Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Excellent resort

The hotel was clean. Staff and service was great. Food was good. Will definitely be going back. Great time just to short think 10 days or 14days would have been perfect. Beautiful ocean and views. One thing I do wish is that they made real pina coladas on resort

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very good resort

Their rooms they were nice that food it’s OK the grounds a little bit of work That bitch it’s OK a little lever have a rocky but overall it’s good The people at the hotel the servers are good I would go back

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Atlantico: 3rd stay

Third time at this hotel. Awesome stay again. Return Guest Lobster dinner. 2 buffets, 4 pools, a la cartes and the beach is public which is awesome and beautiful. You can mingle with the locals and drink and eat (pay) at the beach bars. "flea market" beside the clinic and a couple of stores across the way. Different events every night The hotel is very big so, if you run into issues with anyone in your "party" you can easily find somewhere for some alone time.... haha there are standard ro [... read more]oms, tropical, bungalow and villas. It is best to book the standard room and then upgrade once you arrive, it is definitely cheaper to do it that way, unless you want to guarantee a specific room or want to be on the safe side The food at the buffet wasn't all that good but... it is buffet food and they can't please everyone. For the real Cuban food, step out of the hotel and as close as the beach you will find better food and not expensive at all. Excursions: i did the Catamaran and the Jeep tour. Catamaran was OK, the ride was good, snorkeling was great, beach was nice, food was pizza and spaghetti not what i expected... i expected Cuban food... the jeep through the "zoo" was ok, saw cows, a zebra and some antelope not so exciting. Probably wouldn't do that again unless i go with someone who wants to do it. Jeep Tour was fun! got to drive the Jeep and speed boat. We went to a farm, horse back riding, lunch (was good, had the fish & shrimp), and finally speed boating. this one i can do again for sure... I previously did the Dolphin tour I liked it, it was fun and is the best price you can get for swimming with the Dolphins... $79 ish CUC's and it includes lunch. Can't find a better price anywhere in the world. if this is something you are interested in then definitely do it in Cuba. I like this hotel very much, they are building a new one which should be ready in Nov 2019 but, we'll see. I am already making plans to go back with a friend. It seems every time i come back, someone wants to go with me. The thing i did not like at all was the single sup...it is unfair to charge singles more money for the same stay. it's almost like being charged a penalty b/c you are not "paired up" or "have no friends". I've been told that prices are based on room not occupancy however; that is not true b/c all prices are based on dbl occupancy, when you change to single it adds more money. So, you do pay more for being single which sucks b/c you could use that money to tip. But if you want to charge me $90-$200 extra, then don't expect any tips from me. Singles make less of a mess, use less electricity and water, tend to tip more b/c they are alone and b/c we are alone we would tend to do the excursions to meet people. Also, when singles come back from vacay, our friends are jealous so, we tend to come back with friends....which brings the hotel more business Groups (not all) tend to leave less or no tip b/c "it's not my turn", make more mess, drink more, cause a ruckus, use more electricity and water and are LOUD.... Not just this hotel but every hotel should re-think the single supp, the world is changing, not everyone has a family or a significant other or likes vacationing with anyone OR those who have significant others where they are travelling... something to consider hotel people....

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Ups & Downs

The rooms were beautiful, clean and well equipped. The walls are paper thin, you can hear everything from your neighbors. The layout of the resort is nice, but be prepared for a lot of walking or waiting for the go carts. We were in building 26, close to beach and waterpark. We did get rooms 2 doors apart as we were 2 families with our email request. The pool was nice and had OK bar service, but ran out of Cristal too frequently as did the beach bar. Have to grab chairs by at least 9am if y [... read more]ou want shade by the pool. Lots at the beach, but running at 50% capacity not sure how it will be @ 10%. Food was what to be expected for Cuba, breakfast was fine, really long lines for pancakes & omelets. Lunch & Dinner buffet was the same, no variation or meat or fish, no theme for the buffet to change up the menu. In general service was very slow, food not up to par for what they call a 5*. Lobby wasn't a happening place after 10 either, maybe b/c it was only half full not sure. Nor was the disco at any point.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Resort was great!

