Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Wonderful resort

The Grand Aston was a great resort. It was very clean and the workers were wonderful. Friendly atmosphere. The gym had very modern equipment (No dumbbells though). Showers were very powerful and had plenty of hot water. Food was pretty good. Couple stray dogs around but they were friendly too. :)

Memories Paraiso: Very disappointing

We visited the resort Nov 21-28/19. This was our second stay. The first was 7 years ago and at that time the resort was amazing so we decided to go again. It was bad from the start this time. An over eager trolley driver rushed us into a room which had not yet been properly cleaned. We found only one beach towel and tried unsuccessfully for the next 4 days to get the second one in order to avoid being charged for it at check out. When we mentioned the leak to our travel rep he immediately promised to help us get our room room changed and told us we would be in a new room that evening. When we went to the desk to complete the room change, the woman working did absolutely nothing to assist us, not even checking to verify our claims. The next day when we explained this to the travel rep, he went straight to the customer service manager and arrangements were made through her to definitely get it done that night. We were upgraded from our standard room to a larger room with a balcony-it was very nice room-without a leaky sink and we finally got the second beach towel. But the customer service manager had promised us a special dinner at one of the a la carts on our last night. We arrived for this dinner at the agreed time, expecting something special to make up for the inconvenience we tolerated. But instead no one knew anything about the supposed arrangements made by the customer service manager. It seems this department is very poor in communication-a team is only as good as their leader. Over all, this trip was disappointing. We had arrived with high expectations based on a previous visit only to come away feeling that this once 5 star resort, now claiming to be a 4 star should actually be listed as a 2 1/2 or maybe 3 star resort.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Fantastic Vacation!

Beautiful resort. Well kept grounds, food is great, lovely room and staff always available to assist in any way. I have mobility issues and needed rides to and from the restaurants, we just called and had a ride within minutes. This was our 6th time to Cuba, safe and amazing trip each time!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Very good Resort

Playa Cayo Santa Maria is nice resort. Clean room, good food, beech beside, staff friendly. Ocean was not calm all time, but weather was great, even you could swim in rough ocean (if you can swim). If you don not swim you can enjoy swim pool with verity of cocktails and rom.

Paradisus Los Cayos: A very tidy and upscale resort

This hotel complex was immaculately clean and very nice to stay at it. It was well laid out and easy to negotiate the huge layout. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. The food was okay and a nice variety.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Nice resort.

The people are the greatest at the resort. the water and the beaches are great. I and several others were sick for 3 days from the ice, food? Others on the previous tour before us were sick as well. The food is not the greatest. My biggest complaint is the two plus hours standing in line to check our bags at the Sunwing lines at the airport when leaving. No air conditioning and poor service there.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Great Resort!

We loved our stay at the Grand Aston. The resort was well maintained, the food was great. Credit has to be given to the staff who were amazing, they really made your visit enjoyable. Looking forward to going back.

Memories Paraiso: Stay elsewhere.

Good: weather, beach, service and price. Bad: had to change room because of ants in bed, balcony and hotel lobby smell like sewage. Ugly: today is the 4th day my friend and I have to stay near by a toilet, uncooked seafood:-(

Melia Las Dunas: Not good as it was

I was at this resort 2 years ago Dec 2017. Was much, much better. Was recomended at that time by my parents. They were before there and liked. This year Nov, 2019 we decided to go all together to celebrate our 3 birthdays. 1. Food was bad. Was a lot'a of spoiled products. Like cheeses, yougurts, some fish, pizza made with bad cheese, even some bread and deserts. Have to be very carefull what to eat. Was no shripm at all this time. Last time I ate only seafood at my last visit. 2. Service: Ha [... read more]ve to go and ask 3 times to give me extra blanket. Even after my explanation gave wrong one. I asked for light, gave me warm one. We had 3 beds in the room for 3 people and only 2 blakets 3. Room cleaning was good. Girl who cleaned the room made some toys all the time with towels and flowers my kids loved it 4. Beach: good, almost no seaweed. But you have to come at 7-7.30am to get chairs after breakfast no chairs left 5. Show: was ok. 6. People who made coffee and drinks at the bar didn't want to give menue of drinks. Before menue was all the time available on the table and you can choose the drink. 7. I found the persons at the kitchen, bar don't care and were kind of angry at clients I been at that resort before everything was much better even show and animation team. My parents, my kids and I was disapointed at that time. Before it was the best resort. Now its not 5 stars its like 3 stars. Will I recommend it now. Probably not. Before I was recommended to all my friends and left very positive reviews. Now I have to leave bad one😞. I dont like to leve bad reviews, but have too now. Our celebration was kind of spoiled with bad service and food. Want to tell to people who go there please smell and try food before you start to eat it. Some cheese was so bed had fungus on it. We went to manager to show it. They change it. But next day put it back. Probably was thinking that we left and made pizza with it. The smell was like stinky old socks. Now my kids hate pizza just from smell pizza at the resort.

