Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: beautiful week in sun surf & sand.

This resort expands over a large area....lots of walking.We basically spent most of our time on the west side of resort.Building#5 .Our maid was awesome.We reguested a 2nd floor.Thank you Bismak. We left a note in fridge for 2 bottles of water & a peso & received our water. We put our beach towels down on lounger each am before 7:10 & made it back to our room before the insecticide spray truck came around the resort The food was average for Cuba.Alot of the time it was warm. Unfortuntantly the insecticide truck sprayed again between7:15 &7:45 pm just when going to buffet or a la carte. we took floats to use @ beach....lots of fun

Ocean Blue and Sand: Great Resort

The food was awesome! The grounds were beautiful! When we called reception with a problem they were right there to fix. Very well laid out! Loved the japenese restaurant. Never ran out of towels which was always a problem at other resorts I have stayed at. Over all I would highly recommend this hotel.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very nice resort for cuba

Had been to Cuba once before, Cayo Santa Maria was not to happy with it, so this time I set my expectations lower with Ocean el Patricia resort. I was pleasantly surprised room was nice pool and beach were very nice, the food by Cuba standards was good always found something to eat. The staff were excellent and there was good entertainment every night. If you want a shady spot on the beach you have to be there by six thirty a.m. but you can find a spot with shade at the pool up to about eight a [... read more].m. Not to far from Veradero took a cab cost forty pesos return. Recommend going to front desk and taking a classic car for an evening drive not every day you get to take a drive in a 1955 chev Belair. Overall good vacation.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Really great place!

Was here for 7 days with a group of 8. Overall we had a great time. Couple downfalls were even with the seaweed issues the beach is rocky and service in the buffet is slow in terms of drinks and coffee. Best bet is to get someone's attention before you sit down. The food was delicious everywere we ate. Coffee at Mike's is awesome. The ice cream shop was a nice add. We watched most shows and again they were quite good! Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Good resort but not a 4.5 star!

The grounds were very dry in most places, mostly due to the time of the year. The buffet did not offer as many choices as other resorts with much of the same food appearing every day. ie. no healthy cereals at breakfast, only one very slow toaster, butter tastes nasty, limited fruit choices, no roasted chicken offered - just chewy skinless breasts, dry rice dishes, few potato dishes, many very sweet cake desserts but no rice pudding or lighter desserts. The pool was very shallow (about 3 ft. a [... read more]t most) so warmed up fast in the afternoon. There was only one pool. Beach was beautiful but hard to get umbrella, cabana or a chair. Guests put their towels on chairs early in the morning (5:30!) or at night. Same at pool. Very little shade. The rooms were clean and housemaid was very good, as were most of the staff. 3 out o4 hand dryers did not work - no paper towels - no toilet dispensers in some cubicles.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: very good choice

My husband and I and our friends enjoyed our 7 day stay at Casa Del Mar in Santa Maria Cuba. A few hiccups with the safe but nothing that would change my outlook on resort. The beach was fantastic and the bartenders were amazing. The shows were mediocre as it is not a large resort. The food was ok, I am limited due to allergies and didn’t go hungry but the buffet got repetitive as the week went on. Ocean Maya Royale: Really enjoyed this resort

Resort is well maintained. Rooms always cleaned and bed very comfortable. Had a few issues with Japanese restaurant that Rodrigo at the front desk fixed quickly. Also had issues with the benefits we were to get having booked through WestJet. Once they figured that out, they fixed quickly. Nightly entertainment was good. Just a couple of acts they shouldn't ever have again but the rest were good. Food was really good at all restaurants. Breakfast a little monotonous but was really only th [... read more]ere for the coffee. Very little beach at this resort but wasn't there to swim and seaweed problems at all beaches in Playa Del Carmen made going in some days impossible. Active and quiet pool as well as loungers on sand are close together so you'd hear everything going on at the active pool. Never bothered us. All wait, cleaning, grounds, front desk, food prep, maintenance staff always trying to please. New terminal at airport was great. So quick to get through and transportation was waiting when we got outside.

Playa Vista Azul: Something for everyone

This fairly new resort is a well represented 4 star with all the amenities to make me want to return again. The food was plentiful and tasty. Beds were not hard. Staff were energetic and helpful. I enjoyed the nightly entertainment in the lobby & theatre, but everything quieted down around 11pm. (I think a bus took partiers to a bar/disco close by.) Our pre-arranged ground floor room request was granted and the walk-in shower was beneficial for ease of access. There was a mix of young and o [... read more]ld with a separate wading pool for kids. You could choose from two beautiful beaches with kayak use at one. There was a money exchange at the hotel lobby to buy wifi cards ( 1 CUC peso for 1 hour) or cigars/rum.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great vacation!

