Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Wonderful Vacation

This resort is very beautiful. The staff were very friendly. The rooms were wonderful and we paid extra for an ocean view which was well worth it. I liked the fact that the balcony was in the shade.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Bang for your buck

Considering the economic situation in Cuba right now, and many complaints from visitors, the staff remain in such high spirits, and are doing their best with what they have. Low on supplies, including toilet paper, and some amenities need repairing in hotel rooms, such as shower heads. But the staff and breathtaking beach makes up for it.

Brisas Guardalavaca: great resort

All the grounds and public areas were very well kept. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunatly only 2 of the 4 alacart restauarants were open at a time due to the lack of tourists. Travel agents should be recommending this resort.

Hotel Rancho Luna: 2025 February

Weather 19-30, not much wind, very few rains. Transfer from hotel was a full hour late. No one cared. Room - bad. AC was making noise, nothing else. Permanent odor from sewer. Corners' dirt of many years. Water was OK, warm and cold. Electricity was shouting down all the time, but for minutes. TV shows nothing and in a very bed quality. All bulbs and remotes were OK. Food - bad. Horrible sausage everywhere. Sometimes no eggs, bread, meet. Poor choice of fruits and vegetable. No fish. No oil [... read more]. No souses. No cheeze. Quality of everything was very low. Pool - big and clean, but painfully noisy. Beach-OK, but better to have shoes. Internet - only in a noisy bar area. Bar - very poor, but coffee was good. Weekends are full with noisy, voracious locals.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Loved Our Stay!

We approached our trip with an open mind, considering the resort's age and the ongoing food shortages Cuba has been facing. Let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations. While the resort is older, it’s impeccably maintained, and the lush, beautiful grounds are a real highlight. The oceanfront restaurant offered the most amazing fish & chips, paired with a view that you truly need to see to appreciate. The beach also provided fantastic snorkeling opportunities. A fun tip is to fill an empty water bottle with small pieces of bread to feed the fish—they absolutely love it! Without a doubt, we would return to this stunning resort. Melia Las Americas: A Diamond in the Rough Resort!!!

Whether you're an avid golfer or not, this resort is a guaranteed great vacation in Varadero, Cuba! We had a wide variety of food items to choose from everyday and lots of beverages to wash it all down! There were lots of activities to choose from and great quality entertainment on most days. The service is pretty good and the staff are all very friendly! And of course - The Beaches are Awesome! Can't wait to go backl

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful Beach

The resort is beautiful but starting to look run down. They used to get a lot of rewards but none in the last 8 years. There is a reason for this. The entertainment was 5/10 and ridiculous that they had prepubescent looking girls entertaining one evening. It actually made me sick. The workers have become passive and complacent. This is not surprising given the average wage is $20 AMERICAN per month. Their preference for American money was no less than insulting. When we tried to tip in CANADIAN dollars, because 75% of tourists in Cuba are CANADIAN, 4/5 workers asked if we had AMERICAN dollars. Money from the country that has imposed an embargo on you. Really? I admit that I'm a picky eater but did find something edible at each meal. Of course I washed it down with some very good beer and rum. (Best part of each meal.) The 24 hours snack bar has better service and food than the buffet. The day trip to the nearest town is A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME! Don't do it. (Only $5 AMERICAN per person that pays for the bus going to that shitty town full of underfed horses and men wearing cowboy shoes and hats.) Another "package" or excursion offered is a VIP service on your last day with a "guided tour" in the city of Holguin, dinner at the top of the city (no choices, you get what they cook) and drop off at the airport while you wait in the VIP lounge. $100 (AMERICAN of course) per person. Holguin is full of beggars and the guided tour lasted 5 minutes. You are better off staying at the hotel that day and enjoying the pool or beach. I would only recommend this resort if all you're looking for is a good beach and decent pool and lots of alcohol. I will not go back to Cuba until their government works out better importing and exporting deals with their allies and there is a reformation of their government policies. Good luck to all the people of Cuba. The sun is beautiful, but you can't eat sunshine. They need more sustenance and help.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: AMAZING

IT WAS A GREAT PLACE, AMAZING PEOPLE AND STAFF STAFF.WERE WONDERFUL GREAT ATMOSPHERE GREAT ENTERTAINMENT. WE WERE A GROUP OF 19 PEOPLE THEY ACCOMODATE US IN THE RESTAURANTS. PEOPLE THERE ARE VERY NICE AND HELPFUL, I HAD MY ADULT SON WHO USES A WALKER , MOST OF THE THINGS WERE ACCECCABLE ( EXCEPT THE SANDY BEACH I WILL GO BACK THERE EVERY YEAR! IT HELPS TO BRING SMALL GIFTS TO GIVE AS TIPS ,IT IS HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

Melia Las Antillas: Relaxing , good food

Some rooms not used , hotel was not at full capacity. Food was plentiful and drinks were good . Staff is friendly and rooms were clean . We did move from the first room as it was very run down and musty but second room was good

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Second Time At This Resort

There is really nothing that stands out as negative. I cannot say enough about the hotel staff. We are going back next winter for sure. Food is hugely improved over last year. I am told they are buying more produce from Mexico and Colombia. There was even asparagus and broccoli some nights. If they can build on this then that would be great. It would be helpful if they could point out gluten free and dairy free options in the buffet but there is always someone to ask. The only other suggestion w [... read more]ould be to install proper locks on the beachfront restrooms. A rock on the floor does not cut it :)

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Super resort

To begin with I’m handycuped and got a room with walking shower and grab bar all over. The room itself is big and kept very clean,our cleaning lady Reisa was very efficient and pleasant . The grounds are beautiful and the little golfcarts take you wherever you want to go. Now to the dining The Buffet dining has plenty of food and they have 3 Specialty Restaurants. The bars are well stocked.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great resort!