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful Resort with lush tropical landscaping!

The hotel is well maintained and clean. The outside walkways between buildings are beautifully landscaped with all the fowering bushes and trees. The staff are very friendly and courteous. The food I would give 2/5 rating at the buffet and sad rating of 0/5 for all of the a la carte restaurants. We would not eat the food and would end up going to the buffet afterwards. The only exception was the lobster dinner which was an additonal 22 cucs. But it was well worth it When we arrived  [... read more]in our room upon check-in our toilet would not flush. I requested another room which was no problem for them to arrange. But, our next room was almost as bad. We had to fill the bathroom garbage can with water from the tub and pour it into the bowl so it would flush properly. Anyways we stayed in the room and just lived with the situation. Sort of disappointing. The beach was the best I have seen so far in Cuba. Loved it! Kayaked too. I would not recommend this resort solely on the lack of good food.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Grand Sickness in Cuba

It's difficult to have a Fun Vacation when it becomes a Sick Vacation! My wife and I , and possibly 40 percent of the remaining guests were violently ill and spent two and a half days in the loo.The causes after discussions with other sick guests were many: tainted food,contaminated ice at the bars,contaminated glasses,improperly and unhygienic public bathrooms,questionable water etc. etc.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Our favourite, time and time again

For us, the best vacation resort. Beautiful people staff this complex. Beautiful beach and gardens too. There is always something good to eat at each meal and for snacks too. We are going back with our grandchildren this summer. We always book with Debbie at tripcentral.ca

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Awesome Beach

The Grand Aston is a beautiful well laid out resort. Grounds are immaculate, rooms very clean with generous balconies, and the beach is stunning! Food is typically Cuban, we had some delicious meals and some misses. We enjoyed al a cartes 5x for dinner with a rotating menu. We wish the pizza oven was fired up in the snack bar for lunch. Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Had a great experience at this resort!!

We had a great time during our stay at this resort, the breakfast could do with a little variety but there was plenty to choose from and was pleasant. The lunch at the snack bar and the grill was great, made to perfection and they try their best to take good care of you. *** warning be there early or you may run short of soup or other choices as they run out pretty fast. For some reason the week we went had shortage of shrimps but no big deal as we had crabs,calamari and lobster at the international restaurant. The beach was great and plenty of seats to sit during the day as it stretched about a good 100 m in length to choose from. The night entertainment could do with more variety but they do a pretty good job with other user interactions events prior to the main event. The pools I believe had 5 to choose from and it was nice and clean, the bar had plenty of options to choose from, I did lose my watch and was able to locate them in the lost/found section of the hotel. The internet services or wifi is definitely better/faster than our previous trips and they provide7 hours of free surfing for the entire week for every adult living there, the wifi service was great throughout the hotel but was missing at the beach. *** the only blip I was say is the commute from the airport to our resort was a good 1 hour and 40 minutes Overall I had a good time with family and would definitely recommend this resort to anyone.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: 3 out of 5 stars