The resort was great and easy to navigate around. I would not recommend for ppl with leg issues. The staff were amazing and so attentive to anything u needed. There was a shortage of peso coins which I could not afford to tip 3 and up pesos. They did not expect tips which was amazing to me. We had a great time and will return. Cheers!

Brisas Guardalavaca: A wonderful getaway week.

Many improvements from 9 or 10 years ago when we were last here. The quality of the food has improved drastically. We had a really terrific week but I have 3 complaints. 1. The constant high volume noise of the staff trying to get activities going and especially the thumping music being played at a much too high volume, especially the bass and drums. There was not enough peaceful relaxing time because of this. And especially the painfully loud thumping racket on the "Disco on the Beach" e [... read more]vening...it went on until 1:00 am....impossible to sleep or even relax. 2. All the bars in the hotel were out of mint for the whole week we were there. What is a Cuban vacation without proper Mojitos???? I even went to a farm near Holguin and bought a huge bag full of mint for only 2 CUCs which we used copiously and then gave the mint to the downstairs bar for the use of the hotel. Surely if a foreigner from Canada can find mint in Cuba, the hotel certainly ought to be able to acquire some itself. 3. A very uncomfortable ending to our lovely holiday occurred when we were not given a courtesy room to change and shower after our final day on the beach and in the pool. We ended up changing in a stairwell that the staff used as we needed to get on the bus but we still had sand and chlorine on us for the entire journey home. All of these things could be easily rectified.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great vacation.

3rd time at resort, 1st under memories. Hotel is older but in great shape. Friendly people and a good time. Kids loved the kids club, safe and clean. Had a few issues but hotel was somewhat fast at fixing. Would go back again.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice resort. Too many stairs!

This resort delivers a lot of what I expect from a Cuban resort. The grounds are well kept, the staff are pleasant, the food is adequate but not spectacular, and the facilities are reasonably clean. However, the number of stairs (over 60) from the lower level near the beach to the upper level for the lobby and dining areas made this an uncomfortable visit. We found the golf cart "taxi" service to be unreliable or non-existent.

Playa Costa Verde: Always the Best in Cuban Hospitality

Clean efficient and most of all FRIENDLY!!! Yes I am a manytime returnee to this resort and very biased...as I do travel elsewhere yet thisvis my true rest vacation spot. They excel at makingvyou confortable and at hime. Need something..ask! If its in Cuba they will get it for you or do if they can.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: The Absolute Best Resort!

I just returned from a weeks stay at Fiesta Americana Costa Verde in Playa Pesquero Beach and I can honestly say I have no complaints, everything was wonderful. My husband and I travelled with 7 friends and we all had an amazing time. The staff in the bars, the restaurants, housekeeping and grounds were all super friendly. The rooms, the lobby and all places inbetween were clean. The beach is beautiful, hobie cats were so much fun. We will certainly return :)

Don Lino Hotel: Great time!

Don Lino is a small, well cared for resort - the staff are very kind and helpful - the meals are very good and the restaurant and bar service is excellent! The beach is lovely but not good for swimming - there are free bicycles and horseback riding - we have been to Don Lino four times now and will return in the future

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: The Best Vacation Ever!

I travelled with four couples and had my own room. I never once felt anything but safe and well taken care of. Room was extremely clean, staff was top notch, food was very good and a lot of variety. We went on a day excursion which I would highly recommend to everyone as the authentic experience made my trip exceptional.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great resort!

I really enjoyed my stay,the staff is super nice and helpful. I was surprise to hear so many can speak french, even tho I am bilingual I am french canadian!!! Asian restaurant is the best but the food is pretty good! Don't miss going on the small catamaran at the beach, it's free but you should tip the guy. The beach is nice but bring water shoes because there are some rocks! We had sun every day! I would recommand it to my friends!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great Place to Wind Down