The resort was beautiful. Beaches were like a post card. Staff were amazing, supper friendly and kind. Coffee every morning was delicious. Rooms were perfect. Had water in the fridge and new towels everyday. Would definitely go back.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Disaster vacation

For starters the flight was delayed by 28 hours. We finally arrived at the resort late, then we went to the “snack bar” which only had half cooked patties/boiled hotdogs with no buns, ketchup or mustard which was false advertising so we got sick our first night. The next day during breakfast we were hoping to replenish all the food we threw up the night prior and realized they were yet again short of everything with slim to no options. I tried getting bacon and it was raw. The fish and meat the [... read more]y only cook on one side and when we asked for it to be flipped they blatantly ignored us which is super disrespectful. As a non alcohol drinker they only ever had “orange Fanta” which was super watered down. during the duration of the trip we still didn’t have regular items that were advertised on the Sunwing website. My wife got a water and it had some sort of mold or gunk in it and it made her sick on our catermaran excursion. We got scammed when taking out money from the atm at the resort for Cuban pesos saying they didn’t have usd or cad. The hotel advertises that they can exchange multiple currencies. Then when we decided to go use the money it had less value then what we were told. This was supposed to be our honeymoon after recently getting married and will never be returning to Sunwing or Cuba especially. Super disappointed and disgusted. Almost all food was inedible. Not looking for a compensation voucher or travel credit. We are looking for a full refund. Thanks.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Trip to Cayo Coco -- Memories of Caribe

The grounds were fine. The buffet was fine. Some days things were missing and back on the next day. Which was ok. Going to the grills and waiting for a few minutes to have something hot was amazing (beef, pork chicken, fish, pasta, rice and eggs). Not that the buffet was cod. A la cartes were good especially Asian that I was able to have a 4 course meal. The service was great in both buffet and a la carte. The rooms were spacious. We had 2 double beds in our first room and then a king b [... read more]ed in our second. The housekeeping staff were very helpful and would keep our rooms up to par. The down fall at this site was that our rooms were booked by one person and we were put in to different buildingds. Not close together. After one night and a day we were put in the same building on the ground floor. Which was good. Then when it was time to take a shower I found out that they did not have hot water in at least 4 towers and are working on it. They agreed to move us to another room in the resort but my wife said no that we moved once and she didn't want to move again . So they gave me a room I was able to go to once a day that I could have a shower. The day excursion to Moron and surrounding areas was awesome to see other parts of Cuba. Also picking up souvenirs and learning some of the history was great. At the resort the public washrooms were no always close by and some didn't have toilet

Barcelo Solymar: Terrible

Should have listen to reviews and stayed home. Worst vacation ever in 20 years. Stay away and safe your money. We are not fussy but this was the worst of the worst. Nothing to eat, no bars at beach, no entertainment….on and on and on

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Great resort

Grand Aston Varadero is a really beautiful resort where I've built great memories with friends and met amazing friendly staff. The food, the beach, the activities keep you entertained all day and night. The only negative comment I have is that the room service is not very sufficient. For example, the towels are never changed during the whole week and the washroom is not well maintained. But the beds are made and floors mopped.

Melia Costa Rey: Absolutely beautiful resort compliment with fantastic beach location!

Hotel was very well kept thru out and very clean and beautifully relax decorated all around. All hotel personnels are exceptionally friendly and polite. All à la carte was super and presented with delightful dishes from start to finish. Nightly entertainment was well organized and all performances were awesome and nearly perfected.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Resort

The Hotel was good, clean and had good service. Grounds very clean and amazing landscaping. Staff very friendly and helpful. Entertainment was awesome, great shows with very talented performers. Beautiful beaches.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Third trip better than ever !!

It was our third visit and the staff and resort continue to exceed our expectations! The rooms are clean and spacious and well air conditioned. The meals were amazing and so many options. The butlers Junior and Laritza are amazing ! They take care of all your reservations and are always helpful and available. There were many choices at the bar and premium liquor available. It’s easy to get a cart in order to go down to the beach and it’s just perfect there. Lots of sandy beach areas as well as p [... read more]laces to snorkel. There were more options for entertainment in the evening this year which was appreciated! Thank you to the great staff …. We will be back next year!

The hotel itself was beautiful, the rooms were I’d say an eight out of 10. As a single guest I had two bathrooms, two separate showers one giant bed, I really didn’t need that much for one person.There was no hot water in my room , Alegance , for 4 days. The staff were amazing and very friendly. The buffet had a good variety, but certainly could’ve been hotter food. There were plenty of drinks, although they did not have vodka or orange juice. The snack bar near the beach was very nice, but they certainly could’ve used some music piping through the whole time. The drinks were very strong But very good. All in all I would recommend it but personally, I would’ve preferred a little more excitement and a little more nightlife. There was a disco that started at 10:30 but by that time there weren’t too many people there. There was entertainment in the lobby from approximately eight till 10, the guests were just getting a good buzz and enjoying the evening when the entertainment was done at 10 o’clock, it certainly could’ve gone on longer. All in all, I would recommend it if you want a lower key vacation. The staff was amazing. We brought lots of gifts and we tipped well and they were very appreciative.
