Occidental Cozumel: Fantastic holiday!!!

Occidental Cozumel did not disappoint!! From the beautiful grounds to the amazing staff this resort was definitely worth the extra few bucks we paid. Cozumel is a favourite destination of ours and once again the island has set itself apart for an amazing downtown core and beautiful places to eat and visit like Coconuts. Santos at the adult pool won our vote for best customer service throughout the week. We will definitely be back!!!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: excellent resort

everything-food, beach, room excellent, only disappointment was 2 plus hr delay at Punta Cana airport due to poor Sunwing management of situation, there was at least 8 sunnwng reps there but no one coordinating anything

Allegro Playacar: Great time at Allegro Playacar

Great location and of the best beaches we have ever been to. The hotel is small (which was one of the reasons why we chose it), plenty of chairs and space near beach and pools. Beach and sea are amazing. Rooms are small, but have all necessary amenities (coffee-maker, vanity mirror, iron) and are clean. Shower roof was leaking when it rained. Food was tasty and well-cooked. Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Awesome Getaway!

We went to Barcelo Bavaro Beach as a couple and it couldn’t have been more perfect. I hadn’t been to an all inclusive before and my partner had only been one other time. The resort was the perfect size for us. Staff were super friendly and our room was very clean upon arrival. We stayed in building two which is in very close distance to the beach, pool, and entertainment areas. T [... read more]he beach was well maintained, we bought goggles from the gift shop, were told we wouldn’t see much sea life right off the beach, but we saw plenty of fish and a smaller sea turtle ! We headed over to the palace a few times to eat at the sports bar, but also went over a different night to check out the casino and the disco, which to be honest we weren’t impressed with. Mainly stuck to our resort as it’s adults only and the palace seemed a little more chaotic with the amount of children. Forms of entertainment were provided every night and through out the day. One day we did a catamaran excursion which we would absolutely do again, another day we did dune buggies and zip lining, which we probably would not do again as we came there for the beach and ocean and found ourselves missing the resort. This resort is perfect for anyone wanting to get away and relax without kids, maybe do a little partying. Didn’t really seem like the type of place that younger people would go to if you wanted to really party, but we were there in November so it was more of a quieter time. Bottom line: Beach and pool are beautiful, drinks are strong, food is great and our room was clean, what more can you ask for!?

Palma Real: Mediocre

The location was great 1 minute away from the beach and main downtown attractions. The food was mediocre and often repeated. It was also not replenished often once done during buffet times nor warmed up again. Our room was also just mediocre, the main mirror had a big chunk where it was shattered. We had to look through each corner of it. Maids cleaned our room nicely and were trustworthy. Out of 4 pools only 2 were open, but they were great. Barcelo Maya Caribe: Think twice

My first experience at an all-inclusive. Probably my last time too. The resort is nice and spacious. The rooms have good beds that are comfortably. Food is good. Although limited. No alcohol until 12 Noon. Limited beer in the room fridge. I thought that being by the pool enjoying the sunshine that I could get a drink or two without having to walk to get it! No light snacks for the evening. Made things challenging, our daughter is living with type 1 diabetes and requires snacks. Tried to ta [... read more]ke a couple pieces of fruit and yogurt from morning buffet. I was made aware not to do that. The evening entertainment was really late.

Occidental Tucancun: Beautiful resort

We really enjoyed our trip. We upgraded to the premium ocean front suite which was amazing! Beautiful beach, great pools, especially the relax pool. The massage at the spa was fantastic. What made the entire trip was the excellent staff, everyone that worked at the resort always greeted you with a smile.

