Las Palmas by the Sea: Good bang for the buck!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Las Palmas resort. Immediately upon our arrival we were welcomed by the staff and escorted to our room. The room was very comfy, with a balcony and view of the ocean. The only complaint about the rooms, would be the firmness of the beds; also the pillows were rather lumpy. However the cleaning staff were excellent, with washing the tile floors every morning, sweeping the balcony, and changing the bedding. We found the food to be excellent, with lots of  [... read more]variety for both meat lovers and vegetarians. There were always plenty of desert choices, along with great table service for bringing drinks and clearing off used plates. However, we were not impressed with the 'A La Cart' restaurant. Not only were reservations not required, but the service and food was secondary and NOT as good as that offered in the common eating area. There were two pools.....one being for adults, and the other for families, and both were very well maintained. The staff were always cheerful and polite, but many did not understand English, although that did not seem to be an impediment.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great Resort

I really enjoyed all aspects of this resort. The food was amazing. The staff friendly and nice. The room was great. The only thing I didn't like about it was the carts they drive around people in. There isn't enough room really for people and golf carts. They drive them very fast. And there are a couple without lights. They are electric so u can't hear them and they don't really slow down. As a parent I felt unsafe walking with my child in a stroller on those converted pedestrian sidewalks. And  [... read more]would run to get in the grass away from them. But all in all thumbs up.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Yes, it is an amailzing resore=t

I believe it was coming from the sewage, I think. I complained several times. After each time of my complain the smell disappear ... One day later the bad smell comes again. That was the only bad thing we noticed during our stay in this so beautiful resort. Every thing was perfect. We enjoyed our week and we recommended it to others. For us definitely we will go again.

Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort

Fantastic resort. From arrival every detail is thought out. Hot towels to greet you off the bus, welcome drinks and excellent front desk staff. The rooms are perfect. Mini bar was always stocked. Room service 24hrs a day. Gardens are beautiful with zen music playing throughout. Always something to do for the kids. Drinks and food great. The perfect size with great dining options at night. Loved the staff, friendly and hard working. Really wonderful stay. Thank you!

Riu Tequila: Excellent resort!

We had an amazing time. Spent 15 days in Riu Tequilla! Rooms are great, staff friendly, shuttle to the beach always working (does not run between 13:00-15:00), takes 5 min on foot to the beach from the lobby, beach is amazing! All in all, we are coming back!

Riu Yucatan: Amazing

The place is so clean!! I saw them scrubbing the outside.The staff is friendly all the time and the food was so good!!. There is a cauliflower ravioli that was... Awesome. I'd recommend this to anyone. So much to do.

Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: Excellent staff

The resort is probably the oldest Dreams we've been to therefore it is lacking some of the newer amenities ( i.e. wand in shower). It is situated on a large property which is remote from Cancun. Lots of flora and fauna and the odd Coati. The beach is walk-able.The staff will bend over backwards to make you happy. Great food, room average, nice location.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Twice Lucky, Great times

The Occidental at Xcaret Destination is a great place to visit especially if you like excursions they are so close to everything that you will never run out of things to do. The food is amazing, my favorite the Steakhouse went twice for the sirloin. The pool is huge with a great swim up bar the only down side to that is the wonderful waterfall over the bar it looks great but you can't get away from the bar without a watered down drink. The staff are always friendly and eager to help. The one dow [... read more]nside to this resort and I find it with many is the constant request to be a part of the vacation club, the "free" gift you will get but only if you do a tour and sit through a sales presentation. It gets tiring and eventually just a nuisance. But for good food, clean room, great swimming and even safe snorkeling on the beach the Occidental is perfect.