My husband and I stayed at this resort for 7 days. The first day we arrived late at night, and the long drive from the airport in Santa Clara (1 hr 20 mins) had up slightly impatient, but let me start by saying that the grounds were beautiful of course, and the resort is newer and very modern. We stayed in building #2 on the main floor. There were some perks about this as it was close to the lobby, basically right next to it. And amongst the lobby were some of the a la carte restaurants and the  [... read more]main buffet, as well as the pools and main bars. The downfall of being in building #2 is that it's so far away from the beach. The only beach access at the moment is between buildings #9 and #10. You can also grab a ride in the "golf cart" from the lobby to the beach, but that almost seemed like more waiting than just walking. The beach was nice a long, you could walk around the bay all the way to the other tip of the peninsula where they are currently constructing the last two resorts that will be build on the island. The beach is a bit shell-y at the main entrance, but it does get better the closer you get to the beach bar and the further down the beach you go. It does make for some good shell hunting though. While we were there we did not swim in the ocean, only because we'd rather sun bathe or be at the pool side... But we did hear of some jelly fish sightings and the waves seemed to be washing up a lot of shells and coral. We also did not see any bathrooms too close to the beach. I believe the closest bathroom is near the pool that is closer to buildings #14 and #15, which we only really discovered on our last day because we never walked that far down the resort. My guess would be that it was about a 1 km walk from building #2 or even the lobby, all the way to the beach. Which isn't terrible, just not entirely ideal if you like being closer to your room. The pools were nice and clean. And during our stay in mid-November, there weren't very many people at the resort so there were always pool loungers and beach loungers available. We asked one of the employees why it seemed so quiet and he said that we were going to get up to 200 guests at the resort during that one day... We noticed a slight increase in guests but it was short lived as the following day a group was leaving, so it was not very busy during this time and was almost strange that it was so quiet. The food in the buffet was ok... My husband is kind of picky so he wasn't too impressed, during breakfast we ate waffles and omelets, which were prepared in front of us rather than sitting in a warmer. My husband still found the the food had a different taste because of the oil they use, but it didn't really bother me. We were warned in advance to bring ketchup, so we did, however this resort had ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise so we didn't really use ours. We ate all of our lunches at the snack bar, as the lunch buffet only opened at 1pm. The menu was small, but the food was alright. We basically lived off of ham and cheese grilled sandwiches for lunch all week. The funny thing was that they didn't often have french fries. They served their meals with "banana chips" which are plantains and we're really good, but the last few days we were lucky and got actual hand cut french fries. The snack bar also served the best drinks in the whole resort. There were two bartenders who worked there the week that we were there (an older gentleman and a younger one) ((side note:: strange thing about this resort is that no one wears name tags)) they served the best cappacinos and rum and cokes. Like I mentioned that the lunch buffet was only open at 1pm, the dinner buffet didn't open until 7pm, which if you're traveling with children I would imagine could be a problem... Now the snack bar is open 24 hours so you could just eat there all day, but if you wanted a decent full meal you'd probably want to book an a la carte that was available for reservation as early as 6:30 which is slightly more reasonable... For the most part the a la carte meals were good. We only ate at the buffet one or two nights only because we didn't wasn't to repeat the a la carte that was open that evening... There was only one a la carte open a night, French, Italian, Asian and Cuban were the only ones offered during our stay. I do believe we heard that they did change the menu during the week though, so if you wanted to go to French twice because it was opened more than once that week, the odds are the menu would be different so you'd be able to have a different meal than the time before. All the menus included an appetizer, a soup and a main course, and then of course your choice of dessert. One positive comment from my husband was that the ice cream was bang on. Most of their sweets were really good and their breads too, if they were fresh... They seemed to serve stale bread from the day before so you had to be careful when choosing buns and bread. We found the coffee to be a bit strong, but still good. Cappacinos were made from a machine in the main buffet but like I mentioned before, the snack bar had the best, they were made from steamed milk and espresso. On another note about food, they don't offer room service. During the evening's there was almost always live music in the lobby leading up to the 9:30 show in the theater which was off the lobby. The music was good and the entertainment team was always trying to get people up to dance. There was a middle aged man there who must have been a dance teacher because he would bring women up to dance and teach them all the steps. It was a nice atmosphere to have drinks after dinner, the only down fall is that it was the only place to really do this. As another note, the lobby area seems to be the only area where the staff would come ask you if you wanted drinks. The pool and the beach did not include this service. You had to go to the bars if you wanted drinks. We only attended two of the evening shows and one was the Michael Jackson tribute, which was pretty amazing! The impersonator (not sure if it was one of the regular entertainment team members or someone who does shows across the island) was bang on! He must have studied MJ's manuerisms because he nailed it! The other nights we just ended up either in bed early or chatting with another couple that we had met and didn't notice that we missed the show. On the third day in, my husband got sick, he spent half the day in bed with a sore stomach and frequent visits to the bathroom. While we kept to ourselves that day, we later learned that other people had similar symptoms. Later in the week I started to have some symptoms but Pepto Bismul seemed to really help. During our stay the weather wasn't always nice, we had about 3 days of all day sun, and the other 4 days were overcast or raining. It got cool in the evenings and there was some wind almost every day, which was good during the sunny days but often cool during the overcast days. We didn't do any excursions as the historical ones we were most interested in doing required us to travel back across the cosway which was about 40 minutes. There were other excursions by cadmaran but we opted not to go. We were later told that the best cadmaran excursion to get your money's worth was the sunset cruise which is a cadmaran drive to the dolphin enclosure to watch the sunset, where they serve lobster dinner and there's an open bar. You stay fully dressed and just enjoy the evening. The staff on the resort were very friendly and they even commented on how they feel like a family. They seem to enjoy their jobs and were very pleasant to talk to. Most of the serving staff spoke decent English, some better than others, but most were good and you could chat a bit with them. Whether you tipped the servers or not they were still equally as nice. We had reason to believe that they all share their tips. There were boxes all around the buffet and the bars where you could deposit your tips rather than leave them in the tables. We believe that they have officially done away with the CUC currency during our stay, but best to check for more official documentation before traveling. We found out in the airport on our way home. It seems like they'll be accepting USD as a main means for tipping as they don't accept CAD coins. Unless you are able to get Cuban Pesos. Our overall stay was nice, it was a warm get away which we spent lazing by the pool soaking up the sun.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing staff at the resort

