Flying from Hamilton and their proximity to the Punta Cana airport is a fabulous bonus.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: It was okay.

The grounds were lovely, the washrooms in all the buildings were immaculate. The restaurants I would rate as average. Not enough variety. The service in the restaurants was good and the staff were lovely. Room service, cleaning was also good, although we had to ask several times for towels and robes, which were supposed to be included in our room. The pools were lovely. The beach area at the water has lots of seaweed and lots of grass that you had to make your way around. Just gave a feeling of  [... read more]not being clean. Grand Palladium Palace: An amazing resort for anyone to go.

It's an amazing resort, the service is excellent the staff cannot ask for anything better, we had an amazing time. The grounds are amazing the beaches, the food is awesome, the entertainment was excellent.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: amazing family resort!!!

my family(husband/4 year old son) visited Sirenis Cocotal 7-14 Mar 15. This was our first vacation down south. Our only hiccup was checking in. We arrived at 11 that morning, however, our room wasn't ready until after 4. However, we made the best of it and spent the day at the beach and pool until it was ready. Our son had a great time at the pool/beach/waterpark. The staff was very friendly and Hilda, our cleaner was very nice and efficient. There was nightly entertainment and the only thing i would change about that was it was too late...we would have liked to take out son to see some of it but it didn't start until 930 every night and that was just too late for him. Would recommend taking a family there anytime...

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Excellent resort!!

We loved the resort, the service was above and beyond. We update to the select rooms and again the service and the people were amazing. Food was good, lots of choices. We would definitely choose this resort again.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Wonderful resort

Would highly recommend this resort. Excellent quality and variety of food. Very clean. Beaches are amazing. Staff are friendly and very professional. Entertainment including shows were absolutely fabulous.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Fantastic resort

Only disappointment was the italian restaurant,service was terrible, they had non-chalant attitude.we waited forty -five minutes between courses.we were served coffee but dessert was never brought,just left

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Wonderful clean Resort

My wife and our 17 and 18 year olds had a wonderful time and they made good use of the WIFI. TV in room also carried quite a few US station, so my wife was thrilled to watch Survivor.. Food Buffet was a bounty of choices (beef, pork, chicken, turkey, pasta, seafood, salads, etc... were top rate) and no stomach issues. We ate when we wanted at all hours and didn't get around to the four specialized restaurants that were also free. Even had the opportunity to play a few songs with one of the visiting bands in our adult resort section that made my time even more special..Our bartender at the TIkki bar named Remy made the very best specialized drinks that we've ever had and we felt great every morning. Met many fine folks from Sweden, UK, and few from the US as 90% were Canucks from all over from PEI to Calgary. A few we met have visited the resort over 12 years and said it was better than the Five stars. Friends of mine recommended the place after being there 9 times. The waters were very calm on this side of the island, safe to swim and wade around in the water, nothing to step on that would sting you, sand was clean and was very safe to walk in either direct of the resorts for a long .Pools and beach were clean and safe for the little ones as well.Sun was always at your back so it always nice looking out at the water. Plenty of shade if wanted and plenty of chairs too. Only went on the Dune buggy tour which was a dirty muddy messy blast, but later just chose to just hang around the resort and relax. The kids want to go back again next year! Seven days was not enough, wished I book for 10- 14 days. Only a 4 hour trip each way and 15 mins from the airport. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great Deal for Relaxing in the Sun!

The grounds and rooms were very clean and the food was great. The beach offered alot of natural cover which was very nice but the water was underlined with alot of rock...go to the far end for nicer swimming. Pool was great....and finally a resort that has enough chairs for all guests!

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Not Great

The Good - The grounds are wonderful, and some of the staff are excellent i.e. entertainment. The Bad - Many people including myself got seriously ill. The resort also hosted 400 hundred plus american college kids "student city", this was sold to me as a family resort. The time share guys were ultra aggressive and intimidating. This resort is closer to a 3 as opposed to a 4, and the brand Catalonia lost all credibility. Andre

Grand Palladium Palace: Beautiful Resort with great a la cart restaurants

We loved our loft room, the grounds are beautiful and well kept, restaurants are clean and most staff friendly, attentive and speak fairly good english. David, a waiter at the Buffets was amazing and very attentive. The food at the buffets could use some improving but was better than the buffets on our trip to Cuba. The a la carts were really good, the Japanese, Brazillian, Steak House and the Bamboo were my favorites. The beach is beautiful, the pools were very nice. Riu Merengue: Clean Resort