We enjoyed our stay at the Ocean Casa del Mar, the staff is amazing...Honorable mention goes out to Vania, our bartender at the pool and Magdial at the buffet...both made our trip that much more special. The front desk staff top notch as was our Sunwing rep. The food could have been a little better but the overall experience more than made up for it. Ocean Blue and Sand: Great resort

The personnel at this resort are fantastic. The ground is in great shape. The rooms are in good condition. The beach is OK. The pools are great. The pool bars and the lobby bar are a great place to hang out. The pool restaurant and the buffet restaurant served great food. The problem with this resort is giving access to US high school groups for their senior years. They have no respect for the other customers and it is the same for their parents or chaperones. The hotel should have them  [... read more]signed a waiver to behave. They are wild, noisy and rude and so are the parents. I told one father that he was not allowed to smoke at the lobby bar, he turned around and stayed at the bar. More security needed to take care of this problem.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Fun spot

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff really adds to the experience. The buffets were not that great but the à la carte restaurant were good but you had to wait a minimum of 20 minutes. And some nights up to an hour or more.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: So so

Beach so, so,... long line up for beach grill. Pool good except for broken pieces and not cleaned promptly. Food.... its Cuba. If you could stand the line ups for pizza or pasta they are delicious. Dont eat the chicken. Got sick over if. Service very good and friendly staff, always eager to help. Room are nice size and newer looking but we did have some issuez.... clogged shower drain, leaking AC, patio door very hard to open, bed comfortable.

Pros Staff were AMAZING: So kind and generious always asking if we needed anything,always smiling and so sweet. Great entertainment! Rooms were great, BIG washrooms! Beach was perfect! Always a tun of food! Fun activities! Boating was free and so fun! Felt very safe the whole time Cons: Wifi is spoty and no snap chat available.. Key card to room got demagnitized and was locked out twice..But all in all the whole thing was AMAZING

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great Time

This was a nice resort. We went to this resort to relax and basque in the sun. The weather cooperated with us by giving us 7 days of sun. One morning there was a very light mist in the air but it cleared up by lunch time. Temperatures were fine and there was a constant breeze to prevent us from getting hot. The food was alright. It kind of gets tiresome after 7 days having the same food. We had asked for a Oceanview room and that we got. It was a great view of the ocean from room 431 second floo [... read more]r. I would have been very disappointed if I had been on the ground floor. All you would have seen was the bushes. One of the downers of the room was that the patio doors couldn't be locked. I had read about a review very similar to this on tripadvisor before went to the resort and used a similar tactic to secure the door.We had used the ironing board as our patio door lock. The lock looked like it had been pryed off by a past visitor. The staff was very polite and helpful. The beach was awesome.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: terrible resort do not waste your money

very expensive for very little,,, rude staff,,,rooms paper thin,,, time share harrassment,, poor repetetive food,,, beach rocky and very hard on feet..very loud music and screaming kids at the eden pool all day starting about 9 in the am

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Not great!

It was alot bigger then expected. So alot of walking. Not much food options (basically ham and cheese everyday). Cleaning of room was not everyday. We used the same bath towels everyday for 7days. Received no beach towel in our room had to use our friends.

Beautiful resort. Great weekend away would definitely return. One major disappointment was customer service. Understandably this is Cuba a Spanish speaking country however not all your tourist speak Spanish. There should be more English/Spanish speaking reps around. Front desk especially should have people that can answer common questions people have. Check in. This process needs to be streamlined. The hotel should know how many people are coming in via tours ie Sunwing. After a long fligh [... read more]t/bus ride the last thing you need is a long line. Have a separate room available with details/room keys - along with an English speaking rep. this would unclog the congestion in the lobby and make your new visitors feel comfortable. A la carte restaurants - I love the idea of not limiting guests the number of restaurants during stay but again with the long waits at 5:30. There needs to be a better system than having people cut there day to wait in line for reservations.

Overall this resort was great value for money. We especially liked the restaurants and that you did not have to reserve. They were also located in one area of the resort which was very convenient. The Japanese restaurant did require reservations and was a fun experience. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Our room was in the original section and was average. I think the newer section would be more modern. Facecloths seem to be scarce and unless you requested 2 you  [... read more]only got one or none.... so pack a couple. Food was good at the buffet with lots of variety and everything was fresh . We love seafood but didn’t see a lot of shrimp and no calamari other then in a seafood stew.... we typically have had lots in other resorts. The entertainment staff were a lot of fun! We have travelled to the Caribbean for 20+ years and don’t typically return to the same resort twice but it’s not one I would say no to if the opportunity came up again.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Awesome Resort

Great resort. Pablo, Alehandra and Johnson at the lobby bar are the best. Make you family. The layout of the resort, distance from the airport, internet throughout the resort, amazing staff, excellent food with unlimited ala cart restaurants which you do not have to reserve and clean rooms are all great options that are not offered at many resorts. We would return again ☺☺

The Beach and pool were very nice. The staff was good. The à la carte restaurants were disappointing, and the way they did the reservations, were the worst I have ever seen. I would not go back to the resort.