Riu Santa Fe: Beautiful resort

This resort was amazing! Pools were awesome service was amazing! The food at the restaurants were beyond delicious! Only down fall was that we were on the fourth floor and there was no elevators.. We got our exercise thought! I would most defiantly stay here again.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Wonderful Week In Paradise

This resort is close to perfect, the food, the staff, the comfortable rooms and winding pool made our week there the ideal for a recharge. The perfect place to be LAZY! Food – probably the best we have ever had while at a resort or even a cruise for the matter. I am not a fan of buffets so this was one of the reasons we choose this resort. There are many A la Carte restaurants to choose from, unfortunately one week was not enough time to try them all, but those we ate at were all wonderful. [... read more] They even offer a pool/beach food menu that will be delivered to your lounge or beach bed. Staff- This resort is well staffed and the folks that work there seem to really enjoy their jobs. Always smiling & offering a greeting. Rooms – I loved our suite, it was spacious & had lots of room for storage. The bed was comfy and the sheets & towels were changed daily. Our room was made up by lunchtime every day. The mini bar was also stocked daily and offered lots of choices. Wine, red & white, beers (a few different kinds), juice, pop & water. Also potato chips, snickers bars, M & M’s & Oreo cookies. Pools/Beach – I prefer a beach over a pool, unfortunately this beach was a disappointment. The water was murky & had bits of seaweed floating in it. There was also quite a bit of seaweed being pushed ashore, however the resort did a fabulous job of keeping this cleaned up. They have a tractor that rakes the sand and it is in use often. It was very windy when we were there so the waves were high and a couple of days red flags where on the beach. I am not sure if it is the time of year (November) or if this is the norm year round. The pools where fabulous! We spent our days at the winding river, I can’t stress how lovely that was. They provide floating rafts that you can paddle or just lay quietly on. You can even have drinks delivered to your floatie!! There are a few different pools to choose from, depending on how lively you would like your day to be, will dictate which pool you choose.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Beyond Expectations!

Pros - The beach was well managed with a bar, plenty of good quality loungers, palapas and landscaping. There are 2 roped off sections, but really no different and not a problem. There was drink service, although sometimes it was quicker to go up to the bar. Many of the palappas had one or 2 pegs so we could hang our stuff instead of placing bags on the sand. All of the palappas had tables. But best of all, the resort has at least 3 areas with breakwaters so we could swim in clear, relatively  [... read more]calm water. We snorkeled at bit, because there are lots of fish right there. - The buffet was so varied and well-presented, we really didn't need to go to a la cartes, but we did. They do change the buffet theme every day, but the variety I am writing about is the range of offerings. We took advantage of the unlimited a la cartes, and booked them all on the first night. We cancelled our last reservation so we could join the gala buffet at Sian Ka'an. This was even more sumptuous, with lobster, king crab legs and whatever you could imagine. - The resort also has an app and we could have booked with that. In any case it was convenient to check the app to remind ourselves about our reservations. The app also has the daily activities, which are posted on a board as well in the format of today and tomorrow plus the weekly theme days. - The lobby bar is in a theatre a bit to one side of the lobby. As well there is service in the lobby and outside. (Didn't go outside because of smoke.) An amazing touch is there was a self-serve hot beverages counter plus a self-serve bar with tequila shots. - Free wifi is only one continuous hour daily, so we needed to be efficient. This includes checking the Bahia app. Full daily wifi was $10/day. - The resort is so massive they have 62 trolleys to move people, and they are frequent and cheerfully flexible. In other resorts I have stood and watched some 'elite' trolley whiz by, but not here. We did need to use them to go to a couple of restaurants, plus to the Hacienda market to catch the Collectivo to Playa del Carmen. This is easily a 30+ minute ride and costs 40 pesos. The resort itself is at least 90 minutes from Cancun Airport. - Our room was in building 53, very centrally located between the lobby, buffet and beach. Although it was on the 3rd floor, we still couldn't see the ocean, but we could hear it. The bed was perfect, and we admit we slept better than we have in years, even though we have a pretty good bed at home. The last 2 nights the resort did get busier, and sleep was slightly interrupted. We enjoyed the mini bar offerings as well as the fruit bowl and tequila on arrival. - Staff was unfailingly available and kind. We appreciated the Orlando and Denis team at breakfast, and Alejandro (Rodizio?), and Teodomiro in (I think) the Fruto del Mar. Cons - None of the following is much different from any other resort, but here they are. - People were smoking on the beach as well as on the outside area of the lobby. A smoking section would be appreciated. - The closest beach toilets have only 2 stalls and are in the (beautiful) pool area. - Some parents tend to let their children bellow in the buffet. Some parents ignored their children as they played on the empty stage, even darting back stage. Most parents had simple, respectful dealings with their children. - Some male guest was earnestly videoing his sweetie during Zumba. (Not the only resort with these guys.) As a Jazzercise participant, I would be happy to get my music therapy and workout through Zumba or even Yoga, but grace is not my strength and I prefer not become someone's Facebook fool. If the instructor at least requested no filming at the outset, I would have participated. Conclusion - Well worth the trip!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good time

