My girlfriend and I spent a week here at the Platinum Yucatan Princess and had the most incredible time. The resort was amazing: beautiful, fun, and friendly. Our junior deluxe room was awesome. It was spacious, clean, and with a gorgeous view. We enjoyed the buffet (especially during breakfast) and made it to the Bruschetta and Rodeo Grill twice each. Loved both restaurants. We definitely enjoyed the 24 hour room service and made use of the food menu most nights. One of our favourite parts was [... read more]the live music and theatre each night! We had access to the family resort and all their pools, restaurants, bars, etc, which was a quick 2 minute walk from our resort, and found their beaches much more swimmable (due to seaweed at ours). We had no issues walking down to the other beaches for swimming and still enjoyed sitting by the water at ours, especially in the later evenings. One of the highlights would certainly be the amazing and friendly service we experienced. Christopher checked us in and checked us out, he was so kind, very friendly, and made sure we were taken care of. David did a phenomenal job taking our photos and was a pleasure to talk to. Our massage was also great, would definitely recommend visiting the spa! The pools were another highlight, the poolside service was great and the pools themselves were gorgeous. There were so many private pools to relax in and the party pool was a blast. Overall an incredible trip, an amazing resort, no negative surprises from what we had expected and researched, but far exceeded our expectations.

Riu Latino: Short trip great hotel
The food was amazing. The place was clean. There was a club on site. The waterpark was ok. The beaches had some seaweed but if you get pass the shore it's not so bad. The gift shop was pricey. A little far from Cancun.

Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres: Secrets Playa Blanca, Costa Mujeres
This hotel is top notch, a true 5 star plus. Management is on top of everything. You are frequently asked how is your stay going so far. Could we do something special for you.
The food in the a la carte restaurants is above average including Market Cafe. Two Fiesta evenings was a welcome change. Entertainment was provided while we ate.
Rendez-Vous outdoor lounge provides early entertainment for those who wish to retreat to their rooms by 9 pm. This was our evening highlight.
I woul[... read more]d personally rate Secrets Blanca slightly higher than Secrets Moche
Impression in Playa Del Carmen over all.

The only night was the Asian night which was horrible for me anyways

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Nice resort but slightly disappointed
The resort itself was very nice, however due to the unfortunate event with the fire prior to our arrival, it was quite disorganized. We understand the difficulties they were dealing with, but prior to our arrival we were promised full access to Akumal and Tulum resorts as compensation for the facilities that weren't available to us at Coba. However, upon arrival we were informed that they were no longer giving Coba guests full access bracelets due to the main buffet being functional. The buffet f[... read more]ood was very good, but that left us with the option of only having 1-2 A La carte restaurants, which were all completely booked up. We were also not informed of the App that we were supposed to use to book reservations and see the daily events.
The room at the resort was very nice, very spacious and the king size bed was nice to have. Housekeeping was good (after we were able to discover that we needed to request through the app).
The evening shows at Coba were very well done. We wish we would have known about the hacienda having events (live music, shows) earlier in our stay, but overall very enjoyable entertainment.
At the resorts current state, unfortunately I would not recommend it to a friend. There is no appropriate compensation for the Coba guests to really feel you are getting what you paid for. Along with the fire renovations, they are doing extensive renos to villas in the resort, thus making it a loud and busy atmosphere (we understand it has to be done but we feel we should not have to pay full price).
We still enjoyed our trip, there was just a few frustrations.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Wonderful Staff
Just returned from a week at the Catalonia Playa Maroma. My friend and I had never been to this resort and wanted to try it since we know it's on a beautiful beach. The sargussum was bad but we still managed to get in the water.
The food was really good at all the restaurants and buffet. Big shout out to the amazing staff...Adrian, Claudia, Gabriella, Daniel, and Matuselan..always ready to assist.
My friend uses a cane and has difficulty walking long distances so we weren't able to walk[... read more] up to the lobby/buffet everyday so we ate at the a la carts. It was unfortunate that on the day we left there was no service available to pick us and our luggage up at our room before 7am.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Decent Stay
This property is great for young families as they have a lot of options for kids & the water rides are something the kids enjoyed to the core. The services by the staff were excellent. The bummer points were the access to the beach as too much weed accumulation created a lot of smell around the area. Secondly, the room we were allotted had a lot of mosquitoes that created allergies on our skins but the staff was kind to clean & free the room from the bugs & insects. Overall, a decent deal & was [... read more]worth the price we paid for the trip.

