Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: 5 day trip

Save the money rooms are nicer in the family side. All adults buffet was awful, family side was great. Our room didn’t have blankets and when we asked we got an extra sheet. We didn’t have toilet paper in either room (we had two rooms) for the first 24 hours, had to go get some from the lobby. Staff are amazing except for the sunwing reps. Save the $150 and say on the family sode

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Playa Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba

Pleasantly surprised with this Hotel. Beautiful long, white sandy beach. Large clean rooms. Plenty of food selections in Buffet Restaurant. Plenty of other restaurants and cafes near pools. Multiple pools. Excellent evening Entertainment. Pool & beach games & entertainment daily. Very polite & friendly staff. All in all an excellent Resort.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing Beach

We stayed in the over 18 section and the rooms were nice and clean. Our maid Mai was friendly and had a different towel art each day. The pool in that section was quiet and the staff were great. Our favorite part was the beach at low tide. You could walk out to a sand bar at the far end of the beach and see star fish and all kinds of other fish and hermit craps etc. We will be returning to this resort again .

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: beautiful

We were very lucky - wonderful weather throughout our whole stay. the layout, the natures .. all beautiful for the eyes loved the convenience - everything was close by (within the resort) ie beach, pool, bars, restos, ice cream bar - super friendly chef and service ~ little delight of the day in restos, food variety sometimes seems to be a bit limited but can always find something to enjoy :)) entertainment - always can have something to do (ie streching/taichi fusion facing the sea, or ju [... read more]st chill & enjoy the sun & the breeze, dance, nightly shows/concerts etc... even watching great movies in the room (try to limit that..^^") we were happy to have brought our thermo/cup (especially going to the beach & pools) ---- or the plastic cups would have mounted up incredibly a bit turn down at the end of the trip - & new to us (helpful to you) we were changing more money to CUC the day before our departure to do some purchase, it would have been much appreciated if the information staff could have informed us that we will have to change the CUC back in airport prior check in. We would have adjusted the amount that we changed. Because at the airport, we had to exchange the CUC back. (Sunwing staff did not inform us about it ahead either ---- we only obtained this info on the bus on the way to the airport..hmm) not lot of money but felt cheated... & that's not how we wanted to feel after a relaxing week. So let's give the benefit of the doubt that they really did not know... and we should have known. Hopefully this info can be helpful to you ---- so able to finish a beautiful trip on a beautiful note

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great resort!

Good food, attentive and friendly staff, great entertainment. Everything is close in the central building: buffet/dining restaurant, bar, coffee bar, main lobby/lounge, reception, a la carte restaurants, gym, pool table, theatre etc

The resort is getting dated. Unfortunately the beach has badly deteriorated. We use to really enjoy this resort but beach is a main part of our vacation. But the staff are amazing. Always willing to do everything they can to make your stay as pleasant as they can !!!

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful Resort, But...

The Royalton Cayo Santa Maria is arguably the most beautiful resort in the Cayo Santa Maria area. The grounds are very lush and are extremely well maintained by the gardeners. The buildings are well maintained and attractive. Our room was very comfortable and clean, with excellent a/c, which is a must have in Cuba. Luigi, the General Manager, has been at the resort for only four weeks, but is present at least 16 hours a day. He is constantly interacting with the staff, as well as the guests, a [... read more]nd is extremely attentive. The Butler service is a nice touch, and they are willing to anything they can to help you enjoy your vacation. As for the beach, well you won't find a better one. It is gorgeous, with fine white sand, that stretches for about six kilometers. The servers are constantly looking after guests and seem truely pleased to do so. Rosemary, runs the quesadillas grill next to the beach bar at lunch, which is not to be missed. She does a fabulous job. The bars are all well stocked, and can make almost any drink you desire. The pina coladas are very good and don't taste artificial at all. The staff at all the bars are very pleasant and service is top notch. The one downfall to the resort, is the selection of food at the restaurants. It is very limited, and definitely needs improvement. However, a highlight in addition to the quesadillas, is the daily BBQ lunch next to the snack bar. The grill chef does a spectacular job, grilling up chicken, ribs, pork, rice, etc. You shouldn't miss it. Unfortunately, the other restaurants need to improve. If that were to happen, the Royalton would be an unbelievable value. Hopefully Luigi can make the changes necessary to achieve the resort's full potential. Overall we had a great time at the resort and I'm sure most people do. It would be great if they could improve the dining experience. Then they truly would deserve a 4.5 - 5 star rating.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Nice resort but very poor lighting

