Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: A great trip

This was a beautiful resort! The grounds were beautiful and everything was clean. The beach was okay, not as nice as other areas in Cuba, but still nice. I’d recommend water shoes as there were areas that were rocky/had broken shells. The pools in each section of the resort were nice and well kept. We stayed on the sanctuary side, which was actually the busier area of the resort the week we went. At the main buffet they had pasta, fried rice, and pizza bars at lunch and dinner that were always a hit. I’d recommend bringing any condiments and seasonings that you may want. The drinks were the best that we’ve had in Cuba (this was our 5th time in Cuba, first in Holguin). The sanctuary lobby bar had the best drinks! The rooms were clean, but ours had a musty smell and there was a dehumidifier in our room. The AC didn’t always work, and I was very thankful I had brought a small portable fan. We had premium and our butlers were great (Yosbel and Raciel). They were very helpful. Overall we loved the layout of this resort. We would definitely return!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Disappointed

We were looking forward to being in a bungalow for our two week stay but had to move to a room in the hotel. Workers shut the water off at night when they left for the day and turned it on when they remembered the next day. We were unable to use the facilities after seven in the evening. No toilet and no showers between 7pm and 8am. They advertised a fridge and Tv in the bungalow. There was no fridge. We did have the TV but it was not connected. There was no Ariel. We did ask and the front desk [... read more] said they would look into it. The 3rd day we were there, the hydro was shut off as it happens throughout Cuba. The resort turned their Generator on during dinner time then again when it got dark outside. The bungalows are not connected to the Generator. I asked to be moved inside the hotel for the night as I require a c-pap machine and cannot sleep without it. We ended up staying in what they call a seaview room, no fridge even though they promised to get one but the TV did work. Overall we enjoyed our vacation because of the company we had, but we are disappointed because we did not get a room we paid extra for. We were in three different rooms which created extra stress, and all the unpacking and packing involved. Club Garcia should not be renting out the bungalows because they are not ready for guests. A credit towards a future trip would be appreciated.

Melia Cayo Coco: The Six Canadian Ladies

I strongly encourage all people wanting to go to Cuba to stay in Melia Cayo Coco as it has everything you want & more. Beautiful beaches, very clean & friendly staff, lots to do, a very large buffet of everything you can imagine with a main lounge & large entertainment bar beside. Lots of meat, fish, yummy desserts, fresh vegetables & fruit. They’re à la cart, restaurants International, a beach restaurant & Cuban. Bar on the beach, many games to take part in & dance classes if you want a little  [... read more]exercise. Also there’s a fitness Centre beautiful large pool. We went on one of the excursions as well & it gave us a new appreciation of the Cuban people. I will go every time to this wonderful place.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Enjoyable visit.

Friendly greeting upon arrival with a welcome drink. Our assigned butler took us on a tour and then to our room. The staff and the beach are what makes this resort. The food was decent for Cuba but very repetitious. There are no menus since they don’t know what they will have available for that day. The waitress tells you upon sitting what is available. Always eggs and bacon available although the bacon was rationed. Absolutely no jam or peanut butter. The best evening show was on Sunday  [... read more]evening with a Michael Jackson impersonator. Poolside entertainment started shortly after 3:30 and was entertaining but nothing special. Bring lots of donations for the staff i.e. clothes, shoes, toys, Tylenol, toothpaste, etc. Believe me, it’s so appreciated. They get to keep material things but all tips are shared. The entertainment staff were very warm and friendly, Yadian and Karley are the best!

Melia Las Dunas: The worst

We did not get to go to this resort as sunwing cancelled our entire trip. We booked through trip central and when asked for help to get compensated for the 8hr delay. Trip Central replied “oh dear Iam sorry, Nothing we can do” contacted Sunwing and they said “I had to go through trip central”. Didn’t get anywhere, will not booked through Trip Centeal again!!

Sol Caribe Beach: 10/10 Resort!

Amazing resort. Had everything we needed and wanted. Had amazing staff that were friendly and welcoming and very helpful with any mixups Sunwing send our way! Resort was big enough that our room felt separate from the other people yet close enough to everything to not feel excluded. The beach way amazing and entertainment on the beach as well as all over the resort was amazing. I'm running out of synonyms for "amazing" because it was awesome

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing resort

The staff are so friendly and accommodating. The food, buffet and ala cartes, were excellent. The beach, the pool and the bars are all amazing. If I had to complain, it would only be the lack of hot water in the shower. First day was cold, but warm after that. It was doable

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Paradise Golden River

3rd time at this resort. Did not disappoint. Beautiful staff from Anne and Marie checking us in exchanges our room to avoid excessive sun in room. Maryluz our Maid Luis, Edward. Change Marisol and all Bar tenders Elizabeth, yennleydis Marie and rest of Buffet Staff. Rollando for the best burger and chicken fajitas on my Gluten Free breads Monriel at customer service. Beautiful beach amazing grounds for awesome strolls Cannot wait to come back. See you soon

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing resort!

