Sol Turquesa Beach: Great vacation- Food, not so much

We stayed at memories April 1 to 8 and we were a group of 5 ladies. The resort was nice and grounds were very well kept but it’s huge! If you have mobility issues this isn’t the resort for you at all! As the days went on, we were able to find a few short cuts through the property but their were carts to drive you around if you needed or wanted them too. We stayed in the 650 building and the rooms were recently renovated. They were great! The safe worked but the balcony doors never locked. We [... read more] used a bench in our room to wedge the door shut however we were on the second floor so we weren’t too worried. We always had hot water and great water pressure in the shower and the toilets worked just fine. Our housekeeper-Madeline was terrific, and most of the hotel staff were great. There was one male bartender at the lobby bar who wasn’t too friendly but everyone else was super. I have traveled to Cuba many many times and this resort was by far the worst food I have had in Cuba! When you travel to Cuba you don’t go for the food but this was very different from my other 8-10 visits to the area. Yes you could usually find something to eat, but it was usually questionable lol the donuts were great and breakfast had eggs so that was a positive. We had our best meals on a day trip we took to Guardalavaca on the boulevard. We spent the day at the beautiful beach there and ate the pizza for lunch and then had a bbq place for dinner. Was 100% amazing and very cost efficient! Because we were guests on this public beach they did charge us 1 paso per beach chair. I think this was just the lifeguard making a few bucks but it was worth it. All in all we had a great vacation, our agent Angela at tripcentral always takes care of us! I am not sure we would go back to this resort..... Unless the price was right of course. Departing from Toronto I would say $800 a person or less and it is worth the trip. Anything higher then that isn’t worth it. The club amigo Guardalavaca was a much better option in my opinion when I stayed there last year.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Fun place

The grounds are well kept. The staff are very friendly. Many rooms are in poor condition and smell moldy. Fantastic beach and nice ocean views. The entertainment could use an overhaul. See the same things on return visits. Food is edible but nothing fantastic. I come back because of the staff.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Ok resort for Cuba

Beach and pools were the best things about this resort. Lots of walking to get anywhere from your room, wouldn’t recommend for seniors or anyone with mobility issues. Food was worst I have had in Cuba (been 3 times) constantly “running out” of things. It was an ok resort and would only go back if the price was cheap.

Sol Turquesa Beach: OK Resort

Beach was bad . Would not recommend if you are a beach person. Food was not good. Same every day . Breakfast was the best was repeatative . Pools were nice , staff was nice . If you want the best price and that is the criteria then good . If you want better quality of drinks then not at all

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Wonderful Family Vacation!!

This resort and amazing. They treated us very well every step of the way. Check in was a breeze and always someone willing to help. My Son turned 15 during our vacation and the staff went above and beyond to make it a great day to remember including baking him2 special cakes. We will definitely be returning and recommending this resort to Friends and Family! 😊

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

The rooms were very well kept, our maid was bang on. The rest of the resort was great as well. We ate at a few of the a la carte resturants- Italian, Mexican, Cuban-- all were very good. We even went back to the Italian a few days in a row! The beach was great for snorkling, I even saw a lion fish. We took a cab into Holguin to do the stairs to to the cross,make sure you bring water with you. Then our cab drivers let us out to look around Holguin. Since this was not our first time, we knew exactaly where it was, and what to order. Fabulous pizza!! We were a group of 18, and had no problems with the hotel or food. We all enjoyed our time at Fiesta Americano Costa Verde.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Beautiful beach and great service

The beaches were the highlight of this trip and its so nice to have two to chose from. Service was generally very good everywhere, and it was never difficult to get a drink or two. The food was really quite good with a good selection - not every dish is great, but there are always lots of options to pick from. Will definitely go back.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beautiful resort

Beautiful resort,amazing beach 🌊 Friendly staff.Amazing coffee. Food ...no bread,no fries,no fresh juice,one kind of cheese 🧀 cut in different shapes,no shrimp,no calamari.No night shows in theatre.They having problems with supplies of any food .Its really difficult to rate or recommend this resort to anyone because I'm regular guest at this resort and I'm sad 😭 what happened.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Ok Resort

Travelled to Club Amigo 6 times, I love the location and beach. However, there are seldom enough beach chairs, but lots of boom boxes screaming out songs from other guests with no consideration for others. We stayed at the Villa, which is quite an increase over the standard rooms. Two small towels, not changed daily, calls for restocking of toilet paper. I come on vacation to relax, no continually have to request what should be included. Food ran out at the different snack bars, sorry no egg [... read more]s, no coffee, no burgers, no fries, no pizza. No wonder they run out as people ordering for their 10 family members on the beach who do not have bracelets. As you wait your turn to be order, a group of Cubans come in and get waited on immediately after I’ve already waited 30 minutes 😞 Each day was a new struggle, no pina colada’s today, no margaritas today. Going on vacation should be relaxing, the daily foolishness just gets to be enough, will not be returning to this resort. It is a three star, however it’s more like a 1, over the years things have gone downhill.