The resort was nice, clean and the staff friendly, the food was ok, plenty of choices. We took in two al la carts and the food was very good, the steak was delicious and the service was great. The entertainment was good, and the entertainers were nice, however one or two of them (I believe one of them was security) were rude and annoying and chased our young adult girls everywhere, we could not leave them alone. Biggest Problem......... we had issues with our room, the air conditioner did not work all week (thank god we had a fan on the ceiling), it overflowed twice, maintenance had to come and drain it after if flooded our room. Our toilet plugged up and our room was full of tiny ants, they were even in my clothing and suitcase. We went 2 days with NO hot water....our kids had two rooms across the hall from us and they did not have any issues with their room except not having hot water..... The last day we had a late flight and the hotel wanted us to pay extra to keep our room so we could shower before our flight. My husband fought that at the front desk and we ended up keeping the room free of charge. We made the best of it and had a nice warm sunny vacation, better than snow!!! Fair enough vacation for the price we paid.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great vacation

The hotel was nice, it was clean, not fancy rooms, but you are only in your room to sleep. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The nightly entertainment was good they get you involved in the dancing.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Was not as good as expected.

We have been there 4 times. This year they added club packages and if you don't upgrade to one of the clubs your needs will not be met. We arrived on Friday afternoon and on Saturday we couldn't get in to one of the restaurants unless we took 9 o'clock at night. We were very disappointed. So be prepared to upgrade or forget it.

Occidental Caribe: Not Impressed

- Started with a 6 hr delay in the flight to Punta Cana - The bed was so bad that we had to stuff pillows at our sides to stop us from rolling into the middle. We ended up sleeping on the bed sideways - Balcony door was broken and would not lock. We were on the second floor and used the room safe - Cold water cut out while taking a shower - Water was leaking from the light fixture in the bathroom above the sink - Alarm clock in the room had no power cord. I asked for one but it didn't come  [... read more] - Soap dish in shower was on a 45 deg angle. Broken - Ice machines were out of order ( 2 ) closest to our room - Elevator was on again off again. about 50 - 50 - My wife got ill the first night and spent 4 days and 3 nights in the Bavaro Hospital. ( no fault of the hotel ) - Staff at the Barcelo Punta Cana were 4 out of 5 - Doctor 5 out of 5 - Food 3 out of 5 - 2 out of 5 we return

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Second Time to Casa Marina Beach & Reef Resort

Just returned from the Casa Marina on March 7-2015, my husband and I were there for 1 week. We had stayed at the Casa Marina back in 2011 so this was our second time at this resort. We both found that the food variety was really lacking. We stayed in room 2512 and it was always clean, but the bathroom needed a "complete" make over. Tub/Shower was stained and needs replacing. The beds were comfortable but sheets and pillow cases were extremly old and need to be replaced. The location is good as y [... read more]ou can walk to many other pubs and resturants. We did not do any tours as we did all that back in 2011. We paid $835 per person for one week from Toronto.

The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana: Great for Families

We enjoyed this resort very much. The food was great (especially at The Grill), our room on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool (Master Suite) was perfect for our family of four. My kids (6 and 8) enjoyed the kids pool and playground at the Kids Zone. The best part was the comfortable beach and pool chairs and beds! The staff was attentive and kind. The only negative was when they try to get you to attend a 90 minute presentation to sell you on becoming a member of Club Melia!

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Fabulous Resort

Extremely clean resort. Service was impeccable. Whatever you need they comply. Grounds were Beautiful, clean and enjoyable. Pool area very nice, entertainment was allot fun. The whole Team at Grand Bahia was Fantastic! Food, you will never starve here, it was incredible and very tasty! A must stay and will go back.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Good resort. Great atmosphere.

We enjoyed our stay at the resort. Very friendly people and great food and entertainment. Rooms were dated but clean. Problems with water pressure and temperature. Also safe broke and had to be drilled to get our items out. Workers were great especially Marie in the lobby bathroom.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Wonderful adults section

Everything was great about the resort, all staff was very friendly, always smiling. The grounds are kept very clean. Parents bit of seaweed on the beach each morning but they were out cleaning. A little disappointed with air transit.