Barcelo Aruba: Fantastic Vacation

Together with another couple we booked an Air Canada two week all-inclusive vacation at Barcelo Aruba and it couldn’t have been more pleasant. The seats on the plane were comfortable, with plenty of leg room - a big step up from your usual charter flights. We were met at the Aruba airport by an Air Canada rep and taken to our resort by bus. Same good service back to the airport and checked in. Christian was amazing. When we arrived at the hotel, our check-in was efficiently completed. [... read more] We weren’t happy with the rooms assigned to us so the next day we were moved to rooms with a nicer view of the beach. Service was always with a smile, the food was good, the beach perfect and the beds super comfortable. We loved the lively aquafit class in the pool each day. The wifi was available in the lobby area only, and usually slow. Thankfully we weren’t there to net-surf. We were there to spend our time on the beautiful white sand and in the warm ocean. The usual problem of the 5 am "reserving" of loungers was alive and well but we were always able to find loungers on a far end of the beach. We just had to move them regularly to be shaded by a palm. Loraine, one of our happy servers in the buffet gave us extra special treatment - thx Loraine. Yenith S. kept our rooms organized and shiny clean for our two week stay - she was amazing. We'd definitely return.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing Resort

All I can say is this resort was well worth the trip. We did a family trip and our kids absolutely loved it. Food: Fresh always, always a variety a la carts were outstanding especially the Japanese! Beach: The most gorgeous beach we’ve ever been to in all the Caribbean, water was warm, waves were moderate sand was clean! So much life to the beach. Rooms: Ro [... read more]oms were clean, we did have some trouble with our lock and the air conditioning but wasn’t a huge deal they fixed that very quickly. Only thing is there was a lot of humidity which made the covers damp. Overall an amazing trip - can’t wait to be back soon! Recommend this resort to everyone!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Fabulous vacation!

We had a fabulous stay at the Barcelo bravo palace! We loved snorkelling in the turquoise water and relaxing on the white powder sand. It was the cleanest resort we’ve ever stayed at! Our favourite restaurant was the Japanese but we also enjoyed the steak and Mexican restaurant too! We will be back and definitely recommend this resort!!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Everything you want in a resort and more

This is my third time back to the Occidental at Xcaret Destination and it still is one of my favorite resorts in the Caribbean. The resort is built around the lush natural grounds with walking trails. There are Mayan Ruins on the property that date back over 1500years. With all the greenery you will find on the resort monkeys, just playing around in the trees and from time to time they will hang out on your balcony if you are in or around buildings 18 & 19. There are flamingos and deer on site [... read more] along with the most recent addition of Bambi a baby deer that is being raised by the wonderful staff that work at this hotel. She is like a puppy she gives kisses all over and you can pet her for hours. She is the sweetest. Parrots are partnered and placed throughout the main lobby areas of the resort. there are turtles and countless iguanas and geckos. You will see little furry animals as well going about their daily business. The inlet is amazing, you have calm waters (especially great for thoes with little kids) with hundreds of tropical fish and minnows from the ocean that hang out there all day so bring your snorkels as there is much to see in this part of the ocean. Food is fantastic there is always something for everyone. You no longer have to make reservations for the a la carts. It is first come first serve. We never had to wait for a table but do keep in mind we went the first week of November and the resort was not at capacity. The steak at all the a la carts was amazing. Tender and delish definitely recommend. Don't forget to check out the Xcaret Eco Park that is right next door however admission is aproximately $100US per adult and $50US per child. There is also a nightly Mayan ritual that is held in the lobby at 7pm weeknights. It is definitely worth seeing. The resort is big however there are carts that go around the resort and will stop and pick you up and take you to your destination if you don't want to walk through all the nature. Again, this resort will not disappoint so do check it out.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Rating this resort a 7/10

I feel like this resort is really beautiful, but it is extremely huge, or should I say massive. If you don’t mind doing a lot of walking and you have kids then this is a fantastic place(for the most part). As there’s so much for them to do. Yes it has a bus that takes you around but it comes every 30 minutes which is a waste of time to wait for it. The food is not the greatest, the buffet food was not very warm and a lot of the times it didn’t look/taste fresh. Our bathroom light was flickering and our sink was clogged upon arrival. Almost all the staff did not know any English so asking for directions/questions was nearly impossible unless you went all the way to the front desk. Strikers bar food was absolutely terrible, it’s not even worth trying. The resort was so big that it felt so empty, I went from Nov 9- Nov 16 and we were wondering where everyone was. The nightly entertainment was very bad. I feel that they need to interact more with the audience and get us involved as it makes the experience more personal and enjoyable. they had one called “ideal couple” which I heard was their only good show for the week, and I’m sad that we couldn’t attend because we couldn’t find the place. At the end of our trip we heard you can download an app that will tell you the show times and locations which is more helpful and I would reconnect downloading before going. I’m not a very picky person, in my mid 20’s and am very active but this was a little too much walking for my liking while on Vaykay. Even finding the pool bars or best nightly entertainment was a struggle. I’ve been to many other all inclusive resorts and mexico and this was probably one of the worst ones. My boyfriend also did get sick when he was down there. Don’t get me wrong you may go and have an amazing time, unfortunately there was a lot of downfalls to this trip for my boyfriend and I.

