The room was clean, however located right beside another resorts sewage station and construction noise. Evening entertainment was very limited and entry level. Food was acceptable but not great. There was more vultures trying to sell their privilege package than staff ensuring you were being looked after-very annoying. Front end customer service was very short and disengaged.

Riu Latino: One of the best Rius
We are travelers who have seen many resorts in the Carribean. Riu Latino is a newer resort very modern and managed extremely well. The services are excellent starting with the reception which is fast and efficient, the maid service which is very good, to the super stuffed and staffed buffet which offers choices from around the world. The 5 swimming pools are acommodating every need, with bars attached and excellent service. The only comment I could make is the walkway to the beach which is short[... read more] and exposes tourists to a 5 minutes walk in the heavy but beautiful white sand. The beach has some seaweed but it is cleaned daily and offers bar service by the hardworking team of the resort. Nexustours Reps are on site daily and efficiently manage all requests taking care of transfers and trips which does not happen in many resorts. The animation team is excellent and organizes all day events: the resort is a happy party place for most young adults. The A la carte restaurants are Ok is you are not dreaming about fine dining. A very good resort which I recommend to all adults as price value as well.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Bahía Sian Kaan
I’d highly recommend Sian Kaan for anyone looking for an adults only resort. It was compact and intimate with excellent service. The staff all seem to be well trained and attentive. The beach on Akumal and Tulum side were covered in seaweed emanating a nasty odour. That was the only downside. It’s all 5 star minus the beach.

After reading some of the reviews about it being way too hot and air conditioning not working I was worried. All the restaurants and lobby had ac working just fine. The service was exceptional. I would book this resort again in the future. Great food!

Riu Dunamar: Clean resort
The hotel is very clean and safe feeling. It was small compared to the Moon Palace, but was great for walking from place to place. Lots of beach loungers and pool loungers available throughput the day. The seaweed is not that bad here. The activities for the teens were managed to allow for them to stay busy

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Will Return
We loved the resort -- the staff were absolutely amazing, especially our maid Sebastian who went above and beyond to decorate our room for my daughter's birthday - he made things really special for us. The entertainment was the best we've seen and we have been to a lot of all inclusive's. We loved our room and we loved the monkeys and wildlife on the resort. The food could be better but there was always something to have.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: A little disappointing
Family of 6. 3 rooms booked. Buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner were good. Wish the dinner buffet would switch up themes as there’s only one buffet for dinner. When we arrived we went to Book restaurants and they had nothing available. Which was super disappointment because we were there celebrating a birthday. Which they knew and did nothing for or about. We did end up booking the Asian, Mexican and carnal. Two of us got sick from the habacchi restaurant and Mexican restaurant early in the w[... read more]eek. We frequent Mexico sometimes twice a year and never have sickness so this was a red flag for me so we just stuck to what we know and cancelled the other restaurant we had booked at the end of the week. The menus for the restaurants were not great either. AC stopped working In one of the rooms. It took 3 days to finally move rooms. Resort is big but leads you to a whole lot of nothing. Beach was disappointing I know that’s not in their control but the pictures online were still very deceiving and they weren’t really doing much to clean up UNLESS you are a member of course and their side of the beach is spotless…Rooms were ok. Ants everywhere. No hot water in our last day as we all had to take freezing showers to be ready for the airport. I believe there was still none when we left. Pool service was very few and far between every single day. Tip or no tip. Pools were ok. Nothing crazy. All of them quite far apart. We didn’t visit one pool they had at all. The resort is big but then the pool areas for sitting around the pools are very small? If that makes sense. We had to be up at 730 To get a spot you really want. The monkeys were adorable if you get to see them so that was a highlight. Very far from the airport which we knew as we’ve stayed at the Bahia principe akumal but for some reason this travel felt so long. It was going to take 2.5 hours back to the airport and getting up at 5am for that transportation or of course pay $50 for private 6am transport and it take 1.5 so we paid it obviously. They do have a room tax of $17 USD when you check in. I also paid the departure tax before arriving in
Mexico which I have to say I’ve NEVER done. No one asked me about it … so that was $140 for all 6 of us probably down the drain. All in all won’t be back but we never double dip resorts anyways but definitely the more disappointing one.

Catalonia Yucatan: Great Resort!
I recently stayed at Catalonia Yucatán Beach during a solo vacation in Cancun, and overall, it was a beautiful and memorable experience. The hotel itself has a charming, cozy vibe, and the atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming. The staff were absolutely amazing—always friendly, helpful, and kind. As a solo traveler, I ended up meeting a lot of great people, which really added to the enjoyment of my trip.
However, I did run into a few issues during my stay. The rooms, while decent, felt[... read more] a bit dated. When I first checked in, there was a noticeable smell in the room, which was a bit off-putting. That said, the room service was excellent—they cleaned and set the room perfectly every day, which made a big difference.
One of the bigger challenges was around the restaurant access. Catalonia Yucatán Beach shares facilities with Catalonia Riviera Maya, and it wasn’t always clear which restaurants we were allowed to go to. This led to some frustrating moments, especially since many of the friends I made were staying at the Riviera Maya side, and we often couldn’t dine together due to access restrictions. This lack of clarity and limitation definitely took away from the experience.
Additionally, the Mexican restaurant on site wasn’t quite up to the mark in terms of food quality.
Despite these issues, the people, atmosphere, and beautiful location made it a truly special trip. With a few improvements to the room quality and better communication around restaurant access, this hotel could be even better.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing Resort
This resort was truly amazing as me and my friend had the best time. The resort is beautiful. What really made this resort so great is the staff. The staff were so nice and helpful which made my stay special. The entertainment team was excellent and were a lot of fun! You also get to visit the other resort on property which is great because you get to explore and not just be stuck on your resort.