It was one of the nicer resorts for Cuba but for it only being a couple of years old it could use a little TLC especially the lights along the paths. There were also a couple of days when the lights were out in our hallways. This is a safety issue which we advised the front desk and our Transat rep but not much was done. I believe they were short lightbulbs. I understand they only get supplies once a week. We were there at the end of November 2019 so I am hopeful it is fixed. The employees  [... read more]as always were very nice and appreciative for the tips and items we brought from home for them. Some of the items are very difficult for them to get even if they have the money. The Transat rep was amazing and very friendly. Just be aware that Cuba is in the process of changing their currency so do not buy too much. The rep told us of the money changing and to ensure we changed it back to Canadian before we left Cuba. She forgot to tell us to change it before you leave the hotel the duty free at the airport will not accept it and you will have to stand in line to do this after you get your boarding pass so save yourself the headache and do this before you leave the hotel. The beach and sun was great but to my friends disappointment they ran out of red wine half way through the week. Loved Mike's cafe. If you want to bring some items from home I suggest tooth paste, tooth bush, shampoo, soaps, sanitary napkins and tampons, fishing line, leaders, hooks and school supplies. Overall we had a great time and have been to Cuba many many times love the people

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Enjoyable time

My wife and I went here for our anniversary trip this year. The resort was clean and the beach was beautiful. We enjoyed our morning beach walks and spent most of our time near the pool lounging. Staff was friendly and helpful. Having unlimited Al carts was a nice added feature which we used nightly. Buffet for dinner seemed crowded while we were there as it is only open at the Grand memories resort. The Theatre put on a good show nightly. Market is a short walk which was a fun place to visit. W [... read more]e went to the spa and had a great couples massage. Overall it was a good time and would recommend it.

Memories Paraiso: Amazing

This resort is like my second home everything was wonderful .The staff is amazing loved my stay at memories parizio always do and will continue to go back again and again the beach is beautiful .The food and entertainment staff are wonderful .Yanny is a server in front lobby she is amazing such a great worker and freind I look forward to seeing.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Very good resort!

Nice hotel, very green, good food and friendly staff. Very long beach, good for walking, but shallow (good for kids). Big and modern lobby, rooms are standard and clean. Amaizing artists and musicians!

Memories Paraiso: Nice Grounds

Nice grounds well kept by gardeners. Hotel rooms in need of minor maintenance. Need more vegan and vegetarian options for food. The rooms did not have enough blankets and our bar fridge did not work and took 4 days to be addressed. The shower head leaked and the AC only had 1 setting, freezing or hot.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Family Spot!

We had a wonderful week at the Playa,my husband already wrote a review but I have to add this resort had many options. Between the beer gardens, grill spot for lunch, beach grill, snack bar, it provided a variety spots. The pools were amazing, always seats available. The only downside was it was a popular resort. Great for the resort but getting a spot on the beautiful beach was a task. We did manage and the staff at the beach were a great asset in helping us find loungers. A special mention to our maid Julia,very sweet and did a great job with our room. This resort comes highly recommended from our family.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: very poorly managed resort

We arrived at the hotel on November 15th. We were settled into room 0607. When we arrived there, the lock did not open. After 15-20 scans, it finally worked. There was a strong smell of some kind of chemical inside. The room was dirty, someone's hair on the floor. The safe did not work. A minute later we saw a cockroach on the floor. I killed him, but in the closet we saw another one on the wall. Another cockroach ran across the floor again. We returned to the lobby. We were told to wait, there  [... read more]was a long line. We waited about 40 minutes. They listened to us and gave room 0670. We left the house at 10 a.m. We had a some meal on the plane, and now it was 9.15 pm. We were very hungry and went to a restaurant. After the restaurant we went to see the room. Opening the door with a key, I saw 2 women. They were also surprised, like us. We went to the lobby. We were given room 0370. We were not able to open the door. I went to the lobby. The keys were reprogrammed, we open the door to the room. Our luggage was in room 0607. I went to the lobby and asked for the key to room 0607. The door to room 0607 could not be opened. I returned to the lobby. They called someone, we went to room 0607, after 5-6 minutes of the specialist struggle with the lock, the door was open. We took our luggage and went to room 0370. Then I brought the key to room 0607 in the lobby. The beds in 0370 had clean, fresh linen, but the bathroom also had hair, floors and tables dirty. It was very late, we cleaned up a room and finally get to bed. In the main restaurant there are no spoons, glasses for juice and very often there are no plates. People stand in line, waiting for their arrival. Evening shows are very monotonous and second weeks repeats the first. We saw such poor management for the first time. The resort experience is very bad.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: The best resort that I have ever been to