Occidental Cozumel: Good resort but left some things to be desired

The room was decent BUT mini fridge only stocked every other day The food was good BUT the variety was poor, lunch was pretty much the same every day, omelette bar was awesome at breakfast The evening entertainment was not as good as I had hoped for BUT some neat things were seen The daily activities were pushed hard at the activity pool but were still pretty much the same every day There is no alcohol served before NOON...so if you plan to drink from dawn til dawn...not this resort Not th [... read more]e best reef to snorkel on but there were still some fish The beach was good and sandy BUT hard to find shade and keep it (no palapas or umbrellas on the beach but there were umbrellas at the pools) Overall, consider whether you want a small, remote resort or a big partying resort

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Awesome resort

This resort is really great. Very well kept grounds, rooms are clean and in great repair. Food was also very good. Lots for kids to do and getting the use of four resorts for the price of one is fantastic. We will definitely go again.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Unforgettable

This was a true five star resort the hotel is amazing, so clean and organized. Food was incredible my 3 year old picky eater was well fed. The beach is white sand clear turquoise waters great for snorkeling. Activites from mini golf to bowling. Free dolphin shows daily at dolphinaris. Shopping mall and market on resort. INCREDIBLE and UNFORGETTABLE

The resort is one of the best we have every stayed The food out of this world, the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The rooms excellent.Would we go back definitely One negative it is not easy to get in and out of shower no handrails

Barcelo Aruba: My Barcelo experience

The beach was beautiful as to be expected in Aruba! And we enjoyed sunshine every day. I am a very seasoned traveller and have stayed at many all-inclusives throughout the Caribbean and Mexico. I was extremely surprised and disappointed with the food at the Barcelo Aruba resort. The restaurants were just ok with limited food selections but the buffet restaurant was the worst. There was very little variety and the food quality was mediocre. And it seemed to get worse as the week progressed [... read more]! There is really no excuse for this lack of attention to food from the hotel management! The island of Aruba has the most amazing restaurants and clearly availability and supply of quality and fresh food should not be an issue. For this reason, we will never return to this resort or any Barcelo hotel. Also to note, the beach was very busy and you have to go down at 6 am to secure your chair if you want any shade.

Barcelo Solymar: Used to be much better

I have been to Barcelo resorts 2 times in the past. My review is based on my experience in relation to this past visit. - We ordered an upgraded oceanview room, checked in at 7pm, no room for us available. Had to stay in on a lower level of bungalow and awoke to find bugs in the room. Moved to our oceanview room the next day, AC not working properly. - Less food options and restricted to specific times. Resort ran out of Mint for Mojito's - Less activities to do and lack of signing out voll [... read more]eyballs, soccer balls, etc. - Not as clean (broken glasses served to me, damage to rooms & lobbies, smell of urine from bathrooms, had to bring to resort attention that there was blood on the floor from the elevator to the doors leading to outdoor pool, beach needs to be cleaned a little as I found broken glass and garbage in some areas) - Lack of sufficient light at night in the hotel as many lightbulbs were out, hard to see turning the corner from elevator. - Resort should have an ATM in the lobby, had to walk half an hour into town to use ATM. The list goes on, however all these minor items do start to add up and create frustration, something I shouldn't experience on vacation. I am being told there is food strikes, power strikes, and a power struggle between Cuban Government and Owners of Barcelo. Had I known there was this commotion going on I may have decided to vacation somewhere else. Cuba is very lovely, safe, and a great place to vacation. Highly recommend visiting Havana.However the overall service at Barcelo has gone downhill and should be looked into asap. Once again, my vacations before at Barcelo were much better.