Riu Lupita: A difficult hotel to rate
Riu Lupita is a difficult hotel to rate because it depends on what you like.
To me, the beach is the most important thing and the price. I never have expectations about the food or amenities, and for sure I don’t care if the TV works or not.
Travel: First week of June 2025
This is a small resort, which for me is great, but if you like mega resorts, this one is not for you.
Amenities are limited, so if Gym, Spa, etc are important to you, wrong hotel.
The hotel was not at full capacity. If [... read more]there were more people, it would not have been pleasant.
Price:
We paid CAD 1,300 for flight, transfer and hotel. If we had waited it could have been CAD 1,100 each and RIU Palace was CAD 1,800 (for reference)
Beach:
This was my 3rd visit to Playa del Carmen. The sargassum is a down. We were able to get in the ocean the first day and 20 minutes on the last day. I came to the realization that I prefer Cuba with their ok food and any other limitations (less expensive and way better beaches)
To get to the beach you must ride a bus (12 minutes). The bus also stops at the entrance of the town. The ride is not a big deal. My problem is that 6 out of 7 days we did the ride to find out we could not swim, either because of the sargassum or red flag.
Pools:
I don’t like public pools. I have one at my building and I have used it once.
The hotel has 3 pools. The main pool is smaller than what you see in the pictures. The best one is the adult or the relaxation one.
All pools are heat it, which makes no sense to me. They are clean.
Food:
Buffet – it is ok to good. You will not go hungry. Sometimes they don’t replenish dishes so if you see something you like, take it.
Restaurants – Nothing special. The mediterranean and Mexico were ok. The steak at the beach club was not worth the bus ride.
I prefer the buffet for sure.
The room was perfect. Everything works as expected. I like firm beds.
Employees were friendly, professional and extremely attentive. Fidelia at the buffet is a sweetheart.
But again, all the employees are excellent.
People, Tip, just because it is an all inclusive, it doesn’t mean the tips are included. A USD or 20 MXP it is not a lot of money for us. We spend more than that just in coffee here.
Note to the hotel:
1. Why have fried plantain for breakfast and never for lunch or dinner?
2. Turn off the heat in the pools.
3. 20 USD/daily bicycle rental? That’s a bit too much
I have to insert here a review that has nothing to do with the hotel. Lots of utube videos recommend a restaurant on calle 2nd in town – La Tarraya – Do not go there, it is a tourist trap. on the top worth meals ever for what we paid. I will write a more detailed review on google or trip advisor.

Krystal Grand Cancun: great smaller resort
Kyrstal Grand Cancun was an excellent smaller resort for a graduation trip with my daughter. The restaurants do not require reservations which is a huge plus for us, the food in the specialty restaurants and the buffet was diverse, hot, fresh and plentiful. the bars provided an good range of alcohol and spirits. Service was excellent, the servers at the restaurants and bars was fast and provided with a smile. Rooms were dated, but clean and large. The ocean front balcony provided a stunnin[... read more]g view. Double beds were small (not a typical north american sized double) however they were comfortable. Only downfall was the room air conditioning was preset to 21.5-22c, no matter what temp you chose on the thermostat. Throughout the resort, the a/c wasnt very strong or cold. Pools were small but clean, lack of umbrella's/shade by the pool was a negative. Beach was stunning, stayed during a sargassum influx, and they worked daily to keep the beach cleaned. Ocean was much calmer in the cove in front of the resort compared to down the beach. Beach loungers and palapa's were plentiful and easy to find a spot every day. Evening entertainment was small but suitable. Dont miss the sunday night beach BBQ and fire show! it was amazing, as was the mexican night buffet outside. Overall a wonderful stay