Just spent 9 days at this resort, wonderful staff, great food, beautiful clean pools and lovely beach. This is not our first or last time at this resort!!! We go premium and can’t say enough about how caring the staff is. I recommend this resort if you want a lovely vacation.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Awesome resort

It was amazing,the staff are so friendly. The rooms are clean,no bugs.the pool was so beautiful and clean.the beach was totally beautiful. The entertainment was phenomenal. We didn't have bread for 2 days.but we had food the whole time

Sol Cayo Coco: Love this resort

Our room wasn't quite done yet. Everyone was friendly and polite. We were disappointed that the toaster was broke and not fixed with in our 2 week holiday. The upgraded areas were fantastic. The disco, the outside concert was covered and amazing. However the timing of our flight was very difficult for many people and may prevent us coming back which would break our hearts. Iberostar Coral Ensenachos: A very Nice Surprise

I want to not promote this hotel so it stays quaint and peaceful but I must be honest it exceeded my expectations. What’s makes this hotel so special are the people, they are so welcoming and friendly. The rooms and location will be a wonderful surprise. My only complaint is the food inconsistency but it’s Cuba so that’s expected. This is not a place for teenagers as there is nothing for them . Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great vacation

We had a very good stay at Memories Flemenco. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect for you. The beach was amazing. You can walk the beach for miles or lay on one of the many loungers on the beach. The grounds are very clean and well maintained. The food is very good and lots of it. We had a great vacation at Memories Flemenco.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort

The resort is beautiful and the layout was well designed. The beach was great and clean. The food was good for Cuba but the long line ups were frustrating. Some of the staff at the buffet were arrogant and rude. The drinks at the lobby bar were water down. Not enough waiters at the lobby bars at peak hours. Many times some drinks were not available due to some ingredients availability. I have been to at least 15 resorts in Cuba with some of them 3 or 4 times and I must say that overall, we were [... read more] disappointed and we will not return.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Good resort

Grounds were well kept. Beach was amazing!! Food was decent just limited variety. They also ran out of beer for 2 days and limited on vodka and tequila. Rooms were nice and our maid did a very good job every day. The workers were all very nice.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Fantastic Holiday

Hotel staff was helpful, friendly, and always smiling. The beach is awesome and swimming in the ocean was a highlight of the trip. Room was big and soundproof with a comfortable bed and a second bathroom. Food was good considering the shortages they were dealing with. Grounds were well kept. Excellent value for the money. Kayaking was included and the sailboat ride to swim with the fish was well worth it. Get the video and pictures if the camera guy is there.

Melia Las Americas: Incredible experience

After a couple of bad experiences in Cuba, I finally had the pleasure to enjoy one of my best holidays. Everything was above my expectations. Food, entertainment, personal… all very good. The beach was clean and activities were great. Wide variety of drinks. Golf was good as well.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Amazing resort

Les chambres sont grandes et très propre. Pour le lobby bar très propre aussi mais j’ai trouvé le personnel du lobby pas très aimables. Lorsque l’on allait pour un drink souvent ils nous ignoraient et fesait passer d’autres clients devant nous c’était très frustrant. La plage est exceptionnelle et les piscines très belles. Pour la nourriture cela dépends des goûts comme nous ne sommes pas difficiles la nourriture pour nous était correct.

Club Tropical: Perfect

The hotel is wonderful! We shared the apartment on the beach with friends of ours. The scenic views and hypnotic sounds of the ocean waves crashing on the beach...amazing! The staff and bosses are great. They do everything possible for you to enjoy your stay. Some things are beyond their control...everything else is ?%

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: First and last visit

I had an incident the first night I arrived at this hotel. Two men were pounding on my door and speaking in Spanish and I didn’t understand what they were saying. I had been lying in bed as it was 8:20 pm and walked to the door to hear the door lock open (I had the bolt on too). I met these two men as they were trying to enter my room and they asked me if my cable was working. The one man had two towels under his arm. I said there was nothing wrong with my cable and I closed the door. I immediat [... read more]ely called the desk and was told they would speak to the maintenance men. I then got dressed and headed over to the desk to speak to management. I met the two men standing and talking to a third man in the area just outside my room. As I passed the one man said ‘Can I talk to you? I said ‘no and stay out of my room’. When I got to the desk and spoke to the staff they told me that the manager wasn’t available. A minute later one of the ‘maintenance’ men appeared at the desk and I said that’s the guy who was just at my room. They guy at the desk said that he was the manager. I said tell him to stay out of my room. I was then told that he wasn’t able to tell him to stay out of my room as he was the manager and that he had the right to go into my room! I then proceeded to tell the man behind the desk that I didn’t feel safe and didn’t want anyone, including housekeeping to come into my room. I was uncomfortable as I was travelling alone to this resort. I was uneasy and slept with a table against my door that night. The next morning I spoke to the Air Transat representative for the hotel. She spoke to the manager and he claimed that there was a complaint previous to my visit about the cable. I told her that I didn’t want anyone including housekeeping to enter my room. There was evidence that someone was in my room as a piece of paper was left on the table and not under the door. Also I had a housekeeper enter my room when I was in the glass shower that is right by the door and if someone was passing by in the hallway I would have been in full view. I had said repeatedly not to enter as I was in the shower. I was lucky to meet four other women who were travelling together who befriended me and looked out for me that week, otherwise it would have been a very stressful vacation of trying to feel safe at this location. I posted on the Facebook page for this resort my experience and it was removed, as were other posts about incidents with young women. If you’re a single woman travelling alone I wouldn’t recommend this resort.