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Nice but not for us!
I used to be a travel agent and I really enjoyed inspecting this property in 2015. My partner and I decided to give it a shot on a short 4 night stay in early April. We got an amazing price for the ROH room with Transat Holidays, and booked a direct transfer through USA Transfers so we could go straight to the hotel. We arrived in the mid morning on a Thursday and I've never been admitted to a country so quickly.... we were honestly off the plane and had our passports stamped in under 15 minutes[... read more], the longest part of the process was waiting for the transfer.
Hotel arrival and check-in: We arrived and were greeted in the lobby with cold towels and sparkling wine. They took our luggage and we walked up to the front desk, where we were informed that because we booked the ROH room we had been provided a partial oceanview room with two double beds, but we were offered to upgrade to a Preference honeymoon category and declined. Our room wasn't ready, but we were asked to come back at 3pm. We were able to change into resort wear and grab some lunch at the Sea Salt grill and enjoy the views while we waiting for our room to be ready, which it was at 2pm.
Room: we had room 1512, overlooking the Sandos side. I would recommend requesting a room facing the Hard Rock instead, as there are loud exhaust fans that blow an air fryer smell, though that didn't deter us from spending a lot of time reading on our balcony and enjoying the view of the ocean and the lagoon. The room was spacious with lots of storage. The bathroom is frosted glass walls around a separated shower stall and toilet (it's not exceptionally private, so if you're not travelling with your partner you may want to hang out on the balcony while your roommate is using the washroom), and two sinks. The hair dryer worked well, and the shower had a rain shower and regular head with separate controls, plus body wash, shampoo, conditioner and bar soap. We only had issues with hot water on the day that we arrived, all other days the water was hot and there was lots of it. We did have a slight sewage smell coming from our toilet on the last day.
Food: we enjoyed the taste of everything that we ate, and the breakfast buffet was really impressive. We ate at the Dragon, Nebbiolo, Bluewater Grill, and Sea Salt Grill while we were there. We enjoyed the food the most at the Dragon restaurant and least at Nebbiolo. We did find that the Nebbiolo and the Bluewater Grill were quite warm, while the Dragon restaurant had the AC blasting. We arrived each night at 6pm and had no issues getting seated. I'm a pescatarian and my partner is a lactose free and we were able to find a lot to eat, and it also appears that the menu has gluten free and vegan options. You can get to go boxes at the buffet for lunch, and there's a limited (if you don't eat meat) snack bar at Barefoot Grill. We did both get sick while at the resort, which was unfortunate as our trip was so short. My symptoms were consistent with food poisoning (nausea and stomach cramps). It's the first time I've ever been sick at a resort in Mexico, so it was probably more bad luck than anything.
Entertainment: The evening entertainment was actually really great! We were impressed that most of the evening shows were performed live (not lipsyncing), and even enjoyed the music that was available in the lobby before the evening show. Our favourite was the Queen tribute band and the Tropicana show, unfortunately we did not get to see the full suite of shows at we weren't there a full week. The daytime entertainment seemed to be fun, but it was too much for us. Lots of loud music, lots of activities going on and we prefer a resort to be more relaxing during the day. This resort seemed to have more of a party crowd, and the music reflected that. They had live bands down by the pool bar in the afternoon, and that seemed to be popular.
Shade/chairs: the days we were there it was INCREDIBLY windy, so it was impossible to open the umbrellas. All the chairs with the best shade were taken early in the morning, but there were still a lot of available chairs in the sun around 8-9 am. We set up on the couches by Barefoot grill so that we could have full shade but still see/hear the ocean while reading our books. Bring a hat with a chin strap or a head band to keep the hair out of your face lol There are cabanas that you can rent but they were too expensive for us. :)
Pools: The pools were nice, though we only went in once. The water was chilly at first, but the actual temperature was quite pleasant. They aren't very deep (but I'm 5'7"). It was really easy to get a towel, and they had them available at different areas.
The drinks: They had decent house wine, and there was a lot of variety for reds which was nice (merlot, cab sauv, malbec). They also serve beer in cans and you can choose which brand you want from Heineken, Dos Equis, Tecate, etc. We did the included wine tasting (available at 1pm and 3pm) and it was one of our favourite daily activities.
The lobby: before going we had read some complaints of a sewage smell in the lobby. I could smell it very faintly. I also read complaints about the lobby being too hot, and while it was warm it wasn't uncomfortable. They use diffusers in the lobby and the smell is really strong, so if you're sensitive to scents in can be overwhelming.
The staff: All the staff we interacted were fantastic! They do a great job, and they're super friendly. 10/10 for the staff. Our maid was also lovely.
Overall: if you're looking for a lively adults only resort in Cancun, this is a good choice... it's not a party resort, but it's not quiet either. It wasn't our scene and we won't be back, but we may try a different Secrets property in the future if we can fit it in our budget. All in all, for the price we paid I would say that this resort was great value.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Excellent resort for couples!
I loved this resort. Everything was in place and along the path to the reception. Enchanting pools, especially at night, with dimmed lights and multiple small bars hidden among them, quiet villas, away from the entertainment area, where privacy and quiet time helped me recover from the stress of the big city. The food is great, and all services are impeccable.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great resort for the health conscious who want an adult only getaway.
Great service, food and a lot of shade from the trees and jungle like vibe. Quieter and more secluded it has an intimate vibe. Good bar, big rooms and the garden room was big and spacious. The fact there was not too much entertainment and parties was a plus for us. Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: 10 Days Of Heaven
This was our 10th time at the resort. Fully renovated. There are some quirks to smooth out. The food was great but the buffet had the same spread throughout the entire 10 days. The beach was quiet but the seaweed was not managed so it was very smelly and very little swim area.