Playa Costa Verde: A Village in a Park

A great holiday for your money .2 story buildings in a park like setting. large pool and a place for small children with a shallow pool . icecream hutt and a beer corner for evening get together with friends. Lobby has lots of seating areas with new furniture. Evening entertainment is fun. There are lots of different dining possibilitiys,a snackbar 3 restaurants and of course the dining hall with a variety of foot for everyone . Sol Turquesa Beach: great family holiday

what a great time we had at the Memories resort. We were happy with the staff and accommodations for our villa. the staff took there time and assisted us with our luggage and transportation. also the kids enjoyed the pools offered. great food . we will be coming back again. we highly recommend this resort

it was fantastic depend what's you want do ,arrived at hotel it was busy not enough room so they give us suite for free, really good 2 little beach ,1big the site is big so if feel party or quiet you got choose snockling by yourselve free bycicle ,people was really friendly We will go back there next year

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great resort

Love this resort. The rooms are getting dated, but they were clean, and everything (shower, AC, safe) worked. Food is decent. Every staff member from checkin, housekeeping, bartender and waiters is a pleasure to deal with. The beach is the shining star, one of the nicest I've been to.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: An excellent place to stay!

My wife and I visited Paradisus from March 29 to April 5. We were pleasantly surprised by the resort. The staff was excellent and service was fantastic. The grounds were fairly well kept. The food was very very good and there was no shortage of it. You were able to get something to eat at anytime, the 24 hour restaurant and bar was great. We highly recommend this resort and we will definitely return. Lorenzo and Luis were great bartenders!

Playa Pesquero: Nice resort, needs refresh.

The resort is nicely laid out and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The huge free form pool is great and the evening entertainment was most enjoyable. The beach area is very nice but need to be aware of mosquitoes at dawn and dusk. Buffet restaurants lack variety and presentation. A la carte restaurants were enjoyable and food quite good. However, the buildings, rooms, and grounds are "tired" and sorely in need of updating. On the whole we had an enjoyable and relaxing week.

hotel is just ok beach is smallish still cannot believe a mohito was hard to get-! :( staff are good but few in number. things to do were unavailable like billiards after 5 pm price for it was good however i'd paid more for Brisas , next door, which i did on another trip. rooms not ready upin arrival was expected but a hassle nevertheless. to get a beer outdoors after 5pm was not possible, a la carte are great and the breakfast s are always healthy

Paradisus Rio De Oro: FANTASTIC RESORT - A DEFINITE MUST FOR A RETURN!

This was our first time in Paradisus Rio De Oro. We had a fantastic time. Divided our time between the pool and the gorgeous beach that had amazing snorkeling. The food was fantastic in both the buffet as well as the A la Carte restaurants. Japanese was our favorite. The grounds were immaculate and the workers in all areas of the resort were polite and very friendly. We are already planning on returning next year. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: This is a great resort!!

This is my 5th time in Cuba, and my 1st time in Holguin. I typically stay in 3.5-4 star resorts. This is a great hotel with very friendly service. The grounds are spacious, and the accommodations are varied. We stayed in what are known as "The Barracks" by many of the guests at the resort who are regular patrons of the resort. This is considered a "standard room" (called "Garden View" on my ticket; although I think more than 80% of the rooms would qualify with this description because t [... read more]hey mostly seem to fit this description). Even though our room was a 10-minute walk to the lobby, it was actually quite close to a set of pools, the 24-hour bar, and, most importantly, the beach!!! There was quite a variety of bars, a la cartes, and there was even more than 1 buffet (which you don't find very often). The food was standard Cuban cuisine, including standard Cuban food quality. And as always, I always found something to eat, regardless of the time of day. The only negative part of my stay was actually the check-out (12:00 noon SHARP; PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE ACTUALLY AT THE LOBBY DESK CHECKING OUT AT OR BEFORE THIS TIME, NOT JUST LEAVING YOUR ROOM). A bus had arrived (with new guests) at the same time as I (and 40 others) were checking out. There was no organized filing system, and I spent 1/2 hour in the wrong line, coupled with the fact that many existing patrons were constantly jamming in line ahead of us. We actually had to use my favourite bartender to speak with some of the staff in order to get any service. By the time we reached a clerk, we were informed that we had to pay a late check-out fee (because it was now past 13:30. But it was not the standard fee for late check-out. It was only 5 CUC. This seemed like a bit of a shake-down, so we argued against it. After calling a couple of managers, the fee was waived. I truly enjoyed my holiday at this resort and would definitely return.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Not Near As Good Anymore

The service this year wasn’t near as pleasant as the past three years. The receptionists at the front desk were exceptionally rude. We’ve been to Club Amigo four times, but I will definitely not be returning again.