Wyndham Grand Cancun: Nice All Inclusive Resort
We enjoyed our stay at the Wyndham Grand Cancun and would absolutely stay there again. The hotel was clean and had all the amenities you need. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The buffet was very good and provided numerous options, but the a la carte restaurants had limited options.
The beach is beautiful! My only suggestion would be to add more umbrellas on the beach and around the pool lounge chairs. Many of the umbrellas were broken and/or missing their pins. There were plenty of lo[... read more]unge chairs, but a large portion of them didn't provide any shade.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Great vacation
This was our 4th visit to this resort (2 times when it was Azul). We love it partly because everything is easy to walk to and we enjoy the swim-up rooms. The service, food, bars and pools are of the highest standard. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. This last trip the beach was covered in seaweed making swimming in the ocean difficult. This is not always the case however. During our last trip, I did a fair bit of snorkeling off the shore, but there was too much seawe[... read more]ed to wade through this time.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Disappointed
Our experience at this specific resort is so DISAPPOINTING compared to our previous experience with Bahia Principe Luxury - Esmeralda in the Dominican Republic. We had a great time in Punta Cana so we thought we would have the same experience. Unfortunately, we were so wrong. Driving in to the resort, we were welcomed with an ongoing construction at the site: parts of the stairs at the entrance is closed off as it is being fixed, the buildings we have initially requested for is going through maj[... read more]or construction, the main pool is closed due to some machine/filtration malfunction. The construction should have been disclosed to us when we first connected with the 2 Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal Customer Care via email a week before our arrival since we are a big group and there are few people in our group that are handicap and unable to walk far and take stairs. We requested for specific buildings to accommodate our physical disabilities but we were not even accommodated nor given better options. The beach is disappointing too especially by the infinity pool. We can't really enjoy the pool nor the restaurant by it because you will inhale the fumes from the tractors that hauls the seaweed from that beach. Basically, the view from the infinity pool are the workers and the tractors cleaning the seaweed at the beach. Also, the ala carte restaurants are so hard to get reservations through the app for our group of 16. I was told at the front desk that I should have been referred to a Groups/Events Representative which was not even suggested in the beginning. When we took our chance to go to one of the ala carte restaurants, it was almost empty and yet the app says it's full. When we asked if they can accommodate us, they said they can as long as we purchase 2 bottles of wine for our group which cost $100 usd. Also, we were told to pay $8 per coconut if we want one. Food at the buffet is nothing to write home about and it's mediocre at best. The swim up bar at the main pool area closed early because they ran out of alcohol. We also have bats and cockroaches in the rooms. The doors to the connecting rooms are literally screwed shut so we can't even access the other room from the inside. For the amount of money we paid for this all-inclusive, this is not a Luxury resort at all. This is not all-inclusive. I will not recommend this to anyone. This resort ruined the other Bahia resorts for us.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Not what I expected
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the hotel was impeccably clean, the room accommodations were large and inviting which made for a comfortable stay. However, the food was disappointing and didn’t meet our expectations. The only restaurant that was good was the French. We have been to Mexico many times and we chose to go back because their food was always great. Not this time. The staff were pleasant but not particularly engaging, only if they are t[... read more]rying to sell you the upgrades. The family section lacked entertainment. You only had the music from the pool and that’s it. Most of the entertainment staff seemed to be focused on the Elite areas of the resort, and unless you pay extra for “Elite” status, you miss out on a lot.
The layout of the resort is another drawback. The family section is located at the far end of the property, a good 10–15 minute walk from the beach — longer if you’re carrying all your beach gear under the scorching sun. While trolleys are available, they run every 30 minutes and fill up fast. If you’re not assertive, you may not get a seat.
All in all, I found this hotel to be overpriced for the quality of accommodations and food offered. My family and I had higher expectations and unfortunately, we will not be returning.
