Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Awesome Resort

Beautiful new hotel and grounds. Plenty of wonderful smiling staff. Very clean hotel. Large rooms. Great food at the buffet and most of the restaurants. It was a big convenience to get free wifi throughout the whole resort and down to the beach as well as free calling to North America. Having a wrist band that was also a room key was great. The only negative things were the loud music at the adults only pool. Most of the time you couldn't carry on a conversation with the person next to y [... read more]ou. It was definitely hard to sit and quietly read a book and de-stress. Eventually we had to ask the entertainment staff to turn it down. There were far too many areas where people could trip and fall such as sidewalks on a steep angle and unmarked sidewalk drop off. Brown water constantly came out of the taps in the room. We did not use any of the extra services such as the spa due to the extremely high prices - higher that I've seen at any other resort.

Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters: Royalton white sands

The overall look of the Hotel is nice, clean and inviting as you drive up. The beach is nice but small on the White Sands side. You can't walk very far without being asked to buy smoke or souvenirs. Rooms were clean but our Room had a single adjoined door that you can hear conversations through...not very private. We had hot water all week and the rain shower is great although it would have been nice to have a bathtub as well. No 24hr restaurant or bar other than room service. We were told b [... read more]y many in our party it was an 1-1/2 to 2hr wait so we did not use this service. Food at the buffet...most food was cool or room temp unless you waited in line for the freshly grilled or sautéed pasta or meats. We did have a good time with our friends and enjoyed most of our stay. But Overall disappointed that it does not live up to the Royalton standards or it's five star rating.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Over the top resort!

The resort is huge!! Well manicured, impeccably clean rooms, restrooms, restaurants and pools and area. This is a resort where you don't have to worry about towels and tickets for towels. You can use as many towels at a time as needed!!! The beach is full of weeds, although they tried they're best to keep it clean. No big deal I guess?! Also the briefing was only about the tours and nothing about the resort, like checkout times, towels,late checkout or courtesy room?

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Highly recommend for families

Amazing resort. Food was fantastic at the buffet. High chairs readily available in all the restaurants. Swim out family suite was beautiful and perfect for us with an infant napping multiple times a day. Kids splash pool was the best set up I have seen for kids.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: 4 star not 4+

We just returned from the Royalton Punta Cana and had a reasonable stay. Unfortunately, we were caught up in a tropical storm and got 5 days of rain. We had previously stayed at the Majestic Elegance and found it to be far superior to the Royalton. While things were for the most part adequate, we found both the food and the service was just ok. The beach front is very small and crowded as it services both the Royalton and its sister property Memories which is situated behind it. While the r [... read more]esort boasts 10/11 restaurants (6 of which are at the Memories property) we heard the food was terrible at the sister location, so we stayed away. The sister property looks run down and we heard a lot of people complaining about it. The steak house at the Royalton was supposed to be the best, but it didn't take reservations which made it impossible to get into. Apparently, you need to line up at 6 pm and plead to get in. It seems that it takes guests from its higher end diamond club members, and the rest of the resort is left to vie for the few tables that are left. After numerous requests and lining up at 5:30, we finally made it in...but the meal was not worth all of our effort. The entertainment that is brought in from outside the resort was very good. Daytime activities are spread between both properties and we never really knew what was happening where. Considering that it rained all week, there was no real effort at activities to keep kids ( or even adults) busy. We never got to use the kids or the teens club as they were flooded due to the storm. Effort to entertain the guests during the storm would have been nice, instead we wandered the lobby and retail area. Finally, we found the push from the "vacation package" salespersons very annoying...it's not quite time share but a new concept of buying vacation packages for the next 15 years. They seemed to be around at every turn. I found the common areas of the resort to be very poorly lit...everything from the dining rooms, hallways and especially the lobby were all very dark. The grounds are nice and rooms are small but clean and tastefully decorated. I would rate this a 4 rather than a 4 plus...for future stays I'd rather return to the Majestic Elegance. Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Very nice resort

We were very satisfied and very impressed. The staff did all they could do to satisfy their guests. There was never a lineup for dinner or at any of the bars. It was quite windy and therefore not real hot at the beach but the pool was more protected from the wind and was warmer

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great vacation!

The resort was the best I've ever been to, clean, the staff was very helpful, the food amazing! Loved that you didn't need a reservation at the alacarte restaurants and that these were unlimited, this adds great value and is hard to find. The only complaint was that the resort was far away from everything.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Meh

The resort itself is very nice but one key comment that I kept looking over when I read the reviews is how poor the beach is; very weedy and water is brownish. Found a few of the staff at dinner to be quite rude. Our room smelt and the power kept going out, other then that it was pretty good.