Our experience with this resort was terrific although they are updating things and doing some painting, we were never disturbed. The room was clean and quiet and the staff who cleaned our room was efficient and left many nice touches. The beaches were beautiful and quick to get to. Lots of shade and sun. Beautiful sand and the staff on the beach were quick to help every morning. The food was plentiful and good. Lots to choose from and again the staff was quick to help and kind to speak t [... read more]o. The bar staff was amazing! They were knowledgeable and shared their cultural experiences with us. We will definitely go back and if you get the chance, go into their towns nearby. We enjoyed our day exploring the Cuban culture. Also bring American currency for tipping. Please remember to tip the staff, they depend on it!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great place to go.

My g/f and I were here for a week in November. The resort was well kept, the beach was beautiful. The food is like anywhere in Cuba, not fantastic but we always found something to eat so that wasn't a big issue. What made the trip great was the staff, everyone from the maids to the bartenders to the serving staff, all very welcoming and kind. We would definitely recommend this resort to others.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Not recommended if you want to eat

If you want to lose weight...come here...food is repetitive with limited selection even by Cuban standards.... first in line at dinner...and the food which should have been hot was cold! Coffee maker is great to have in your room...too bad there was no coffee available to put in it(I gave up after 3 requests) Minibar....not stocked... apparently there was "a problem at the factory".... Beware using resort store...billed on 2 separate credit cards despite paying cash for purchase as I was told the POS terminal did not accept both of my cards. Pros Grounds are very well kept Gardener was very pleasant and friendly as was the pool bar staff and generally all employees (except front desk) Beach was nice, however only 1 of 3 beach bars were ever opened(oops my wife made me add that) Conclusion Yes it's Cuba.... however there's no excuse why minimal quality standards cannot be met! To Management: Don't promote what you cannot provide!

The staff is the best !!Great people we also liked the food. They had good seafoods and fish.Drinks where very good. The entertainement team was nice ! Made a lot of friends. We will go back for sure.

The resort itself was spotless. The staff worked hard to keep the resort looking good and the were all very friendly. The room was really nice and the staff who cleaned the room did an excellent job. I would go again.