We had a great time, grounds are very clean and well kept. Service perfect ! Lobby excursion hassle, too much. The Grease (vasalina) show was the worst !! Left my dinner early to watch it, thought I'd be singing Grease songs but for some reason Ganga Stile song was played :( THE WORST SHOW ! I would go back in a heart beat !

Riu Flamingos: Great Trip

The Hotel was amazing, not as clean as previous years, the food and people were as always great, few things in the room were more annoying then anything got locked out once had to wait forever to get in, twice locked out of the safe, things that they tryed to hurry to do but not so fast mexican time. sunwing is not the plane to go, even with the elite seats they seperated us and row 1 was cramped stewardess were not the best if you dont want want to be one go to macdonalds

NYX Hotel Cancun: Super clean resort!

Excellent food! Everything is always super clean and most of the staff is pretty Nice! I have never seen a beach so clean :D The only downside might be that the pool close at only 8 PM and the latest bar close at midnight. Note : There's only one restaurant available for each meal.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta: Very Nice

Nice resort, I would go back but like anything there are pros and cons Rooms - nice decor, clean, typical size, comfortable bed, (if you have a room with a view) absolutely gorgeous views, beautiful sunsets, at night, a romantic moon lite ocean, Service - average, staff are polite and helpful but at the same time very lacking in the concerns of the guest, construction noise, jack hammering all week in the room across the hall, the bar fridge was only stocked 3 of 7 days which  [... read more]means no water to drink in your room, Food - adequate, the quality of food in my very well traveled opinion is that, it is below average for an all inclusive, one exception, on one night they put on a Mexican Fiesta and it was very good, the buffet was enclosed so no birds pecking at the food but still has flies flying around and landing on the food, two of the 4 restaurants are situated on the beach and have a beautiful ambience, some restaurants are closed on some nights. Resort Size - Small, not more than a 5 minutes walk to get anywhere in the resort, Location - Fantastic, isolated between two rock cliffs you have a very private beach yet, is only a 10 minute bus ride to Puerto Vallarta, Beach - Fabulous, Small surf, (obviously weather dependent) very little undertow, great for swimming, the beach has about a 20 foot shelf so you can walk out past the surf and be at a depth of only 5 to 6 feet, not a good beach for small children or non swimmers, water was clear 7 of 8 days, Pools - to small and impractical, beautiful to look at, but had very limited seating and were very crowded because there just isn't enough room Bars - are adequate, they could really use some live music Private functions, 5 of 7 night there were private functions which makes this resort even smaller because you can not use the facilities were the private functions are being held

Riu Vallarta: Nice resort but overall bad cutomer service

Just returned on Sunday November 6/2016 Needs serious upgrades, changes were made 3 times to make the situation healthy and comfortable, the staff at sport bars excellent , food OK Not at all satisfied with the service nor will we ever return to this one. Such bad customer service. Disapointed with this well deserved vacation

Grand Riviera Princess: Lovely resort

The resort was well kept and the staff were friendly. Happy for the a la carts as the Buffett was alright. The shows were ok but the place shuts down around 11. I was expecting more from the resort over all.

Riu Yucatan: Our Riu Vacation

The Riu Yucatan was nice. The staff very friendly. They were always smiling and readily available to help you. The food was very good and it was nice to have a small market close to the hotel. A seven minute walk. Perfect. I would go back anytime.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Perfect family resort

This hotel is amazing if you are looking for a simple low key property with lots of animals and endless fun for the family! Lots of restaurants to chose from, a water park plus pool and a beautiful beach.

Crown Paradise Club Cancun: Awesome resort

Like it all except the buffet could be better. Great entertainment staff as well as Wayne's boots restaurant. Would go back and enjoy the adults only section. Sadly renos being done although it wasn't in the buffet area when it should have been.