We travelled with our friends and their young daughter of 4. Overall we were pleased and happy with our stay at the Royalton, However, we do have some comments that we hope will help you improve their offering. Sunwing: We tried to board early the Montreal to Cancun flight considering that parents  [... read more]with children are always called to do so prior to most of the other passengers. We were not pleased at all when the Sunwing employee at the gate reminded us in a very stern manner that she had not called for parents with children to board. We propose that this employee revectors her career where she will not deal with customers. The rest of the flight as well as the return flight were fine. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: The transfers from and to the hotel were fine. Upon arrival, at approximately 11:00 AM, we were graciously welcomed and checked in without any problem. The lady that checked us in did a great job to find us 2 separate rooms close to each other, our friends and us. We would like to propose, if possible, that the flight time from Montreal be delayed from 06:00 to 10:30/11:00 AM with an arrival time around 03:00 PM in Cancun in order to eliminate the 4 hour wait we had prior to accessing our rooms. Speaking of rooms, we would like to note that ours was not inspected prior to our arrival as the toilet bowl was not flushed by the last user and one of the sinks was blocked. Maintenance staff came promptly and fixed our problems. After check-in we were then met by a Butler who, as we gathered later, sole purpose was to convince us to purchase local tours, encourage local shops, etc. One of his first lines or sales proposition was that if we were ¨good¨ during our stay we would obtain greater benefits if we were to come back for another stay at the resort. Wow what a sales proposition, the resort does not think that you are worthy of such benefits now but if you behave they will really treat us better on your next visit. I think that the sale proposition of the resort show be to make sure that we really enjoy our first stay which should motivate us to later come back to the resort for another stay. More positive statement and not as derogatory. We were also recommended to attend the 1.5 hours ¨Welcome meeting¨ the next morning to again listen to the sales pitch of different vendors, we assumed, as we were already welcomed by the Butler. We declined to attend such meeting, returned the gift coupons offered to us upon arrival and released the Butler of his duties with us. He was very surprised by our decision and claimed that he may lose his bonus on account of our decision. Interesting comment! The hotel set-up is good and we liked the proximity of the beach with the pools and restaurants. The beach needs to be cleaned on a more regular basis to get rid of the ever-present algae. Food should be available on the beach. The entertainment is excellent and we really enjoyed the shows. The restaurants and bars were fine with a few exceptions. Le Marché was the best restaurant with its variety and quality of food and where we ate on a regular basis. Other good spots were the Mexican (Agave), the Mediterranean (Opa) restaurants. We were not impressed with the quality of food at the Caribbean restaurant and found the food at the Italian restaurant ordinary. Interesting note about the Italian restaurant, we were told that to be seated upstairs for dinner, we needed to purchase a bottle of wine. Never had such a condition imposed in all our traveling around the world, bizarre. Speaking of wine, to our knowledge we never saw, during our stay, anybody purchase a bottle of wine. I would think that is because the prices of your wines are exorbitant and in some cases 5 times the regular prices of the same wines in the SAQ in Quebec, I do not know about the LCBO prices. We would like to comment on the food at the Zen restaurant but were never able to get a reservation after 3 tries. The one area that is excellent is the staff at the resort. Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful Resort!

Resort felt very classy. Everything was very clean and well kept. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The beach was amazing! A good variety of food choices. They assign you a personal butler who helps you with all of your restaurant bookings and anything else you may need. Entertainment was great! It was a wonderful relaxing week. Would love to return!

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Nice place

The hotel overall was very nice to stay at. Would we go again? Yes we would. But, here are some thoughts. Last year we stayed at the Melia Buena Vista and in comparison the Royalton food was much better and so was the grounds and the entertainment. At the Melia Buena Vista it was quieter, the beach huts were nicer, and the water was nicer because you could do snorkelling and we love snorkeling, the rooms are much nicer, and the butler service seem to be better. Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Great family vacation

This hotel is modern with lots of amenities and a nice small size resort so it's quick to get around. We loves having access to the water park just a quick 5 min walk and the beach is one of the nicest we've been to. The food at the buffet was great. It's a nice place to relax.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Loved Royalton Resort

The grounds are beautiful and there were grounds keepers out every day keeping it that way. Also liked the size of the resort (never got lost even once lol ). The food was fine except for the beef. Why do they always over-cook the beef? Do they not know that the longer you cook beef, the tougher it gets. I found this at all the other resorts as well. A little lesson for the chefs is in order. Will be back again! Ed

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Best Resort

Amazing staff the people make this resort the best place I have been to in Cuba. Food was better than expected with a lot of variety including an amazing salad bar Rooms were spacious and the beach was fantastic

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Loved it

Every aspect of this resort in magnificent food, service, rooms, grounds, pools, beaches, and and entertainment. The only downfall which to us seemed very minor was that is not a "full adults only". The hideaway truly was however the resort was not, there is a family section in the complete other side of the large resort complex which you did share the main entertainment and restaurants with. I would recommend this resort to family other and friends

Amazing resort! It was clean and modern. The staff were unbelievably friendly and the food and entertainment was fantastic. The restaurant selection was amazing. The beach was lovey and clean too!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing Service and Staff

Service- butler staff, diamond club restaurant, beach jazz club all outstanding. Resort-beautiful gardens, the grounds staff take a lot of pride in what they do, the sunset side of the hotel gardens are stunning. Rooms- fridge stocked daily, clean sheets and towels daily. Rooms are good size, 2 person bath tub in the bathroom. Music-jazz club music-awesome. Beach-the best of the best, you can walk for miles. Diving-good, only available pending weather

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Nice place it was ok

It was ok nothing to brag about the food was 7 out of 10 grounds were clean I found there were to many hands out looking for tips then there were the peddlers very pushy and rude had to tee them to back off wasn't happy

Firstly, the service at this resort is top notch. From the moment we arrived we were amazed by the service we received from all of the employees. They were always making sure that we were having a good time and that we had everything we needed. Secondly, the food at this resort was fantastic. Everyone always complains about the food in Cuba, but the food was great. Always hot at the buffet, and always a nice variety to choose from. Overall, this resort is by far the best resort I've been to out of 5 different resorts in both Cuba and Mexico. We will definitely be going back again next year!

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort, Staff, AND FOOD!

My Wife and I had a fantastic time at the resort for our Honeymoon. We were there for 11 nights. I was mainly concerned about food quality, as typically I haven't had great success in Cuba. Well, the food was different every evening, and all quite delicious! Entire staff was helpful and friendly. Our toilet was broken off and on for about 6 days, but the technician and butler were quick to provide assistance. Beach was amazing - sand unparalleled.