Rio de Oro is a great place to wind down and relax. By comparison to other resorts, it feels uncrowded. The buffet restaurant was never full when we visited, and line-ups for cappuccinos and other drinks at the main lobby bar were never long. Service was almost uniformly good. Entertainment was for the most part low-key, which suited us, mostly house bands playing good local music. Partiers might prefer a less tranquil locale, however. Food at the buffet is better than the Cuban norm (we did  [... read more]not try any of the a la carte restaurants). You’ll find smoked salmon, roasted red peppers, wheels of real Parmesan cheeses, and other items unlikely to be served at other resorts. Beer and wine were unexceptional but appreciated nonetheless. Ice cream did lack variety compared to some other resorts. Our room (the basic junior suite) was fine. The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning and room safe both worked. The bathroom had plenty of hot water, though the shower tended to flood the floor, a minor complaint. The pool is beautiful, one side shaded by a towering rock outcrop. The swim-up bar can get a little rowdy late in the afternoon, depending on who’s been imbibing, but it was never over-the-top, and there is a second lower tier to the pool that is shielded to a degree from the main pool. The main beach is lovely, and there is a charming, almost hidden second beach by the spa. Snorkeling can be quite good, though our experience is that the water tends to be less sheltered, hence rougher, than down the road at Playa Pesquero.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: No Frill Resort

Villas are nice but bars and cafeteria is less then acceptable. Most of my time there I was unable to get a simple dark rum also long lines to cafeteria on the weekend just to find there is no food available. On the weekend lots of local population vacations there and creates shortages on everything.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Couldn’t have had a better trip!

Upon planning this trip, my boyfriend and I really didn’t have high expectations. We just wanted beach and pool. Boy were we surprised. This resort checked off many essentials that we needed to have a memorable time. Room-simple and clean (who stays on their room Anyways) Food-we could always find something adequate to eat (beach fries and hot dogs were the best) Staff-fun polite and helpful The grounds-stunning (we loved the stairs because we got a stunning view and our workout) Beach-A [... read more]mazing (that is why we vacation) Pool-a bit cloudy at the swim up bar (but it’s a swim up bar) Lastly, we did the Gazebo lobster dinner one night for extra$$$ and it was so worth it! I believe it is all about the people who you are with when vacationing. Don’t focus so much on the negative. We will most definitely go back!

Playa Costa Verde: Friendly Resort!

We have been at this resort before a few times and we love it! Friendly staff, beautiful beach, good food(love the ice cream bar)! Highly recommend to single People and families. Shopping close to resort is handy if you are looking for local souvenirs.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Amazing vacation

Loved the resort! The grounds are beautiful and the beach was great. Very friendly staff. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Will definitely go back again. Sunwing was very visible and we were very satisfied with the excursions that we took, especially the Bay Adventure.

Playa Pesquero: Great as ever

We were in building 60 this year which I believe are standard rooms. The air conditioning was adequate but there were times when we wished we could have just blasted it for a minute, but overnight it was cold enough to use blankets, so as I say, adequate. It was only a short walk to the pool, at the far end, and to the buffet and lobby. The water pressure was great and the service staff did a good job cleaning and providing lots of coffee, sugar, water and Cristal beer. The food was noticeably l [... read more]ess impressive this year but there is a national shortage on a lot of staples right now so as with everything Cuban, they make the best with what they have. In addition to the 4 a la cartes, we opted to pay for 2 other dinners. One new one was an outdoor bbq lobster or steak dinner held just outside the lobby, I think it may have been called Bistro, but I'm not certain. It was nice, good food and nice atmosphere. The other was held on the premium side beside the pool, I can't remember the name of it but it wasn't as nice. The food and atmosphere were average and commonly found on the regular free parts of the resort so I don't feel it was worth paying for. The resort was near capacity and there were still lots of chairs to be found at the pool and at the beach, and both counter service and table service were still friendly and efficient. All in all, it was nice, would definitely return again.

Playa Pesquero: Hotel needs some upgrades

We have been to this hotel several times and have never had a problem with the food till now, we found there was not the variety we expected and when asked were told we just come at the wrong time. We were told the weekend we arrived that a delivery of food was arriving on the Monday, it did we have more of a variety for about 2 days then everything was gone again. We stayed 2 weeks so we were able to see that nothing got better. We approached some of the upper management on a couple of questio [... read more]ns and were just totally ignored. The staff at this place will go out of there way to make sure you feel welcome, to bad management would not take a lesson from them. We will go back because of the people that work there they are great.