Beautiful resort. Although it's huge everything was practically perfect. The rooms were cleaned every day, they also change towels and bed sheets daily. The staff was very nice and helpful. There were variety of food to take from the buffet restaurant and they were bringing things accordingly to the needs. Every thing was nicely and esthetically served. My husband only complained about the pork and beef that it was not very juicy. The highlight of the trip was the catamaran excursion and swimmi [... read more]ng with the dolphins which I would recommend. The dolphins were kept in ethical enclosures out at sea. I also enjoyed the daily evening entertainment. The actors were amazing.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great beach resort

We had an issue the first night upon arrival where there were no lights outside on the cobblestone to get to our room and this was reported but never fixed all week. Luckily, we found a shortcut and had a flashlight on our phone that we used to walk in the dark until almost to the front lobby. The 3rd night before our departure, the hotel ran out of red wine. For two nights, we had no lights in our hallway on the 3rd floor but the 1st and 2nd floor HD lights so it was reported to our Air  [... read more]Transat rep and it was repaired. The one beach snack bar was not open for the full 7 days of our trip so we only went once to the other snack bar but they ran out of plates and we had to wait for someone to walk on the beach and get more and they were just cleaned under running water, we did not see any soap being used. They should use paper or cardboard plates for the beach. Our rep was wonderful and made sure our room safe and air conditioning worked, which they did. We had a few burnt out lightbulbs and when I asked the housekeeper about it, she took one out a nearby table lamp and replaced it. I reported the balcony light being out all week but it never got changed. They might have had a shortage of light bulbs but we made do. There was seaweed on the beach and they had a sign saying they do not clean it up as they let Mother Nature take care of it. Overall, it was a great vacation with great sunshine and no rain all week.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Angsana Cayo Santa Maria Beach is Amazing

The trip from the hotel was fine. It didn't feel long on my way there as there was cold beer and I was so excited. The driver and assistant were pleasant and knowledgeable. On the way there though, there was no toilet paper on the bus. I got to the hotel and there was a very fast and pleasant check in. Their reception is lacking a large amount of change most of the time. To avoid anxiety, I would recommend maybe getting CUCs at the airport. I had to make multiple trips to reception over my 4  [... read more]night stay, as well as even ask the staff for change. The staff was amazing the whole time. They even went above and beyond such as making special off menu meals for my vegetarian self and provided me rice for wet electronics. The room was gorgeous and always clean. The maids make adorable towel animals and the fridge is always stocked by another employee. It was my bad for booking the room I did, the garden view as it was very lacking in scenery-- I should have upgraded. The service was quite slow at times. I even saw another guest actually almost leave without her breakfast as it was taking too long. Sometimes, I would go to multiple bars to get a drink because it was taking too long at 1. Bring a Bubba so you at least have to go up to the bar less. The beach was the best part of my trip--best beach I have ever been to. Bring water socks and water shoes though for exploring. There is a lot of white sand but there are also large rocks and coral in the water you will want to protect your feet from. Snorkeling was amazing all down the beach. I saw schools of fish--hundreds and hundreds, sting ray, star fish and barracudas! The entertainment was pretty lacking. So I wouldn't recommend this resort if that is what you are looking for. Their activity board is quite deceiving--it is not followed. Lastly, the food. I was always told by others to not expect anything of the food in Cuba. However, I went to Cuba last year to Paradiusus Rio De Oro in Holguin and the food was wonderful-- good quality and quantity. Here, the food was lacking. Mind, you I did travel in "off season" and so I am not sure if that's what the large difference was. I am also a vegetarian. The lack of vegetables was astounding. Most vegetables I ate were out of a can-- the same peas and carrots in most dishes. Then, the fruit... the papaya was probably the only ripe fruit and too ripe at that and the rest, the pineapple and watermelon were white.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great cozy resort , very welcoming!

I found the staff on the resort very friendly and hospitable .. the few minor concerns that we raised were addressed very quickly . The food was plentiful , lots of variety to choose from ; although they ran out of red wine mid way through the week 😐 The facilities in the resort itself ; rooms , lobby area , etc were kept very tidy . The weather was perfect , great week👍🏼

Memories Paraiso: Memories Paraiso 

Hi. I am definitely disappointed We are came on Friday, on the next day 300 Russians came! drinks & food was not enough for everybody, in the room (fridge) gave only 1 beer (we are 2 adults, what we suppose to do? One is drinking & the other is looking???). And towels.... they gave us 1 for 3 persons. No activity at all. The good thing is ocean!!! Beach was clean. By the way, room was clean as well.

Very clean, friendly and helpful staff, beach was clean and beautiful. Lots of food choices. The gym needed alot of new equipment, only one treadmill work but belt was ripped as well. Also needs sports equipment like tennis rackets and basketballs. But over all wonderful place.
